01:30Fleur wants this all clear.
01:32You know those parakeet flowers of yours?
01:34Mm-hmm.
01:35Not loving that spot.
01:36They'll stay where they are.
01:38Poor things, wilting away.
01:41I always say gardening is all about balance.
01:45Here I was thinking it was about enjoying peace and quiet.
01:48Or connecting with something bigger than yourself.
01:50Go on, where do you plant them?
01:54Well, they do best in partial shade.
01:57Plenty of morning light, but avoid the afternoon sun.
02:01Don't want them burning out.
02:02I shall bear that in mind.
02:03Baxter, drop everything.
02:06I've had 30 kilos of grog clay delivered, and it's baking in the sun.
02:11Be a darling and shift it for me, would you, before it turns to concrete?
02:15Hello, neighbor.
02:16Quiet morning.
02:18What?
02:19Friday, 9.30 as usual.
02:20If you're late again, I'm leaving without you.
02:22Oh, you are cruel.
02:24Can you remind me to pick up starfruit?
02:26I've been experimenting with my smoothies.
02:29Right, Baxter, let's go.
02:31When the muse is upon me, I must strike while the clay is still soft.
02:35When the muse is upon me, I must strike while the clay is still soft.
03:05Fancy a cold glass of homemade lemonade?
03:12I'd kill it for one.
03:30I think it came from down there.
03:33Did it come for an Henry's?

04:18I will wait to get you to try a camera.
04:19jeans down relax your faces in Paris we say you don't take a photograph you
04:44create it okay you're really into this just makes a change to be in a photo where my head won't get
04:53cut off every family photo ever you see me from the shoulders don't shall we try your hand on your
05:02hip less like you've stepped on the sea urchin more like you just heard the rums on the house
05:11morning commissioner where is inspector Wilson we did try sir he said he's only here short term so
05:25didn't think it was his place also apparently football is on and presumably the prime rate
05:32drops every time his team plays one can only hope sir the whole point of this initiative
05:40is to make the wider community feel that we are all in this for them to strengthen their trust in us
05:52how are we going to begin to do that when our senior detective can't be bothered to turn up for a team
06:01photograph he better make it to the launch this evening um I should get that excuse me sir
06:11come on just give me the second half it's not even a big game
06:21what the commissioner is seriously not happy you missed your close-up can't they just photoshop me in
06:32something tells me he's not going to go for that is that what you came here for no there's been a
06:37shooting up in the hills
06:38stupid island
06:49victim's name is henry ashby originally from the uk moved to saint marie 10 years ago
06:57what else do we know his neighbor fleur edwards and her gardener baxter tartan heard the shot around
07:0510 30 when they arrived the doors were wide open and they saw someone on a white moped speeding off
07:11through the trees miss edwards said she saw the same moped outside the house last night even got
07:17a registration number sergeant fletcher is on the case mud on the floor no sign of a forced entry so
07:28either the victim let the killer in or the killer let themselves in from the garden shot henry and
07:37pegged it back the same way that's a serious tattoo boss do i feel like i've seen it somewhere before
07:44yeah it's pegasus oh the flying horse mutant thing something like that and the bloke riding him is
07:51bellerophon it's part of the parachute regiment in sigmia mate of mine had one he said the army trained
07:57him for anything which is why now runs a soft plane croydon yeah he might be a military man so let's check
08:06that out shall we 10 years on this island and not even a vase in the gaff a big reader though yeah man
08:16had a lot of books interesting what is this is a meticulously organized library and he's filed his
08:28books alphabetically by author reading has never really been my thing you know but if i have to read a
08:34book i usually start at the last page first you know i mean swerve the sad endings hang on there's
08:42one missing this section is charles dickens novels uh pickwick papers our mutual friend david copperfield
08:51etc where's one missing which one is it i think it's tired of two cities yeah it's definitely tired of
09:02two cities where can that have got to officer rose check the bedside table yeah he might have lent it
09:10to someone or even lost it maybe nothing in the bedroom sir
09:16i was taking up my boots then we both heard it it's terrifying i could feel it in my bones something
09:33awful had happened we rushed straight over but we were too late next thing i know i heard ties kicking up
09:41dirt couldn't get a look at the registration plate but they were wearing a helmet and a black top
09:49and you said you think you saw the same moped last night i'm often up working late from my studio i can
09:54see henry's someone was outside lurking peering through his windows at first i thought maybe it was a
10:03delivery driver wrong address but something felt off so i jotted the number plate down in my sketchbook
10:12how long have you lived out here three months long enough to adore it i needed space for my work to
10:19find inspiration and look of course when i arrived the garden was an absolute jungle hired me on the spot
10:29said the weeds were choking her genius and henry was he a good neighbor he kept kept to himself didn't
10:38seem to want to get close still he drove you into town on fridays right big shop day that's the only
10:45thing on his calendar he offered i may have mentioned how tiresome i find driving having done it for years
10:52in london and there's no jubilee line on saint marie right quite anyone else ever stopped by not that i
11:02know of floor is right mr asby wasn't much for company preferred books yeah speaking of which did he ever
11:11lend you any tell the two cities maybe dickens inspector we'll be in touch thank you
11:21so that moped's from a rental outfit more panglory just spoke to the owner winston bit of a relic
11:34but he keep our good records you know bottom line uh driver's a tourist from the uk arrived a week ago
11:40but he provided an id and a local address craig pinnock an accountant from nunhead in london
11:51so how can i help you detectives there's not a problem is there we need to establish your
12:04whereabouts this morning yeah fatal shooting just a few miles from here a man called henry ashby was
12:11murdered do you know him well no never heard of the guy that's funny a moped just like the one you
12:21were scrubbing clean outside was used to flee the scene we also have evidence placing that same white
12:28moped and its driver outside the victim's house last night what sorry oh no there must be some mistake
12:36i um look i didn't shoot anyone how do we clear this up let's start from the beginning yeah last night
12:47why was your moped seen outside the victim's villa up in the hills right okay um so i may have driven
12:55past that house last night but only because i took a wrong turn i was um i was looking for a property
13:01a villa that i'd seen online and um i thought there might be somebody in to point me in the right
13:06direction but no answer you were looking for a house for sale after dark yes i mean it was supposed
13:15to have beautiful sunset views and um well i'm looking to buy out here yeah remote accounting best
13:21stress so you were at the victim's villa but you never interacted with him no no absolutely not what
13:29about in the morning it was definitely my moped that was seen our witnesses didn't get a registration
13:36but the description matches and the rider was wearing a black top okay so i can see now why you
13:45might think it was me but it wasn't so it was just coincidence someone else was there this morning
13:53dressed just like you on a similar white moped outside the same property you were visiting last night
14:00must be that's bizarre isn't it but i can assure you detectives that i was nowhere near that house
14:07then where were you 10 30 when the shooting happened well in coconut water there's a street bender
14:14and i'd stopped to make a work call felt thirsty and this was definitely 10 30. where was this crescent
14:20the opposite side of the island to the crime scene convenient convenient now look you've got the wrong
14:31person i didn't shoot anyone check my phone we will thank you for your help we'll be in touch if we need
14:39anything further well the vendor confirms he served craig this morning and he was on his phone the whole
14:46time that's why he remembers him craig's client also confirms they spoke at 15 30 uk time which is 10 30
14:53here they spoke for five minutes and it all tallies with the call of on principle but it has to be craig
14:59that shot henry ashby his clothing was identified and the bike and he was outside henry's the night before
15:07and you saw what it was like at the villa it was all over the place but he has an alibi
15:11for the time of the murder sir so if it was him then how did he do it
15:30craig's definitely holding back so if we don't yet know how he managed to shoot henry ashby
15:35let's focus on his motive why did he do it sergeant fletcher what have you got for us inspector
15:48bit of a development at henry's seems there's a little more to him than we first thought
15:58a spy i'm telling you he has to be a spy henry was definitely mixed up in something murky
16:03surveillance perhaps a spy a hundred percent i'm talking code names you know drop-off locations
16:11secret hand sheets exploding pens his military records came in henry rose through the ranks
16:18quickly before a voluntary discharge 15 years ago then nothing no paper trail no fixed address
16:26vanished until saint marie what about his phone zero phone calls the man had
16:33nobody checking in i mean it's like you're just totally ghosted life and his laptop locked down
16:40tights but i've asked the lab and they're checking it out but his bank account stucked living off grid
16:47with serious money behind him makes you wonder who or what was he running from i've got a mate in
16:54organized crime command i'll give her a call see if what we found triggers anything her in
17:00but let's keep looking into craig pinnock now we know that the victim isn't what he seems there must
17:06be a reason craig wanted him dead it's time we headed over to the commissioner's launch ready sir uh i'll
17:13catch you up i got this phone call to make first okay see you there don't be late
17:29you know commissioner asked us to say a few words about what saint marie means to us and i was like
17:36man i mean where do i start you know so what did you go for officer rose's top 10 favorite places to
17:43fill your belly okay do you think that's quite what the commissioner you know what that is perfect
17:53you're all right big crowds it tends to happen when you offer free snacks inspector's cutting it fine
18:06we want to be in his booth when he arrives
18:08it's a wonderful turnout don't you think what all the phone calls
18:17if only every idea came together so smoothly
18:22i should have escorted him here myself
18:26mervyn made a commitment no focus on your speech
18:31and at number two we have the grill bar you know the one with the sweet sweet curry goat the one
18:39where the the the chef sings love songs as he cooks i'm actually thinking about starting my own food
18:45tour so then open investor we can thank you thank you thank you for that enthusiasm
18:55officer rose and thank you for coming everyone tonight is a new beginning since returning to saint marie
19:09i have been made aware i need to recommit to reassure you that this island still matters to me
19:24to us and you its people matter even more this is the first step rebuilding trust strengthening
19:35the relationship between myself and my team and you the people we serve
19:48no answer
19:51we will proceed with the q and a as planned first questions please yes i've got a question why did
19:59the detective not bother showing up um well um i'm actually commissioner um can i take this one of course
20:15the the
20:27di wilson is not here because he's working on a murder case
20:33and knowing him he's probably so deep into it he hasn't realized the time
20:39but that's because he cares about his work all of us standing here care so much about what we do
20:49it's it's not just about solving crimes it's about doing it right and that's why we show up
20:56because it's not just what we do it's it's who we are
21:09next question so two sergeant thomas they're busting it
21:22look look who arrives just in time for the cleanup look i'm late i know but good news is there's no
21:31more speeches but the bad news no more snacks the commissioner left 10 minutes ago and he said
21:36he's very disappointed but not surprised direct quotes stop talking look i've got some major
21:42intel on our victim all right i mean it all makes total sense now the military background the fake
21:48passports living off grid i mean i should have worked this out before worked out what he was a
21:53smile no officer rose henry ashby was a professional hit man
21:58so multiple passports were found in the victim's house
22:07i don't believe it why is it so hard to get a book out of the library inspector
22:11you do still work here yeah commissioner look i'm sorry about last night but i was doing what i
22:19thought was best for the case disappearing in the name of duty is still disappearing
22:24i made my expectations very clear yes commissioner i'm sorry it won't happen again you might also offer
22:33thanks to ds thomas who covered for your absence with greater plumb thank you ds thomas right are we
22:43done no you will make amends with some community outreach work mrs desiree one of our most senior
22:53residents was in attendance last night she told me she was in need of a little police assistance
23:00i said would pay her a visit that is her address
23:07a tale of two cities have you read it before i know but i used to work weekends with a guy who ran
23:20dickens tours like all his best redemption hope the destructive nature of revenge not a million miles
23:29from this case um ds thomas was updating me your victim is a hitman yeah organized crime linked
23:36henry ashby to a shelved case he's the prime suspect in a historic hit job in putney made to
23:42look like a break-in the victim was a shop owner with ties to loan sharks henry made it look like a
23:48break-in the theory goes henry's the guy you call in when things get heavy there's other suspected hits
23:53but the evidence is non-existent i went through the victim's bank statements commissioner there were
23:58years of large cash deposits no employer just drops why did they never catch him i expect because
24:05he was good at his job all they had on the guy was some grainy cctv footage and the description of
24:10a very distinctive tattoo pegasus no i still feel like i've seen that tattoo somewhere before you
24:17know i'm just not sure where
24:19so i did some digging into our suspect craig pinnock turns out craig's a widower this was his wife lucy
24:32pinnock died 10 years ago on the 2nd of july so she was shot a home breaking gone wrong no suspect
24:41no motive just a robbery turned fatal two robberies two deaths same mo well that's no coincidence and
24:49here three days before lucy's death the last cash drop so if henry was a contract killer and lucy
24:57pinnock was one of his last jobs then craig pinnock suddenly has really good motive to want henry ashby
25:06dead they were trying to scare me who was loan sharks i'd started gambling and um told myself i
25:18could get her out of control but i owed so much money and they were starting to hound me when they
25:22came to collect what you owed them you didn't have it and your wife was collateral
25:27i hate myself every day for what they did to her for what i caused but you didn't tell the police
25:37must have been eating you up alive inside the shame the guilt the rage and so you decided you'd hunt
25:46down henry ashby yourself i knew that the police would never find him because they didn't know the
25:51full truth that it was a professional hit not an easy job i mean that the trail was cold wasn't it
25:58for years the killer was hiding out here on saint marie how did you find henry well people i owe money
26:07to i did some digging eventually i found out who they paid to do their dirty work so you knew exactly
26:15who henry was and you came anyway if there was a chance i could look him in the eye get him to
26:23answer for what he did so revenge that was your plan you knew exactly whose house you're at that night
26:29okay look i admit i went there to confront him but i never laid eyes on him he wasn't there you went
26:35back the next morning to finish the job no i've already told you this i was on the other side of
26:40the island look whoever went there that morning to shoot him it was someone else it wasn't me
26:46something wrong officer rose or are you just exercising your thumb muscles hey i'm working
26:59actually had to scroll through this group chat to find this video but i did briefly get sidetracked
27:04by this chicken we're in carnival please be around the bush some more officer rose sir that tattoo you
27:10know how i thought i recognized it from somewhere boom three months ago henry saved a woman who was
27:17caught up in a riptide out at turtle bear he did no photos no press but somebody filmed it and the video
27:24went viral the man went in twice once for the old lady once for the little dog i printed these off
27:33you can see the pegasus tattoo in both so we have a trained assassin who saves poodles in his spare
27:39time but it means literally anybody looking for henry ashby could have seen that video and come to
27:47the island for revenge all right so maybe someone else on a white moped wearing a black top did go to
27:55henry ashby's place that morning and shoot him okay we're gonna have to check all routes to the woods
28:00behind henry's place and any road cameras along the way we should also look into who else knew henry
28:07mm-hmm that's it
28:08it's me
28:22the police are gonna want to talk to me but i don't want you to worry
28:30still no joy with the moped no sign of anyone else on a white bike who could have possibly shot henry
28:44what's about fisherman's way it's the fastest route to the house the only camera along there has been
28:50busted for weeks so it's the perfect time for lunch cold case hot prawns oh no seriously you have to try
28:58one of these captain crustaceans firecracker prawns but thank you but if you want real flavor oh you
29:07got to go to old man baptize behind the cricket ground my father used to take us after school but
29:12he's had this secret marinade legendary all right take your time they're spicy
29:23my man's got a little bit of a kick
29:28oh are you okay all right if we're speedy we'll make it to old man baptize before he shots we need milk
29:39interesting
29:42listen i didn't get to say this properly before but thank you for covering for me last night
29:56whatever it was you did or said that's okay sir i uh
30:03i know you're maybe not feeling like yourself at the moment yeah well um
30:10it's uh it's uh it's not been the best few weeks finding their brother then and going away again
30:17but you know mate i don't let those things get to me right right no sure you don't
30:25what what well we haven't seen you much in the last week sir all you do is stay in your shack and watch
30:36football i like football i know but it's a lot of football yeah well there's a lot of games listen
30:48let's just focus on the case what have you got actually those weekly shopping trips henry used to
30:57take he was pulling out 500 like clockwork that's some major coinage for groceries and guess who was
31:06depositing the exact same amount into their account the same day every week fleur baxter
31:16henry was bankrolling fleur's gardener why well doesn't look like it was for fertilizer
31:23hush money maybe but the payment stopped one was due friday never came when a couple of days later henry's dead
31:37it's true henry gave me money but you never thought to mention it
31:57why was he paying you he said it wasn't charity he had money sitting there doing nothing we're not
32:05talking about a few bobby mr turpin this is thousands it sounds a lot to me like neverage
32:12extortion no no no that's not what it was i would never he stops paying you you get angry decide to
32:17punish him and that's my son rio he was diagnosed with hudskins lymphoma
32:26the card did early but he still turned everything upside down
32:29the bills are waiting trying to keep things normal for him i was barely holding it together
32:37so then henry started helping paying for treatments wouldn't take no for an answer and last week
32:44rio got the all clear and the final thing henry said to me was that he didn't want a penny back
32:52do you get the sense henry was trying to atone for his actions saving that woman and her dog
33:05paying for baxter's kids health care i mean for a man who killed for a living he seemed to suddenly find a
33:11moral code in life detectives sorry there's something i need to tell you i wasn't sure whether
33:20to say anything fleur's been great to me really but it was a few weeks ago fleur is pretty out of it
33:31i tried to help her out to the sun and men like him always think they can get away with it she started
33:37muttering about henry she wasn't making a lot of sense i doubt she meant anything by it but it's been
33:45playing on my mind i told you there was a shot cut along fisherman's way i'm pretty sure you brought
33:53the sound barrier no no thank you for the memories oh i'll never know if it lived up to his hype
34:07sorry sarge makes me realize how long i've been away from saint marie come back expecting everything
34:13to be the same but things change right you don't regret coming back do you sarge no i couldn't stay in
34:21jamaica anymore it was right to leave do you miss him
34:29your ex no it just doesn't feel the same here you know that's uh just getting used to it
34:43right come on let's go back to the station
34:51let's try the back
35:08let's try the back
35:09miss edwards oh hello apologies for the mess
35:23they come as a pair inspector
35:27not really my taste to be honest what he really means is he's not much of um an arts collector
35:34uh please they're fragile like your relationship with henry yeah your gardener told us about your
35:42drunken threats who knew i'd hired chatty kathy what did you mean when you said men like him always get
35:51away with it he tried it on with me didn't like being rejected it sounded like you wanted to punish him
35:58for more than just making a pass at you what aren't you telling us you said was all i'm guilty of
36:08detectives is bruising henry's delicate ego i don't believe you i think you knew exactly who he was
36:16didn't you i haven't the foggiest idea what you're talking about i saw someone on a moped outside henry's
36:23place that's who killed him did you ever catch them inspector i'd sleep much better knowing you did
36:29us too we'll be in touch
36:41fleur's story isn't sitting right with me but she had an alibi baxter was with her in her house when
36:47henry ashby was shot and baxter's account checks out i spoke to the hospital everything he said about
36:54his son real is true which brings us back to craig pinnock who has motive coming out of his ears but
37:00he also has an alibi for the murder so what you're saying is the three people who could have shot henry
37:06ashby couldn't have shot henry ashby exactly that inspector one laptop lab fresh fully decrypted now that's
37:16more like it i don't think so inspector you have somewhere to be if you haven't forgotten which i
37:22sense you have mrs desiree how about i give you a lift there make sure you don't get lost hmm maybe i
37:30should take this good luck inspector inspector
37:45i bump into mrs desiree in church every now and then she makes the most superb ginger cake
37:55good for her you seem confused inspector well it's just that i thought you said she needed
38:03police assistance fixing her gate that's a handyman's job perhaps but if you hadn't realized
38:12the reason i asked you to do this was in the hope that you might learn something from it yeah yeah i
38:21figured as much going that extra mile for the community improving police relationships etc etc
38:28actually this was more about you than my community initiative
38:35me inspector i know the last week or so has been tough on you and might have had you even thinking
38:43about why you stayed on on this island maybe look i'm not gonna lie okay now that solomon and i have parted
38:55ways yeah it has had me wondering which is perfectly understandable but hiding away
39:03a bonding people not being part of this island's life you're missing out yeah yeah i hear you but
39:14you know fixing some old lady's gate you really think that's the answer oh yes thank you i'll be right with you
39:22the answer to your question i suppose you'll find out inspector
39:38don't i get any iced tea
39:39the speed and tickets where them catcher fisherman's way must have been when we were going to old man baptize
39:56i thought you said that camera was broken it's been taped off for months
39:59if it's working then maybe that's the route the killer took let's go
40:15inspector
40:21mrs desiree's gate bit back ah so
40:25i spent half the night going through henry's laptop he was researching fleur social media old
40:34exhibitions personal records it doesn't sound like a crush no he was looking for a connection and now
40:41i know to what
40:44fleur and lucy pinnock were housemates same university seemed super close lucy was using her maiden name so
40:54three months ago
40:55three months ago fleur moves in next door to the man who killed her best friend
41:00and now he's dead
41:04she was like a sister
41:06must have been a shock when she died
41:10it didn't make sense
41:13a robbery nothing really taken
41:16and she'd never be caught up in anything dangerous
41:19so what did you do the day before it happened
41:22lucy told me she thought a man was following her
41:27it spooked her she she described him his height his build
41:34said he had a tattoo a winged horse on his forearm
41:38i told the police they dropped it but you never forgot
41:42and then years later you saw a news story
41:46henry saving a woman and her dog
41:50all of a sudden there he was
41:53so you tracked him down to saint marie casually moved in next door and then made nice
41:57i wanted to understand how someone like that could keep on living
42:02and when you couldn't understand you killed him
42:04in case you'd forgotten inspector i was making lemonade something i was about to offer you but i'm
42:09thinking better of it hang on so you're telling me the man who robbed lucy of her life was on
42:14your doorstep and you did zilch of course i wanted him to pay
42:19to see the shame in his eyes when he realized i knew who he was
42:23what he'd done but i never got the chance
42:25i didn't kill him lucy's husband is out here too
42:32craig's on saint marie bit of a coincidence don't you think you two turning up on the same island
42:39you knew he was here
42:43okay um the night before henry died i did see someone on a moped outside his house
42:50it looked like craig my heart almost stopped i told myself if it was him whatever he was up to
43:00i wanted nothing to do with it and then henry turned up dead
43:07i gave you the number plate hoping and praying that i was mistaken and that craig wasn't involved
43:14he's at the center of everything just never where we need him to be inspector you're gonna
43:23want to see this but we just checked the speed camera on fisherman's way and it caught something
43:30okay so this is about six minutes away from the victim's house 10 21 the morning of the murder
43:36just wait for it boom right there sir guy in a blacktop on a white moped with the same
43:42registration plate as the one craig pinnock hired so craig pinnock did it we now know he drove to the
43:47victim's house at the time of the murder wait why did the street vendor say he was buying coconut water
43:56when it happened okay let's play this out ds thomas you be the victim over there please um officer rose
44:05you be craig just there and sergeant fletcher you be the vendor right uh phone
44:13okay go yes bro just grabbing a coconut water now ain't it yeah i'll send over them figures soon
44:20definitely not gonna shoot nobody today remind me never to take you undercover
44:27that's it it's simple craig wasn't actually on a call he was pretending like officer rose was just now
44:35he made sure he was seen and heard so that when we asked the vendor we were told the story craig
44:41wanted us to hear not the truth the vendor never knew the time only that craig was on the phone
44:48confirmation by us exactly the real call was made at 10 30 but from somewhere else
44:55craig shot henry rode a short distance made the call as planned at 10 30. finally his alibi has crumbled
45:03i'm telling you i'm innocent you lied about your alibi and they want us to believe you okay yes i
45:13haven't been telling the truth but come on please you have to give me one more chance 30 seconds okay um
45:22so yes i went to henry's house and i took a gun i was working myself up to killing him okay i admit it
45:29but but then i heard a gunshot okay and i thought he'd see me i thought maybe he was shooting at me
45:34but i didn't stick around to find out i just i i got on the moped and i and i and i went away and i
45:38and i i didn't look back and this gun your gun where is it now well i chucked it in the sea look i can
45:46show you exactly where please you have to believe me it wasn't me
45:52i'll believe it even though he's repeatedly lied to us throughout this investigation
46:04yep even though he admits to being at the victim's house at the time of the murder with a gun and a
46:10motive yep so if you think he didn't do it sir then who did having a scooby because it also can't be
46:18either of these and i'll tell you what's really bugging me about all this the victim's copy of
46:23this book was missing from his bookshelf and it hasn't turned up anywhere during the investigation
46:28so where is it wait you read the whole book in the last few days well i just speed read it so what
46:35was the story about well basically it's about a guy who tries to make things right and the only way he
46:42feels he can do that is if he well wait a minute because if you look at it that way that changes
46:54the whole perspective on everything a tale of two cities redemption hope the destructive nature of
47:01revenge do you get the sense henry was trying to atone for his actions they were trying to scare me
47:06who was loan sharks i'd started gambling and i had so much money and they were starting to hound me
47:11it's my son real he was diagnosed with hodgkins lymphoma so then henry started helping paying for
47:19treatments wouldn't take no for an answer if i have to read a book i usually start at the last page
47:25first serve the sad endings which would mean you worked it out i have and if i'm right about all this
47:34in a funny way the answer's been there the whole time the book yeah i think i know where it might be
47:41might be and that explains everything thanks charlie appreciate it
47:52ready boss
47:55second time look here
48:09second time look here
48:21second time look here
48:23second time look here
48:30a book
48:30a gun
48:39and a bullet
48:45let's start with this shall we a tale of two cities a story about redemption and sacrifice
49:01and at the back of this book henry ashby left a story of his own the main character in this story
49:10he dies in the end but he gave up his life to atone for what he'd done for a while we were
49:17looking for a killer that was never there because henry ashby wasn't murdered he took his own life
49:26henry's final words a suicide note addressed to you miss edwards written in the back of the book
49:34but also a confession to lucy pinnock's murder but why would henry take his own life
49:44and why now the past caught up with him
49:48fler you found the viral video recognized henry and you shared it with craig didn't you
49:56you finally found the man who murdered lucy after all these years but you didn't wait for craig
50:02you came out to saint marie alone you conveniently moved in next door to henry all this to get
50:09closer to the man who killed lucy and those drunken threats you aimed at henry that the gardener
50:15witnessed henry hadn't tried it on with you at all had he what was eating away at you was the thought
50:21that this man had got away with murdering your best friend so you insisted craig fly to saint marie
50:28henry was on to you wasn't he something felt different he seemed off with me drove in silence
50:40so you had to strike before he fled the island or did something even worse
50:45and together you orchestrated your revenge the plan was simple craig you would arrive at henry's place
50:53just before 10 30 you both arranged your alibis fleur you knew baxter would be at yours for his shift
51:01and craig you arranged a work call that you'd take a 10 30 after you shot henry then made out you were
51:08buying coconut water at the same time but then something unexpected happened didn't it
51:13because henry worked out what you had in store for him craig when you sculpt out henry's the night
51:20before his death we believe henry as a trained killer was watching you your actions craig tipped
51:27henry off that his time was up the past the guilt it was all coming back to haunt him and as a man who
51:38lived in control he chose the only thing he felt he could still commands the ending to his own story
51:45it's not the right way but in his mind it was the only option so sometime before 10 30 the following
51:54morning henry shot himself
51:57fleur you must have been confused had craig arrived early but when you found the body you also found
52:07the book and inside it something you weren't expecting the truth in a note left for you
52:17and once you'd read it you knew there and then that you couldn't let this die with him
52:22so you proceeded to stage a crime scene to make it look like henry had been murdered
52:28you took his gun the one thing he kept for protection given his past and you left the doors wide open
52:34you even scattered mud from the garden before firing a second gunshot at 10 30 from your kitchen
52:41breaking a plant pot and creating a false time of death
52:44a second bullet from a second gunshot which you recovered from your garden later that morning
52:53all that was left was to steer us toward the right culprit the moped number plate was smooth
53:00but why go to all that trouble
53:02her death haunted me most usually they had it coming but not her
53:13you see that's what's so heartbreaking about it isn't it craig because lucy was a real victim here
53:23and it's just as i suspected i spent my life following orders but this one was the cruelest
53:31your friend was an innocent woman and you should know the truth the hit was commissioned by her own
53:40husband
53:41you see the order didn't come from faceless loan sharks but from you
53:49you're the reason she's dead
53:52i'm sorry you've got this all wrong
53:54when will you finally stop lying
53:57you played the grieving husband seeking revenge when all you really wanted was silence
54:02you hired henry ashby a professional hitman to stage a botched armed robbery
54:08so you could cash in your wife's life insurance and pay off your gambling debts
54:13fleur i assume you held on to these the book the gun was your plan b in case your plot to stitch
54:26up craig was exposed you framed him for henry's murder because you couldn't go to the police without
54:33having to admit you and craig plan to kill henry so yeah this confession will ensure craig finally faces
54:43the murder charges for your best friend however i'm afraid your attempt to pervert the course of
54:50justice can't be overlooked craig pinnock i'm arresting you for conspiracies of murder
55:02she loved you and you sentenced her to death i hope it haunts you for the rest of your life
55:18so as soon as mervyn arrives we'll be ready to go
