00:00So hello everyone, welcome to INS and congratulations for Amar Vishwas that's about to be pleased.
00:04My first question is for all of you.
00:06What was it about the premise or your characters in the show that appealed to the artist in you and
00:11made you say yes?
00:12Anyone can take the lead and start.
00:14We studied the book which was given in translation.
00:18This show is based on a book by a very eminent Marathi novelist Mr. Swahas Shrivalkar.
00:27Since it was based on a book, my personal attention goes on.
00:32Because there is something documented before.
00:35And people appreciate it.
00:37So that was a big reason for me to go to this show.
00:43The character of course is a very interesting character.
00:50I mean, he also looks like he is a very good character.
00:56But his backstory, his personal life has its own.
01:00So I think and then the whole storytelling, different characters.
01:04These are the reasons for which I showed.
01:07Okay, and Avid.
01:09Bro, I found this show very, like he said, he's a protagonist.
01:15But everybody has a very gray shade to it.
01:18They are not trying to show anyone that he is good or bad.
01:23He is the one who is the one who is the one who is.
01:25I think that the realism of the show was great.
01:29The one that I narrated before.
01:32I always say not before.
01:35Because I feel scared that I will not do something wrong.
01:37I will not do something wrong.
01:38I think I am always scared of that.
01:39Now, when I am talking, I am realizing.
01:42Before I talk about it, I am afraid that I will not do something wrong.
01:45And then I will not do anything wrong.
01:47Because once I do it, then I go completely in.
01:49I like the premise of the show.
01:51I like the vibe of the show.
01:52I like the makers who are doing the show.
01:56And I just, then I go ahead with the show.
01:58And I like my character also.
02:00Okay.
02:01And Ravi sir?
02:02So, my take was very simple.
02:05When I got a scene to read.
02:10I said, let me at least see what it is all about.
02:14My introduction scene was sent to me.
02:18And that was a beautiful, beautiful scene.
02:21I mean, when I read the whole scene,
02:24I realized that the person's nature is like this.
02:27His attitude is like this.
02:30And he behaves like this.
02:31And by the time the scene got over,
02:33I was like,
02:34I have to do it.
02:36It is very simple.
02:37Like I said, instinctively it seems.
02:39You imagine it.
02:41And something clicks,
02:42that this is fun.
02:44And then eventually,
02:45when I read the whole script,
02:48you know, thank God, I was very, very right.
02:50And of course,
02:52Karthik and Arjun,
02:53they have been damn cool with it.
02:55So, patiently I would go sit with them.
02:59And then,
03:00Sheshan, finally the director.
03:03Fabulous job.
03:03So,
03:04I was in good hands.
03:06And I was happy.
03:06That is a total package.
03:07Yes.
03:07Karthik and Arjun have seen me in Jaisu's scene.
03:10When I was tested,
03:13I had seen Jaisu's scene.
03:14I had seen Jaisu's scene.
03:15I had seen Jaisu's scene.
03:16We know the characters.
03:18We know the characters.
03:18If you look at the show,
03:19you will understand.
03:21Have you seen it?
03:22I have seen it.
03:23I have seen it.
03:23I have seen it.
03:25I have seen it.
03:25It's done.
03:26It's done.
03:27And Rajiv,
03:28he said that,
03:28you know,
03:29there is a certain realism
03:30that's there in the characters of the show.
03:32When you have such characters
03:33who are morally or ethically grey,
03:35are they fun to play as actors?
03:37Always fun.
03:38Always.
03:39When a single layer of character
03:40happens,
03:41you have fun.
03:42But when there are layers,
03:44you are human
03:45and human beings are grey.
03:46It's my nature.
03:47We don't have any kind of
03:48that we all have our own grey side.
03:49We all have our own grey side.
03:51We all have our own grey side.
03:53We all have our own grey side.
03:54we have our own grey side.
03:57Like he said,
03:57we have our own grey side.
03:59There is no grey or white
04:03or black.
04:05So,
04:06that character,
04:06of course,
04:07to present that complexity
04:09is always a challenge.
04:11And if you understand
04:13and appreciate it,
04:14then your job was done pretty well.
04:18I'm not sure.
04:19And Amir,
04:20you said something in the last answer
04:21that your first instinct is to say no.
04:25Yeah.
04:25This is like very opposite
04:27to what Richard Branson,
04:29the owner of Virgin Airlines,
04:30once said that,
04:30you know,
04:31if you don't know how something
04:32will work out,
04:33always say yes,
04:34and then go about figuring things out
04:35as you go along.
04:36I want to know about your mindset
04:38that when you have something
04:39that comes to work,
04:40that comes to work,
04:41that comes to a new situation,
04:42how do you deal with it?
04:43How do you erect the boundaries first
04:46and then move along as you go along?
04:48In my life,
04:50I always say yes,
04:51but I don't know
04:52what will I get at lunch
04:53at my home.
04:54I don't know.
04:56I don't know.
04:56I'm going to eat my style
04:57and I'm going to eat
04:58and I'm going to say yes.
04:58I'm going to eat my style.
05:00But I love to speak
05:01and I don't want to speak
05:03about my work.
05:03I don't want to do anything.
05:06If someone is calling me
05:08at lunch,
05:09at dinner,
05:09at producer,
05:10director,
05:11I can't do anything for lunch.
05:13But when you're going to be seen,
05:15when your work is going to be shown,
05:17I have to be comfortable
05:18in what I'm doing.
05:19because I have to be 100% sure,
05:24I don't want to be comfortable
05:26if I'm not comfortable.
05:28Because yes,
05:29it's going to be
05:29beat life,
05:30beat commitment,
05:31beat your personal life,
05:34beat your girlfriend and wife.
05:37First think,
05:39then go ahead.
05:40You can't just jump into anything.
05:42I mean, that's my thought.
05:43I may be right or wrong.
05:44Branson is a very big man.
05:46But this is what I have seen.
05:48What you're saying,
05:49a very good saying
05:50that someone has said,
05:53first take a big bite
05:54and then try to figure out
05:55how to chew it.
05:56Yeah.
05:57That is what I think
05:58Richard Branson.
05:59He's different.
06:00He'd like to take his time.
06:01Yeah.
06:02Savor the taste.
06:04Look, if you take a plan,
06:05you put the property
06:06and paperwork together.
06:07Correct.
06:08You put the token
06:08and then the paperwork
06:10didn't get out.
06:11That's right.
06:12That's right.
06:12I'm beating Rajiv.
06:14We'll tell you about
06:15his story.
06:17It's always good to be sure.
06:19I like it like that.
06:21Okay.
06:22And Ravi sir,
06:22how's your process as an artist
06:24when you approach new work
06:25as an actor,
06:27as a creative producer?
06:27Like in Boogie Boogie,
06:28for example,
06:29new challenges,
06:29every new season,
06:30new people.
06:32How do you maneuver that?
06:34See, so,
06:35Boogie Boogie was
06:36where we are,
06:37who we are.
06:37Boom.
06:38Yeah.
06:38It's a reality show.
06:40Yeah.
06:40It's a reality show.
06:40What you are watching
06:42like this,
06:42it's our fun.
06:45So, I feel
06:47every type of character
06:48like he just said
06:50that no matter
06:51that you're good,
06:52you're just good.
06:53Yeah.
06:53You have layers to you.
06:55So, yeah,
06:55this side brought out
06:57the arrogant
06:59Ravi out of me.
07:00Okay.
07:01The cocky guy.
07:04You know,
07:05so it was great fun.
07:06Yeah.
07:06It's nice to explore
07:07your own moods,
07:08your own nature
07:09and figure out,
07:10okay,
07:11I can reach the scene
07:12here too.
07:14It's very fun.
07:15Correct.
07:16So, that's how I do it.
07:18And my next question
07:18is for all of you.
07:19You are the titans
07:20of your own game.
07:21You have seen
07:22the highs of the highs.
07:23There's one more thing
07:24that comes with it,
07:25the female fan following.
07:27Each of you has seen
07:28immense amount of that.
07:29how do you deal
07:31with the female attention,
07:32with the female fan following
07:33in your work?
07:34Anyone can take
07:35the leader's time.
07:36I don't know.
07:37These are both.
07:38You are being modest.
07:39He is sexy.
07:40I mean,
07:40all these new looks
07:42have come back.
07:43He wants to see me blush.
07:45I don't know why.
07:47All the aunts are crazy
07:48after Ravi's brother.
07:50No.
07:51To be honest.
07:52Rajiv I know
07:53has been athrob.
07:55When I started TV
07:55I have seen him.
07:57Girls talking about him.
07:59He will be modest.
08:00He won't be modest.
08:01I will say that he…
08:03Meera Saath,
08:05not that lucky with girls.
08:07The way these two…
08:08You are not lucky with girls.
08:10No.
08:10No, I am not.
08:11I am not saying that
08:13one or two complimenting him.
08:14You are not saying that.
08:15This is…
08:16What would I say?
08:17Simple…
08:18Now I will die.
08:21I am not saying that.
08:23I am not saying that.
08:24I am not saying that.
08:24I am not saying that.
08:26It is not just about female adulation.
08:28You are a guy and you love adulation from women.
08:32But it is not just…
08:33It doesn't end there.
08:34Yeah.
08:34Yeah.
08:34You have to go beyond that.
08:36There is a phase when you come to the start.
08:38And when you look at girls and look at girls…
08:41I love you both.
08:42You will enjoy it.
08:43You will like it.
08:43Not that I don't like it even now.
08:45But the point is, as an actor, you start looking beyond that.
08:49Yeah.
08:49And I think that is why I never repeated
08:52any romantic actor.
08:53I did not play.
08:53I said, okay.
08:54He is.
08:55And now, you start exploring yourself as an actor.
08:59I am a good actor or not.
09:03I think my whole journey has been about that.
09:05And that adulation will end today.
09:09It is always…
09:10It always has a shelf life.
09:12Yeah.
09:12The work will outlive.
09:14The work is all outlive.
09:15Okay.
09:16And Ravi, sir?
09:17So, it is very good.
09:21You know, when you are flattered, you feel good.
09:25But beyond that, yeah, adulation is adulation.
09:28Be it from women or from men or families.
09:33I did a show where mommy was special, daddy was special.
09:37You have done a lot of work.
09:38So, adulation is adulation.
09:40But yes, I agree.
09:42That more than this superficial visual, your looks and looks, what I feel good about is when somebody compliments your
09:50performance, you know, and the entirety of your performance, including your visual.
09:55And if you get into it, you get into it and you get into it, you get into it, you
10:00get into it.
10:01You get into it.
10:02You get into it and it works.
10:03Yeah.
10:03So, that's the best compliment I see.
10:05There's a lot of people and so on.
10:06So, people not getting into it, we don't have value.
10:09They can't have value.
10:09Tell us.
10:11Tell us.
10:12I don't need advice for him.
10:13This must be to be to a cold.
10:13Just ask for the adulation.
10:14Just sit in it and sit down and lay them on the bed.
10:18This must be a standard of value.
10:20It doesn't have value. It doesn't have value.
10:23What would be your way? I'll ask that way.
10:26How would you deal with it?
10:27I deal with? Adulation.
10:29With the adulation.
10:30Female.
10:30Female? Male? Across?
10:32They were right in one thing.
10:35As actors, we prefer being called to be good acting rather than being good.
10:42So, that's most important being an actor. I think that's for everybody.
10:47Women, I think actresses can be a little different or equal to the way you look and the way you
10:53act.
10:54But we always like actors to talk about acting.
10:59Like if they come and say, if you were good at acting, you were very good in the show, you
11:08acted really well, that would be up for us.
11:11Yeah, that was all.
11:12And you looked good. That is secondary.
11:14Okay.
11:14I agree with this boy. He's right.
11:18Okay. And for my final question, again for all of you.
11:21It's been roughly more than a decade since the medium of OTT made its way in India and continues to
11:26grow as we move forward.
11:29But of late, we have seen there are certain kind of shows that the response from public is greater to
11:35those kind of shows.
11:36Crime, dramas, violence.
11:39Do you think what happened with TV that we got stuck in a loop and didn't experiment is going to
11:44happen with OTT in times to come as well?
11:46I don't think so. I think OTT is here to stay.
11:49I don't think so.
11:49What shows are we making?
11:52We were making it internationally and now we make some fabulous shows.
11:57So, my TV career OTT was bad. I remember when I was doing TV, I had time to watch OTT.
12:06I had a lot of problems in my shoulder. Surgery. Then I had a lot of time.
12:10My first show, I saw Breaking Bad and I thought, what are we doing?
12:14It really shook me. Then I started watching so many shows.
12:18Have you seen Better Call Saul, the spin-off?
12:20Yeah, of course I saw. I mean, those are cult shows.
12:25So, my TV career was bad. I mean, it was OTT.
12:30I realized they're doing such good content and I want to do something like this.
12:35I want to be a part of work like this.
12:38and I don't think it's going to end so soon because
12:41they're doing the work on OTT is better than work
12:46in films that even in Hollywood do and even in India.
12:51The content is superb.
12:52Yeah, absolutely.
12:54And Ravi sir?
12:56So, I don't keep this idea that this is a film, this is OTT, this is a television,
13:02these are your reels.
13:07It's a film, this is a film, this is a film, this is a film.
13:13show. Look at how much you can do it. But you should have a basic right. If it's right,
13:20people will say, look at this. Now, I will give you an example. Suppose he called me
13:29yesterday. Bro, what's up? Chilling. What a good show. Bro, leave everything. For example,
13:37look at Amar Vishwas. Don't ask questions. Look at the first episode. It's like this. You know,
13:43you should have fun. That's the most important thing. So, it doesn't matter whether it's a feature film
13:48or an OTT platform or a television show. It should be good. And the work is on that.
13:55We have a lot of other things like this, this, this, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that,
14:02that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that,
14:06ultimately, that is what works. And Rajjiu, sir, any closing notes?
14:11To have you said that what is the future OTT? You're talking about shows that you are
14:15making a lot of different shows, and what is that change? I think, of course,
14:21Of course, in a few years there is a trend. We have seen this, when there is a TV, there
14:28was a channel before, then there is another channel, then there is another channel.
14:32So, when there is an overkill, there is a trend change. And then a new trend will come. So, to
14:37predict it is very difficult.
14:40What will happen after 4-4 years? You wouldn't know as to how it will pan out. But like they
14:45are saying, of course, good content is there to stay.
14:48Like they said, people don't know what they are saying. They are saying, this is a trend.
14:56This is an action trend. This is a comedy trend. There is no trend, boss. This is a good film.
15:04The genre is the one that is good. Today, you will make a good love story.
15:11You will make a good love story. It's a good work.
15:14So, it is a trend of love story. Then you will make an action film like Durandar.
15:18Durandar? Yes.
15:20There is no trend. The people who are watching misunderstands that this trend is going on. No, this film has
15:26made a very love story.
15:27It has a soul.
15:28What is the show on this OTT platform? It is a trend.
15:33It is a good show. Now it is released.
15:37Which one?
15:37Amar Vishwas. Amar Vishwas.
15:39Amar Vishwas.
15:39Oh, that show.
15:41I will recommend it.
15:42That show too.
15:42That show too.
15:43That show too.
15:44100%.
15:44So, with that, we have reached the end of this conversation.
15:46If you want to ask something from me or you want to say something, then you can say something.
15:50No, yeah.
15:51Absolutely.
15:52All of us have worked really hard.
15:53I think we all have 100%.
15:56Every actor, every director, every producer.
15:59This is a good show.
16:01We are very proud of it.
16:02All of us.
16:03And hope you like it too.
16:05Yes, yes.
16:05And it is released today.
16:0811th.
16:10Feb.
16:11Yes, yes.
16:11We are going to see Amazon.
16:13Correct.
16:14So, I just want to say, in all genuinity, watch Amar Vishwas.
16:20You guys are going to have fun.
16:22Great performances.
16:24Great dialogues.
16:25Great script.
16:26Why is that?
16:28If I don't even know about it,
16:29I will phone my friends and say,
16:31You will see it.
16:33Perfect.
16:34So, on that note, thank you so much.
16:35And I wish you all the best.
16:36Please take care.
