A look back at Arne Slot's Liverpool journey as the Reds go from Premier League champions to strugglers
Transcript
00:00From the first day I'm here, I feel that they support me and the team, but definitely me as well.
00:06It's been amazing, especially Sunday. It was maybe for all the Liverpool fans,
00:11but for many of them one of the best days of their lives and I think it was the same for me.
00:17If you are in a run of results like this, if you play for Liverpool, if you manage Liverpool,
00:22you know the pressure is there.
00:30You can look at it both ways. You can look at it, yeah, there are big shoes to fill,
00:44but you can also look at it in a way that you inherit a squad and a team that has a winning culture.
00:51And one of the reasons to come here, and there are always more reasons for this,
00:55but one of the reasons is that I do feel we have a really good team.
00:59He's been a great appointment. Everything I hear about him is positive.
01:03And when you see the performances on the field being as positive as they are,
01:07then, you know, they've got the right map.
01:16He helped me even more by the team he left behind and the culture he left behind in that team.
01:21The quality the players have was, I think, obvious for everyone,
01:24but the culture of hard work, the culture of, not only from the players, but also from the staff members.
01:40If you change quite a lot during the summer, then I think it's not a surprise that it can go
01:54a bit like this, but I didn't expect it to go.
01:57But you know what, for being totally honest, when you actually look at the games they've lost
02:02and the type of games they've lost, they can't handle the physicality of the Premier League this
02:06season. They can't.
02:07It's an exception this season for me as it is for the players. The players are not used to losing a lot
02:11or having a lot of draws. I'm not used to that as well. It's always more of a challenge after you lose
02:16a game of football to get them going again than after a win tell them that we were not as good as
02:21they might think they are.
02:22The reality is that we don't perform to Liverpool standards. I don't think anyone in this building
02:39would tell you that I completely changed. No, I didn't. But it is different after a season that we're
02:44having now than all the other seasons I've managed where we always did something special and there's
02:49still the possibility that we can do something special this season as well.
