00:09The Chinese multinational is marking its 20th anniversary in France,
00:14celebrating a lot of strategic partnership, innovative solution released in the French market to date.
00:21What have been for you the key milestones and achievements of Weiwei France over the past two decades?
00:27Yeah, hello, Thomas. Very nice to meet you, and thank you very much for inviting me.
00:32So actually, this year is the 20th anniversary, as you said, for Huawei France.
00:37So actually, Huawei is established in 2003 in France, and the first contract that we signed was with Nerve Telecom.
00:47At that year, I was a student, I studied in France 20 years ago.
00:53So I was also the customer of Nerve Telecom.
00:55So this is a very coincidence.
00:58After 10 years, Huawei set up the first R&D centers in Sofianti Police to create our camera technology.
01:10For the 17th is the year that I take the position as the president of Huawei in France.
01:15And during my duties in France, we successfully set up also one open lab,
01:23who is capable to help the industry, our customer partner, to create the innovation of our solution in the industry.
01:31And in 2021, we just announced that we are going to build the first factory that was wireless product for
01:40the telecom factory out of China.
01:42And on the top of this, there is also another program we call Digital Imports.
01:49I can introduce also later.
01:51But this program, during 10 years, we have almost 90 startups around Huawei to have the innovation with us together.
02:00With all that has been done in the past 20 years, what does innovation mean for Huawei now?
02:06Innovation means a lot of things.
02:08I think for Huawei, the principle, two very important stuff.
02:13One is the investment.
02:15The commitment and the investment.
02:16Because when people talk about the innovation, it's very hard just to talk about the idea without any investment.
02:24But for Huawei, since 20 years in France, we have more than 300 people, researchers, doctors, working in our R
02:35&D centers.
02:36We are in the six R&D centers in France.
02:38And the amount, the total amount in France during the last 10 years is around 350 million euros.
02:48And in the global company of our Huawei globally, company every year, we invest more than 15% of our
02:57revenue in the R&D centers.
02:59I think so the first thing is the investment.
03:01And the second thing for us is the ecosystem.
03:04Before, we can say that we are innovated by ourselves.
03:08This is 20 years ago.
03:10So every product, every gadget, the cell phone is created by ourselves.
03:14But today, it is very hard to say that you can have the innovation by yourself.
03:18You have to work totally in the plug of the ecosystem.
03:23Today, we have a very good ecosystem, which is 89 startup working around Huawei.
03:30I give you some example, one example is Datai Koo, who is a startup win our price in 2014.
03:38He is working in the AI technology and also a data science.
03:42Yeah.
03:42And today, he got a phone of 3.9 billion US dollars.
03:48So after working with Huawei.
03:50So this is a very good example.
03:51In a few words, what's your vision of the future of ICTs?
03:56I think ICT in the future is very important to support the new applications and technology.
04:02Today, we talk a lot about chat GPT, autonomous driving.
04:07All these new applications need a very solid and fragile infrastructure.
04:14And today, I think for the infrastructure, we need to think about two things.
04:17How make the infrastructure more intelligent to support the new applications?
04:23The second one is how we can make infrastructure more green.
04:26Because the more application we use, the more energy we are going to use.
04:30But to avoid this, we have to innovate a lot to save the energy and also to use the green
04:35energy.
