00:07It's very exciting, we're here to announce our new capability and that is our new aviation
00:14capability of the drones here in Moree which are being trialled for a six month period.
00:26We know that these drones have the capacity unlike our other air wing capabilities, our
00:34planes and our helicopters because they are obviously a lot more agile. They launch from
00:41the roof here in response to an emergency call and they are able to feed back that live
00:47information both to the central monitoring at our aviation wing in Bankstown and also
00:54here to our officers on the ground.
01:00Being able to remotely control these devices is a real game changer.
01:07This trial will demonstrate, I am sure, that where we have that capacity we can assist to
01:12reduce crime in regional areas. It is a really exciting time.
01:27We are similar to lots of other rural areas where we do have a higher crime rate and our
01:33community has been fed up with that but we are absolutely delighted that the Minister, the
01:39Commissioner have all heard our cries and are responding.
01:42We operated, this is not about surveillance. I think there has been a lot of that around.
01:46The way that we will use these is exactly the same way that we use manned aircraft. Whether
01:51it's helicopters or planes, we use them for the same purpose. This is not about looking at individuals.
