00:16So it feels like quite a big responsibility because obviously the Scottish selection is
00:21very important and I am quite excited to vote actually because I find myself quite
00:26interested in politics. It feels like quite a lot of pressure as well to like
00:29make the right decision.
00:30Yeah, it's really exciting. I'm glad to finally be represented in politics and being
00:36able to vote for the candidate in the party that we believe should be in power.
00:40It's very exciting but then again when you think about it in a way like let's say if all
00:46my friends vote and then there's like a bunch of other 16, 17 years old voting, I think that
00:52really makes a big difference. So when you think about it in that way I think it can get
00:56a bit nerve-wracking but it also feels good to be a part of it.
01:03I think economy is a big one because obviously we're going to be going into the job market.
01:11One issue I'm particularly interested in is the NHS especially in rural areas like the
01:17Highlands.
01:18If prices, if housing continues to rise consistently that could have a negative impact when I look
01:24to buy and rent in the future.
01:26The education as I'm going to uni next year is something that I am more concerned about.
01:31Coming from the Highlands like transport's a really big thing and I feel the benefit of
01:35having you know access to free bus travel.
01:43You know when you think about politics the first thing that usually comes to your mind
01:46is like oh it's like old people stuff, I'll deal with it when I'm older. But again politicians
01:53and political parties don't really do much to make themselves more appealing to the younger
01:58generation.
01:59Do a whole unit on the importance of democracy and how our country is governed and I feel
02:07like that definitely helped us become a lot more engaged with politics.
02:11There's a divide in between like how my parents would view politics like they're reading about
02:15it in the newspaper and they're maybe well I mean depending on the newspaper they're getting
02:19like hard facts whereas maybe for like people in my generation it's seen as something that's
02:23like funny or like you see like a lot of memes and things.
02:26I don't think that young people today are as engaged as they should be but I think that's
02:31also partly to do with politicians and parties not really trying to engage with the young
02:39people as much as they should.
02:40That's amazing.
