Two people, including a three-year-old girl, died after a speedboat capsized near the Meeting of the Waters in Manaus. On Friday, Feb. 13, a Lima de Abreu XV speedboat was travelling between Manaus and Nova Olinda do Norte around 12:30 p.m. when the vessel capsized near where the dark waters of the Rio Negro and the sandy-colored Solmões meet, leaving two passengers dead and seven others missing. "Currently, we are conducting a conference call with all individuals who were on board, including passengers and crew, in order to confirm the information with complete responsibility and transparency,” Lima de Abreu Navegações said in a statement confirming the accident, per local outlet Globo. “We are also investigating, together with the competent authorities, all the circumstances that led to the incident."
