00:22One mistake out here could be the difference between life or death.
00:25You have no idea what you're going to encounter.
00:30People come up here and when they're on the run, he's running, he's running, he's through
00:33there, and we'll find him.
00:34The allure to Alaska is just how wild it can be.
00:41Stop, or you're going to get tasered.
00:43Stop.
00:44It's Alaska State Troopers.
00:45You're on the left.
00:47Oh, stop.
00:49You don't have a boring day as a State Trooper in Alaska.
00:51Stop, fire, stop, fire.
00:52Take a round shot.
00:53State Troopers.
00:54Do not move.
00:55Let me see your hand.
00:56Hands down.
01:13My name is Trooper McKinney.
01:16I'm currently stationed here in the Matsu Valley.
01:18I've been with the Alaska State Troopers for over seven and a half years.
01:23It's CSE 31.
01:26Yeah, you're going to cut.
01:2810-23.
01:30Vehicle hit the moose.
01:31Moose just walked out in front of her from the woods, which is very common.
01:35Fortunately, the driver is not injured.
01:39Should we pull it to the side of the road?
01:46Cool.
01:46Cool.
01:46That was easy.
01:48NCSE 31.
01:49The moose is off the roadway.
01:51Can you go ahead and start our next available charity?
01:56It's just part of life, I guess.
01:57It's just kind of normal.
02:04NCSE 31.
02:07Yeah, I got it.
02:07Can you send myself and 44 a OLL photo of ****?
02:14Yeah.
02:15So earlier today, I received a report.
02:18The victim was wanting to buy two heating units for his garage on Facebook Marketplace for $300 each.
02:25My victim gave **** the $600 ****, stopped responding to his text messages.
02:33I learned that he currently has an outstanding arrest warrant.
02:37Due to being a high-level felony warrant, we have a K-9 unit that's going to be responding with
02:43us along with Trooper Kobe.
02:44We'll at least try to anticipate what he may do.
02:48He could run or give up.
02:51It is Alaska.
02:52Everybody has guns.
02:53So we have to be prepared.
02:56And it's snowing.
03:04We'll just walk up to the other side.
03:11I'll go to the back truck if you want to go to the car.
03:24Hey, state troopers.
03:26Am I rolling the window down for me?
03:28Hey, do you guys know a ****?
03:30No.
03:31Do you guys live here?
03:32No.
03:32We're like, we're not going to get here.
03:37We're just going to walk back real quick and contact the guy that's chopping wood to make sure it's not
03:42him.
03:43Hey, man.
03:44Hello, state troopers.
03:46We're looking for ****, man.
03:47Is he here?
03:48No.
03:50Do you know where he's at?
03:51I have no idea.
03:53Okay.
03:54Dang, he's only even cutting wood, man.
03:55I just started.
03:58Just started?
03:58Yeah, I don't know where he's at.
04:00Okay.
04:01Hey, can you, like, point me, like, where people live and stuff?
04:04Because I don't want to just keep walking through.
04:05I'll go that direction.
04:06That direction?
04:07Yep.
04:08To the main house, or?
04:10Dogs, yeah.
04:11Okay.
04:13Do you live here?
04:14I don't.
04:17He's running.
04:19He's running.
04:2121 foot bail.
04:25Stop!
04:26Get back here!
04:28Stop!
04:30We're hitting this right place.
04:34Stop!
04:36I was running on a taser.
04:39Get down.
04:41Run on a taser quick.
04:43Oh.
04:44Get down.
04:4521.
04:46I mean, I'm in on the ground.
04:47Get down.
04:48I'm in on the ground.
04:48Right now.
04:49Done.
04:50Get down.
04:52On the ground.
04:57Get on the ground now.
05:00Hands behind your back.
05:01off the ground.
05:06Copie and I are with .
05:09Give it.
05:11Do we go back to the house first?
05:14Stop.
05:14And pet my dog?
05:15Yeah.
05:15If you didn't run, I'd be more inclined to be lenient.
05:25Okay, so what I want to ask questions about is about selling those heaters.
05:30Yeah.
05:30Yeah.
05:31What can you tell me about them?
05:32What do you mean?
05:33So Juan, that's how I found you.
05:36Because he called because you ghosted him.
05:38I didn't ghost him.
05:39Who can he coordinate about getting the heaters?
05:42Because if he doesn't get them, you're getting charged.
05:44Yeah, you can talk to, yeah.
05:46Who do I tell him to talk to?
05:47.
05:49All right.
05:49Hey, okay.
05:50So we got that out of the way.
05:51You're not getting charged for anything additional or anything like that, except for your warrant.
05:54Why'd you run?
05:56Yo, that was actually the first time I ever ran.
05:58So why'd you stop?
05:59Why, I stopped running?
06:00Yeah.
06:00Because I'm out of here.
06:02.
06:04I got these big asses.
06:06I should have kept it pushing.
06:08Well.
06:09But I didn't want to get tased either, and I knew you were getting ground, so out.
06:12Well, we also, just let you know we also had a dog, too, and we did.
06:15Oh, yeah, yeah, I'm glad I stopped.
06:17I'm glad I stopped.
06:19Uh, all right, man.
06:20All right.
06:21All right.
06:29All right.
06:32All right.
06:48All right.
06:51The deceased found this vehicle with somebody in it and chased it down, decided to block
06:55it in and cause a disturbance.
06:57So we're going to head over there and figure out what's exactly going on.
07:03If it's your deceased brother's vehicle, you want it back and there's emotions tied to it.
07:09Some people try to go full Batman status and get their stuff back.
07:13It's definitely not advised that you do that.
07:15It's a good way for you to get hurt.
07:17It's a good way for you to get hurt.
07:17Let us take care of it.
07:21No, please tell me that's not it.
07:22That is it.
07:23They, like, blocked it, blocked it in.
07:45It's a good way for you to get hurt.
07:53It's a good way for you to get hurt.
07:55And if, like, you know, your car just like, shut your car in the house, well, the troopers
07:58were looking for him.
08:00They wanted to question him on what he knew about Jim's passing and was he in any way involved.
08:07And why does he have his rent?
08:08Why does he have Jim's car?
08:10All right.
08:10Jim had maybe had some weapons that disappeared when the car disappeared.
08:16My personal theory was he found Jim dead and just took his stuff.
08:23It looks like the car is actually stolen.
08:25And so the guy ran before we got here, which is weird.
08:28If you're going to try and say you're supposed
08:29to have ownership of this vehicle,
08:30you're going to stick around and argue your case
08:32when you run off into the woods.
08:33That's weird.
08:40Well, he's going to start the track of the last known sighting
08:42of the suspect.
08:43Hopefully, we can find him.
08:44Right there.
08:59We're tracking towards the limber loss right now.
09:01Oh, that's so gross.
09:04I fell on the mattress.
09:06I'm going to have to burn these pants.
09:08Oh, God.
09:14We're going to keep working back to where we were
09:21at the intersection and see if we can pick something up.
09:25Have y'all seen somebody running?
09:27He went down there, and he ran this way.
09:31Back on 30.
09:33He is in the house.
09:34That daughter told me he just walked in the house from the woods.
09:38State troopers!
09:40Oh, I hear you.
09:42But this is going to be very dynamic, your potential.
09:47So while we were on the track, we got informed that this
09:49is a house he's associated with that he had just ran inside
09:52the house and actually gave the people here the keys
09:54to the stolen vehicle.
09:56It's the Alaska State troopers.
09:57You are under arrest.
09:58Come out with your hands up and empty.
10:00Your force will be used against you.
10:02We have a canine.
10:05We're clearing the house.
10:06Slowly, room to room with the drone first, then send the dog in,
10:09and then us clearing.
10:10Kind of slow and methodical, which is how we do it
10:12to make sure nobody gets hurt.
10:16You have a canine.
10:17We need to check this one.
10:18I'm not sitting there.
10:19You have a canine.
10:23You have a canine.
10:36You have a canine.
10:37You have a canine.
10:37You will be dead.
10:39I'm out for buying the dresser.
10:40Four.
10:42Throw your hand on the top.
10:44You're going to end up getting hurt if you don't comply.
10:53Ten, ten, ten, ten.
10:55Stay out!
10:56Come out.
10:57I'm going to get out of the lead.
10:58I have to hold my dog.
11:00We've given you multiple announcements.
11:02Come out now.
11:03Four.
11:05I will.
11:06I'll get you.
11:06I heard it.
11:08Yep, he's out here.
11:12We sent the dog in the bathroom.
11:13They found him.
11:14He still didn't want to come out.
11:15It resulted in him getting dog bit.
11:17So now he's going to jail, tired and hurt.
11:20Definitely could have been a lot worse, okay?
11:22Yeah.
11:24You want to talk to me about this fiasco that's going on tonight?
11:27I just missed my friend, Jim.
11:29Well, the car, I mean.
11:30He said I could use it any time.
11:32Then why'd you not wait for the troopers to get over there?
11:34I really don't want to discuss it.
11:37Well, if you didn't steal the car, then you would have come out.
11:39I didn't steal the car.
11:40Then why would you?
11:40He said I could use the car any time I wanted.
11:43That was his problem.
11:43Then why would you not come out and talk to us about it?
11:45I'm talking to you now about it.
11:47You could have come out before you got bit.
11:49I should have, should have, should have won a quarter.
11:51Okay.
11:53We gave him multiple chances to comply, and he chose not to, and he chose to barricade.
11:57So he just learned the price of not complying with commands of committing a felony.
12:01So it's the end result.
12:18My name's Trooper Chacoin.
12:21We are in Fairbanks tonight.
12:24When I contact people, whether it be a traffic stop or a call for service, I try to be as
12:30human as I can be to make people relax a little bit.
12:34I get better results when dealing with the public, when I'm just there as a normal human
12:40being and not a, an always stern trooper.
12:49I'm going to pull over this car.
12:51They have an out headlight.
12:52Not the end of the world, but we'll give them a heads up.
12:59Fairbanks, 1D17, 1036.
13:08Hey, how you doing today?
13:09Trooper's scoring the last day.
13:10Troopers, you got your license, registration, proof insurance.
13:15Got your seatbelt on?
13:17Where'd you put the whiskey bottle that you just took from the center console?
13:20No whiskey bottle.
13:21Yeah, well, there was one there.
13:23You got your license on you?
13:24It's not the end of the world.
13:25If you haven't been drinking, no, no issues.
13:28But it's illegal to have an open container in your car.
13:31It's a ticket.
13:33So whoever has it or took it, just give it to me and we'll go from there.
13:38You know, I can pull it up on my body camera because my body camera is looking right there
13:43and that's where it was.
13:44I have it, boom.
13:44It's in the middle console.
13:45There's nothing.
13:48How old are you?
13:49We're all 21 and over.
13:50Okay, we're all 21, so it's not going to be a big deal.
13:54Sound good?
13:54Give me a second.
13:55I'll be right back.
13:56I'll let you make a good decision.
14:02It looked like a whiskey bottle in the center console area.
14:06And then I looked in the back and then I went back and it was gone.
14:08So I don't believe the driver's been drinking.
14:12I just want the honesty.
14:15You can just see the clear bottle.
14:21It was upside down right there.
14:24Let's go have another to chat.
14:28Okay.
14:31Okay.
14:32Goodness gracious.
14:33Like, be honest with me.
14:36I was literally going to show you on my phone.
14:38If you're honest with me, I work with you.
14:41If you lie to me, my hands are kind of tied, right?
14:45If you haven't been drinking, which I can tell you probably haven't just by talking to you,
14:49okay, then we have no issue.
14:52I'm not here to mess with you.
14:54I see something.
14:56I don't like being called a liar.
14:58Essentially what everyone in this car called me, right?
15:01Here, hand it to me.
15:02Pass it to your buddy.
15:04Okay.
15:04Do you have your ID on you, ma'am?
15:09Thanks.
15:10Listen, like, it's not the end of the world, right?
15:13I know.
15:13You don't need to be lying, okay?
15:15No need to be nervous.
15:17Well, it's a ticket.
15:19If you do get it, right?
15:21Okay.
15:21But it's like $180, right?
15:23Who has an extra $180 right now?
15:26But, like, yeah, I just got nervous.
15:28Yeah, don't get nervous.
15:29Be honest.
15:29Anybody else get in trouble and I'm the only one drinking and so.
15:32Okay.
15:33So, you can't have this open in the car.
15:35Yes.
15:36Dump it.
15:36Dump it out if you want.
15:37Yeah, go ahead.
15:38You can dump it.
15:40You want me to throw this away for you?
15:42Yeah.
15:42Yeah?
15:43Okay.
15:43So, what are we learning today?
15:45Uh, don't lie.
15:46Don't lie, right?
15:47Yeah.
15:47Um,
15:49My other half tells me that I should write you a ticket, but I don't know if that's going
15:55to be help with a trust issue, right?
15:57So, why don't we have a little trust?
15:59Yes.
16:00Right?
16:00Yes.
16:00I'm not going to lie.
16:02You're not going to lie anymore.
16:04Sound fair?
16:06Pinky promise?
16:07How about knuckles?
16:08Okay.
16:09Have a seat.
16:12You're in charge of everyone in your car, right?
16:15Yes, sir.
16:15So, therefore, you take some sort of responsibility of people drinking in your car, okay?
16:21You're doing the right thing in driving sober, but letting other people drink in your car,
16:26no good, okay?
16:27So, the reason for a stop is you're out headlighted there.
16:29Yeah, I figured, yeah.
16:30You figured?
16:31Have you been stopped for that?
16:32No, I haven't been stopped, but I'm getting a fix tomorrow.
16:33Okay, excellent.
16:35You can issue a citation for having an open container, or we can have an educational moment
16:41with them, but they came to their senses, and they're on their way with a sober driver.
16:59For about the last 24 hours, patrol day shift and night shift has been trying to find two
17:05people and see if we can get them arrested today.
17:08This is probably one of the most, like, heinous crimes that I've ever seen anything about.
17:15So, about a month and a half ago, patrol responded to a medical assist welfare check type call
17:22involving a four-year-old little girl who had suffered some injuries.
17:27Evidence on scene showed that the girl was very obviously suffering abuse and starvation.
17:35The child later died in the hospital, and her death was ruled a homicide.
17:41Child abuse investigation unit was able to get warrants for the two adults that were
17:45supposed to be taking care of the little girl.
17:48It's a woman and her boyfriend.
17:50The woman is the main suspect in the case, so she has been ultimately charged with committing
17:56the murder and actually doing the things that led to the little girl's death.
18:00We've been told that her and her boyfriend know that they have the warrants.
18:03They're obviously doing something to try to hide from us because they're not in any of
18:08their known locations.
18:09Seems like she's changed her phone number.
18:11She skipped out of work yesterday.
18:13She's definitely on the run from us.
18:15We do have updated information about what kind of car she's in.
18:20All right, so the car's hidden back here on this public road.
18:25Just stay on the car and wait.
18:27We'll get everybody into the area, and then we'll just go flood the place.
18:32Sounds good.
18:33I'll be 10-12.
18:34Good job, Pagari.
18:38So it sounds like Trooper Pagari just found a vehicle that is registered to our suspect
18:43at one of her relative's houses.
18:4622, it's 10-23.
18:50They're on the backside of the house.
18:52It's right there.
18:52Got it.
18:58Bring your car up.
19:19We were able to get warrants for the two adults that were supposed to be taking care of.
19:25A four-year-old little girl who had suffered abuse and starvation.
19:30The child died in the hospital, and her death was ruled a homicide.
19:34Hey, make sure you show us your hands coming out.
19:37Show us your hands.
19:39It's me.
19:40Okay, walk out towards me.
19:42Walk out towards me.
19:44Can you get a dog?
19:46Is that?
19:47No.
19:48Okay, forget the dog for a moment.
19:51Come towards me.
19:52Walk towards me.
19:53Keep your hands where I can see them.
19:55I'm just hurting myself in.
19:57Okay.
19:58Walk towards me.
20:00All right, I want you to stop for just a moment.
20:03Turn around and face away from me.
20:07Lift the back of your shirt so I know you don't have any weapons.
20:10Okay?
20:11I don't have nothing.
20:12Hands up still and walk backwards towards me.
20:16Keep coming.
20:1822.
20:19I'm not going to resist.
20:20I'm not.
20:20I'm coming.
20:21Keep coming back towards me.
20:22Keep coming back towards me.
20:24You're going to put her behind this and turn her towards our right.
20:26Step over here.
20:28Step right there.
20:30Okay.
20:31I'm not.
20:32I'm okay.
20:33I'm turning myself in.
20:34I had plans to.
20:36We don't know.
20:37Don't point your gun.
20:38I'm not pointing it at you, dude.
20:40Go in the house.
20:42I have one arm.
20:43I'm four foot of
20:44at it, dude.
20:45You just have to let.
20:46Can I just tell him to go in?
20:47Go with Tripp or Fouts.
20:48We will take care of the rest of that.
20:50Okay.
20:50Okay.
20:50Where is the?
20:52I've got to talk to my lawyer.
20:54He said not to answer any questions.
20:56Well, that's not really an incriminating question.
20:58It's just me.
20:59I know, but he just said that.
21:01Okay.
21:02All I want to do is make sure that goes in just like you did.
21:05Safe and sound.
21:06I do, too.
21:07Okay?
21:07I do, too.
21:08Is he here right now?
21:10I can't answer any questions.
21:12Okay.
21:12Go have a seat.
21:13He's here.
21:13Okay.
21:14Would you like to come talk to me, sir?
21:16Hey, is that?
21:16Hang on.
21:17Is that a knife in your pocket?
21:18It's a branch.
21:19I just changed the book here.
21:19Can you just drop it right there?
21:21Just keep your hands out of your pockets for me, okay?
21:23Just step right here for me.
21:25Man, why are you guys pointing automatic rifles at me?
21:28It's not.
21:28It's semi-automatic.
21:30In the house.
21:32Um, yes.
21:32Okay.
21:33Is he going to come out peacefully to us?
21:35Yes.
21:35Okay.
21:36I'm going to have you turn around and face away from me.
21:38You are not under arrest, but you are going to be detained until we get this all figured out.
21:41That's fine.
21:42My dog's really friendly, too.
21:46This is the Alaska State Troopers.
21:48You have a warrant for your arrest.
21:50We know you're inside the house.
21:52You need to exit the front door with your hands empty and where I can see them.
21:59We are not leaving.
22:01Come out the front door with your hands empty.
22:06If you do not exit the residence, we have chemical munitions, including lethal tools.
22:14Please exit the residence with your hands empty so we can take care of this warrant.
22:22Open doors.
22:25Hey!
22:25Keep your hands up.
22:27Walk towards me.
22:30All right, you're going to come over here in this driveway and we're going to take it nice
22:33and slow, okay?
22:34Stop right there and face away from me.
22:37And I want you to walk backwards towards the sound of my voice, all right?
22:40Keep coming towards me.
22:44Keep coming, keep coming, keep coming.
22:47All right, don't move unless I tell you to understand.
22:55We've been working this around the clock for 26, 27 hours now, so it feels good to put
23:01this one together, especially considering the age of the victim in this case.
23:05This is somebody who, you know, had nobody there for her, so for us to be able to go get
23:10a little bit of justice for her is good.
23:19They may look innocent and normal enough, but right now they're charged with murder and
23:24several other felony charges, so it's pretty serious stuff.
23:43So, I just got a tip, a female that has a warrant for her arrest for cutting her ankle monitor
23:52off.
23:53It's a felony warrant.
23:54We received a tip that she's at the library.
23:57It's reported that she's driving a red Kia Sportage.
24:01We have an unmarked unit that has eyes on it right now.
24:06So, she's got the right false info, known to carry a folded knife on her front bra strap,
24:12known death user, death two, false report, name five, false report, UI makes four, direct
24:18path from Lakeview Road, technical violations, so she cut off her ankle monitor, and she's
24:24on probation.
24:26She cut off her ankle monitor.
24:28She did it for a reason.
24:30Clearly, she doesn't want to go back to jail.
24:32This is Alaska, and we expect everyone to have a gun, so I need to be prepared just in case
24:37if that goes that way.
24:51We received a tip that a female that has a felony warrant is at the library.
24:57She just ran back inside the library.
24:59Like, she's, like, in a hurry, because she's, like, running across the parking lot.
25:03All right.
25:04I'm in the parking lot, just waiting for it to leave.
25:07Okay.
25:08Is there anybody else in the car with her that we know?
25:10Uh, there's another female passenger.
25:12Another female.
25:15She is slowly backing up.
25:17All right.
25:18We're moving in.
25:18Yeah, you might as well just go get her.
25:20Uh, units, go ahead and move in.
25:41Hey, let me see your hands!
25:43Hands off!
25:44Hands off!
25:45Hands off!
25:46I can see you.
25:47Slowly step out of the vehicle.
26:02Don't move, okay?
26:07Hey, passenger!
26:09Go ahead and step out!
26:11Let me see your hands!
26:13Yeah, leave the dog.
26:16Walk in between there.
26:26Is there anybody else in the car?
26:27No, it's just my dog.
26:28Okay.
26:29So you're not in trouble or anything.
26:30It's just, uh, precaution.
26:32So, so she has a warrant.
26:33So that's why, okay?
26:34What's your answer?
26:36Is there anything inside the car I should know about?
26:40No.
26:41Okay.
26:42So, if you don't have any warrants or anything like that, we'll let you go, okay?
26:47Oh, it sounded like she got a warrant, too.
26:50Yeah, that sucks.
26:52She obviously stuffed a dime bag in the, like, center dashboard area.
26:57Just impound the car into a warrant.
26:59All right.
27:00So there's a white, uh, baggie.
27:03If you look underneath the radio.
27:05Can I call somebody to come get my car?
27:07Yeah, I wouldn't see why not.
27:10I'm getting arrested right now.
27:12Someone needs to be here in 28 minutes to get the dogs, because the tow truck's on the way.
27:20Someone came up, picked up the dogs, so we didn't have to call animal control, which was awesome.
27:25At this point, we're waiting on a tow truck to impound the vehicle, pending a further search warrant.
27:41Today, my warrant was approved.
27:43I'll be conducting a full vehicle search.
27:52There was a, uh, little drug kit.
27:54There was tinfoil.
27:55There's baggies.
27:56A partially loaded needle.
27:58A meth pipe.
28:00This gray purse belongs to the passenger, which I just discovered her ID in her wallet.
28:06There was a, uh, interesting looking box that's taped and it says Pandora on it.
28:11I can see what appears to be a small drug kit.
28:14I thought this was probably heroin, pure fentanyl, between four to five grams.
28:20So for a typical user amount, it's about 0.03 grams.
28:25So we're getting into hundreds of doses.
28:28It definitely feels good to get this off the streets.
28:56I'm trooper Scott McAfee with the Criminal Suppression Unit.
29:00I have K-9 Kenny.
29:01I'm his handler.
29:02K-9 Kenny is a Belgian Malinois.
29:05He's certified on the detection of odors of cocaine, heroin, methamphetamine, and fentanyl.
29:12K-9 Kenny is instrumental in bridging the gap between reasonable suspicion and probable cause.
29:19If you have reasonable suspicion that there's drugs in that car right now, you can run the dog on the
29:24car.
29:24That process includes Kenny just searching the exterior of the vehicle for the odors of those four narcotics.
29:31And if he locates that odors, he'll sit, indicate, and then that's him telling you, hey, I found one of
29:37these four odors.
29:38And then you can apply for the search warrant to search that vehicle for those drugs.
29:44I'll let you guys know when he leaves right now.
29:47Looks like he's just sitting in the driver's seat, maybe on his phone or something.
29:50All right, so we're heading over to kind of staging the area of this Airbnb.
29:56Drug unit wants us to come over and contact this suspected drug dealer as he leaves his Airbnb.
30:04The guy's got a warrant for his arrest for driving with a revoked license.
30:07Yeah, they got information that he's selling fentanyl, so we will stop the vehicle and then use K-9 Kenny
30:15to conduct a sniff for narcotic odors, and we'll go from there.
30:30He's coming right at us.
30:58Do you have a driver's license today?
31:02Because I know that you don't have a driver's license.
31:05Can I see your identification, please?
31:07You are operating a motor vehicle on a roadway in Alaska, and you're required by law to do that.
31:13You're driving without a valid license.
31:15He's also got a warrant.
31:17Bill here to appear for arraignment for original charge of driving with a canceled license.
31:22It's a $100 warrant.
31:25Who said I got a warrant?
31:26Who am I?
31:28Who am I?
31:30Okay, hey, block him in from the front.
31:31Move your car.
31:32I'm not going nowhere.
31:33Go.
31:46You can be placed under arrest.
31:49Okay, talk to your lawyer.
31:51No, I am it.
31:54I am the ship's supervisor today.
31:58I'm Sergeant Altapeter.
32:00My badge number is 73.
32:02Sir, who's the attorney you're talking to?
32:04I think that they will give you the legal guidance to follow the law.
32:08If they don't, they could be charged for the crime.
32:13If it makes it better, you're welcome to step out and smoke a cigarette.
32:16I'm not going to stop you from smoking, but you are under arrest.
32:19Is there anything I can say or do to get you to step out of the car right now?
32:23Sir, once I have to use force to remove you from the car, you will be charged with the additional
32:28crime of resisting arrest.
32:30Do you understand?
32:35There is the copy of the warrant.
32:37I need you to exit the vehicle for me.
32:38Go and exit the vehicle now or I'm going to break the window and take you out.
32:50Is there anything I can say or do to get you to exit the vehicle before I have to break
32:56the window?
32:59I'm showing you the warrant.
33:01Do you see your information on the warrant?
33:03Looking away isn't going to help read the warrant.
33:07Boys look away.
33:08Three, two, one.
33:14Out of the car.
33:15Out of the car.
33:15Bro, are you serious?
33:18Okay, stop pinsing up and pulling the white pie.
33:20Roll them on the snow.
33:21Dude.
33:22Dude, are you serious?
33:26Man, this is crazy, bro.
33:29This is crazy.
33:31Hey, dude.
33:32I'm going to sit you up on your butt, okay?
33:35You got me on the snow, man?
33:40Man, you got a warrant for your arrest.
33:42We've been out here for a half hour trying to get you out of the car.
33:45Oh, come on, man.
33:49Bro, I'm sitting in the cold on the snow.
33:53Man, this is insane, man.
33:56Bro, this is insane.
33:58This is what y'all do?
34:00We would have preferred you to step out and deal with it.
34:04Can y'all turn the heat on back here?
34:05I'm cold as s***.
34:10Heat's on, set to a nice crisp 70.
34:12All right.
34:12Let's turn up the heat.
34:16There's tinfoil, there's pipes.
34:18You want to put the dog on?
34:18Are you all right?
34:19Everybody get it, first of all?
34:20Okay.
34:21We're under no legal obligation to show him a warrant for his arrest before we arrest him.
34:27We did that, though, tried to avoid doing what we had to do.
34:31But even after showing him, he made his choice and he doubled down on it.
34:34And so we had to do what we had to do to get him out.
34:40Who's?
34:41Platz.
34:47Here's it.
35:08Good boy.
35:09Good boy.
35:09Nice guy.
35:11Log in.
35:18Positive indication.
35:19So, at this point, we'll apply for a search warrant and search it and go from there.
35:27Yeah, I'm pretty confident there's going to be something in there.
35:30Well, you have the canine indication, which is the biggest thing.
35:35But also, you look at his behavior.
35:37It's not normal to argue with him for a half hour.
35:40Just trying to get him to comply peacefully.
35:43He had a warrant for his arrest and we'll see what we get in the car.
36:08It's so funny.
36:09Look at them, dude.
36:10They're ripping, son.
36:14Yeehaw.
36:16You'll see a lot of times vehicles, they'll be driving on the roadway and they're not supposed
36:20to be driving on the roadway.
36:22They'll see law enforcement and they will immediately get on a trail.
36:28Trail systems are very unique to Alaska.
36:30So, you don't need a license to drive on a trail.
36:34So, a lot of people that don't have a valid driver's license, they'll drive their vehicles
36:38on these trail systems.
36:39And avoidance for us to not stop them.
36:47I'm going to stop this van here.
36:49It's got, like, no exhaust on it.
37:06It's about to piss.
37:07Can we let my dog out?
37:08We stopped to let my dog out.
37:10It's about to piss.
37:10Yeah.
37:11Do you have a driver's license on you, man?
37:12No, no, no.
37:14Okay, that's why he pumps over.
37:16Yeah, you don't have any exhaust on this thing.
37:17Huh?
37:18Hey.
37:19Oh, .
37:19Come on.
37:21Do you have an ID on you?
37:22Me?
37:23Yeah.
37:23I do.
37:24What about a buddy in the back?
37:26Hey, bro, you got an ID on you?
37:28Yeah.
37:30All right, we can do this one or two ways.
37:31You can get out and get detained, and we can figure that out, or you can just give me
37:33your name.
37:35All right, hop out.
37:37Just give me your name.
37:39Hop out.
37:40Just give me your name.
37:41Hop out.
37:42I'm not asking you.
37:43I'm telling you.
37:43Get out of the car.
37:47I'm not asking you.
37:48I'm telling you.
37:48I'm telling you.
37:49Get out of the car.
37:51Put your hands on your back.
37:55November 66, 1068.
37:56Copy that.
37:57When's the last time you used, bud?
37:58I don't use it.
37:59You don't use?
38:00There's two distrails sitting next to you, and you can't control your hands.
38:02What?
38:03And I can't control my hands?
38:05Yeah.
38:05I think my hands are perfectly controlled.
38:10What's going on?
38:12Well, you're detained right now.
38:17You're under arrest.
38:18What?
38:19For your warrants.
38:20I have a warrant.
38:21You got two.
38:22You got one for theft, too.
38:24Then you have a felony $7,500 one for fail to comply with your conditions of release for
38:30probation.
38:33Oh.
38:34Drivers also had a warrant.
38:42You mind hopping out for me?
38:46All right.
38:47You mind putting your hands on your back?
38:48What?
38:49You got a warrant, bud, for theft.
38:50I went to court and I paid my bail for that like a week ago.
38:54The bail's $100, right?
38:56No.
38:57It's not.
38:59Driver and passenger had warrants.
39:02Passenger in the back.
39:03As soon as we stopped, car's shaking like someone's jumping to the back.
39:05He didn't want to identify.
39:07So I'm going to take someone who's being non-compliant out of the equation.
39:10Kind of found out he had two felony warrants.
39:12Once we got the driver identified, found out that he also had a misdemeanor warrant for
39:17theft.
39:17So both of them are going to be going to jail today.
39:20Hey.
39:21No.
39:22Don't pay my bail and you take the car back to the house.
39:24Wait, what?
39:25Pay the bail.
39:26Okay.
39:27You can take it back to wherever.
39:29Okay.
39:30Okay.
39:31Yep.
39:48My name's Trooper Lausch.
39:50I've been an Alaskan State Trooper for about a year now since leaving the academy in Sitka.
39:55I enjoy getting the opportunity post my military career to continue serving the community that
40:00my family fell in love with up here.
40:07This is kind of strange.
40:09There's a couple of guys here.
40:10They've been here for like the last half hour.
40:12And it appears that they are butchering a moose or a caribou or something.
40:16Kind of an odd spot to butcher whatever the heck it is that they're butchering.
40:20Because we're in the city and it's a bank under the teller window.
40:26Well, hey.
40:28Do you have permission from be here butchering an animal in their drive-through lot?
40:32No, sir.
40:33No?
40:35What made you guys pick this just because of light?
40:37Yeah, cool.
40:37Okay.
40:38Light and rain.
40:39Where'd you guys get the moose from?
40:40Up north.
40:41Nice.
40:41It looks like a pretty good rack on them.
40:43That looks like a decent moose.
40:44We're leaving tonight trying to get our stuff together.
40:46The plane leaves the two and jumps through our butts trying to get some stuff done.
40:50Where are you guys from?
40:51Oklahoma.
40:51Oklahoma?
40:52Do you mind if I get y'all's IDs?
40:53Yeah.
40:55AWT, the Alaska Wildlife Troopers, they're going to come by and just make sure that everything's
40:59kosher.
41:00Gentlemen, typically going into businesses, private property, and like butchering animals,
41:06frowned upon.
41:09But I'll let them adjudicate it.
41:11We're going to pick up all their stuff, you know?
41:12I got you.
41:16Were you guys out there, what, a week?
41:18Uh, more like two.
41:19I shot him on the last day and...
41:20Attaboy.
41:21It's the only little bull we saw in 15 days, but...
41:24It's been a pretty slim moose hunt.
41:26Saw four or five grizzlies, like nine wolves.
41:29Yeah.
41:29A few sheep.
41:30Mm-hmm.
41:32So these are the AWT guys?
41:34Hello.
41:35How you doing?
41:35It's raining, and we needed the light on a time crutch.
41:40Trooper, you guys go check all your fake pork and stuff.
41:42Okay.
41:44So you do have to have the non-resident moose hunter education course certificate in your
41:49possession while you're hunting moose.
41:50That's a non-resident?
41:52The course online?
41:53Yeah.
41:53And there were connection problems.
41:55Okay.
41:55I was having all kinds of problems with them.
41:57Gentlemen, congrats.
41:58You guys came out and had successful hunts?
42:00Mine is chicken, but I guess it would be worse.
42:04Could be worse.
42:04It's a little souvenir for the hunt of your lifetime.
42:07I mean, when you mount it, it's put right on the back of the box.
42:10Have it as a watermark in the back?
42:12Yeah.
42:12Y'all are full of great ideas.
42:21They were out here doing it right.
42:23They missed one step.
42:24It'll be a little reminder.
42:25They'll hang it on the wall under that beautiful moose rack that they got.
42:30Cleaning game animals.
42:31The business is a drive-thru lot.
42:33I understand the reason.
42:35But, yeah, it's strange, which the whole reason we came by.
42:39Just chalk it up to the strange.
42:40It's strange.
42:46You'll have to be a little bit more.
42:46I'm going to see you in the back of the book.
