00:00Anthropics funding round the most recent one close to raising more than 20 billion dollars of backers including Peter Thiel's
00:06founders fund and D.E. Shaw. The deal would value the startup at about 350 billion dollars. Joining us now
00:12is Bloomberg's Neil Campling. Neil I mean with every funding round obviously its valuation goes up but are we hearing
00:21echoes of the old V.C. times when you know anybody would fund anything just to be involved in the
00:27exit.
00:28It's an interesting question that you pose. I think what it is is these funding rounds we're seeing are for
00:36some of the biggest AI models that are out there. So often they are the same backers for these particular
00:43technologies. And really it's betting that you're going to make more returns from betting on a number of these of
00:52these systems by choosing sort of one or two or three winners.
00:56And I think interesting here is that a lot of the open AI investors and we see Microsoft NVIDIA talked
01:03about in the articles as well as being being investors have also invested in the open AI.
01:08So it's not just purely on betting everything on one system. There's a number of winners that will emerge clearly
01:15from this from this particular AI trade.
