00:03Are Coles discounts fair dinkum?
00:05Aussie shoppers weigh in.
00:07The worst thing the supermarkets ever did was the introduction of these fake discounts.
00:14It's one of the biggest scams that ever hit the markets.
00:17I know basically the prices of things over many, many, many years of shopping that I've done.
00:22And in particular the laundry detergents, soaps, toiletries basically.
00:27And I remember the old prices, and then when they introduced these special discounts,
00:34in inverted commas, the discount price is virtually the old price that I used to pay.
00:39It's very frustrating, I think it's very wrong.
00:42But they should do this to the people and take us all for fools.
00:45Well I don't take any, I shop at Coles, I don't take any notice of those that down down.
00:50Because I, unfortunately I'm blessed with a good memory, so I remember prices and I know what I want to
00:56buy.
00:58I firmly believe they're more ethical than Woolworths, but that's just me.
01:02And I don't like Aldi.
01:04Do you trust the major supermarkets?
01:06I don't trust, there's only a few people in the world I trust.
01:09Certainly not the CEOs of supermarkets.
01:12Oh shit no.
01:12I heard that Coles is having problems about the discounting.
01:19They should support more of the pensioners.
01:22I worked for more than 40 years, and then it's not enough for the pension that I got.
01:28So we cannot afford to buy them always.
01:32Just we do the budgeting.
01:34But trying to save their prices.
01:36It's sad to say that I can't save everybody else.
01:40My children are struggling.
01:42What I do is I go and only buy when the discounts are up.
01:45Which is like a 50% discount.
01:47So I know I'm paying the correct price.
01:49But most vulnerable people, or people that don't have the time,
01:52or people that have families and kids and other things to worry,
01:55and mortgages, and the political situation currently in Australia,
01:58have those things to worry about.
02:00They don't.
02:01So they go shopping whenever they need.
02:02And they're compelled to pay that higher premium price.
