00:00Okay, so we're backstage with Tucker Wetmore,
00:02and I don't know if you remember,
00:02but the last time we spoke was at Fenway in the clubhouse.
00:05Yes, I do remember.
00:06So it's your name on the tour now.
00:08You were with Thomas Rhett back then.
00:10Despite the obvious, what's the biggest difference
00:13between headlining and opening up for somebody?
00:17Man, I'll start with this.
00:18In a lot of ways, opening up on a big tour like that
00:21is one of the biggest blessings in the world,
00:23especially having that direct spot right before Thomas gets on.
00:27At the Fenway show, it was me, then Teddy, and then Thomas.
00:32But the rest of the tour, I was right before Thomas every night.
00:36Dude, such a blessing to be able to learn and just grow
00:39and get feedback from him, and for him to get off stage,
00:43and he goes, dude, that was fire.
00:45I'm like, that's the coolest thing in the world.
00:46I've been listening to you since I was like 10 years old.
00:49But such a blessing.
00:53There's something about headlining shows
00:55that you can't really find that feeling anywhere else.
01:01I grew up playing sports and everything.
01:03Back then, I thought Friday Night Lights was the best feeling in the world.
01:06I got to college, and I thought that was the best feeling in the world.
01:09Dude, it's a rush that I think a lot of artists strive for
01:16when they're off the road.
01:17What's the biggest change mentally?
01:19Because that was back in July.
01:21But what's the biggest thing that's changed in you since then?
01:24A lot, honestly, especially over this past couple of months.
01:30I've had a lot of time to think about everything
01:33and kind of just spend some time with myself and with my loved ones
01:38and really sit back and think about how cool everything really is.
01:42Because when you're in the middle of it, dude,
01:43it's hard to take yourself out of what the craziness is bringing.
01:49And having that time really helped me like, wow, this is really cool.
01:53I'm truly so blessed to be able to do this.
01:56But I'm growing every day, and I'm learning, and it's trying to be me.
02:00It's trying to stay healthy and happy.
02:02So back then, you only had the one number one.
02:05Now you get two.
02:06The hardest thing.
02:06Ain't that crazy?
02:07Yeah, it's crazy, right?
02:08Two in one year.
02:08Insane.
02:09Insane.
02:10Insane.
02:11When 3-2-1 went to the top, did you have a moment where you're like,
02:14it's kind of for real, or did it not really feel that way?
02:18What do you mean?
02:19Like, did it make things heavier on you?
02:21Like, oh, now that I have a streak going, I have to protect that streak?
02:24A little bit, yeah.
02:25Yeah, obviously, you know, it's, I'm a creative, you know, in my mind,
02:33I'm a creative and in my heart.
02:34But in my heart, I like to compete, and not just with anybody.
02:38I like to compete with myself and, like, push myself to, you know,
02:42keep streak going or, you know, better the next one or whatever it is.
02:45And I definitely am competing with myself now where it's like, okay,
02:49now next one's got to go, next one's got to go.
02:51Absolutely.
02:51I know it's inevitable that that streak will end or that time comes
02:56where something just doesn't work, and I can live with that.
02:59But it's fun to ride it right now.
03:01Well, speaking of competing, you have a lot of nerves showing your face
03:04in the city this soon after the Super Bowl.
03:06It's crazy, big Seahawks fan.
03:07Yeah, I'm a big Seahawks fan.
03:09I just had my meet and greet out there, and a couple of them said something.
03:13But they seem so excited to, you know, see me and see me back out on the road.
03:17So it's nice that even though we have our differences as people,
03:22music brings us together in a sense, yeah.
03:25So that night, I mean, it was a whooping early on.
03:28Were you being classy?
03:29Were you texting your Patriot fan friends?
03:31Oh, I'm always classy.
03:32Okay.
03:33And he's sitting right there, my photographer.
03:36Patriots?
03:37Huge Pats fan.
03:38Okay.
03:38A huge Pats fan.
03:41And he was talking a little more smack than I was throughout the day,
03:45especially afterwards.
03:46And, you know, that's not really my game.
03:48I kind of just – whatever happens, happens.
03:50You know, if I was on the field, it would be a different story.
03:53Well, that's my next question.
03:54The game before that NFC Championship, you played halftime,
03:57one of the biggest stages in football.
04:00And, obviously, that was the road you were thinking you were going to go down
04:03before, you know, injuries and things.
04:05Did that cross your mind when you were on that stage?
04:07Oh, yeah.
04:08Yeah?
04:08Yeah, of course.
04:10I think it was, like, one of my first times back on a football field since then.
04:15Wow.
04:15And, yeah, that's crazy to think about, actually.
04:19And I grew up going to games at, you know, that stadium
04:23and watching my Hawks play and, you know, to be out on the field
04:28in front of, what was it, 80,000 people in the stadium that day.
04:32In front of 80,000 people and singing my songs and hearing them sing back to me.
04:36And it was one of the coolest things I've done in my life.
04:43But, I don't know.
04:44It was really cool.
04:46So, back to the tour.
04:47It's your first world tour, right?
04:50Yeah, kind of.
04:50Headlining world tour?
04:51Yeah.
04:52Major?
04:52Yeah.
04:52We did some headlines overseas, but it wasn't, like, a tour.
04:56We only did one.
04:56One line.
04:58Oh, never mind.
04:59Okay.
04:59This is my first headline world tour.
05:02So, it's starting off here in the city.
05:04I mean, in the States, obviously.
05:05Yep.
05:06Was Boston intentionally the first city?
05:08Was there any method, you know, thinking behind that?
05:11I remember how much I loved Boston last time I was here.
05:14You know, I played Fenway with TR and Teddy.
05:19And I remember how much I loved the crowd and the people.
05:21And, you know, it's not really out of my hands when it comes to, like, where we go, what times.
05:27But, I saw that, and my immediate reaction was, like, that's the perfect start to this next stage or this
05:34next tour.
05:35And, yeah, I was definitely really excited to come back.
05:37Well, it's the first night of the tour.
05:39Is there pressure?
05:40Is there freedom?
05:41What are you feeling right now?
05:43I feel like I – how do I explain this?
05:50I feel like I'm riding a bike for the second time ever.
05:52Okay.
05:53I guess that's it.
05:53In a sense of, like, it's been a long time since I've, you know, been on a stage.
05:58I mean, throughout the past two months, I've been on a stage probably, like, three times.
06:04But it's – I feel a little rusty.
06:06I feel a little, you know, pre-tour jitters right now.
06:10But I'm very excited.
06:11I am very sick right now, which is kind of terrible timing on that.
06:14But I am very excited to get out there and see what happens, I guess.
