00:00So big topics from the NBA All-Star Game or All-Star Weekend.
00:04The All-Star Game itself, people seem to enjoy the world versus the two NBA teams,
00:11the olds and the youngs yesterday, more so than a normal All-Star Game.
00:15Tanking was a big topic.
00:16We hit that earlier, Adam Silver saying they're looking at all measurements,
00:20including extreme ones to combat tanking.
00:23And then the other thing that popped up yesterday, or over the weekend, I should say,
00:30was an alleged burner account belonging to Houston Rocket Kevin Durant.
00:38And so what happened was we know that Kevin Durant is very active on Twitter.
00:42In fact, he was asked this weekend in a press conference,
00:45you have to give up one, video games or Twitter.
00:48That's how active he is on Twitter.
00:50This is a question for Kevin Durant.
00:51Here's what he had to say.
00:52If you can give up one thing for the rest of your life, Twitter or video games,
00:59which one would it be?
01:02Damn.
01:04I'm going to go Twitter.
01:05I'm going to go Twitter because they don't deserve to hear this God-level talk I'm giving to them.
01:14They take it for granted because I'm already known.
01:17All right, so he chose Twitter.
01:20He likes Twitter.
01:21Yeah, yeah, he likes Twitter.
01:22He chose Twitter because him getting off Twitter would mean we're not β
01:26we don't get the benefit of his wisdom on there anymore.
01:29And we're not deserving of it.
01:31Right.
01:31When people say we don't deserve dogs, those β
01:35okay, yeah, we also don't deserve Kevin Durant.
01:37Kevin Durant on Twitter.
01:38They're often spoken in the same breath.
01:41We also know that Kevin Durant admittedly has burner β
01:44has had burner accounts in the past on Twitter where he's interacted with people.
01:49So there's a new set of allegations here with Kevin Durant.
01:53Someone on X accused Durant of using an account called at GetHire77,
01:59which is currently locked.
02:00You can't β well, let me back up.
02:03Twitter as an app is currently locked and not working.
02:06There's a nationwide global outage, whatever.
02:09Twitter's not working right now, as an aside.
02:12But that account, if Twitter were working, you would see, is locked.
02:16You have to get β you know, they're protecting their tweets.
02:18It has under 100 followers.
02:20In screenshots shared online, this particular user is sending DMs to people,
02:26ripping on current Houston Rocket players,
02:29including Alperin Shengun and Jabari Smith, Jr., and others.
02:33There are multiple people who have shared shock DMs with this account
02:37that's trashed Devin Booker, former teammate of Kevin Durant,
02:42Kyrie Irving, former teammate of Kevin Durant.
02:45This account has a lot of hot takes about a lot of people
02:48that are in Kevin Durant's close basketball world.
02:51Yeah, and he's talking trash about guys on his own team, things, all of that.
02:56I just β where I am with this is I feel like we need to talk about it
03:00because there are a lot of people asking us
03:01or people kind of running with it online as if it's 100% real.
03:05And I just haven't seen anything yet that would suggest,
03:09oh, yeah, no, this is definitely Kevin Durant burner
03:12versus just an imposter making it look like Kevin Durant's burner.
03:16Right, right.
03:17This is Carlos Beltran's niece.
03:19Remember her?
03:20Remember when people ran with all of the information that Carlos Beltran's niece was?
03:24I do.
03:25Because people just want to believe something so they believe it.
03:28So there's a lot of people that want to believe that this is 100% Kevin Durant's burner
03:32because it's operating the same way Kevin Durant would if he was β
03:36if he had a burner and he wanted to say these things.
03:38Right.
03:39That's what imposters do.
03:40So if somebody wants to be an imposter,
03:43they're going to try to act like Kevin Durant would on his burner Twitter account.
03:47Do you think that these people that you're talking about β
03:49I know they exist.
03:51Yes.
03:51No, no, no, no.
03:52That's not my question.
03:53Do you think that those people go to, like, say, a Frank Caliendo show?
03:58Yeah.
03:58And they just sit there the whole time going, he sounds just like him.
04:02It's exactly what β that's exactly what β
04:05His mannerisms are exactly the same.
04:07So it's definitely the person.
04:09George W. Bush.
04:10No, he's not impersonating that person.
04:11No.
04:12No.
04:13Yeah.
04:14100% is real.
04:16I just β it could be true.
04:18Yeah.
04:18But I don't have any β without somebody that's actually going to go find the receipts
04:22in the paper trail of IP addresses or what have you to show that it's actually him
04:27or unless Kevin Durant himself says, yeah, you got me.
04:30That's my burner account.
04:31I just β I don't see how I could in good faith believe that this was actually Kevin Durant
04:37talking smack about his current teammates to a bunch of random people on Twitter.
04:41How β have past Durant burner account β I don't know the answer to this
04:44because I don't really β I don't care deeply about the burner accounts with Durant.
04:49I know Durant's, like, super sensitive on social media.
04:51I just β that's all I know.
04:53Have the past burner accounts said things about teammates before?
04:58I know.
04:58I think it's usually defending Kevin Durant.
05:00Okay.
05:01Yeah.
05:01I mean, because that β the money shot in all of this, Seth, is, okay, if this is true,
05:06which I tend to β I tend to believe that this is a Durant imposter imposter,
05:13you know, an imposter of a burner account of Durant, I don't think it's really him.
05:17That's my gut.
05:18I have no information to that effect.
05:20That's the thing in all this.
05:21Like, if it's really him and he's on there saying things about Uphurn Shengun and Jabari Smith Jr.,
05:26that's a problem.
05:27That's a problem that he feels that way about them.
05:31It's a problem that he's expressing his feelings through burner accounts to strangers about his teammates that way.
05:38I mean, that's β so, yeah, that β like, that's the β that's the big thing in all this.
05:43Like, he's on the Rockets, and these are young teammates that he's supposed to be getting along with.
05:48One of the most recent articles I could find is from USA Today.
05:51It says, there's no confirmation of this at all at the moment.
05:54Durant hasn't addressed the two officially, so we all need to calm down until there's actual proof.
06:01Maybe reporters will ask him about it later this week.
06:03This is where it gets a β the two things that jump to mind are, A, the Carlos Beltran's niece
06:08thing,
06:08because that was, like, a very serious topic that people were just taking and running with
06:12because somebody who claimed to be Carlos Beltran's niece in the being better than everybody else scandal
06:17was β had something to say about something.
06:20I can't even remember what it was.
06:21And that wasn't true.
06:22But people wanted to take it like it was true.
06:24The other was the Will Levis.
06:26Remember when there was a β somebody on Reddit was cited in legitimate articles as saying that
06:32Will Levis was going to get drafted either in the top two or three or something
06:36to the point where it spiked the futures bets on him.
06:41Yeah, moved the market.
06:42All the mock drafters were going with it and everything.
06:45I'm just β we're going on β how many years of this Internet thing here?
06:4830 years or so of this Internet thing.
06:50And there's still people that get duped by just random stuff on Twitter.
06:55I β and believe it wholeheartedly.
06:57And I β I've succumbed to it at times.
07:01Yeah.
07:01But I feel like β I feel like there's some people that just don't even bother trying to be skeptical
07:05of anything.
07:06Someone asks on the base power text line, here's the thing.
07:09Was the alleged burner account wrong in its assessments?
07:13Right.
07:14It was critical of Alper and Shengun, which, you know, I don't know.
07:18It said something about his offense and his defense.
07:21The thing it said about Jabari Smith was a little over the top and something we can't say on the
07:25radio.
07:25Oh, yeah, yeah.
07:26It's a word that doesn't get used β it shouldn't get used anymore.
07:30No, and it was honestly β it was stuff that really β I don't β like, I don't β I
07:35couldn't see Durant, honestly,
07:37interacting with somebody about all that stuff.
07:40Because, remember, he's interacting with those people basically saying, like, yeah, I'm Kevin Durant.
07:46At least the ones I saw, it would almost be like he was in on it with these β these
07:50other people who were β he was DMing with on this β
07:52Yeah.
07:53On this burner account that he had somehow let them know he was Kevin Durant.
07:56And that's just β like, that's dumb.
07:58Like, beyond the level of anything that you might think any athlete is dumb or something.
08:02It just doesn't β there's parts of it that just don't make any sense.
08:05I doubt β I could be 100% wrong.
08:07Maybe I'm the schmuck.
08:08But I just see no reason to actually believe this and that it's going to become some kind of a
08:12barrier between him and his teammates right now.
08:15A Twitter account claiming to be Carlos Beltran's niece went viral in January of 2020.
08:20So this is right as the punishment was coming out.
08:22But by accusing Astros players of using buzzers during the sign stealing.
08:28So that's β
08:28That's how the buzzer stuff got started.
08:29Yeah.
08:29And people ran with that.
08:30Hey, an anonymous person claiming to be Carlos Beltran's niece says that β and people would say β make the
08:37same β
08:38people would try to defend the legitimacy of that fake account by saying things like, well, what motivation would she
08:44have to be lying?
08:46Like, wait a second.
08:47There's no she here.
08:48We don't know β like, we have zero clue who it is.
08:51It might not even be a she.
08:52Because people troll people.
08:54And they love to do it.
08:56They love to β we had a β you and I both know somebody who had a fake Jack Easterby
09:00burner account.
09:01Yeah.
09:01And it was very frustrating to watch people believe that this was actually Jack Easterby.
09:05Yeah.
09:06To the point where some other local kind of quasi-influencer types would think that they were having a dialogue
09:13with Jack Easterby.
09:14Right.
09:14Because this guy who's diabolical just had a fake Jack Easterby account and was β and these people thought they
09:21were getting fed information from Jack Easterby.
09:23There's kind of like people β some people that had β people that had larger X accounts and stuff.
09:28Yep.
09:28Very humiliating for those people.
09:29Yes, yes.
09:30Very humiliating.
09:32But then why β why did β why did the guy that we know do that?
09:35Because he's an a-hole.
09:37Do β
09:37That's his β
09:38Right.
09:39That's what he likes to do.
09:39You know who you are.
09:40Yeah.
09:41Yes.
09:41You know who you are.
09:43Does β does Durant get asked about this?
09:46And by the way, the person we know is not a media member or anything.
09:49It's nothing β
09:49No, no, no, no, no, no, no.
09:52Do you think Kevin Durant gets asked about this on β I guess Thursday would be the next time?
09:56Oh, yeah, yeah.
09:56I would imagine, yeah.
09:57He meets with the media.
09:57He might actually β he might post about it before then.
10:00Maybe.
10:01He can't right now because Twitter is down, unfortunately.
10:04Maybe he shut it down.
10:05Could have been.
10:06Maybe he called up Elon.
10:07He was like, hey, are you aware that there might be possible misinformation on your website?
10:13Shut it down.
10:14My stars.
10:15I just β
10:18On Twitter.
10:18Yeah.
10:19Yeah.
