00:00Hey, name, image and likeness. Do you like it? Do you think it's helping college sports or do you think
00:07it is a negative for college sports?
00:11Look, I think it is more positive than negative. And when you look at there, there are families whose lives
00:18are being transformed by it.
00:20We got to realize that it is lifted boats. It has given people a viable way to earn money in
00:31a sport without having to be one of the 1%.
00:34We've now allowed, I think what NIL allows is essentially the top 10% of the best basketball and football
00:41players are now going to earn a nice nest egg, right?
00:47Some of them, it could be life-changing and some of them, it could be just allowing yourself to get
00:51a head start.
00:52So ultimately, but like everything, you know, and this happens in our government too.
00:58Whenever the courts essentially legalize something, you don't have a structure for it to do it, right?
01:05The courts, you know, whenever the courts have gotten involved in federal policy, whether social policy, it creates a mess,
01:13right?
01:13They're like, well, we got to allow sports gambling, but Congress never intervened and put some parameters on it.
01:19Well, we got to allow the players to get earned money on the side, but then there was no entity,
01:24you know, you're being asked to put it in.
01:26You can't let the courts make these decisions. That's why it's so screwed up.
01:30A form of this makes a lot of sense. And now we're going to do this backwards.
01:35We're eventually going to have to have collective bargaining among players.
01:37Whether you love it or hate it, it's just the reality. If you're going to want to try to create
01:41some sort of contractual obligation between a player and a university, but it's the implementation that is ridiculous.
01:48And this is what happens when you have feckless leaders that simply allow the courts to dictate change.
01:56Absolutely. And nil to me now means this, Chuck. Now it's legal.
02:02Okay. So, you know, back in the day, you know, people were like, Hey, how did those maybe, Hey, I
02:09don't know anything.
02:09I'm going to be like Eric Dickerson. I don't know anything. I don't know how he won.
02:13I don't know how it ended up going on like that. So now it's legal.
