00:00Nothing that happened on Sunday night unraveled anything I felt about this football team, what they've accomplished the regular season, getting to the Super Bowl, developing young players, working in old players, the chemistry, you know, Zach Corr.
00:17Like, there are so many fibers that came together to weave into this season for the Patriots.
00:23None of that changes.
00:24I mean, would it have been great, Fitzy, if they had won the Super Bowl?
00:27Yeah, that'd be awesome.
00:28If Drake May was 23 years old and he's holding the Lombardi trophy above his head, that's awesome.
00:34But nothing that happened on Sunday when they played, and we said this yesterday, Fitzy, right, the best team in football?
00:39Seattle was clearly the best team in football.
00:41They proved that over the long haul of the regular season and then really proved it conference-wide on Sunday.
00:48Yeah, not just the best team in the regular season, but also the team that played the best in the game that mattered the most.
00:52Right.
00:53They played three playoff teams.
00:55They embarrassed two of them.
00:57They embarrassed the 49ers and they kind of embarrassed the Patriots.
01:00And then the other team, the Rams, that they had to win a shootout with, a lot of people think is the next best team in football.
01:07Like, hell, I thought they might be the best team in football for a long portion of this season.
01:12So you lost to the best team in football.
01:14You didn't look great.
01:15But that doesn't undercut that Drake May was awesome, that Travion Henderson was up for the offensive rookie of the year, that Josh McDaniels installed his offense to perfection, that this defense came together.
01:26Nothing changed.
01:27So Fitzy, did losing in front of a massive audience in a very disappointing fashion on Sunday undercut or diminish anything about this season from your perspective?
01:38In my eyes, no.
01:40Unfortunately, in the eyes of a lot of the rest of football America, yes, sadly, it did.
01:45From the number of people that do not root for the New England Patriots that are not card-carrying members of Pats Nation nor Foxborough Faithful, people now sort of think like, yeah, they really weren't that good after all, were they?
01:57Yeah, Drake May's good and all.
01:59And, you know, like Mike Vrabel's a good coach.
02:00I hear the same two things.
02:02Drake May's a dude.
02:03Mike Vrabel's a great coach.
02:04But then it's like, yeah, well, they mentioned Will Campbell, not a lot of weaponry, the defense came together, but it's not that people go full fool's gold, Andy, but they do sort of mention, like, not as good as they thought a team that would have made it all the way to the Super Bowl should have been.
