The Last Rice Rituals of Tokyo’s 23 Wards

In Tokyo’s 23 wards, where rice fields have long disappeared, two rare Ta-asobi rituals still survive.
Preserved at Tokumaru Kitano Shrine and Akatsuka Suwa Shrine, these ancient ceremonies pray for harvest and protection through symbolic farming, straw figures, and lion dances.
