Russian drone strike kills father and three children in northern Ukraine, officials say

Last year was the deadliest for civilians in Ukraine since 2022 as Russia intensified its aerial barrages behind the front line, according to the UN Human Rights Monitoring Mission in the country.

00:00A Russian drone smashed into a home in Ukraine's northeastern Kharkiv region overnight,
00:06killing four people, a father and his three small children.
00:10The children's mother, who is 35 weeks pregnant, was badly injured, Ukrainian authorities said on Wednesday.
00:17According to the Kharkiv regional prosecutor's office,
00:20the strike completely destroyed the house and set it on fire, with the family trapped under the rubble.
00:26Rescue workers pulled the mother alive from the rubble, prosecutors said.
00:31The latest Russian aerial attack comes after a so-called energy truce,
00:36which U.S. President Donald Trump said he asked Russian President Vladimir Putin to observe expired last week.
00:43The truce was meant to allow Ukraine's energy sector a reprieve during what has been an extremely cold winter.
00:50Local authorities in Kharkiv have declared a state of emergency over the energy situation in the region.
00:56Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy condemned the latest attack,
