00:02Working with Cappy is never a dull moment.
00:04Tanner has a passion for riding.
00:06Their bikes, four-wheelers.
00:08That's super cool.
00:09You could build us something to haul everything all at once.
00:12Where we could camp and store bikes, gear, four-wheelers.
00:15School bus.
00:16What?
00:19What's up, buttercup?
00:23Please pay attention to all the school bus rules.
00:28What is your plan with this?
00:29This is your new adventure bus.
00:31Nice.
00:33But I think we just surprised Madison.
00:35That's great.
00:36Yes.
00:38No, stop with us now.
00:41Oh, my gosh.
00:44My given name is Jared Cappy.
00:48But everyone calls me Cappy.
00:50This is probably one of the coolest things I've ever done.
00:52Everyone, Claire, I've been a professional builder
00:55for over 15 years.
00:57Woo-hoo!
00:57But I've recently teamed up with my daughter, Alex.
01:00Whoa.
01:01It looks so good in here.
01:03We specialize in transforming unconventional objects.
01:06Whoa!
01:08I'm awake now.
01:09What if we did use a plane?
01:11Wait, really?
01:11All right, Alex.
01:12She's all yours.
01:14Into one-of-a-kind creations.
01:15This is no she shed.
01:17This is no she shed.
01:18This has turned into a she palace.
01:20Oh, my God.
01:21And we get to do it for our favorite people.
01:24Love you.
01:25Love you.
01:26That is so beautiful.
01:28Oh, my gosh.
01:28Look at it.
01:29Look at it.
01:29But the best part is we get to do it together.
01:46Waking up every day in South Dakota is a blessing, and I love my little hometown.
01:52It's peaceful and quiet, but some days I need to stop building and just cut loose.
01:58Perfect.
01:59Dude.
02:00Dude.
02:01Dude.
02:03Pretty slick, huh?
02:05Holy crap.
02:07Oh, awesome.
02:14You're a beast.
02:17Dude.
02:19Let's see why you like that.
02:20That's lots of fun, huh?
02:22That's super cool.
02:24My riding buddy today is also one of my favorite guys to work with.
02:28Tanner's my go-to long hauler.
02:30He wants me to go pick up an airplane or part of an airplane or something like that.
02:36Working with Cappy is always interesting.
02:38It's never a dull moment, whether it's a joke or just his goofy personality.
02:43He's just Cappy.
02:45Dude.
02:45That's the best way to describe him.
02:47He's just his own thing.
02:49Tanner has a passion for riding.
02:51Actually, a couple years ago, I sold him a little dirt bike that would be his girlfriend
02:55Madison's first motorcycle.
02:57I've known Madison for seven years.
03:01We are engaged.
03:02We just haven't set a date.
03:03We haven't had time to get married.
03:05A couple weeks ago, you told me you take the camper with you and your truck.
03:09And then you said Maddie sometimes takes the bikes in her truck.
03:12Yep.
03:12So you don't get to actually drive together.
03:15It depends on where we're going and how far we're going.
03:18If it's more than four hours, we put one on the back of the camper and one or two inside
03:23the camper.
03:25In the...
03:26In the living room.
03:27I take the handlebars off and push it through the door.
03:32What do you strap them to?
03:34We've got a table on the one side I can pull down to.
03:37And then there's an anchor point on the bottom of the fridge where the fridge is mounted that I can
03:41tie one bike to.
03:45Your fiancee is a saint, dude.
03:47She puts up with a lot.
03:49Gosh.
03:49Maybe one of these days you could build us something to haul everything all at once.
03:54Yeah, maybe.
03:55And all your free time you have.
03:57Maybe we could.
03:58All right, cowboy.
03:59I'll let you get back to it.
04:00Alex is here to pick me up.
04:02Thanks, brother.
04:03Yeah, of course.
04:04We'll see you next time.
04:05All right.
04:05Thanks, dude.
04:07Hey, kiddo.
04:08Hello.
04:10How's it going?
04:11Good.
04:11How was your mandate with Tanner?
04:14Awesome.
04:14Yeah.
04:15It's been a minute since I was on a dirt bike.
04:17Mom would not have liked it.
04:19Tanner was just explaining the logistical nightmare he and Madison face when they head out on their adventures.
04:24When they go somewhere, Tanner pulls the camper.
04:28Madison puts the dirt bikes in the back of her truck.
04:31They don't actually get to road trip together.
04:33Oh, together.
04:34Okay.
04:35I don't know if you know this.
04:35They're getting married.
04:36Did I tell you this?
04:37No.
04:38They're getting married.
04:38Well, congratulations.
04:39Yeah, super fun.
04:41It occurred to me that we could build the perfect early wedding present for them.
04:45Yeah?
04:46I got an idea.
04:47Okay.
04:47Hit me.
04:48School bus.
04:50What?
04:51Okay.
04:51No, no.
04:52Check it out.
04:52What if we chopped it in half and turned the back half into a trailer deck and the front
04:58half into an RV?
05:00That's not a bad idea.
05:02Used buses are super affordable.
05:04Check it out.
05:06And we got, like, wheels are right here, you know?
05:09This is going to be the bus.
05:11I'm going to chop it off on the back, on the front.
05:15So we could do, like, ramps.
05:17So they could ride the bikes up and park on the ramps.
05:20What about the deck?
05:21Like, when the toys aren't on it, is there a way that we can make it into, like, a hangout
05:27space?
05:27That'd be cool.
05:28What were Madison's wants and needs here?
05:32So, super fun.
05:33Madison wasn't there.
05:34Oh.
05:35Madison doesn't know anything about this.
05:36But we'll have to get Tanner involved because we're going to need his help on this one.
05:40But I think we just surprised Madison.
05:42That's great.
05:43Maybe we can rig this up to be, like, their honeymoon bus.
05:46Oh, cute.
05:47Yeah, this is really important to me.
05:49Like, Tanner is an absolute sweetheart, and he loves Madison more than life.
05:52Being able to give Tanner and Madison something that they can use, that I know they'll have
05:57adventures in, that I know they'll appreciate good people.
06:00The only thing I'm thinking about is the inside, right?
06:04That would be really cool is to have you put all your magic on the inside.
06:08Gotcha.
06:08And make it just phenomenal.
06:12Like, couldn't tell it was a bus if you didn't know.
06:14Gotcha.
06:14Like, super fluffy and beautiful and relaxing.
06:18Okay.
06:18Yeah.
06:18All right, kid.
06:19I like it.
06:21The plan is to convert a full-size school bus into a luxury RV that can also haul all of
06:27Madison and Tanner's motorized toys.
06:29We'll cut out the middle of the body and slide the back end forward while leaving the chassis
06:35intact.
06:36Then, on the back of the bus, we'll create a space for transporting all of their bikes and
06:41ATVs that also transforms into a comfortable outdoor lounge.
06:47Alex will focus on the interior, customizing it with a comfy queen-size bed, plenty of space
06:53for storage, and an upscale dining area.
06:55The ultimate glamping getaway for the bride and groom to be.
07:03Where would we get said bus?
07:05I'd like to go talk to Travis at the bus barn, your old bus driver.
07:09I'm hoping he's got one that'll work for what we're doing.
07:12Gotcha.
07:13He's gotta have something.
07:14Oh, yeah.
07:14He'll sell us.
07:15But I think this should be super fun.
07:16I love it.
07:17Thank you for the ride, my dear.
07:19Yep.
07:19I will catch up with you in a little bit.
07:20Okay.
07:20Okay, bye.
07:21Bye.
07:36Bye.
07:36Need a bus?
07:38In Spearfish, this place provides buses for schools, tours, events, you name it.
07:43And that means they're constantly putting new buses on the road and selling off the used
07:47ones.
07:48That's exactly what I need.
07:51Hey, brother.
07:52Cappy, how are you, brother?
07:54Since the owner, Travis, was Sprout's fourth grade bus driver, well, I feel like we've gotten
08:00in.
08:00How many vehicles do you have at one time in service?
08:03In service is probably about 40.
08:05Wow.
08:06Yep.
08:06Thanks for entertaining this, this playing with me.
08:08We have this amazing couple, love adventure.
08:11What we wanted to do for them was to take the full-size school bus, chop 10 feet out of
08:18the middle, and then slide the tail up.
08:21So we're essentially putting a short bus on a full-size bus chassis so I can turn it into
08:26a toy hauler.
08:27Okay.
08:27I've never cut a bus in half.
08:28They're built.
08:29Yeah.
08:30Are you up for that challenge?
08:31Because it's, it's, I can tell you a fire department broke some tools doing this.
08:36What tools?
08:37Now, now all I want to know is what tools you broke with.
08:41Okay.
08:41How long is one of these?
08:4435 to 38 feet.
08:46My thought here is to cut from here, just four to the axle, out.
08:53Probably to here.
08:54And then they'll have a place to load up the dirt bikes and hang out with the barbecue grill
08:57and roll up at the lake and live their best life.
09:01This?
09:02Yeah, this I want to see.
09:02This is going to be neat.
09:03If this one's available, I'll take this one.
09:06Let's get you in it and get you out of here with it.
09:08I like it.
09:09It's been a minute since I drove a school bus.
09:12A minute?
09:12Yeah.
09:13Just a minute.
09:14Retired buses like this are often sold at a discount, which is good because we're going
09:19to slice this thing up anyway.
09:22This is going to be fun.
09:43What's up, MotherCup?
09:49You got this without me?
09:51I'm offended, Cap.
09:55Went up and saw Travis, your old bus driver.
09:57Wait.
09:58I legit think this is the bus I used to take when I was younger.
10:02No way.
10:03Yeah.
10:04It was the fish bus.
10:05That is awesome.
10:07That's crazy.
10:09Want to see the inside?
10:10Yeah.
10:10Check it out.
10:13We're going to cut all these seats out.
10:15Okay.
10:15We're going to clean up all the tin up there.
10:17We'll be able to run some wiring and stuff in there.
10:19I'm excited, but I have school in like 15 minutes.
10:22All right.
10:23Get your bag.
10:23We're out of here.
10:27Feels real weird.
10:28And the weird part is that it smells the exact same as it did.
10:33Okay.
10:34Please pay attention to all the school bus rules.
10:36Always listen to the bus driver.
10:38That's the first rule to tell you to know.
10:42You want to drive?
10:43No.
10:44No.
10:54I dropped off Sprout and now I'm taking this bus to Rodney's shop.
10:58He's on a remote job out of town and letting me use his space to transform this old school
11:03bus into a toy hauling RV.
11:06So I'm a little more nervous after talking to Travis.
11:09They actually damaged and broke equipment trying to get into a school bus.
11:14You never really think about it when you see a bus driving down the road, but they're really, really sturdy.
11:20This one might trip us up a little bit, but we'll get it done.
11:27Let's go.
11:28Let's go.
11:28Let's go.
11:28Let's go.
11:29Let's go.
11:30Let's go.
11:30Let's go.
11:31Let's go.
11:32Let's go.
11:34Step one is clearing the deck.
11:42With something like 24 seats, each one fastened down by 20 bolts.
11:48There's almost 500 bolts to pull all of these seats out.
11:55And most of them are rusted in and so sometimes you have to use a grinder, sometimes use a drill.
12:11It's a good thing I have help on the way.
12:17What have you got going on with this thing?
12:19Hi, buddy.
12:21What is your plan with this?
12:22This is your new adventure bus.
12:25You're kidding.
12:28That is awesome.
12:29We're going to make you a toy hauler adventure bus.
12:32So then you don't have to try to drag the trailer and the camper.
12:35Yep.
12:35And Matty brings the bike.
12:36So you guys have to have two trucks every time you guys go play.
12:39Every time we go anywhere.
12:40Yep.
12:41So now you don't have to have that.
12:43That sounds fantastic.
12:44That's awesome.
12:45What do you think?
12:46That's crazy.
12:47I can tell you're in shock.
12:49But I need your help for the first part.
12:50Okay.
12:51You don't get to help me for the second part.
12:52All right.
12:52Because it needs to be a surprise for you too.
12:54I need Tanner's sweat equity for this one.
12:57But it's still going to be a full-on surprise for his fiancee Madison.
13:01I got a buddy Charles that's coming to help us as well this morning.
13:03Nice.
13:04Yeah, let me get this party started.
13:05Sounds good.
13:07My buddy Charles, he's a mechanic.
13:09He used to drive school buses.
13:10He used to work on school buses.
13:12He is the perfect ringer to bring in to chop this thing in half and make Tanner and Madison
13:18an adventure bus.
13:23What's that buddy?
13:24What you got going on in here?
13:26Lots of bolts.
13:27Yeah.
13:28A couple of mood swings, cutting torch.
13:30I think everything will be all right.
13:32Well, I figure we'll just get seats pulled for a clean slate.
13:35Great idea.
13:36Yeah.
13:36I'd like to keep the two nicest seats.
13:39Okay.
13:39You got it.
13:43This is pretty exciting.
13:44This will be fun.
13:45And it's cool to actually work on something that's, for me, pretty excited about it.
13:53It's been a minute since you worked on buses, yeah?
13:55Yeah.
13:56The next time you call me, it's definitely going to voicemail.
14:03All right.
14:04I'm loose.
14:05Sweet.
14:09This is the first time I've got to work side by side with Cappy.
14:12I think it's going to be a blast.
14:30Charles and Tanner have been absolute rock stars getting this bus cleared out.
14:34They made such fast work yesterday.
14:36Popped all the windows out.
14:38The seats were out.
14:39Grinders are flying.
14:40They are moving.
14:46This is ready to come out.
14:49Nice.
14:55Dude, this is looking awesome.
14:58One of the things you suggest, Charles, I like is let's cut that skirt off,
15:01because I know the next thing is we've got to get underneath.
15:03Sounds like a plan.
15:04Thanks, guys.
15:06One of the tricks with shortening this bus is that you have to shorten the electrical wires.
15:12There's coolant lines, and all the wires have to be marked so we know which lights they go to.
15:17There's backup sensors.
15:18There's all kinds of different things.
15:19It's not just as simple as chopping metal and re-welding it together.
15:27We're going to back the bus up in front of Rodney's shop so we can use the concrete to lay
15:31on to finish cutting.
15:32We're going to have the center section out of this thing real soon.
15:36All right.
15:37What do you think, road warrior?
15:38This thing is awesome.
15:39Yeah.
15:41All right.
15:41Well, I'll grab the plasma cutter and we'll get her plugged in.
15:43Do what kind of mess we can make?
15:44Let's make a mess, dude.
15:45Let's do it.
15:51There's a cross number there.
15:56I can feel her popping and creaking.
16:01I love the smell of plasma in the morning.
16:07Peek-a-boo.
16:10One square foot down.
16:11And you made it look so easy, Cap.
16:15This is a lot of metal work.
16:17Travis warned us.
16:25It's a big day for our big adventure bus.
16:28Today is the day we get small.
16:30Wow.
16:31Check this out, dude.
16:32I called in David, Ruby, and Dustin to show this bus who's boss.
16:37What in the world?
16:38What's up, boys?
16:39Hey, gentlemen.
16:40What have you decided we're doing today?
16:44We're cutting out this entire center section.
16:46So from here up to the front of that cut.
16:49And then we're going to pick this center section up completely, scrap it.
16:53What?
16:54And then slide the back of the bus up to meet the front.
16:57We're going to detach the back first.
16:59The tail section, we have to be really careful because we still need it.
17:02Okay.
17:03Oh, my.
17:03Let's separate a bus.
17:05Raise the roof.
17:06That's awesome.
17:06Yeah, let's raise the roof.
17:07I love it.
17:12Beautiful.
17:14Travis said this was hard to get into.
17:19Not so much.
17:22There she went.
17:23Oh.
17:27We're going to lift the back of the bus up with the telehandler.
17:30It's a magic school bus, bro.
17:33Whoa.
17:33Perfect.
17:34Perfect.
17:35We got a bus without a caboose.
17:40Where's them saw horses?
17:42They're already set up.
17:43Yep.
17:44Okay.
17:45Yep.
17:51With the rear section set aside, there's still one more cut to make.
18:03Through the window and back up top.
18:08Got strapped up.
18:10I've had a snack.
18:11Ready to go.
18:13All right.
18:14Or thumbs up.
18:18There we go.
18:23Keep going?
18:24Nope.
18:25We're just going to pull out from under it.
18:40Awesome.
18:41While the boys and I are putting the bus back together, Sprout's hatching her plan to dress
18:47it all up.
18:48Right now, I'm on the way to a sign shop in town.
18:51I wanted to add a decal on the side of our short bus.
18:54I wanted to add a small touch to acknowledge the adventurous side of Tanner, but also to
19:00make sure it's nice and elegant for Madison.
19:05Hello.
19:06We found this school bus, but we don't want it to look like a school bus.
19:09Okay.
19:10So, we settled on this idea where it was just a mountain landscape and it felt like it fit
19:16their story.
19:17Yeah.
19:17Is this something that we could do?
19:18Absolutely.
19:19I love that design that you've got.
19:21Yeah.
19:21Awesome.
19:22Definitely doable.
19:23It'll take a couple days to print and let it sit for about 24 hours and we laminate
19:27it and then we'll be ready to install.
19:28Well, sounds great.
19:29Should I email this?
19:30Email's perfect.
19:31Okay.
19:31I will see you in a few days.
19:33Yeah, absolutely.
19:43I sent David to my short grass boneyard.
19:45He's been building the table for the dining area, but didn't have a leg to stand it on.
19:51So, this is Cappy's boneyard.
19:56Wow.
19:57Look at this.
19:59Here's what I need.
20:01My table leg.
20:03That one won't do.
20:05This one's way better.
20:06We can make this work.
20:08Cappy, your boneyard comes through one more time.
20:12Yeah.
20:15I wanted to create a table that kind of reflected modern country, but had a little class to it.
20:21There's nothing classier than dovetails.
20:25A dovetail is a spline that has a wider outside edge and a thinner inside edge.
20:33It acts as a clamp.
20:35Milled it in my shop and now I'm going to see how it fits.
20:37Slide this in a little bit snug.
20:41Let's check another one.
20:44Oh, that one slides nice.
20:45So, by the time I add glue and the dovetails, that is a tight joint and a solid table.
20:52Oh, that's going to be nice.
21:06They're getting ready to put the tail end of this bus back on the frame to build a deck
21:12so Tanner and Madison can haul all their toys with them without literally putting motorcycles
21:17in the living room of their camper.
21:21All right.
21:23We're just building this whole thing as we fly it.
21:25None of us have ever done this before.
21:27Do you like it?
21:28I love it.
21:33We're moving.
21:37Gotta go that way just a little.
21:41Straight.
21:44Got a foot.
21:46Okay, let's drop it.
21:49I'm completely clear.
21:52I'm clear.
21:53I'm good.
21:53All's good here.
21:55He's on.
22:01My blood pressure likes it better when Ruby drives.
22:04Yeah, mine does too.
22:05Right?
22:06We've got the main lift done, which is really exciting.
22:09Now it's actually contacting the frame.
22:11The next step is to slide the entire thing forward and then re-rivet the bus back to close the
22:17factory.
22:19Wish us luck.
22:33This morning, I'm on my way to Rodney's shop where we're putting the bus back together.
22:39When we came up with this idea originally, I wasn't completely sure it was going to work, but now we
22:45literally have to just slide this thing together.
22:48It's going to be a fun morning.
22:50I'm super excited.
22:50Let's go put a bus together.
22:58Charles brought a hydraulic ram, and that's how we're going to mechanically push this section forward.
23:04Ruby and Dustin are going to be on the roof with a combination of screwdrivers and putty knives and metal
23:10shims because the back of the bus has to slide under the front of the bus.
23:16And we can marry this school bus back together.
23:19Hey, Cappy, are we ready to go?
23:21Yes, sir.
23:21Ready, ready.
23:22Clear on top?
23:23Clear.
23:23Let's do it.
23:24Moving.
23:25Yep.
23:27Keep coming.
23:29Yeah.
23:30Oh, look at that.
23:35One more.
23:36Moving forward.
23:37Yep.
23:38Come on, baby.
23:39Just a little bit more.
23:41Okay.
23:41Oh, yeah, right there.
23:43Is it good?
23:44Beautiful.
23:44We got everything married back up.
23:46It's super stoked for the work the boys did on it.
23:48Now we got to rivet it all together and build the deck on the back.
23:57The bus is back in one piece, but I have some issues with it.
24:01It's kind of filthy.
24:03There's tape.
24:05There's dust.
24:06Whatever that is.
24:08It's been used and abused for decades.
24:12And that's why we're calling them the big guns.
24:18Buddy Carl is the best detailer in Spearfish.
24:21His challenge is to make the adventure bus shine.
24:26With his expertise, Carl will spray, vacuum, and wipe 25 years of wear and tear off this
24:32thing, all for Madison and Tan.
24:38Oh, speak of the devil.
24:41What's up, daddy-o?
24:43How's it going?
24:44Thanks for wanting to jump in.
24:46Yeah, of course.
24:46I know you're stoked about this.
24:48Oh, yeah.
24:48Yeah.
24:48So she knows nothing about this?
24:51No.
24:51She's going to be super excited.
24:52She's probably speechless.
24:53I'm excited to see her reaction.
24:55Nice.
24:55She just wants the bikes out of the living room.
24:57She's going to be most excited about that.
24:59Cool.
24:59Yeah, well, let's build the frame.
25:00Let's do it.
25:06While I cut our angle iron to length, Tanner's going to break out the torch and start cutting
25:10notches so they fit over the frame hardware.
25:31Like a glove.
25:32Brother, you guys decide on a date yet?
25:36No.
25:38Not yet.
25:39I still can't believe she actually said yes to you.
25:41You and me both.
25:51That remote project is finished.
25:54So glad to be back.
25:55Letting Cappy use the shop was definitely a no brainer.
25:59Because I know that he would do the same for me.
26:01Oh boy.
26:03But now, he's pulling me to work.
26:06When Cappy asked you to park the bus and there's no seat.
26:11So it looks like, yeah.
26:16Oh yeah.
26:17Much better.
26:22Yeah, Cappy called.
26:24Said we got some deck place to cut.
26:27Oh dear.
26:28About lost it.
26:31There's no stopping us now.
26:34Now we're ready to put the deck on.
26:37The reason we decided to go with steel was a couple reasons.
26:39It is forever.
26:40It's got a little bit of texture on top of it with that diamond pattern.
26:43To make it easy to park all the machines.
26:45But also make a nice deck that they can hang out on.
26:48Hose off.
26:49Sweep off.
26:49Anything like that.
26:53Gosh.
26:57Right now, we're laying out our pieces.
26:59Cutting out our wheel wells.
27:02Oh, that's not bad.
27:08Awesome.
27:09Yeah.
27:10Dude, this looks good.
27:11The diamond plate was the way to go.
27:13I'm going to get this set with you, this first one.
27:15And we'll just duplicate it on the other side.
27:18Okay.
27:18Three more pieces in there.
27:19That'll work.
27:20We're done.
27:25Here we go.
27:25Kokomo.
27:26Yeah.
27:29Look at that.
27:31Look at that.
27:32Look at that.
27:33Look at that.
27:44All the seats are back at Granny Flats.
27:47Sprout's in charge of picking out the ones to be saved that will find a new home back in the
27:51adventure bus.
27:53Today, I'm trying to salvage what's left of these bus seats to incorporate them in our build right now.
28:03For the seats, I want to soften everything up by reupholstering them.
28:08I was just down at the bus and I love it.
28:10It looks great.
28:11But it's a little too masculine.
28:13It's a bit, hey dude, hey bro.
28:15So I want to make sure that the bus feels like it's from Madison.
28:20I'll get these notes over to the upholstery place and we should be solid.
28:27I'm really excited about it.
28:28It should be really cool.
28:46We're finishing up the deck work today and Tanner is back bright and early.
28:55What do you think?
28:55Heater parts.
28:57Perfect.
28:58Dude, how sharp is this?
28:59Oh yeah.
28:59How many dirt bikes do you think you could fit on this?
29:01You could probably get pretty close to 12.
29:03Coolers?
29:03Barbecue grills?
29:04I'll put my whole shop in here.
29:06Put your whole shop?
29:07I'm going to go find some steel.
29:08Okay.
29:10Tanner is such a typical dude.
29:11He has not asked me one question about the inside.
29:14But he's asked me 110 questions about this.
29:17He'd sleep under the bus.
29:19Yeah, he doesn't care.
29:20But we'll get some romance out of him kicking or screaming.
29:23You're right.
29:25All right.
29:27If you could make Madison one thing in this bus, what would that be?
29:32A ladder for blankets.
29:35What?
29:36Literally a ladder made out of wood or something.
29:39Oh, that you like hang the blankets on the rungs.
29:42Yeah, we have blankets everywhere.
29:43She doesn't have enough.
29:45Well, she has enough.
29:46She doesn't think she has enough.
29:47You can make a blanket ladder.
29:54Sprout had the smart idea of adding carpet to make the inside of the bus more elegant
29:58for Madison.
30:00Unfortunately, Sprout has a test today.
30:02So it looks like I'm taking my boy Tanner's shop.
30:06So I was talking to Sprout on the way over.
30:09She said to keep it in neutrals.
30:11Oh, thank you.
30:14I have no idea what I'm looking at.
30:15So I'm making you go with me because that way if I screw it up, I'm only 50% at
30:19fault
30:19and you're the other 50%.
30:20Okay.
30:22Holy...
30:22Come on, wait.
30:23Oof.
30:24They all look the same to me.
30:27I don't know.
30:27I can see patterns.
30:29I mean, I can see that they're all different, but it's like light sand, sand, lighter sand,
30:37dirty sand, mocha sand, winter sand, cracked wheat.
30:42Gray.
30:43Harvest home.
30:44Light gray.
30:46Fawn.
30:47Really light gray.
30:48This one says concrete.
30:51I like concrete.
30:52Concrete's good.
30:54My brain always goes to functionality, right?
30:56Because you're going to be dirty and whatever just inevitably.
30:59All right.
31:00I think we just eeny, meeny, miny, moe this.
31:01Okay.
31:02And we just take what wrath comes.
31:04All right.
31:05Go for it.
31:05All right.
31:06Duck.
31:07Duck.
31:09Duck.
31:09Duck.
31:12And...
31:12Duck.
31:14All right.
31:15We got cloud white.
31:17This is it.
31:17Let's do it.
31:18If Sprout gets mad at some tell, you picked it up.
31:20Yeah.
31:21Technically, you did pick it up.
31:22I technically did.
31:35All right, students, pay attention.
31:37Do not stick your heart out the windows.
31:48Our bus has been chopped up, reassembled, and cleaned out.
31:53Now I'm leaving it to the pros to get our wrap applied on the outside.
31:59So we've got the bus back on the road to get all of this wrapped.
32:03So this whole thing gets a complete new facelift for it.
32:07So I'm really excited about that.
32:11The finish line is almost in sight.
32:13And you know what?
32:14I think this crazy adventure bus idea just might work.
32:21While our bus is getting a new skin, David is back at Granny Flats building the thing that Tanner said
32:26is a must for Madison.
32:28A blanket ladder.
32:30This is going to be nice.
32:31The blanket ladder is exactly what it sounds like.
32:33It's a tall series of wooden rungs where you can keep all your fuzzy things nice and organized.
32:39I found this redwood.
32:42So we cleaned it up, drilled the holes, and we're just going to glue this up and let it set.
32:54Wow.
32:56That's nice.
33:04As the bus gets gussied up on the outside, the guys pop by the sign shop to work on the
33:09inside, laying down that beautiful carpet that Tanner and I so lovingly picked out.
33:15So thinking about how hard everyone has worked on this project, Dustin and Ruby and David and Rodney and Tanner,
33:23every one of those guys would give the shirt off their back if you needed it.
33:27Tanner is sort of this boisterous mullet-having guy, but he's come out to help us with the bus to
33:34help surprise Madison.
33:35He wants to help people.
33:37What I like about this bus project is this is an opportunity for Sprout and I to give something back
33:43to him, to do something special for him and something meaningful for him.
33:50The decal work is all wrapped up, and the bus is on its way back to Rodney's.
33:55That means it's crunch time, baby.
33:57The final stretch.
34:00And to get this done, we're swarming the build with all hands on deck.
34:08I think these are pretty much what we're looking for.
34:17It's so crazy what they can do.
34:19That's a sticker, y'all.
34:22We're getting all the deck welded down completely.
34:24I've got Rodney underneath, Ren's on the back, spray painting all around the lights.
34:30I see David's head inside working on the table.
34:35God, I've got a good crew.
34:40What's up, Cap?
34:42What's up, bro?
34:43Dude, this looks so good!
34:44So the seat is there, and the table, and the second seat here.
34:48Gotcha.
34:49And then that ladder is going to go right here behind that seat.
34:52Awesome.
34:52It's going to hang right up there.
34:54Perfect.
34:57Ruby and David have more items coming from Sprout's interior design.
35:01Dustin's taking delivery of the Adventure Bus' bed frame and storage cabinets.
35:06Well, I appreciate you guys.
35:07All right, thanks.
35:11I've got to say, I live for days like these.
35:14Everyone at their best, pitching in, helping each other.
35:17Teamwork really does make the dream work.
35:30And in the middle of all this glorious chaos, the reupholstered seats from the original bus arrived, ready to be
35:36installed.
35:38What do you think?
35:40Man, these are so pretty.
35:41Can you imagine for 30 years, little kids sat on these seats, chewing bubble gum, looking reupholstered, and now they're
35:48going to be the seats to a dining table.
35:50I'd like it there.
35:52Okay.
35:54Oh, yeah.
35:58Oh, yeah.
36:00I love it.
36:01Nice.
36:10Now that all of our seats are in place, David is free to add his contribution to this giant wedding
36:15gift.
36:20Sprout wanted to make sure that the inside of the bus is cozy and elegant to counter the rugged off
36:26-road vibe on the outside.
36:27I think David knocked it out of the park with this beautiful warm table.
36:32Here we go.
36:34Let's go.
36:37And with that done, the team can add final touches to the inside, including a bed and plenty of storage
36:43space.
36:44Tomorrow morning, it's time to show the happy couple their new adventure bus.
36:59Today is the day we deliver Tanner and Madison their one-of-a-kind adventure bus.
37:05But before Sprout and I hand it off to the bride and groom-to-be, I figured we could have
37:09a little fun driving it over to their place.
37:12Well, this looks a lot different than it did, kiddo.
37:14Yeah.
37:15Sure does.
37:16I like being a passenger prince.
37:18This is lovely.
37:19Do I still have to follow all the rules back here?
37:22Yes.
37:23All hands and feet inside the bus at all times.
37:26Do not stick your head or limbs out of the weight out?
37:29All right.
37:30I think we're almost here.
37:31This is a bougie bus.
37:32I'm real proud of you, kiddo.
37:36I've asked Tanner to take Madison out for a dirt bike ride, so we have a few minutes to set
37:41everything up on the deck.
37:44And there.
37:45I thought that this might be a fun way to hang out with some snacks and some popcorn.
37:51And here they come.
37:53Right there.
37:53Okay.
37:54All right.
37:56Can't wait for them to see you.
38:00What's up, guys?
38:02Oh, my gosh.
38:03Oh, my gosh.
38:06Alex and I wanted to get you a little early wedding present.
38:09So say hello to your fully customized adventure bus.
38:14This looks a little different from when I was working on it.
38:17Oh, my gosh.
38:19This is insane.
38:21I had no idea.
38:22It's absolutely amazing.
38:24This is fantastic.
38:26You guys talked about is, like, every weekend, you guys are doing something.
38:30Oh, yeah.
38:31We try to be gone every weekend.
38:32Yep.
38:33So that was sort of the scheme that Alex came up with.
38:35It was the adventure bus.
38:36I love it.
38:38This wrap is awesome.
38:39Isn't that incredible?
38:40I know, right?
38:40I love the trees.
38:42The biggest thing we wanted to do came from a story you told me about when you guys travel.
38:45I did not honestly did not know this, Edison, that he puts the dirt bikes inside the camper.
38:51So we started with a 78 passenger bus, chopped 14 feet out of the middle, and then slid the back
38:57forward.
38:57Then I had Tanner help me convert the back of the bus into a 14-foot diamond plate steel deck
39:04designed to carry all of your favorite toys.
39:07By my count, we'll hold eight dirt bikes.
39:09Yeah, check out this deck.
39:10This was something that we wanted to have a dual-use for you.
39:14So not only was it designed to haul the rigs on, Sprout wanted to turn it into a hangout spot,
39:19so you could still get up out of the dirt.
39:21I love it.
39:22And these stanchions actually come down, so during travel, they all break down and stow away.
39:26Yep, run down the road.
39:28Awesome.
39:28What is that?
39:30That's a screen?
39:31Mm-hmm, yep.
39:32And then there's your projector.
39:33No way.
39:34That'll hook up to your phone.
39:35Mm-hmm, yep.
39:35You're gonna have to teach me how to use that.
39:37Oh, yeah, definitely.
39:38And I might have to sneak up here for a movie night.
39:41Yeah.
39:42Absolutely, yeah.
39:43You guys want to see the inside?
39:44Yes.
39:45Heck yeah, let's do it.
39:45Come on.
39:48Oh, my goodness.
39:51Oh, wow.
39:52Oh, my gosh.
39:55Oh, my goodness.
39:57This is...
39:58This is awesome.
39:59Welcome to the honeymoon suite portion of your adventure bus.
40:03We scraped off decades of chewing gum and completely revamped the interior with a queen-size bed and custom cabinets
40:10for storage and food prep.
40:12And this custom dining table built by David himself.
40:16That is pretty.
40:17You like it?
40:18Oh, my gosh.
40:19So they asked me one thing, what you would really like.
40:22Mm-hmm.
40:23Blanket ladder.
40:24I love it.
40:25I was hoping that you could take some of the blankets out of the house and bring them in here.
40:29No, we'll just get more.
40:32Oh, look at the rug.
40:33Oh, my gosh.
40:34This is amazing.
40:35How good is the seat?
40:37Oh.
40:38It's very nice.
40:42You just broke one of the bus rules.
40:45Oh, I did.
40:46I forgot.
40:47I forgot the bus rules.
40:49Well, what do we think?
40:51This is incredible.
40:52I absolutely love these seats and how they tie into everything.
40:56Yeah, we had them all reformed and stuffed and upholstered so they're all nice and fresh because the old ones
41:02were in a rougher state.
41:05Rougher state.
41:05Rougher state.
41:06They were in a real rough state.
41:08Well, the fun thing for me, like I used to, I don't know if you ever know this, I used
41:11to live in a bus.
41:12It did not look like this.
41:13Not even a little bit like this.
41:14No.
41:14It was a lot of happiness for me to work on another bus again.
41:17So, thanks for that.
41:18Man, we love this thing.
41:19This is awesome.
41:20Cappy and Alex did a lot of work and it really shows.
41:24Oh, my gosh.
41:24It's absolutely amazing.
41:25Thank you guys so much.
41:27I absolutely love it.
41:28The coloration and the soft feel you guys did.
41:32It's so nice.
41:33I absolutely love it.
41:35Well, cheers to you guys and to a happy marriage.
41:38So, what's the first adventure?
41:40Oh, trail riding.
41:42There's a little place.
41:42I know it's like half a million acres.
41:45Trails.
41:45Just go out and go.
41:47Going to have some adventures for sure.
41:49Awesome.
41:50Very cool.
41:50We'll let you get to your evening.
41:51Thanks, guys.
41:52See you guys.
41:53Thanks.
41:53See you guys.
41:56I want some popcorn.
41:57You want some popcorn?
41:58Yeah.
41:59I think we're going to use that deck a lot.
42:01I think so too.
42:02Don't have to hook on a camper or try to get bikes inside of a camper.
42:07It's just all right there.
42:10I thought it was really cool that they made it something where we can hang out to and not just
42:14see our bikes sit on it.
42:17Here.
42:18I'm going to catch a nut.
42:19No.
42:20Come on.
42:20No.
42:21You got to do it.
42:22Ready?
42:22Uh-huh.
42:25We're going to do one more.
42:26I'm going to lob it.
42:27Hold on.
42:27Wait.
42:28That one would have been perfect.
42:34And just for good measure, one more wedding gift for Tanner and Madison.
42:46Wow.
42:48Those are awesome.
42:52Awesome.
42:53We're welcome.
42:53What's up?
42:53Come on, man.
42:53Oh, man.
42:53We'll have to watch.
42:54Bye.
42:55I'm coming.
42:55I'm coming.
42:55Bye.
42:55Bye.
42:55Bye.
