00:01Welcome to the first look at EA Sports F125 gameplay, I'm Matt Gallagher, and I'm Alex Jakes, we've got a
00:07ton to explore today Alex, I haven't seen anything yet, but I've heard there's plenty of exciting stuff lined up,
00:13absolutely, we've got brand new reverse racing, it is going to be a blast to commentate on, let's jump right
00:20in, alright, let's pick our team and driver for the first lap, we've gone for Haas, and we've gone for
00:26Oliver Behrman, not a bad shout, I'm ready for this one,
00:29and you need to be ready as well, we're taking a lap around Austria in reverse, Alex, you've done a
00:34lot of commentary, but not in reverse, no, this is going to be a unique challenge, Matt, I'm not nervous
00:40at all, well, nerves or no nerves, Alex, take us through this, here come the lights, we're going the wrong
00:47way round,
00:49We're underway and heading to the final corner of the racetrack first, how strange is this, as we go racing
00:57with Ollie Behrman into the final turn, and this is going to change things entirely, will we get through, everyone
01:04cleanly through, we're climbing the hill into the Jokern Rink kerb, but this is completely alien stuff, Matt.
01:10So the studio wanted to spread their efforts to deliver value for players across the board, reverse tracks, allow EA
01:16to deliver something a bit more light-hearted, a bit different like we're seeing right now.
01:20It's a lot of fun, because now we're climbing the hill, at turns 7 and 8, normally, have now turned
01:27into a really fast chicane, this is still a great overtaking opportunity, and Ollie Behrman's showing us that.
01:33So changing the raceline and wear throughout the race is complex, EA manages two versions of each track in one
01:40file to account for track wear and wet weather drying, it's not just about reversing direction here.
01:46Oh, this is a scary corner, but it's going to get even scarier, because instead of climbing up, we're plunging
01:52downhill, not to turn one, but to the final turn on the racetrack, look at how quick this is, with
01:59no escape on the outside if you get it wrong, can Behrman make another place? He can, super move, super
02:06racetrack, brilliant.
02:08Alex, my brain is fried, what have we just watched?
02:11It is a completely different challenge, isn't it? But that's really fun.
02:16Right, swiftly on to Miami. You'll be glad to know, Alex, this one is the right way around, an all
02:21-new LiDAR-scanned track to bring the true experience to the game.
02:26I'm liking the sound of that, let's see what it looks like on board.
02:31And it's Oscar Piastri heading into the first turn.
02:33I've been fortunate enough to attend this race on a couple of occasions, and the detail, not only on track,
02:41but around the stadium section, really impressive stuff.
02:46Stuff that you'd only know if you've been there, amazing.
02:49So the accuracy is because of the LiDAR.
02:51It gives billions of data points, and also by matching the LiDAR data, the sense of speed would also translate
02:58closer to what a driver would experience on track.
03:02We've even got the cable car on the left-hand side, I love it.
03:05But as we come down to the braking zones, this is what's going to make the difference when you are
03:10behind the wheel and being passed by Lando Norris initially.
03:13Over the bumps, which curbs can you use? Which curbs do you need to avoid? Absolutely crucial.
03:21Certainly at corners like this, as we climb the hill, some you have to avoid, some you have to take,
03:26like that one on the apex of the chicane.
03:29So LiDAR enhances track realism by capturing details like elevation and curb height.
03:33You could just see when we were on board there, the way the car was bouncing around and compressing. It's
03:38brilliant stuff.
03:39And we're going all the way to the end now. Here we go with Oscar Piastri.
03:44We're going to get the bumps into the braking zone. How much speed could he take through here?
03:49Final corner of the last lap. Stadium is ahead of us, but we're heading to the checkered flag.
03:55And Oscar Piastri comes over the line to win again and to punch the air.
04:03Absolutely awesome. Just amazing, mate. Well done.
04:07Well done, everybody. Massively deserved.
04:11That's a nice touch, isn't it? Oscar Piastri in the flesh.
04:15Yeah, his actual team radio included in the game.
04:19Off to the podium we go now.
04:21Loving that from the podium. And off we are. This is looking like a massive step up.
04:27So using Valve Index base stations and a Vive Tracker mounted onto a camera rig, EA took the existing podium
04:33cutscene animations in Motion Builder and used a plug-in which allowed EA to record the tracking data from the
04:38Vive Tracker.
04:39So this gave EA the natural movement that would be expected when a camera operator is reacting to events unfolding
04:46in front of them.
04:47Hence the step up.
04:49It sounds like so much work has gone into it.
04:53Now to Silverstone we go. And at the bottom, reverse track with a pit stop. Bring this on. I'm really
05:03looking forward to seeing what this place looks like.
05:06The Wrong Way Round. We're chasing down Fernando Alonso on board with Isaac Hadjar and we're going the Wrong Way
05:13Round through Luffield Corner heading into Brooklands and that is going to make the next part of the track scary
05:19quick.
05:20It's learning a completely different track the Wrong Way Round. My brain can't really compute what's going on but we're
05:25in the slipstream of Alonso, Alex.
05:26Okay, we're heading into what would normally be the opening quarters. This is now a massive overtaking opportunity. This is
05:34so strange, you know. An iconic circuit, the home of British Motor Racing and we're going completely the wrong way
05:42round.
05:43In fact, we're going into the pit lane right now. Scrub off the speed and we head in to the
05:50Silverstone pit lane past the iconic wing which is now on our left-hand side.
05:55Still getting used to all of this. And it's a straight pit stop race. Hadjar versus Alonso. In goes Alonso
06:03and now we're hitting our marks. Can we jump him here?
06:07The turn in was optimal. We hit our marks. Can we beat the Aston Martin out? No! Fernando Alonso has
06:14done us. He's kept position.
06:16I'm intrigued to see what this next pit's like though because it is so tight in real life and it's
06:21now the pit exit.
06:22We've barely got any room to use. Get rid of the limiter. Here we go. Flat to the floor and
06:29rejoin heading into Stowe Corner.
06:31But it's now a left-hander and Alonso's getting away from us.
06:35Ah, phenomenal stuff. So the garages in the pit lane have a totally new layer comprising of all bays, pit
06:40perches, crew, floor decals, garage signage, pit limits and exit lights.
06:45Everything had to face the other direction and be ordered differently.
06:49Oh my word. Beckett's, then Maggots. Unbelievable combination. Still brilliant. Even in reverse.
06:57And we're heading to Copps Corner. Are we going to go around the outside? Hang on right now.
07:02Come on!
07:03Oh, what a move that is. Amazing.
07:06This is absolutely brilliant to watch. I think this track will actually be one of the most difficult ones to
07:10learn.
07:11Totally agree, man.
07:12We are now off to Bahrain. We have another LiDAR track and it means that you can see things like
07:19the fan zone that's there in real life on the left-hand side.
07:23And we're trailing, following Gabriel Bortoleto down to the first turn. There's always bumps down there at the first turn.
07:31You can see the suspension is working away as he locks up. He's chasing Carlos Sainz up the hill.
07:37That's feeling very recent in the memory Bahrain Grand Prix as we head slightly up the hill.
07:43The track's undulation is very apparent now and feels authentic overall, especially when you reach turn five.
07:48You get that great wah moment because you really get to see and feel the elevation as a whole.
07:53And the fast stuff is where LiDAR really comes into its own. Big direction changes, completely accurate.
08:00And now we're at turn eight. We're getting closer to the Williams in front.
08:04Speaking of accurate, representation of the sandy and desert terrain verges in terms of slope and natural formations.
08:10The accuracy is just unmatched. We head into turn 10 now, known for its challenging downhill braking zone.
08:16That's also been replicated so that players will get to experience the precise elevation drop and tricky off-camber corner
08:22entry, giving them a true-to-life driving experience.
08:25Oh, it's lock-up city. Turn 10. Absolutely love it.
08:30And now the climb begins again into the fast stuff with Bortleto leaning on every bump.
08:3713 is such a tricky corner. Look at the suspension working away as he climbs the kerb now.
08:42And he's chasing all the way to the end of a very familiar racetrack with its abrasive tarmac and its
08:50low grip, its high abrasion.
08:52And it's lining up right now for a great chance to overtake the Williams ahead.
08:58There's the rear wing element going up.
09:00And the Brazilian driver continues to chase on, on to Zuzuka.
09:08Yes, please. Absolutely adore this racetrack.
09:11And we are about to find ourselves doing an attacking lap around iconic corners with the LiDAR more accurate than
09:20they have ever been before.
09:22This is turn one at high speed, and we're working our way into the S's.
09:28Look at that on the left-hand side. We've got the cherry blossoms. Wonderful.
09:32Beautiful as well. You've got the pink Alpine of Jack Doohan.
09:35It's all just working out beautifully into the first sector.
09:38One of the most iconic sets of corners in the entire Formula One calendar.
09:43You can feel the car moving around, compressing. It's just brilliant.
09:48Into the Degnas. Through the first one. Through the second one.
09:54And we're gaining all the time on Yuki Tsunoda.
09:58The dive bomb! The Kobayashi dive bomb move from Jack Doohan.
10:04How about it? Excellent stuff.
10:07I'm loving this racetrack with all of the details around here.
10:13Spoon Corner is next. Fans watching from the side.
10:17More cherry blossom. And around this racetrack, it really is a beautiful place to come.
10:22Spot the cherry blossom is the game we're playing at the moment.
10:25We're in the slipstream of Alex Albon. It's looking beautiful.
10:28How's 130R going to be? Albon wants to move!
10:32That is a dangerous place to try and overtake. He couldn't make the pass.
10:36How about the iconic chicane?
10:38Made famous by Prost and Senna.
10:41The big wheel on the left-hand side.
10:43It's an amazing view from that, by the way.
10:45It's an amazing view on board with Jack Doohan as we go across the line.
10:49My word! Does the Zuzuka look great?
10:52We've gained another place on the way to turn number one.
10:56What a great racetrack. I love that place.
10:58Heading to Australia, we go now for the Grand Prix.
11:02The first race of the season it was this year.
11:05And look at that.
11:08Raining in Melbourne.
11:09It's a LiDAR scan track once again.
11:12So look for the accuracy.
11:13You can see it's a very unique track.
11:15It has road markings on it.
11:16And you best believe the LiDAR has scanned it all.
11:19I'm so relieved it has because that is going to make things extra tricky.
11:25That is going to provide you with the same challenges that the drivers themselves experience.
11:32And I love that we've got the wet conditions just like we saw for the real thing earlier in the
11:38year
11:38as we go past the stadium section now on the right-hand side.
11:42So the building's placement, which you'll see around the track, is probably the biggest change
11:46with the proportions of the pit buildings being accurate now
11:49as well as all of the bridges and gantries around the track being correct.
11:53I love to see it.
11:55Lean on the kerb on the way out.
11:57Little bit of a correction there as we went over the markings.
12:00This is the flat-out section now.
12:02Changed a couple of years ago.
12:04We're going up through the gears.
12:05This is such a high-speed change of direction.
12:08The far chicane, how brave are you feeling through here?
12:13Gaining so much time and another great overtaking opportunity.
12:17We're chasing down Liam Lawson.
12:19This place looking fantastic even though it's pouring with rain.
12:23Oh, we're going to go for a move down the inside of Lawson.
12:25Beautiful stuff.
12:26And you'll see all around this circuit, as it is a street circuit technically,
12:30every barrier has been replaced with the correct height and proportioned versions
12:34as well as all the colours and materials being updated.
12:37A brilliant place to go racing.
12:39A wonderful crowd.
12:41And now the most accurate version of Albert Park we have ever seen.
12:47The car moving around so much in the rain as well.
12:51As we go over the line again, chasing down Lewis Hamilton for 8th position at Albert Park.
12:58Carlos Sides making his way through.
13:00Right, last one for today.
13:01And it is Zandvoort.
13:02As you can see, the entire start grid has had to be replaced on the opposite side of the start
13:08straight.
13:08In real life, this isn't even a consideration and might not be able to fit all the cars.
13:12This is going to be amazing because it's a bank first turn.
13:16Look at this.
13:17This place is mad enough.
13:19The normal way around.
13:21This is epic going backwards.
13:23We're now into the stadium section.
13:25Oh, spot your apex here.
13:26Where is it?
13:27I tell you what, I'm really enjoying this version of Zandvoort.
13:31It's going to get quicker and quicker now.
13:33And there's a good overtaking opportunity coming our way.
13:36I mean, we're already ahead, so don't worry about it too much.
13:38On board with George Russell snaking our way through.
13:42And then it's going to get super quick again.
13:44I quite like it this way around.
13:46Yeah, I think it's going to get even more chaotic now as we head through this left-hander.
13:49Missing the apex ever so slightly.
13:51And this corner here, banked uphill.
13:53Here we go.
13:55I'm going to speak to the organisers.
13:56I think this is the way forward.
13:58This is so quick, and it now means that the original Turn 3 is going to be no run-off
14:05at all.
14:06And banked as well.
14:08Ah, phenomenal stuff.
14:10How is Turn 1 in real life going to fare for the driver here?
14:14The last corner.
14:16Yeah, on the power.
14:18That's epic.
14:18That is so, so good.
14:21All right, Zandvoort, we've got a few ideas for the Grand Prix.
14:25It's not over.
14:27Until it's over.
14:29OK, great job.
14:31I feel like that reaction would have been absolutely his reaction going round Zandvoort backwards, to be honest with you.
14:37Players can actually expect over 1,000 radio messages across the game from real-life races.
14:43That was a lot of fun, Alex.
14:45A great look.
14:46An insight into F125.
14:49How did you find it?
14:50Yeah, I really enjoyed it.
14:51I'm loving that reverse track feature.
14:53Make sure you go and pre-order F125 now.
15:07PlayStation 4.
