00:00:31There's lots to talk about on the programme today but of course we're sponsored by Cameron Commercial Vehicles. If you're looking for a van, quality one, new or used, then Sean's your man. Get onto their website and you can take full advantage of all their expertise.
00:00:46At the BME headlines, Rangers and Celtic have been paired together in the draw for the quarterfinals of the Scottish Cup. The away team could claim up to 10,000 tickets for the match and away support are Ibrox. That would be huge. We'll discuss that.
00:01:02Jens Bertha Laskow reckons Motherwell can cause Rangers problems now that they have Mazwanisi back in attack. They didn't have him the last time they faced Rangers.
00:01:10And can Hibs scupper hearts hopes of a title win with a big victory in the Derby? We'll get Tam Stotts on that. He's getting ever more excited about it all.
00:01:20So there's your headlines. The good news all the way through the season. We might as well tell you that we are sponsoring and have been sponsored by Maggie's Cancer Centres.
00:01:32They are our main charity sponsor. And quite simply, if you or someone you know has been affected by cancer, then go on to www.maggies.org and you'll get all the information and support you need from that great organisation.
00:01:50So there we are. That's the start of the programme. People have been listening and commenting on what we're offering on the podcast as well.
00:01:59So thank you for your support on that. And there's lots more to talk about.
00:02:03But first and foremost, let's get to the Scottish Cup draw. This is how it all panned out after the games at the weekend.
00:02:10We'll dissect those games in a moment. But this is the draw. Here are the results, as you can see, first of all.
00:02:15And as you go through them, Airdrie 1, St Mirren 2, Celtic 2, Dundee 1, Dunfermline 2, Kelty Harts 0, Elgin City 2, Partick Thistle 3.
00:02:28It was Rangers 8, Queen's Park 0, Stennismoor 0, Falkirk 2 and of course Aberdeen and Motherwell and Dundee 8 and Spartans.
00:02:36Those games are still to be played because they were postponed at the weekend.
00:02:39So that is how it all looked in the Scottish Cup fifth round. And to the draw, might as well have a look at it now, see what you guys think of the draw.
00:02:49It's St Mirren against Partick Thistle, Falkirk against Dundee United or Spartans, Rangers against Celtic and Dunfermline against Aberdeen or Motherwell.
00:03:00So there you have it in its entirety. First and foremost, Alec, you're in the draw. Fantastic. How do you feel about it?
00:03:06No, pleased. We got to the quarterfinal League Cup as well. And ideally we'd like to get a home draw.
00:03:13However, I think the fact that we've actually got to this stage is encouraging and you actually start to dream a little bit, you know, how far you can really go.
00:03:21The boys were excellent the weekend. It was a tricky tie up in Elgin and credit to them.
00:03:26I thought their hospitality and, you know, it was great. You know, they looked after us since we arrived.
00:03:32They laid on a lot of food afterwards and we wished each other well. So it was a really good day all round.
00:03:371,200 fans travelled all the way up there as well, which was really encouraging.
00:03:41So just pleased to be in the next round, really.
00:03:43And you'd think they'd have given you a lensep when you were up there, wouldn't you?
00:03:47A lensep? I don't know what I need to do.
00:03:50Oh, it was nasty.
00:03:51Those two are sick boys today, aren't they?
00:03:53Oh, Ruffy's been able to make it today.
00:03:55They're dying over there.
00:03:55Yeah, I was not well on Friday, but I managed to weather the storm.
00:04:01But no, we're here with professionals.
00:04:04We didn't want to let you down.
00:04:04He must have been at death, don't know to come in here for a shift.
00:04:06Can I just say something?
00:04:07He must have been at death, don't know to come in for a shift.
00:04:10Tam, the thing about you two is he usually traps you.
00:04:14Oh, he does.
00:04:14Oh, no.
00:04:16If I get a sniff lamb now coming in.
00:04:17He must have been toiling.
00:04:19Honestly.
00:04:20Yeah, just one of the things, you know, that have iris.
00:04:23I'm sure a lot of the people have it out there.
00:04:25It just knocks you for six.
00:04:27And again, you don't want to let people down, don't you?
00:04:30But there's nothing you can do about it.
00:04:31Well, I saw four different religious ministers going into your house to read out some rites.
00:04:36So I thought he's definitely not coming in.
00:04:37You know, I knew it was tough.
00:04:40Anyway, apart from anything else, the other part of the draw, the big one, was Rangers Celtic, Tam.
00:04:46Yeah, and listen, it's a plum tie, obviously.
00:04:48I think they both will be favourites to win the Scottish Cup.
00:04:52I think whoever wins that will be hot favourites to win the Scottish Cup.
00:04:54But I think Rangers play Celtic twice at home now in seven or ten days.
00:04:58So once in the league, once in the cup.
00:05:00So it's going to be a crucial period at the start of March to see who goes on to win the league and win the cup.
00:05:05So I'm looking forward to seeing that full stand.
00:05:08Well, you say that, but Brian has just said to you,
00:05:10Peter, I wonder how many of the Celtic protesters will be applying for Scottish Cup tickets at Ibrox.
00:05:16Maybe a wee bit of hypocrisy.
00:05:17I think they'll all boycott it.
00:05:19They'll surely all boycott it.
00:05:20Oh, if they stick to the word, they'll probably boycott it, Peter.
00:05:23There'll be maybe a thousand there.
00:05:24But yeah, it'll be interesting to see how many are coming up for that since they're not going to the game now.
00:05:28Yeah.
00:05:28Do you think they'll take 10,000, Ruffy?
00:05:30Most definitely, I think.
00:05:32I think that stand only holds 7,000.
00:05:36They'll get the Brimlin.
00:05:37Yeah.
00:05:37I think it becomes a segregation issue then.
00:05:39Yeah.
00:05:41Yeah.
00:05:41I think the people who have been protesting now will feel a bit sorry for themselves if the club decide to give the tickets elsewhere.
00:05:49Well, everybody that was at the game the other night against Dundee should be first in line for tickets.
00:05:53The hardcore.
00:05:54Oh, yeah.
00:05:54Start a riot now, eh?
00:05:55They should be, they should be, they should be, they should be, they should be in the tickets.
00:05:59Yeah, actually, I think that even people who are boycotting were buying tickets, apparently, because it keeps up your points so that you can go to games further.
00:06:05Yeah.
00:06:06The other good thing about it, and I don't know if you remember, Alec, there was a, I think it was the semi-final at Hamden, and it was a 50-50, and it was, I mean, it was just absolutely, it makes it, doesn't it?
00:06:18Oh, without doubt.
00:06:19Even as a player, you can tell, you know, it's great.
00:06:23Yeah, and even going back, obviously, I think it was last year, it went up to about 2,500.
00:06:26Yeah.
00:06:27Once I got let go by Rangers, I think it was 10 days or something, two weeks later, I was in the away end at Park Ede.
00:06:34It was just great to be back down there.
00:06:35Yeah.
00:06:36A sample on the atmosphere, and if you remember rightly, I think Rangers were coasting at 2-0, 2-2, and then Eagerman got the winner.
00:06:43So it was a good day for the travelling fans, but just to be part of a group of larger numbers, because I think in recent years it's been pretty flimsy,
00:06:52and I just think it's encouraging just to see, you just went, the optics of it all, you know,
00:06:59when you're actually looking at it, you're seeing a really proper away fans.
00:07:03So I think overall, I think it'll be a really interesting tie.
00:07:06Yeah, I actually think, you know, we've been bleating on about it forever and a day, but I just think it just makes it, you know,
00:07:13it just makes it, if there's an away goal scored and you've got a mass of fans there, you know, it's fantastic.
00:07:20I mean, the overriding memory I always have of it, Ruffy's big DJ scoring, and obviously running over to the Celtic fans,
00:07:29and then he gave it that, brave at the jungle at the best of times.
00:07:35But at the Rangers' end at that time, in the old Celtic stands, when the ball hits the back of the net, there's a delay.
00:07:44It's a slow motion.
00:07:44Well, no, there's a delay in the sound, and then it just, boom, and then, you know, and there's nothing better, I think, as a spectacle, you know,
00:07:52you've got a huge bank of away supporters.
00:07:54I mean, obviously, I like playing them, I've got the chance to beat any of them, obviously, playing in my career,
00:07:59but when I finished playing and went with you to the games, you know, you could see what everybody was talking about with the full stand, you know,
00:08:07and it was the summertime, I don't know if Celtic were going to Seville, or Rangers were doing something,
00:08:11but the banter was just, like, sombreros and beach balls, beach balls, everything, you know, it was just...
00:08:19You were watching Bill right now, didn't he, Boroughby?
00:08:21It was brilliant. It was really good just to sit there until you sent me to get you a cup of tea and a pie,
00:08:29which I thought I wasn't coming back. I thought that was it. I think I'd gone.
00:08:32Yeah. Anyway, listen, it's absolutely fantastic, and the draw is well.
00:08:37Falkirk against Dundee United are Spartans, and Dunfermline against Aberdeen and Motherwell.
00:08:42Just fantastic there. I mean, we've already... I think we actually had a good hit rate of calling who was going to win.
00:08:47I think most people started to look for the favourites to get through.
00:08:52I went for a wee upset with Senus Muir to beat Falkirk.
00:08:55Yeah.
00:08:56Got the extra time, but Falkirk were the winners, but I think most of them were... we could call them.
00:09:01OK, give us your thoughts on the draw. What are you making with all Celtic fans?
00:09:05Will you be applying for your tickets on that? No chance of a boycott on it.
00:09:10But give us your thoughts on the games. We're going to talk about Alex's game as well.
00:09:14This will just keep riding high. Everything's rosy in the garden.
00:09:19Before we talk about them, don't forget we've got a brilliant event coming up April 16th.
00:09:23It's a Thursday night. It's the Road to the World Cup.
00:09:25We're at the Doubletree Hilton in Glasgow and Cambridge Street, and that is for a special World Cup countdown with former Scotland managers Gordon Strachan, Alex McLeish, and the assistant coach Mark McGee.
00:09:37We'll get undoubtedly tales from the 30 years, Old Firm showdowns, dressing room banter, and of course a look ahead to the big tournament in the USA.
00:09:47So, if you get a chance, go on to the website and you'll be able to get tickets there, and we'll post links to it as well on our YouTube channel.
00:09:57So, well worth it, and if you want to get the tickets directly right now, you can go and email beth at plzsoccer.com.
00:10:04Good luck with that. We'll see you on the day.
00:10:06So, to the games themselves, Celtic, oof, roughy.
00:10:13Torture. I think that was described by numerous, not like it's not too getting away from a day.
00:10:19The goal for me was probably the goal of the weekend. I thought they did particularly well.
00:10:24Celtic just, I think clueless was another word that was used, you know, something you wouldn't associate Celtic with,
00:10:31and it wasn't until the substitutes were made that they made the difference.
00:10:35So, he's got a lot of work in his hands. I know there's a lot of players coming in.
00:10:39You know, the new boy scoring, you know, gave him a massive boost, but you could see Stephen Fresley after the game.
00:10:45He was absolutely gutted, and I'm sure the players in the dressing room would be equally so.
00:10:50To go there and put in a performance that you put in and come away with nothing would be hard to take.
00:10:56I think the refreshing part of it all is, you know, once he'd got in the door, not flavour of the month,
00:11:04not somebody who the fans were favouring, got them organised.
00:11:09He knew they were shipping stupid goals in, you know, regularly, and he started to get the formation right.
00:11:15And then, after discussions with the board, he said, right, OK, now we're going to get you some forward-thinking players.
00:11:20What do you want? And he put together a list, and suddenly you've got players, I mean, Hamilton's goal was spectacular,
00:11:27but they've got forward-thinking players. Congreve will take on a player too.
00:11:31Yeah, they've actually got pace in the wider areas, and as I said, the boy Graham at the back's really getting a lot of suitors now.
00:11:36He looks as if he's grown in stature.
00:11:39You're absolutely right about Stephen Fresley, and the interesting thing about it is,
00:11:43a lot of weaker guys would have crumbled with that initial pressure up there.
00:11:47You know, so his personality has kind of shone when it really would have really needed it, self-belief.
00:11:52And what he's done is he's started to build something up there, and I hope that the Dundee fans are really pushing behind him now,
00:11:58because when you're going to Parkhead and you're putting on a performance like that,
00:12:01because people are going, ooh, ooh, relegation, and so all of a sudden they're seeing kind of shoots of progression throughout the club.
00:12:10And you're absolutely right, Peter, he's just going to give me a little bit.
00:12:12Imagine Elvis gets another few more windows under his belt, you know, and a wee bit more stability there.
00:12:17But I think he can go on and really start pushing on to the top half of the table and challenging to try and get into the top six.
00:12:24And with a bit more kind of luck, if you like, you know, because it's like it's getting into the dying embers of the game,
00:12:30and unfortunately they just couldn't see it out.
00:12:32But I have to say, I thought Celtic do with Celtic Day, you know, even though they're no great,
00:12:37they managed to bring a really kind of match winner off the bench in Tonecchi, and Tonecchi changed the game for me.
00:12:42Yeah, and with that in mind, I mean, again, I think we've got to pay tribute to them, Tam.
00:12:48I'm not blowing up a bit of everybody here, but on this programme, we've said from the early days,
00:12:52I was up at Denz Park on more than a few occasions saying, you know, he was saying,
00:12:57we're going to get it right, the boys are getting it right, he was adamant.
00:13:01And we've been saying on this, give him the time, you know, he's had great experience at Brentford.
00:13:06OK, they're out of the cup, but I think we all said we didn't see them being in a play-off.
00:13:12No, not at all, Peter. I think they've been a bit of a surprise package, to be honest.
00:13:16I think that when Stephen first went into Dundee, I think when he's first interviewed,
00:13:20he said that if they're looking for somebody to win things, then he probably wasn't the man.
00:13:24So, I think the Dundee fans took that the wrong way. I think we've been honest.
00:13:27You know, he's up there to try and keep them in division, and I think he'll do that this season.
00:13:31So, solely but surely, he's bringing players in and improving the team.
00:13:35As Alex said there, look, Graham was outstanding again at the back the other night, played really, really well.
00:13:39Was it a penalty?
00:13:39Yeah, I thought it was a penalty. I thought it was just inside the box, and the referee missed that one.
00:13:44But I'm taking nothing away from Dundee. I thought Dundee deserved to get through.
00:13:47I thought they really did, and I thought they were the better team from the first minute to the last.
00:13:51And Celtic just go to the death.
00:13:53You know, I've been part of that in teams before, where you think you've got them beat,
00:13:56or you've got a draw, and they pop up in the last members of the game and score.
00:13:59So, yeah, I think Martin O'Neill will be pleased to get through, but the performance has got to be better.
00:14:03And there's several Celtic players who are miles off, you know, real Hattati.
00:14:08I don't know what's happened to him. He was awful the other night.
00:14:11He looks as if he's just jogging about and doesn't know why he'd be there.
00:14:13But there's competition for places now, with Oxlade-Chamberlain coming in,
00:14:16and the competition in the forward areas for Celtic.
00:14:19So, that should drive them forward.
00:14:21But the main thing is getting through.
00:14:23But I thought Dundee thoroughly deserved to get through, and they were unlucky.
00:14:25Sorry, Peter. That's a bit of a talking point, because I thought it was a penalty as well.
00:14:28But then, obviously, the statement afterwards, it's like...
00:14:30Yeah, it's like a push where it starts, you know, the momentum, you know.
00:14:34So, it's almost as if you pull all the way into the box, it's a penalty,
00:14:38but if you push and then give them another push, and they take it back to the initial one.
00:14:41Yeah.
00:14:41It just seems a bit conflicting.
00:14:43And you know the thing about it, Alec, and we talk about it regularly on this programme,
00:14:47and sometimes you get it in the neck if you actually come into contact with referees.
00:14:51I don't often come into contact with them, because they don't mix in the nightclubs that I frequent.
00:14:55But, nevertheless, they constantly remain...
00:14:59No names.
00:15:01No names.
00:15:05Shut up, Ruffey.
00:15:06Shut up.
00:15:08I always come to any of you.
00:15:11I'm sorry.
00:15:12I'm digging this out, Ruffey.
00:15:13He's just telling himself.
00:15:15He's seen a lot of refs last weekend.
00:15:17You're a bad person.
00:15:19But, listen, joking, calm yourself.
00:15:22But the point I'm making is quite simple.
00:15:24You run into referees and they go,
00:15:25Oh, you just don't know the rules.
00:15:27Of course we don't.
00:15:28Players don't know the rules.
00:15:29Anybody who sits down and starts reading them all,
00:15:31you know,
00:15:32may as well go in and try and be a referee.
00:15:34That's what they're there for.
00:15:35They're there to interpret the rules.
00:15:36That's their job.
00:15:37You know,
00:15:38if sometimes along the way,
00:15:40pundits,
00:15:41journalists,
00:15:42fans,
00:15:43have to be reminded of
00:15:44paragraph four,
00:15:45subsection two,
00:15:46line five,
00:15:47then all well and good.
00:15:49You know,
00:15:49but more often than not,
00:15:51the rules of the game,
00:15:53we have a grasp of it all,
00:15:55you know.
00:15:55Well,
00:15:55that was the thing.
00:15:56When I read that,
00:15:57I had to re-read it
00:15:59and I'm going,
00:15:59have I got this right here?
00:16:00You know,
00:16:00and it seemed really foreign to myself,
00:16:03which will not surprise a lot of people,
00:16:05but I just,
00:16:05it's not as if it's something
00:16:06that jumps out
00:16:07and you've seen before.
00:16:08We all watch football
00:16:10on a regular basis
00:16:11and that was a new one to me.
00:16:13Yeah,
00:16:13absolutely.
00:16:14Ruffy,
00:16:16you know,
00:16:16they had,
00:16:17they had chances done D,
00:16:19they played some good football,
00:16:20they were,
00:16:21they had a,
00:16:22they had a clear set pattern.
00:16:24When I was watching the game,
00:16:25they were high,
00:16:26they were up there,
00:16:27they were pressing
00:16:27and they had a clear set pattern
00:16:30of how they wanted to go about the game
00:16:31and I think that in itself,
00:16:33you know,
00:16:34Stephen Presley deserves tremendous credit
00:16:36as well as the players.
00:16:37Yeah,
00:16:37I think Stephen Presley,
00:16:38his interview after the game
00:16:40was very honest.
00:16:41Did you think he was going to lose
00:16:42the plot
00:16:43and have a wee go
00:16:44at the time that was added on?
00:16:46No,
00:16:46I think he handled it
00:16:47particularly well.
00:16:49No,
00:16:49but do you think
00:16:49he would have been justified
00:16:50in saying,
00:16:50wait a minute,
00:16:5197 minutes?
00:16:51No,
00:16:52well,
00:16:52thing may,
00:16:53Tierney had been hit in the face,
00:16:55I don't know how long
00:16:55that had taken to pan out
00:16:58so certainly that would be,
00:17:00you know,
00:17:00a big part of it,
00:17:01you know,
00:17:01but it's when somebody says
00:17:03there's a minute to go
00:17:03or something
00:17:04and then it goes to like
00:17:05a minute and a half.
00:17:06You know,
00:17:06you obviously,
00:17:07being that kind of person
00:17:09you're going to say
00:17:10how did that happen?
00:17:11You know,
00:17:11but no,
00:17:12I thought he was very good,
00:17:13he said,
00:17:14we analysed Celtic,
00:17:15we know they're not playing
00:17:16particularly well,
00:17:17we analysed their weak spots
00:17:19and we all know
00:17:20where the weak spots are
00:17:21and you can see it's clear
00:17:22as then
00:17:23that they'd done that
00:17:24scale side,
00:17:26you know,
00:17:26scales bombing forward,
00:17:27you know,
00:17:28and no cover,
00:17:29you know,
00:17:30and they exploited that,
00:17:31they played a lot
00:17:31at that side
00:17:32and then they got
00:17:34a lot of success
00:17:34and well done to them
00:17:35for doing his homework.
00:17:36Yeah,
00:17:37absolutely,
00:17:37and as ever with these games
00:17:39there's always the memes
00:17:40that come out,
00:17:40you know,
00:17:41and they've got one up
00:17:42up there,
00:17:43you know,
00:17:44the additional time
00:17:45is until Celtic score
00:17:47and I think they've got
00:17:48a referee
00:17:49in one of the memes
00:17:50as well.
00:17:51It's amazing how things
00:17:52change,
00:17:53whether it's the Rangers
00:17:54or Celtic
00:17:54and it all depends
00:17:55when you've got
00:17:56a winning team,
00:17:56can we go back
00:17:57to the first goal
00:17:58when the boy
00:18:00healed it.
00:18:01Junior Adama.
00:18:02Yeah,
00:18:02the Celtic boy
00:18:03at the back post
00:18:04if he'd touched that
00:18:05it would have been
00:18:05offside.
00:18:07Very smart then,
00:18:08very smart of the guy
00:18:09to jump over the
00:18:09because he could have
00:18:11been a wee bit flashy
00:18:13and said I'll have this
00:18:14but well done to him.
00:18:15Yeah,
00:18:15and again
00:18:16as Martin O'Neill,
00:18:18you know,
00:18:18I'm sure he could,
00:18:19most Celtic fans
00:18:19think he can walk
00:18:20on water at the moment
00:18:21because he just
00:18:22keeps producing
00:18:23and those signings
00:18:28that you start to say
00:18:29can they hit the ground
00:18:29running,
00:18:30suddenly he's able
00:18:30to pull them off the
00:18:31bench to make that
00:18:32difference.
00:18:33Yeah,
00:18:33I think the,
00:18:34I thought Tanekki was,
00:18:35I don't know you're
00:18:36talking about the signs
00:18:36but see Tanekki,
00:18:37I've always said to myself
00:18:38you have to just show
00:18:39him down towards the
00:18:40byline because as soon
00:18:40as he wraps in
00:18:41he can go second post,
00:18:42first post,
00:18:43like the winning goal.
00:18:45So you're always
00:18:45saying just show him
00:18:46down the line
00:18:46but when he does that
00:18:47and then obviously
00:18:48Adama comes in
00:18:49from there
00:18:50but it was such a
00:18:50sublime touch
00:18:51just guides it
00:18:52towards goal,
00:18:53all the paces on the
00:18:54cross and I thought
00:18:55it's a great way
00:18:55to introduce yourself
00:18:56to the Celtic fans
00:18:57in particular I think
00:18:58that's a really nice
00:18:59way to start.
00:18:59The other thing
00:19:00as Alec pointed out
00:19:01there in Tanekki
00:19:02Tam is if anything
00:19:03some people have
00:19:04been slightly critical
00:19:05of him over the
00:19:06last few months
00:19:06and saying listen
00:19:07there needs to be
00:19:07more of the end
00:19:09product.
00:19:10Yeah,
00:19:10I think he's got
00:19:11something,
00:19:11I think he's talented,
00:19:12I think he's got
00:19:13good ability
00:19:13but as Alec said
00:19:15he's got to do it,
00:19:16he's got to produce
00:19:17the final cross,
00:19:18the final pass,
00:19:19the final shot,
00:19:19he's come on and
00:19:20change the game for
00:19:21Celtic,
00:19:21he came on and
00:19:22was really,
00:19:22really lively,
00:19:24you know he could
00:19:24go either side,
00:19:25he was going to
00:19:25the byline,
00:19:25cutting things back,
00:19:26he was cutting
00:19:27inside,
00:19:27whipping balls in
00:19:28and he really
00:19:29gave Celtic a spark
00:19:30off the bench
00:19:31and he was probably
00:19:32the main reason
00:19:33why they were
00:19:33going to win the
00:19:34game so I think
00:19:34he's got something,
00:19:36I think defensively
00:19:37at times he's poor
00:19:37and I think he's
00:19:38a wee bit flimsy
00:19:39at times,
00:19:39I think he needs
00:19:39to maybe bulk up
00:19:40a wee bit for
00:19:41Scottish football
00:19:41but I certainly
00:19:43think he's a
00:19:44talented player.
00:19:45Yeah,
00:19:46we like to read
00:19:47out a few things
00:19:48on our feed
00:19:49just to give us
00:19:50a wee bit of an
00:19:51edge and a
00:19:51noise up on it
00:19:52all and
00:19:54somebody did
00:19:56actually mention
00:19:56they were quite
00:19:57complimentary about
00:19:58you,
00:19:59as a Jags fan
00:20:00says Ian McGrath,
00:20:01tell Alec that
00:20:03both he and Mark
00:20:04are doing a great
00:20:04job and what's the
00:20:05chances of getting
00:20:06Scott Tiffany on
00:20:07loan?
00:20:07listen,
00:20:09I think we're still
00:20:10working behind the
00:20:10scenes,
00:20:11we've got until the
00:20:11end of this month
00:20:12to try and get
00:20:12someone in a loan
00:20:13and we'd actually
00:20:15like to try and
00:20:15get,
00:20:16as I said,
00:20:18we'd like to try
00:20:18and do something,
00:20:19you know,
00:20:19we weren't really
00:20:20overly busy in the
00:20:23January window,
00:20:24the saving grace is
00:20:25we managed to keep
00:20:26Ocean,
00:20:27McPherson and
00:20:28Josh,
00:20:29three loan deals
00:20:30at Bidwell for the
00:20:31opening part,
00:20:31so we've still got a
00:20:32bit of business to
00:20:32do hopefully.
00:20:33Yeah,
00:20:34Dede says,
00:20:35Peter get your
00:20:35facts right,
00:20:36it was 95 minutes
00:20:3757 when Celtic
00:20:39scored,
00:20:40Tierney was down
00:20:40in the 91st
00:20:41minute,
00:20:42for sake,
00:20:43okay,
00:20:45there's no need to
00:20:46be angry about it,
00:20:47it's only a game of
00:20:48football,
00:20:49I'm just saying,
00:20:50I mean I was
00:20:50waiting and I
00:20:52remember saying to
00:20:52someone on Saturday,
00:20:53I said,
00:20:53when are Stephen
00:20:54Presley's going to
00:20:55come out and have a
00:20:55wee pop there,
00:20:57but he was so,
00:20:58he really did,
00:21:00not because he
00:21:02should have come
00:21:02out and said it,
00:21:03maybe he just
00:21:03thought to himself,
00:21:04you know,
00:21:04he just was straight
00:21:06to the point,
00:21:07my players,
00:21:09performance,
00:21:10fantastic.
00:21:11He didn't want
00:21:13that time issue
00:21:14to overshadow how
00:21:15well his team did
00:21:16and become the
00:21:16story,
00:21:17so Elvis goes
00:21:18mad because of
00:21:18the times,
00:21:19so it's really good
00:21:20because he's putting
00:21:21all the praise on
00:21:21his players.
00:21:22Yeah,
00:21:22Oxlade-Chamberlain
00:21:23coming in,
00:21:25what do you make of
00:21:25that Ruffy?
00:21:26Well,
00:21:26we all know
00:21:27the height of his
00:21:28career,
00:21:28what a player he
00:21:29was,
00:21:30there's no doubt
00:21:30about that,
00:21:31he's now 32,
00:21:32he hasn't done a
00:21:33lot of game time,
00:21:34the usual,
00:21:35you know,
00:21:35his mates and
00:21:37all his people
00:21:37who he goes
00:21:38about to say
00:21:39he's still got it,
00:21:40so he has to
00:21:41prove it on the
00:21:41part.
00:21:42The New Bowsers,
00:21:43yeah.
00:21:44The New Yorkers,
00:21:45the New Yorkers,
00:21:45the New Yorkers,
00:21:45the New Yorkers,
00:21:46we bumped into
00:21:47a few of them.
00:21:48Papers,
00:21:48oh,
00:21:49the empty hair,
00:21:50they're saying,
00:21:51well,
00:21:52when has that
00:21:53ever happened,
00:21:53they've said he's
00:21:54rotten,
00:21:54let's see,
00:21:55you know,
00:21:56the only judgment
00:21:57will be when you
00:21:58get him on the
00:21:59part and everybody
00:21:59can make their
00:22:00own ideas up,
00:22:02you know,
00:22:02but certainly he
00:22:03has got something.
00:22:04When's he going
00:22:05on the part?
00:22:05That's a big
00:22:06question.
00:22:06Yeah.
00:22:06Yeah,
00:22:07I will.
00:22:07The thing is,
00:22:08I'm telling you
00:22:08right now,
00:22:09you're bringing
00:22:09people in who
00:22:10haven't played
00:22:11since the summer,
00:22:12you think about
00:22:14the players they've
00:22:14come up against
00:22:15right away,
00:22:16they've got like
00:22:1630 games,
00:22:1740 games under
00:22:17their belt right
00:22:18away,
00:22:18and then you have
00:22:19to get them,
00:22:20and they might
00:22:20actually manage
00:22:20for a couple of
00:22:21games,
00:22:21but the problem
00:22:21is you're running
00:22:22a risky injury,
00:22:23because you
00:22:24load too quickly.
00:22:25I give you
00:22:26a natural,
00:22:28same thing,
00:22:29two hamstrings.
00:22:30Now,
00:22:30I'm not suggesting
00:22:31that's going to...
00:22:31You've got to
00:22:32battle them
00:22:32fitness-wise to
00:22:33get them up to
00:22:33speed,
00:22:33but then you
00:22:34do that,
00:22:34as Alex said.
00:22:35You're running
00:22:35a risk.
00:22:36But what does
00:22:37he do?
00:22:38What's his
00:22:38options?
00:22:39They've got to
00:22:39give him a
00:22:39kind of many
00:22:40pre-season kind
00:22:40of thing,
00:22:41I'm sure he'll
00:22:41be working hard,
00:22:42they'll be training
00:22:42with the team,
00:22:42then he'll be
00:22:43doing extra
00:22:43running after it.
00:22:44Yeah.
00:22:44But I've been
00:22:45in that situation
00:22:46before,
00:22:46when you've not
00:22:46been playing,
00:22:47you come in
00:22:53do you ever
00:22:53have no playing?
00:22:55No.
00:22:58You too.
00:23:01You never
00:23:02moved anyway,
00:23:06you didn't,
00:23:07there was no
00:23:07chance,
00:23:07have you ever
00:23:08pulled a hamstring
00:23:09in your life?
00:23:10I actually
00:23:11played a couple
00:23:11of games with
00:23:12a broken ankle.
00:23:13What?
00:23:14Solid.
00:23:16The plaster
00:23:17was a bit
00:23:17of hindrance
00:23:18but I thought
00:23:18was it.
00:23:23I wonder
00:23:24what he's
00:23:26going to do.
00:23:27Where's he
00:23:27going to play?
00:23:28Well,
00:23:28Hugh Scott
00:23:29says,
00:23:30Peter,
00:23:31let's just
00:23:31see how
00:23:31Oxlade
00:23:32Chamberlain
00:23:32does,
00:23:33see if
00:23:34he's able
00:23:35to mix
00:23:38things up.
00:23:39I presume
00:23:39he's married
00:23:40to somebody
00:23:40from Little
00:23:40Mix,
00:23:41is he?
00:23:42Yeah,
00:23:42I did see
00:23:43one of them
00:23:44dancing up
00:23:45the stairs
00:23:45but I think
00:23:46that was a
00:23:46few years
00:23:46ago.
00:23:47Listen,
00:23:48at the end
00:23:49of the day,
00:23:50he's got
00:23:51him in,
00:23:51before he
00:23:52got him
00:23:53in,
00:23:53you said
00:23:53if he
00:23:53could get
00:23:54him in
00:23:54it would
00:23:54be a
00:23:54great
00:23:55signing.
00:23:56So,
00:23:56I get
00:23:57the sneaky
00:23:57feeling that
00:23:58Martin will
00:23:58look and
00:23:59say,
00:23:59OK,
00:24:00you know,
00:24:0120 minutes
00:24:02here,
00:24:0215 there,
00:24:03maybe just
00:24:03to ease
00:24:04him in.
00:24:04I think
00:24:04he leads
00:24:04him in,
00:24:05Peter,
00:24:05but I
00:24:05think
00:24:05there's
00:24:06definitely
00:24:06a spot
00:24:06up for
00:24:06grabs
00:24:07in that
00:24:07Celtic
00:24:07midfield.
00:24:08Is
00:24:08a number
00:24:08eight?
00:24:09Yeah,
00:24:09I think
00:24:09Rio
00:24:09Hattati for
00:24:10me is
00:24:10miles
00:24:11off the
00:24:11pace.
00:24:11I
00:24:11thought
00:24:11again
00:24:12the other
00:24:12night
00:24:12he was
00:24:12poor.
00:24:13He was
00:24:13fortunate
00:24:14to last
00:24:1469 minutes.
00:24:15So you've
00:24:15changed your
00:24:16mind now
00:24:16on the
00:24:16three then?
00:24:17No,
00:24:17I think
00:24:17he could
00:24:17go and
00:24:17play in
00:24:17there with
00:24:18Ingles and
00:24:20McGregor.
00:24:21So you
00:24:21had Ingles
00:24:22drop last
00:24:23week?
00:24:23No,
00:24:23no,
00:24:23never.
00:24:24Ingles and
00:24:24McGregor
00:24:25Hattati for
00:24:26me is the
00:24:26one.
00:24:27He can't
00:24:27knock back
00:24:2720 plus
00:24:28players.
00:24:28He'll be
00:24:30playing.
00:24:31But as I
00:24:32said,
00:24:32I don't know
00:24:33where he's
00:24:33going.
00:24:33I think
00:24:34he's probably
00:24:34a centre
00:24:34midfield
00:24:34player and
00:24:35I don't
00:24:35think he's
00:24:35got the
00:24:35legs to
00:24:36go and
00:24:36play wide.
00:24:36So I
00:24:37think he'll
00:24:37go in and
00:24:38be competition
00:24:39for places
00:24:39in the
00:24:39middle of
00:24:40the park.
00:24:40OK,
00:24:41Alec,
00:24:41you're not
00:24:41allowed to
00:24:42answer the
00:24:42quiz question,
00:24:43OK?
00:24:44So it's just
00:24:45one of those
00:24:45things.
00:24:46So the
00:24:47quiz question
00:24:47is,
00:24:48courtesy of
00:24:49Elite Joinery
00:24:50and Fire
00:24:50Protection,
00:24:51which club
00:24:52did Rangers
00:24:53sign James
00:24:54Tavernier
00:24:54from?
00:24:55I hope
00:24:56there's
00:24:56options.
00:24:59Ruffy?
00:25:00No,
00:25:00I'd be
00:25:01guessing.
00:25:01It's not
00:25:01long ago.
00:25:02Do you
00:25:02know that
00:25:03one?
00:25:04I need
00:25:04to think
00:25:04about it.
00:25:05Yeah,
00:25:05have a
00:25:05think about
00:25:05it.
00:25:05We'll
00:25:06give you
00:25:06the answer
00:25:06at the
00:25:07end.
00:25:08And also
00:25:09I think
00:25:09from your
00:25:10own point
00:25:10of view,
00:25:10you'll
00:25:11absolutely
00:25:11stroll
00:25:12that.
00:25:13Yeah,
00:25:14they have
00:25:14a team
00:25:15as well.
00:25:15Yeah,
00:25:16absolutely.
00:25:17Fantastic.
00:25:18OK,
00:25:18we'll give
00:25:18you the
00:25:18answer to
00:25:19that from
00:25:20our quiz
00:25:21sponsors,
00:25:22Elite
00:25:22Joinery and
00:25:22Fire
00:25:23Protection.
00:25:23Which
00:25:24team did
00:25:24Rangers
00:25:25sign James
00:25:26Tavernier
00:25:26from?
00:25:27143
00:25:28goals,
00:25:28not too
00:25:29bad,
00:25:30not too
00:25:30bad.
00:25:30Incredible
00:25:31where there's
00:25:31currently
00:25:3213 goals.
00:25:33And do you
00:25:33know the other
00:25:34thing about it?
00:25:34Is that what it
00:25:37is?
00:25:38No.
00:25:39He said it
00:25:41was such a
00:25:41serious face.
00:25:42Can I just
00:25:42say something
00:25:43to you?
00:25:43There's a
00:25:45yo-yo on
00:25:46the opinions
00:25:48on him.
00:25:48I have
00:25:49remained
00:25:49steadfast
00:25:50with him.
00:25:52I like him
00:25:52as a
00:25:54player going
00:25:55forward.
00:25:56I'm not
00:25:56interested in
00:25:57the criticism
00:25:59that's come
00:26:00his way.
00:26:01Get him
00:26:02out,
00:26:02keep him
00:26:03in,
00:26:03he's good,
00:26:04he's rubbish.
00:26:05This is a
00:26:05player who's
00:26:06scored 143
00:26:07goals and
00:26:08quite simply,
00:26:09when he
00:26:09leaves,
00:26:10there will
00:26:11be a
00:26:11different
00:26:11narrative
00:26:12on it
00:26:12because you're
00:26:12filling a
00:26:13gap that's
00:26:14a lot of
00:26:14goals.
00:26:15Very difficult
00:26:15to replace
00:26:15that,
00:26:16without a
00:26:16doubt.
00:26:16And I
00:26:16think when
00:26:17you actually
00:26:17look at the
00:26:17fee,
00:26:18I think it
00:26:18was 250
00:26:19grand.
00:26:20Where from?
00:26:22You try,
00:26:24Robbie,
00:26:24well done.
00:26:25I think he's,
00:26:26you know,
00:26:27and you're
00:26:27right about
00:26:27splitting
00:26:28opinions.
00:26:31He,
00:26:31he's played
00:26:32less this
00:26:33year,
00:26:33you know,
00:26:33he hasn't
00:26:34really been
00:26:34a mainstay
00:26:35as you like,
00:26:35and I
00:26:36think Danny
00:26:36Rose used
00:26:36him really
00:26:37well,
00:26:37but when you
00:26:37consider that
00:26:38he's still
00:26:38currently on
00:26:3913 goals,
00:26:41and I
00:26:41think he's
00:26:41reliable,
00:26:42I think his
00:26:42availability is
00:26:43one of the
00:26:43key things for
00:26:44Tav as well,
00:26:44he's very rarely
00:26:45injured,
00:26:47he traps up for
00:26:47training every
00:26:48day,
00:26:48so as a
00:26:50coach,
00:26:50and you know,
00:26:51it's one of the
00:26:52things you look
00:26:52for,
00:26:53availability,
00:26:53and he's been
00:26:54there for,
00:26:55what is it,
00:26:5511 years now,
00:26:56so he deserves
00:26:57everything to get,
00:26:58and the
00:26:58interesting question
00:26:59would be,
00:26:59he's obviously
00:26:59come to the end,
00:27:00he's got a
00:27:01testimonial in the
00:27:01summer,
00:27:01and the
00:27:03question would
00:27:03be,
00:27:03would he be
00:27:04entitled to
00:27:05the old
00:27:06one year
00:27:06added,
00:27:07because at
00:27:07his age he's
00:27:08not going to
00:27:08get two and
00:27:09three year
00:27:09deals,
00:27:10so would
00:27:11they give
00:27:11him it,
00:27:12you know,
00:27:12because of
00:27:13what I just
00:27:13said,
00:27:13availability,
00:27:14traps up
00:27:15with goals
00:27:15and assists,
00:27:17and then he's
00:27:17obviously been
00:27:17over the
00:27:18course and
00:27:18distance,
00:27:19so potentially
00:27:20maybe nick
00:27:20another year.
00:27:21Would you
00:27:21not like to,
00:27:23if you were
00:27:23James Tavernier,
00:27:24say to yourself,
00:27:24well I've got
00:27:25my testimonial,
00:27:26which is great,
00:27:27I'm now at
00:27:29the end of my
00:27:29contract,
00:27:30why don't I
00:27:30go away for
00:27:31two or three
00:27:31somewhere and
00:27:32sign and
00:27:33earn a wee
00:27:34bit of money
00:27:34on that
00:27:34signing on
00:27:35for you?
00:27:35Saudi.
00:27:36Yeah,
00:27:36listen,
00:27:37I actually
00:27:37don't know
00:27:38what his
00:27:38plans is,
00:27:39but the
00:27:40one thing
00:27:41about it
00:27:41is,
00:27:42it depends
00:27:43on his
00:27:44hunger,
00:27:44ultimately
00:27:45it'll come
00:27:45down to
00:27:45hunger,
00:27:45and ultimately
00:27:47see when it
00:27:48comes to
00:27:48that day
00:27:48you go,
00:27:49I'm not
00:27:49going to
00:27:50get up
00:27:50any more,
00:27:50it's
00:27:50becoming
00:27:50a problem,
00:27:51but this
00:27:51boy's not
00:27:51at that
00:27:52stage.
00:27:52No,
00:27:53I don't
00:27:53think so,
00:27:53you're
00:27:53right.
00:27:54Give me
00:27:54another
00:27:54Sally,
00:27:55from a
00:27:55football
00:27:56and a
00:27:56lot of
00:28:01three,
00:28:07centre-half,
00:28:07surely
00:28:08they know
00:28:08he's
00:28:09bombing
00:28:09forward,
00:28:10he's
00:28:10going to
00:28:10win,
00:28:11surely
00:28:11it's up
00:28:11to the
00:28:11centre-half
00:28:13to say,
00:28:13well I'll
00:28:13just go
00:28:14out there
00:28:15and give
00:28:15this boy
00:28:16a hand.
00:28:17I blame
00:28:17the centre-half
00:28:18on that
00:28:18side that
00:28:19doesn't
00:28:19cover for
00:28:20him.
00:28:20I think
00:28:21Rangers,
00:28:22for as long
00:28:22as I can
00:28:22remember,
00:28:23I could be
00:28:23wrong here,
00:28:24but say the
00:28:24last decade
00:28:25under his
00:28:25time,
00:28:26the majority
00:28:26of times
00:28:27they have
00:28:27played as
00:28:27a back
00:28:28four.
00:28:29I think
00:28:29recently
00:28:29Danny Rose
00:28:30went with
00:28:30a three and
00:28:31so forth,
00:28:31and I
00:28:32also think
00:28:32the number
00:28:33six is
00:28:33really
00:28:33pivotal
00:28:34when you've
00:28:35got full
00:28:35backs
00:28:36constantly
00:28:36bombing
00:28:36forward,
00:28:37he has
00:28:37to be
00:28:37the one
00:28:38that helps
00:28:38and gives
00:28:38a bit of
00:28:39protection
00:28:39in the
00:28:39transition.
00:28:40Connor
00:28:41Golsan
00:28:41was quite
00:28:41good for
00:28:42him at
00:28:42times as
00:28:42well,
00:28:42where he
00:28:43would roll
00:28:43around as
00:28:44a back
00:28:45forward,
00:28:45and when
00:28:46Tab
00:28:46went
00:28:46forward,
00:28:47he would
00:28:47more be
00:28:48over that
00:28:48ball
00:28:48side.
00:28:49There has
00:28:51been lapses,
00:28:52I don't
00:28:52think he can
00:28:52get away
00:28:53with that.
00:28:54Overall,
00:28:55when we
00:28:56do look
00:28:56back,
00:28:57he's
00:28:58done
00:28:59really
00:28:59well for
00:28:59the money
00:29:00that he
00:29:00costs,
00:29:01it's been
00:29:01a snip.
00:29:04If you're
00:29:05looking as
00:29:06an assistant
00:29:06and you've
00:29:07been in a
00:29:07manager's role
00:29:08as well,
00:29:09what would
00:29:10be the
00:29:10immediate
00:29:10thing you'd
00:29:11look at
00:29:11with James
00:29:12and say?
00:29:13Reliability.
00:29:13He's there
00:29:14constantly,
00:29:14so see the
00:29:15thing is,
00:29:15when you're
00:29:18in modern
00:29:18day football
00:29:18and you're
00:29:19playing especially
00:29:19Rangers every
00:29:20three days,
00:29:21when you're
00:29:22actually trapping
00:29:22up on a
00:29:23regular basis
00:29:24without any
00:29:25injuries,
00:29:25that's a hard
00:29:26thing to do,
00:29:26Peter.
00:29:26What would you
00:29:27do when you're
00:29:27sitting in a
00:29:28manager's office?
00:29:28The two of
00:29:29you,
00:29:30you and
00:29:30Mark,
00:29:30and you
00:29:30say,
00:29:30we'll get
00:29:31James Tavern
00:29:31here,
00:29:32he's got
00:29:32a weakness,
00:29:33sometimes it's
00:29:34set pieces,
00:29:34he doesn't
00:29:35watch the
00:29:35man on
00:29:35his shoulder,
00:29:36sometimes he's
00:29:37caught bombing
00:29:38forward and
00:29:38the ball's in
00:29:39behind him,
00:29:40so what would
00:29:41you and
00:29:41Mark sit
00:29:42down and
00:29:42say,
00:29:42or you,
00:29:42if you were
00:29:43the manager,
00:29:43and say,
00:29:44well,
00:29:44listen,
00:29:45in Britain we
00:29:46tend to,
00:29:46you know,
00:29:47we build
00:29:47people up,
00:29:48then we
00:29:48absolutely
00:29:48annihilate them
00:29:49and look for
00:29:49their weaknesses,
00:29:50so what would
00:29:50you say about,
00:29:52I know when he's
00:29:53good going
00:29:53forward,
00:29:58accommodate,
00:29:59there's strikers
00:30:00who are good
00:30:00at things.
00:30:01No,
00:30:01I think if you
00:30:02were trying to
00:30:03take a,
00:30:04because the one
00:30:04thing about him
00:30:05is he's had a
00:30:05licence to bomb
00:30:06forward,
00:30:06so the majority
00:30:08of coaches would
00:30:09be saying,
00:30:10listen,
00:30:10we're happy
00:30:11we've seen
00:30:11going forward
00:30:12and whatever
00:30:12that off-shot
00:30:14is,
00:30:15then we pay
00:30:16that price,
00:30:16but the thing
00:30:17is,
00:30:17as a team,
00:30:18you have to be
00:30:19better placed
00:30:20when he is
00:30:21bombing forward
00:30:21and a rest
00:30:22defence so that
00:30:23you're no daydreaming
00:30:23and then all of a
00:30:24sudden you've got
00:30:25this big gap,
00:30:25which we've seen
00:30:26at times,
00:30:26so I think if you
00:30:27were sitting in
00:30:28that situation,
00:30:29you would be
00:30:29saying to the
00:30:30other defenders,
00:30:31when he's there,
00:30:32your left back
00:30:32narrows round
00:30:33and you become
00:30:33more like a
00:30:35pendulum,
00:30:36when he goes up
00:30:36there,
00:30:37you just narrow
00:30:37back round
00:30:38because clearly
00:30:38the opposition
00:30:39will try and
00:30:41exploit that,
00:30:43so I think
00:30:44Rangers have
00:30:46done this so
00:30:46much better
00:30:47under Danny
00:30:47Rowe as well.
00:30:488-0,
00:30:49there was no
00:30:50thought whatsoever
00:30:51of the same
00:30:53shock as last
00:30:53season,
00:30:55so the
00:30:56point,
00:30:57Ryan Nadiri,
00:30:58will be
00:30:59absolutely
00:30:59delighted to
00:31:00come in,
00:31:01obviously the
00:31:01first one was
00:31:02soft,
00:31:04but he doesn't
00:31:04care,
00:31:05he got a good
00:31:06header in and
00:31:07managed to bag
00:31:07himself a couple.
00:31:09Yeah and that's
00:31:09what you want,
00:31:09as a striker going
00:31:10to a new club,
00:31:11you want to get
00:31:11off the mark as
00:31:12soon as possible,
00:31:12you want to get
00:31:13the fans behind
00:31:13you,
00:31:13he's come in for
00:31:14a hefty fee for
00:31:15Rangers point of
00:31:16view,
00:31:16he's still young,
00:31:17so he's got off
00:31:18to a flying start,
00:31:18he's got a couple
00:31:19of goals,
00:31:19he looked well,
00:31:20linked the game
00:31:20well and I
00:31:21thought he looked
00:31:22sharp,
00:31:22okay Queen's part,
00:31:23not the opposition,
00:31:24not great opposition,
00:31:25but all you can
00:31:26do as a striker
00:31:27is go and score
00:31:27goals and he
00:31:28looked dangerous
00:31:28all day,
00:31:30Mijofsky come on
00:31:30and scored as
00:31:31well again,
00:31:32scored a good
00:31:33goal,
00:31:33to have him
00:31:34to get the
00:31:34hat-tricks,
00:31:34all in all,
00:31:35Rangers from
00:31:36looking as if
00:31:37where's the
00:31:37creativity,
00:31:38where's the
00:31:38goals,
00:31:39the last two
00:31:39games,
00:31:40a week ago
00:31:40was a long
00:31:40time in
00:31:40football,
00:31:41scored 13
00:31:43goals in two
00:31:43games,
00:31:44so that's going
00:31:45to give all
00:31:46those strikers,
00:31:46all the floor
00:31:47players bags of
00:31:47confidence,
00:31:48it doesn't matter
00:31:48who the opposition
00:31:49are,
00:31:49if you're hitting
00:31:50the back of the
00:31:50net,
00:31:50it drives the
00:31:51confidence in the
00:31:55and I always
00:31:56think that drives
00:31:57the club forward
00:31:58as well,
00:31:58so I think
00:31:58it's a brilliant
00:31:59week for Rangers
00:31:59in terms of
00:32:00goals and
00:32:01confidence within
00:32:02the club will be
00:32:03flying.
00:32:03Isn't it amazing
00:32:04though when you've
00:32:04got that momentum
00:32:05when you're on
00:32:05that run,
00:32:07suddenly there's
00:32:07not as much of
00:32:08a focus on
00:32:10the new players
00:32:11coming in,
00:32:11you can ease
00:32:12them in,
00:32:13you can let them
00:32:13find their feet
00:32:14because before
00:32:15when they weren't
00:32:16getting the results,
00:32:18suddenly,
00:32:18he's hopeless,
00:32:21you've signed him,
00:32:21where's he come
00:32:22from,
00:32:22you know what I
00:32:23mean?
00:32:23We tend to live
00:32:24in a very reactive
00:32:25within a couple
00:32:26of games,
00:32:26he's hopeless,
00:32:28who's signed
00:32:28him?
00:32:28He's got to go
00:32:29as well,
00:32:29he's crap
00:32:30and ultimately
00:32:31what buys you
00:32:34time is wins
00:32:35and it just
00:32:36allows you to
00:32:37settle into the
00:32:38clubs because
00:32:39it does take
00:32:39time,
00:32:40it doesn't matter
00:32:40where you are
00:32:41and obviously
00:32:41this boy,
00:32:42Nidiri scored
00:32:42a couple of
00:32:42goals,
00:32:43I was encouraged
00:32:44by what I saw
00:32:45with him yesterday
00:32:45and I mean this
00:32:46with the greatest
00:32:47respect because
00:32:48obviously it was
00:32:49a really tough
00:32:49day for Queen's
00:32:50Park.
00:32:51For weeks,
00:32:52I've been seeing
00:32:53Chimiti and
00:32:54Majofsky,
00:32:55Danilo obviously
00:32:56went,
00:32:56I said it's
00:32:57these guys
00:32:57and they really
00:32:57need to start
00:32:58trapping up
00:32:58with goals
00:32:59and I always
00:33:00feel as if
00:33:01Chimiti kind of
00:33:01gets dragged
00:33:02to the ball,
00:33:02dragged to the
00:33:03ball and
00:33:04what I've seen
00:33:04with this boy
00:33:05Nidiri,
00:33:06this is obviously
00:33:07a snapshot
00:33:07because we don't
00:33:08know how he's
00:33:08going to progress
00:33:09against higher
00:33:10opposition.
00:33:11Yeah.
00:33:12There was a
00:33:12time he went
00:33:13towards a link
00:33:14on the left
00:33:15wing for him
00:33:16and just kind of
00:33:16linked and then
00:33:17he just burrowed
00:33:18round and then
00:33:18he just darted
00:33:19for the first post.
00:33:20Do you know what
00:33:21I mean?
00:33:21Yeah.
00:33:21He was trying to get
00:33:22between the sticks
00:33:22because he didn't
00:33:23have enough time
00:33:23by the time he'd
00:33:24set to go round
00:33:25the back,
00:33:26Peter,
00:33:26but the ball
00:33:27gets flashed
00:33:28across the face
00:33:28and he just
00:33:29hits it outside
00:33:29his right foot.
00:33:31I thought I'm
00:33:31actually seeing
00:33:32more kind of
00:33:33instinct for goals
00:33:36with this guy
00:33:37in an hour
00:33:38than I'd seen
00:33:39for the other
00:33:39couple.
00:33:40You know,
00:33:40I just think to
00:33:41myself,
00:33:41this guy wants
00:33:41to try and get
00:33:42in the kill zone.
00:33:43So early instincts
00:33:45are, well,
00:33:45if he can get
00:33:46the service
00:33:46into the guy,
00:33:47it looks as if
00:33:47he's going to
00:33:47put himself in
00:33:48the area to
00:33:49maybe get a
00:33:49goal or two.
00:33:50And I'll
00:33:51come to you
00:33:51a minute,
00:33:51Raffae,
00:33:52I'll just go
00:33:52back to Tam
00:33:52on that.
00:33:53And that is
00:33:53the point that
00:33:54I think lots
00:33:55of people get
00:33:55frustrated.
00:33:56See,
00:33:56when I see
00:33:57strikers starting
00:33:57to run in
00:33:58channels,
00:33:59I'm thinking,
00:34:00I wouldn't
00:34:00give me peace.
00:34:01The box is
00:34:02where you've
00:34:02earned your
00:34:02money.
00:34:03Go in there
00:34:04and get in
00:34:04there.
00:34:04And that's
00:34:05the point that
00:34:05I think Alex
00:34:06has highlighted
00:34:06that sometimes
00:34:07when I see
00:34:08Cermiti out of
00:34:09the box,
00:34:09I'm thinking,
00:34:09you're never
00:34:10going to score
00:34:10goals.
00:34:11I think there's
00:34:11certain strikers
00:34:12who get frustrated
00:34:12if they've
00:34:13not touched
00:34:13the ball for
00:34:13a while.
00:34:14And I think
00:34:14that's what
00:34:15happens.
00:34:15You come to
00:34:15the ball,
00:34:16you think,
00:34:16I've not touched
00:34:17the ball for
00:34:17four or five
00:34:17minutes,
00:34:18I need to go
00:34:18and get a
00:34:18touch,
00:34:19link the game,
00:34:20play a ball
00:34:20wide.
00:34:21But I think
00:34:21that the
00:34:22goal scorers,
00:34:23actual pure
00:34:24strikers,
00:34:25pure goal
00:34:25scorers don't
00:34:26bother about
00:34:26that.
00:34:27I think they
00:34:27just think to
00:34:27themselves,
00:34:28I've not touched
00:34:28the ball for
00:34:29four or five
00:34:29minutes,
00:34:29I don't care,
00:34:30I'm going to
00:34:30keep making
00:34:30the runs in
00:34:31between the
00:34:31posts,
00:34:32across the
00:34:33front of the
00:34:33defender,
00:34:33peeling off the
00:34:34defender and
00:34:35I'll get my
00:34:35goal.
00:34:35I'm not
00:34:36really concerned
00:34:37about linking
00:34:37the play,
00:34:38and Alex is
00:34:39right,
00:34:40I think Nadiri
00:34:40did show that
00:34:41at times,
00:34:41he had an
00:34:42instinct to
00:34:42try and get
00:34:42into the
00:34:43box to
00:34:43score goals
00:34:43and that's
00:34:44how he got
00:34:44his goals
00:34:44in the
00:34:45box,
00:34:45so I think
00:34:46encouraging
00:34:47signs from
00:34:47a Rangers
00:34:47point of
00:34:48view,
00:34:48he looks
00:34:49like a
00:34:49goal scorer.
00:34:50Well it was
00:34:52noticeable,
00:34:52six of the
00:34:53Rangers goals
00:34:54were all
00:34:54balls into
00:34:55the box,
00:34:56corners,
00:34:56I thought
00:34:58the best
00:34:58goal was
00:34:59the last
00:34:59goal,
00:35:00I thought
00:35:01the last
00:35:01goal was
00:35:01quality,
00:35:02that showed
00:35:03you that
00:35:04Rangers have
00:35:05their make-up
00:35:05to do that
00:35:06quick feat
00:35:06and everything
00:35:07and the
00:35:07players are
00:35:07obviously
00:35:08in the
00:35:09high when
00:35:09you're
00:35:09winning
00:35:097-0,
00:35:10everybody's
00:35:11wanting the
00:35:11ball
00:35:11but that
00:35:12goal for
00:35:13me was
00:35:14a warning
00:35:15to everybody
00:35:16else that
00:35:16these are
00:35:16confident
00:35:17players now,
00:35:18they're not
00:35:18going into a
00:35:19shell because
00:35:19the crowd
00:35:20are getting
00:35:20in their
00:35:20back,
00:35:21the crowd
00:35:22are now
00:35:22with them
00:35:22and they're
00:35:23enjoying
00:35:23every minute
00:35:24of it.
00:35:24Somebody was
00:35:25wanting to
00:35:26know what
00:35:26route you
00:35:26took up
00:35:27to Elgin,
00:35:28Alec.
00:35:29It was the
00:35:29longest day,
00:35:30it was the
00:35:31longest day.
00:35:32Now,
00:35:333-2,
00:35:34they made
00:35:36a battle
00:35:37of it
00:35:37but in
00:35:38the end,
00:35:40what's your
00:35:40thoughts on
00:35:41Tony Watt?
00:35:42He made a
00:35:42lung-busting
00:35:43run.
00:35:43What have
00:35:44we got,
00:35:4425 minutes?
00:35:45He's made
00:35:46an impression
00:35:47with you
00:35:47boys.
00:35:48Yeah,
00:35:48listen,
00:35:48I think
00:35:48he's an
00:35:50interesting
00:35:50character,
00:35:51he's a
00:35:52great boy
00:35:52to have
00:35:52about the
00:35:53place.
00:35:54I think
00:35:54he can
00:35:54be
00:35:54temperamental,
00:35:55he's
00:35:56certainly
00:35:57that,
00:35:58but I
00:35:59think
00:35:59everybody's
00:35:59embraced.
00:36:01As I
00:36:02said,
00:36:02the group
00:36:03in itself
00:36:03is really
00:36:04good.
00:36:05During the
00:36:06summer,
00:36:06we'd already
00:36:07done a
00:36:08hard shift
00:36:08and so
00:36:08forth,
00:36:09and they're
00:36:09playing the
00:36:10traitors,
00:36:11and me and
00:36:11Matt are
00:36:12sitting in the
00:36:13coaches'
00:36:13thing,
00:36:13what's that
00:36:14noise,
00:36:14man?
00:36:14Are you
00:36:15screaming?
00:36:16We have
00:36:17kids'
00:36:17groups and
00:36:18all that,
00:36:19and they're
00:36:20all playing
00:36:20traitors and
00:36:20they're all
00:36:21trying to do
00:36:21each other
00:36:21in,
00:36:22and Tony
00:36:22was
00:36:22instigated
00:36:23and all
00:36:23that.
00:36:24But he's
00:36:24really,
00:36:26him and
00:36:26Alex have
00:36:27been a
00:36:27real handful
00:36:28in the
00:36:28last three,
00:36:29four weeks,
00:36:30and the
00:36:32great thing
00:36:32about it is
00:36:33I think he's
00:36:33enjoying his
00:36:33football,
00:36:34and I think
00:36:34that's important
00:36:35when you get
00:36:35to a certain
00:36:35age as
00:36:36well.
00:36:37I think
00:36:37he's
00:36:38actually got
00:36:38more teams
00:36:39than
00:36:39time,
00:36:39which is
00:36:40a hard
00:36:40thing to
00:36:40do.
00:36:41We used
00:36:41to sit
00:36:41here as
00:36:42well,
00:36:42it was
00:36:42very
00:36:42apparent
00:36:43when we
00:36:44used
00:36:44to sit
00:36:44here and
00:36:44go,
00:36:45why is
00:36:45he
00:36:45moving?
00:36:46Why is
00:36:46he
00:36:46moving
00:36:46from
00:36:47the
00:36:47United?
00:36:47When
00:36:47he
00:36:48moving
00:36:48from
00:36:48Motherwell,
00:36:49he's
00:36:50not found
00:36:51a place
00:36:51that he
00:36:52likes.
00:36:53I think
00:36:53there's
00:36:54times when
00:36:55Tam's
00:36:55moved
00:36:56about
00:36:56more
00:36:56than
00:36:56anybody,
00:36:57it's
00:36:58because
00:36:58he's
00:36:58no
00:36:58goat
00:36:58mates.
00:36:59Generally
00:37:00when you're
00:37:00goat
00:37:00mates,
00:37:01you usually
00:37:03stay and
00:37:04enjoy it,
00:37:04you love
00:37:04going into
00:37:05training,
00:37:05and that
00:37:06looks as if
00:37:06what's
00:37:06happened
00:37:06at
00:37:07Partick
00:37:07Thistle,
00:37:07because I
00:37:08don't hear
00:37:08anybody
00:37:09saying he
00:37:09wants to
00:37:10go somewhere
00:37:10else,
00:37:10he's
00:37:11enjoying
00:37:11every
00:37:11minute.
00:37:12I
00:37:12don't
00:37:12know if
00:37:12you
00:37:12notice
00:37:12by
00:37:13but usually
00:37:13when we
00:37:14are rushing
00:37:14into the
00:37:15studio as
00:37:15well,
00:37:16sometimes
00:37:16you can
00:37:17slip,
00:37:18but Alec
00:37:18didn't
00:37:18slip because
00:37:19his socks
00:37:20are really
00:37:20really grippy
00:37:21now,
00:37:21you know,
00:37:22he's
00:37:22selling them
00:37:23to you
00:37:23as well.
00:37:24He's
00:37:24on Twitter
00:37:25and social
00:37:25media and
00:37:26all that,
00:37:26thanks for
00:37:26your support,
00:37:27get your
00:37:27socks
00:37:28out.
00:37:29Exactly.
00:37:31He's
00:37:32not even
00:37:32gave us a
00:37:32pair yet.
00:37:33They're
00:37:36definitely
00:37:37cast,
00:37:37they're
00:37:37just
00:37:37stitches
00:37:38coming
00:37:38away
00:37:39at the
00:37:39side.
00:37:40But
00:37:40nevertheless,
00:37:40I've
00:37:43seen
00:37:43red,
00:37:43white and
00:37:44blue
00:37:44socks.
00:37:44Oh,
00:37:45but I
00:37:45wouldn't.
00:37:46Yeah,
00:37:46red,
00:37:46white and
00:37:46blue
00:37:47early.
00:37:47Yeah,
00:37:47exactly.
00:37:49So,
00:37:51he had a
00:37:51long-busting
00:37:52run.
00:37:52Yes.
00:37:53He got a
00:37:53second chance
00:37:54in the
00:37:55box and
00:37:55he just
00:37:55lays it
00:37:56over
00:37:56nicely.
00:37:57You know,
00:37:57there's that
00:37:57patience and
00:37:58intelligent
00:37:59thinking.
00:38:00Yeah,
00:38:00it was a
00:38:01lovely ball
00:38:01to Crawford
00:38:01and he
00:38:02did really
00:38:03well initially
00:38:03because he
00:38:04picked the
00:38:05ball up in
00:38:05the halfway
00:38:05lane and
00:38:06crossed it,
00:38:08got a
00:38:08second bite
00:38:08of the
00:38:08cherry.
00:38:09But I
00:38:09think that's
00:38:10a good
00:38:10thing about
00:38:11Tony because
00:38:11he brings
00:38:11quality and
00:38:13he has
00:38:13composure.
00:38:14You can
00:38:15slow it
00:38:16down and
00:38:16it was a
00:38:17lovely little
00:38:17ball and
00:38:17got his
00:38:17up and
00:38:18running
00:38:18really well.
00:38:19Were you a
00:38:21wee bit
00:38:21lucky at the
00:38:21end to get
00:38:22the deflection?
00:38:23They battled
00:38:24well,
00:38:24didn't they?
00:38:25They were
00:38:25excellent.
00:38:26They really
00:38:27made it a
00:38:27difficult afternoon
00:38:28for us and
00:38:29when it goes
00:38:302-2 you're
00:38:31thinking,
00:38:31here we go
00:38:32man.
00:38:32Because you
00:38:32think to
00:38:33yourself,
00:38:33I thought
00:38:33we'd done
00:38:34enough.
00:38:34We created a
00:38:35couple of
00:38:35chances.
00:38:36They were
00:38:36popping out to
00:38:36midfielders and
00:38:37they were
00:38:37slashing and
00:38:39dragging the
00:38:39ball wide,
00:38:40not even
00:38:40making the
00:38:40keeper work.
00:38:42You just
00:38:42never know
00:38:42because you
00:38:43scored for a
00:38:44set play for
00:38:44the first one.
00:38:45You're thinking
00:38:46we're going to
00:38:46have to go for
00:38:47us.
00:38:47But the
00:38:47construction of
00:38:49the goal was
00:38:49really well
00:38:50worked.
00:38:52About four or
00:38:53five passes,
00:38:54one and two
00:38:54touches and
00:38:55obviously it
00:38:55comes back to
00:38:56standards.
00:38:56The great
00:38:56thing about
00:38:57standards is
00:38:57he has the
00:38:58ability to put
00:38:59his laces through
00:39:00it which gives
00:39:00you a fighting
00:39:01chance.
00:39:01If you had it
00:39:02on target you
00:39:03always get a
00:39:04chance of
00:39:05scoring.
00:39:06Thankfully he
00:39:06did that because
00:39:07he just didn't
00:39:08want that
00:39:08drag and then
00:39:09going into
00:39:09injury time
00:39:09you think
00:39:10here we
00:39:10go.
00:39:10Because if
00:39:11it goes to
00:39:11penalties it's
00:39:11a pure
00:39:12lottery.
00:39:13One of the
00:39:14things that
00:39:14surprised me
00:39:16when I was
00:39:16reading the
00:39:16stats,
00:39:1717 years
00:39:18since
00:39:18Dunfermline
00:39:19last reached
00:39:20the quarter
00:39:20finals of
00:39:23the Scottish
00:39:23Cup.
00:39:23It was a
00:39:24surprising
00:39:24start but
00:39:25fair play to
00:39:26Chris Kane,
00:39:27he got a
00:39:27double for
00:39:27them.
00:39:28Neil Lennon
00:39:29I noticed
00:39:29they get a
00:39:30bit tetchy
00:39:30with some
00:39:31people who
00:39:31were interviewing
00:39:31him at the
00:39:32end just
00:39:32because they
00:39:33were suggesting
00:39:34they didn't
00:39:34play well.
00:39:35So he had a
00:39:36wee pop at
00:39:36a couple of
00:39:37them but it
00:39:38doesn't matter
00:39:39in the
00:39:39Cup,
00:39:40just get
00:39:40through.
00:39:41Yeah,
00:39:41I think the
00:39:42boy Kane
00:39:42was disappointed
00:39:43with the
00:39:43one that
00:39:44obviously was
00:39:44no VAR.
00:39:45Was it
00:39:46over the
00:39:46line or
00:39:46was it?
00:39:47Do you
00:39:47think it
00:39:47was?
00:39:47The
00:39:48Russian
00:39:48linesman,
00:39:48I was
00:39:49looking at
00:39:49him and
00:39:49I thought
00:39:50it was
00:39:50miles over.
00:39:50Did you?
00:39:51From behind
00:39:52the goals?
00:39:52From the
00:39:53camera behind
00:39:53the goals?
00:39:54I actually
00:39:54slowed it
00:39:55down.
00:39:56Sports
00:39:56scene I
00:39:56just slowed
00:39:56down just
00:39:57to see
00:39:57if it dropped
00:39:58and you
00:39:59can actually
00:39:59see.
00:39:59Have you got
00:39:59that facility
00:40:00on your
00:40:00telly?
00:40:01I've got a
00:40:01skybox.
00:40:03Have you
00:40:03not gone
00:40:03like that?
00:40:03No.
00:40:04And it
00:40:04came right
00:40:04down,
00:40:05paused it and
00:40:05you could
00:40:06see a wee,
00:40:06I've been
00:40:07right up to
00:40:07the screen
00:40:08like that and
00:40:08I could
00:40:08see a wee
00:40:09gap between
00:40:09the line
00:40:09and the
00:40:10ball.
00:40:10So that
00:40:11was a
00:40:11goal.
00:40:12Yeah.
00:40:13By the way,
00:40:14if you
00:40:14ever,
00:40:15ever stopped
00:40:16your telly,
00:40:16right up to
00:40:17your eyes.
00:40:18Remember now,
00:40:19this is after
00:40:22he's been
00:40:22four hours in
00:40:23the pub
00:40:23when he's
00:40:25come back
00:40:25when he's
00:40:26where is
00:40:27the telly?
00:40:31He'll date
00:40:32anything to
00:40:33get a wee
00:40:33invite back
00:40:34to them
00:40:34family.
00:40:37He is
00:40:38young
00:40:39Ruffy
00:40:39junior
00:40:39because see
00:40:41if they
00:40:41can smell
00:40:41a starter,
00:40:42a main
00:40:43course and
00:40:43a sweet
00:40:44or,
00:40:45and this
00:40:45is something
00:40:45that he'll
00:40:46probably get
00:40:47a real
00:40:47flavour for
00:40:48and I
00:40:48don't know
00:40:48if,
00:40:49Alec,
00:40:49you and I
00:40:50have been
00:40:50pals for a
00:40:50long,
00:40:51long time,
00:40:51right?
00:40:52But you've
00:40:52got pals
00:40:53that I
00:40:53have never
00:40:53decided to
00:40:54steal them.
00:40:56Do you
00:40:56follow me?
00:40:56Absolutely.
00:40:57They're
00:40:57your pals,
00:40:58they're
00:40:58exclusively
00:40:59yours,
00:40:59not
00:41:00Bonzo
00:41:00or
00:41:00Ruffy
00:41:01there.
00:41:01If I've
00:41:01got pals
00:41:02that he
00:41:02thinks can
00:41:03get him
00:41:03a meal
00:41:04somewhere,
00:41:05fix something
00:41:05in his
00:41:06house,
00:41:06you name
00:41:07it,
00:41:07he's in
00:41:07there and
00:41:08now he's
00:41:08got their
00:41:09numbers and
00:41:10it's as if
00:41:10I've had the
00:41:11custard pie and
00:41:12he's in there
00:41:13going for
00:41:13meals and
00:41:14everything with
00:41:14him.
00:41:15He's a
00:41:15moron.
00:41:16I can't deny
00:41:17it.
00:41:17I can't deny
00:41:18it.
00:41:20You're
00:41:20unbelievable.
00:41:21Anyway,
00:41:22Dunfermline,
00:41:22who cares
00:41:23the way you
00:41:23played,
00:41:23Tam?
00:41:24Cup football.
00:41:25Nobody cares
00:41:26how you
00:41:27play,
00:41:27just get
00:41:27through.
00:41:28Absolutely.
00:41:29St Mirren
00:41:30get through,
00:41:31Stephen Robinson
00:41:31breathing a
00:41:32sigh of relief.
00:41:34By the way,
00:41:35should Airdrie have
00:41:36had a penalty?
00:41:38What's the
00:41:38referee doing?
00:41:39It's a storm
00:41:39waller,
00:41:39man.
00:41:40I can't believe
00:41:41he's not gave
00:41:41the penalty.
00:41:43They can feel
00:41:44very, very
00:41:44hard done by.
00:41:46I thought
00:41:46St Mumme
00:41:47probably just
00:41:47edged it and
00:41:48obviously got the
00:41:49winner towards
00:41:49the end,
00:41:50but again,
00:41:51I thought
00:41:51Airdrie played
00:41:51a lot of
00:41:52nice football.
00:41:52They're a good
00:41:53football team.
00:41:54Will somebody
00:41:54steal Henderson?
00:41:56Yeah,
00:41:56he's been excellent
00:41:57this season with
00:41:5717 goals.
00:41:58That's great for
00:41:59a club that's
00:41:59struggling near the
00:42:00bottom of the
00:42:00league.
00:42:01Obviously,
00:42:02started at
00:42:02hearts,
00:42:02I think.
00:42:03Started and
00:42:03bounced about a
00:42:04wee bit,
00:42:04but I've seen
00:42:05him a couple of
00:42:06times on the
00:42:06Friday night
00:42:07football and
00:42:08he's been
00:42:09excellent this
00:42:09season for
00:42:09Airdrie.
00:42:10So there
00:42:10is bigger
00:42:11clubs looking
00:42:12at him,
00:42:12like Alex
00:42:13said.
00:42:13Yeah,
00:42:14he's just
00:42:16trying to
00:42:16get him
00:42:18to get a
00:42:18move to
00:42:18Thistle.
00:42:19Listen to
00:42:20anybody,
00:42:20bag 17's
00:42:21goal is
00:42:21well worth
00:42:22a look,
00:42:22but the
00:42:22other point
00:42:23I was
00:42:23going to
00:42:23take,
00:42:24mention to
00:42:24you,
00:42:25Ruffey,
00:42:25the boy
00:42:25Odullwoo
00:42:26looked really
00:42:27dangerous for
00:42:28St Mirren.
00:42:28He had some
00:42:29good chances,
00:42:30good link-up
00:42:31play and of
00:42:31course got the
00:42:32winner.
00:42:32Yeah,
00:42:33he certainly
00:42:33did.
00:42:34I thought he
00:42:34should have
00:42:35more than that.
00:42:35I thought he
00:42:36was the main
00:42:36man.
00:42:37He was the
00:42:37one that was
00:42:38causing all the
00:42:38problems.
00:42:39A wee bit of
00:42:39trickery run
00:42:40about the
00:42:40box,
00:42:41very difficult
00:42:41for the
00:42:42defenders to
00:42:43anticipate what
00:42:44he's going to
00:42:45do.
00:42:46It was a great
00:42:47goal he scored
00:42:47as well,
00:42:48but I'm sure
00:42:49Alec will do
00:42:49his homework
00:42:50on them before
00:42:51the 7th of
00:42:52March.
00:42:52It's a wee
00:42:53well to go
00:42:54there.
00:42:55I'm sure Alec
00:42:56would have
00:42:56preferred a
00:42:57home tie,
00:42:58which you
00:42:58like.
00:42:59You like
00:42:59your own
00:42:59nucleus of
00:43:00your own
00:43:01fans and
00:43:01majority there.
00:43:03The way
00:43:03St Mirren is
00:43:04just now,
00:43:04the atmosphere
00:43:05in that
00:43:05stadium with
00:43:06the amount
00:43:06of Thistle
00:43:07supporters that
00:43:07will go to
00:43:08that game,
00:43:08plus the
00:43:09St Mirren
00:43:09supporters
00:43:10will be a
00:43:10fantastic
00:43:11night.
00:43:13Just another
00:43:13wee thing that
00:43:14happens,
00:43:15from my
00:43:17point of
00:43:17view,
00:43:18you look at
00:43:19sometimes when
00:43:19they get a
00:43:20lone player
00:43:20from somewhere,
00:43:22Jacob
00:43:22Devaney,
00:43:23Man United,
00:43:24what a
00:43:25wee steal he
00:43:27is,
00:43:27isn't he?
00:43:28I don't
00:43:29know if
00:43:29we've
00:43:29spoken,
00:43:30but the
00:43:30go-through
00:43:30of the
00:43:31week was
00:43:31tremendous.
00:43:32He just
00:43:32looks assured
00:43:33and he's
00:43:34comfortable.
00:43:34You look at
00:43:35a player and
00:43:35you go,
00:43:35he's actually
00:43:36got a bit
00:43:36of that
00:43:36boy.
00:43:37He has a
00:43:38composure about
00:43:38him as
00:43:39well,
00:43:39which I
00:43:39quite like,
00:43:39he just
00:43:40goes about
00:43:40his business.
00:43:41They're the
00:43:42kind that
00:43:42are so
00:43:44important,
00:43:45these type
00:43:45of players,
00:43:46because there's
00:43:46so many
00:43:47players come
00:43:47up from
00:43:48bigger clubs
00:43:49down south
00:43:49or have a
00:43:50pedigree from
00:43:51down south
00:43:51and they just
00:43:52don't hack it.
00:43:53What happened
00:43:55to the guy
00:43:56Amid Diallo?
00:43:57He's a
00:43:58totally
00:43:58transformed
00:43:59player from
00:43:59the one
00:44:00Rangers
00:44:00got,
00:44:00too young.
00:44:01Yeah,
00:44:02sometimes you
00:44:02come up
00:44:03here and
00:44:03that's part
00:44:04of the
00:44:04experience
00:44:05and growth
00:44:05and then
00:44:07obviously
00:44:07Diallo went
00:44:07to Sunderland,
00:44:08another one
00:44:09of my old
00:44:09teams and
00:44:10then he
00:44:10obviously
00:44:11just hits
00:44:11the ground,
00:44:12he fits
00:44:12the system,
00:44:13it works and
00:44:14you become
00:44:14the main
00:44:15man in it so
00:44:15you start
00:44:16growing in
00:44:16statue,
00:44:16whereas up
00:44:17here,
00:44:18people within
00:44:19five minutes
00:44:19are going,
00:44:20oh,
00:44:20he's a dud,
00:44:21how much
00:44:21do you buy
00:44:21for him
00:44:2140 million?
00:44:23So,
00:44:23there's a lot
00:44:24of times
00:44:24that the
00:44:25timing of
00:44:25it is also
00:44:27important because
00:44:27sometimes you
00:44:28get boys that
00:44:28are too young.
00:44:29I thought there
00:44:30was a couple
00:44:30of the young
00:44:31boys came to
00:44:31Rangers at
00:44:32the wrong
00:44:32time,
00:44:33when things
00:44:33weren't going
00:44:34particularly
00:44:34well and the
00:44:35fans were
00:44:35in the
00:44:36team's back
00:44:36and they're
00:44:37young lads
00:44:38and all of
00:44:39a sudden
00:44:40there's 50,000
00:44:41people howling
00:44:42abuse and
00:44:42oh god,
00:44:43never been here
00:44:44before so that
00:44:45could be a
00:44:45factor as well.
00:44:46Ruffey,
00:44:47you and I
00:44:47called all the
00:44:47games I think
00:44:48correctly,
00:44:49Tam,
00:44:49Stenisbury
00:44:500,
00:44:50Falkirk 2,
00:44:51we were even
00:44:52amazed that you
00:44:53well you weren't
00:44:54amazed because
00:44:54you weren't
00:44:54here,
00:44:55you didn't
00:44:55show up,
00:44:56we were amazed
00:44:56that you had
00:44:57gone for
00:44:57Falkirk to
00:44:58lose that game.
00:44:59I just thought
00:45:00Stenisbury would
00:45:01because of
00:45:02you upset,
00:45:02they took
00:45:03them extra
00:45:03time,
00:45:04Stenisbury were
00:45:05excellent on
00:45:06the night,
00:45:06I thought they
00:45:07really denied
00:45:08Falkirk many
00:45:09chances but I
00:45:10just think the
00:45:12quality and
00:45:12fitness and
00:45:12extra time just
00:45:13took over and
00:45:14Falkirk made a
00:45:15couple of changes
00:45:15and they came
00:45:16on and got the
00:45:17goals to get
00:45:18them through but I
00:45:18thought Stenisbury
00:45:19would take a lot
00:45:19of credit out of
00:45:20the game,
00:45:20I thought Gary
00:45:20Naismith's got a
00:45:21cracking team there,
00:45:23all worked hard for
00:45:23each other and just
00:45:24ran out of legs I
00:45:25think towards the end.
00:45:25Yeah,
00:45:26okay,
00:45:26we now know what
00:45:27the draw is and
00:45:29should be really
00:45:30interesting ties,
00:45:32that's the Scottish
00:45:33Cup for you,
00:45:33give us your
00:45:34thoughts,
00:45:34who do you think's
00:45:35going to win it
00:45:35there,
00:45:35you can see it
00:45:36there again,
00:45:37St Mirren against
00:45:38Partick,
00:45:38Fischl,
00:45:39Falkirk against
00:45:40Dundee United or
00:45:40Spartans,
00:45:41Rangers against
00:45:42Celtic and
00:45:44Infermline against
00:45:45Aberdeen and
00:45:46Motherwell and I
00:45:46would give to you
00:45:47this point Ruffy,
00:45:48that every other
00:45:49club is thinking,
00:45:50yeah dancer,
00:45:51we're going to take
00:45:52one of them out,
00:45:53we're going to a
00:45:54final,
00:45:54which one do you
00:45:55think is going to
00:45:56a final?
00:45:56Well,
00:45:58from Bias on my
00:45:59side I hope it's
00:46:00Alec and Partick
00:46:01Thistle,
00:46:02I think the tie
00:46:03that they've got
00:46:04is winnable,
00:46:05it'll be a hard
00:46:06one,
00:46:06but I'm sure as
00:46:07you've just said
00:46:08there,
00:46:09when that draw
00:46:09came out every
00:46:10other team would
00:46:11be saying,
00:46:11right that's one
00:46:12of them out of
00:46:12the road,
00:46:13let's try and stay
00:46:14away from the
00:46:14other ones,
00:46:15but you really
00:46:16want a semi-final,
00:46:17you want your
00:46:18club and your
00:46:19players,
00:46:20if they're young
00:46:20players to experience
00:46:21going to a semi-final
00:46:22and if luck goes
00:46:24away and you get
00:46:25to the final it's a
00:46:26bonus,
00:46:26but a run can
00:46:28enhance what's
00:46:29happening in the
00:46:29rest of the season,
00:46:31you get your
00:46:31semi-final,
00:46:32your players are
00:46:33buzzing,
00:46:33who are we
00:46:33playing in the
00:46:34league,
00:46:34oh we'll have
00:46:34them,
00:46:35who are we
00:46:35getting next
00:46:36week,
00:46:36oh we'll have
00:46:36them,
00:46:37it's a
00:46:37momental thing
00:46:38now and a
00:46:39lot of the
00:46:39teams are
00:46:40thinking to
00:46:40themselves,
00:46:41we're not good
00:46:42enough to win
00:46:43it and that,
00:46:43but let's use
00:46:44it to our
00:46:45advantage for
00:46:45any other
00:46:46success that's
00:46:47left in the
00:46:47season.
00:46:48Yeah,
00:46:48let's have a
00:46:49wee stab at
00:46:49it,
00:46:49Rangers or Celtic
00:46:50versus Motherwell
00:46:51in the final?
00:46:52I did tip
00:46:53Motherwell about
00:46:53two weeks ago
00:46:54at 14-1 to win
00:46:55the Scottish
00:46:55Cup,
00:46:56on the show.
00:46:56Have you got
00:46:57Dosh on it?
00:46:58No,
00:46:59but I did tip
00:46:59the viewers,
00:47:00so hopefully
00:47:00it's going to
00:47:02be five or
00:47:02ten.
00:47:04I'm on it
00:47:05to think.
00:47:07I'm not on
00:47:09it to think.
00:47:10Looking Pinocchio's
00:47:11nose just hit me
00:47:12there.
00:47:1414-1.
00:47:16Won't be 14-1
00:47:17now,
00:47:18if they beat
00:47:19Aberdeen
00:47:20obviously they've
00:47:20got,
00:47:21they're on
00:47:21fair enough
00:47:21to win a little
00:47:22bit.
00:47:22Falkirk will
00:47:23fancy it as
00:47:23well.
00:47:24Won't we
00:47:24done the
00:47:24United?
00:47:25Yeah.
00:47:26Semi-final will
00:47:27be great as
00:47:27well because
00:47:28what happens
00:47:29with the
00:47:29money,
00:47:30Alec?
00:47:30Do you get
00:47:30a split if
00:47:31you got to
00:47:31the semi-final?
00:47:32I genuinely
00:47:33don't know.
00:47:34I think there's
00:47:35a 50-50 split
00:47:36if they're not
00:47:36in the semi-final
00:47:37money.
00:47:38Oh,
00:47:38I think so.
00:47:38They're two
00:47:38ties.
00:47:40They're both
00:47:41semi-final?
00:47:41They're two
00:47:41ties.
00:47:42I think they
00:47:43put together.
00:47:44Yeah,
00:47:44that would be
00:47:45great for you.
00:47:46You could buy
00:47:47Henderson from
00:47:48Airdrie and
00:47:49you could get
00:47:49Tiffany as
00:47:50well and
00:47:51then you
00:47:51could make
00:47:51a right
00:47:51push.
00:47:53A wee
00:47:53tiff.
00:47:54A wee
00:47:54tiff.
00:47:54You like
00:47:55tiff,
00:47:55don't you?
00:47:55Have you seen
00:47:55him in the
00:47:56morning?
00:47:56He's going
00:47:56for breakfast
00:47:56with Tiffany.
00:47:57Yeah,
00:47:57absolutely.
00:47:58Oh,
00:47:58no.
00:47:59Oh,
00:47:59deary me.
00:48:01Unbelievable.
00:48:02I can't
00:48:02believe you've
00:48:04gone for that.
00:48:06Okay.
00:48:08Now,
00:48:08as far as the
00:48:10Scottish Cup is
00:48:11concerned,
00:48:12give us your
00:48:12thoughts.
00:48:13But this
00:48:14week in the
00:48:15league,
00:48:16I'm really
00:48:17looking forward
00:48:17to it.
00:48:18I'm off to
00:48:18Tyne Castle
00:48:19tomorrow,
00:48:20Ruffy.
00:48:21Hearts against
00:48:22Tibbs.
00:48:22It's going to
00:48:22be an absolute
00:48:23belter.
00:48:24And what a
00:48:25week it is
00:48:25because Hearts
00:48:26have Rangers
00:48:27at the weekend
00:48:28as well.
00:48:29Is this the
00:48:30week when
00:48:31it's destiny
00:48:32calling?
00:48:33Yeah,
00:48:33I think you
00:48:34would say
00:48:34that.
00:48:35Looking at
00:48:36the games
00:48:36and the
00:48:37teams that
00:48:38come through
00:48:38it will
00:48:39think,
00:48:39well,
00:48:40we're now
00:48:40really motoring
00:48:41on.
00:48:42It's
00:48:42unfortunate
00:48:43that Tams
00:48:43call them.
00:48:44It's a
00:48:44Friday,
00:48:45Saturday.
00:48:46I've done
00:48:46my column
00:48:47on this
00:48:48game.
00:48:49All the
00:48:50pressure's on
00:48:50Hearts.
00:48:52All the
00:48:52pressure's on
00:48:52Hearts.
00:48:52There's no
00:48:53pressure at
00:48:53all on
00:48:53Hibbs,
00:48:53really.
00:48:54I was
00:48:54speaking to
00:48:55a number
00:48:55of
00:48:55Hibbs
00:48:56yesterday,
00:48:56Ruffy.
00:48:56I was in
00:48:57Edinburgh,
00:48:58I was listening
00:49:00to a really
00:49:00good afternoon
00:49:01speaker,
00:49:02John Yogi
00:49:02Hughes,
00:49:02a lot of
00:49:03his own
00:49:03material,
00:49:04lots of
00:49:05really good
00:49:05fresh stuff
00:49:06on it,
00:49:07which maybe
00:49:07you two
00:49:08should take
00:49:08a long
00:49:08hard look
00:49:09at
00:49:09yourselves.
00:49:10Every
00:49:10Hibby I
00:49:11spoke to
00:49:11said,
00:49:11it doesn't
00:49:13matter,
00:49:13just scupper
00:49:14them winning
00:49:14the title.
00:49:15That's all
00:49:16they care
00:49:17about.
00:49:17That's what
00:49:17punters are
00:49:18about,
00:49:18that's what
00:49:19you want
00:49:19to do,
00:49:19you want
00:49:19to kibosh
00:49:21the team
00:49:21that's
00:49:22your biggest
00:49:23rivals.
00:49:24I don't
00:49:25think Hibbs
00:49:26have done
00:49:26it that
00:49:26much.
00:49:27It's such
00:49:27an important
00:49:28game for
00:49:29Hearts.
00:49:30I don't
00:49:31think a
00:49:31mega game
00:49:32like this.
00:49:33When's
00:49:33the biggest
00:49:33game that
00:49:34scuppered
00:49:35something?
00:49:37The Cup
00:49:38game,
00:49:39because it's
00:49:39ten years
00:49:39since I
00:49:40came out
00:49:40of that
00:49:40tweet,
00:49:41but
00:49:41nevertheless,
00:49:42what about
00:49:43you steaming
00:49:44in on me
00:49:45as well,
00:49:45eh?
00:49:46Giving me
00:49:46a right
00:49:46kick in
00:49:47it.
00:49:47It's cheap.
00:49:48Honestly,
00:49:49it really
00:49:49is.
00:49:50And by
00:49:50the way,
00:49:51Alec,
00:49:51I never
00:49:51took it.
00:49:52It was a
00:49:52pathetic
00:49:52tweet.
00:49:53I've never
00:49:53taken the
00:49:56tweet down.
00:49:56You know
00:49:57how some
00:49:57people take
00:49:58the tweet
00:49:58down so
00:49:59they can
00:49:59disappear?
00:50:00I've just
00:50:00left it up
00:50:01there to
00:50:02be kicked.
00:50:02So every
00:50:03year the
00:50:03Hibbies
00:50:03absolutely
00:50:04batter me.
00:50:05But can
00:50:05I just
00:50:06say something
00:50:06Alain,
00:50:07hearts are
00:50:072-0 up.
00:50:08It's that
00:50:09Tyne Castle.
00:50:10How many
00:50:10minutes are
00:50:10left?
00:50:11It's about
00:50:1110 minutes.
00:50:12I'm thinking
00:50:13they've gone.
00:50:14They're out.
00:50:14And even
00:50:15worse was
00:50:15Hibs
00:50:16actually,
00:50:16they didn't
00:50:17just not
00:50:17lose the
00:50:18game,
00:50:18they won
00:50:18the cup.
00:50:19Exactly.
00:50:20Did you know
00:50:21playing a
00:50:22game that
00:50:23went,
00:50:23somebody was
00:50:24up and
00:50:24ended up
00:50:25four each
00:50:25or something?
00:50:25I played
00:50:26in the
00:50:26four each
00:50:26game,
00:50:26we were
00:50:264-2 up.
00:50:28Too
00:50:28missed.
00:50:314-2
00:50:31up?
00:50:32You know
00:50:32what it
00:50:32was?
00:50:34So many
00:50:34games over
00:50:35the Christmas
00:50:35period and
00:50:36it was
00:50:36January 2nd
00:50:37at
00:50:38Tyne Castle
00:50:38and Bobby
00:50:39Olmson
00:50:39says,
00:50:40listen
00:50:41boys,
00:50:41you's
00:50:41won the
00:50:41day,
00:50:42you's
00:50:42a
00:50:42half
00:50:42to
00:50:43Thursday.
00:50:44It was
00:50:44like three
00:50:44days
00:50:44half.
00:50:45I'm
00:50:46outscored,
00:50:47come
00:50:47half at
00:50:484-2
00:50:48up thinking
00:50:49win
00:50:50bonus,
00:50:50I've
00:50:50scored
00:50:50a
00:50:51derby,
00:50:51I've
00:50:51got three
00:50:51days
00:50:52half,
00:50:52I'm
00:50:52going
00:50:55who
00:50:56comes
00:50:56on,
00:50:56Graham
00:50:57Weir.
00:50:59Nobody
00:50:59knows and
00:51:01comes
00:51:01on and
00:51:02scores
00:51:022-4
00:51:02each.
00:51:03And we're
00:51:04in the
00:51:04next day.
00:51:05Well,
00:51:05I absolutely
00:51:06get Cain,
00:51:06but then I
00:51:07saw you
00:51:07battering me
00:51:08as well
00:51:08on it.
00:51:09Let's
00:51:09get the
00:51:09predictions
00:51:10on it.
00:51:11The other
00:51:11thing we
00:51:12were talking
00:51:12about using
00:51:13players,
00:51:14Derek
00:51:14McInnes has
00:51:15said in
00:51:15the last
00:51:1624 hours
00:51:16that he's
00:51:18having to
00:51:18use them
00:51:19sparingly,
00:51:19the new
00:51:20signs,
00:51:20they need
00:51:20to get
00:51:21up to
00:51:21speed.
00:51:21He's
00:51:22had
00:51:22Chesnikov
00:51:22doing extra
00:51:23running,
00:51:23he's trying
00:51:24to get
00:51:24them to
00:51:25the point
00:51:25that we've
00:51:26all been
00:51:26talking about
00:51:26with the
00:51:27likes of
00:51:27Oxlade
00:51:27Chamberlain.
00:51:28I just
00:51:30think for
00:51:30the last
00:51:30month or
00:51:31so they
00:51:31haven't been
00:51:32where they
00:51:33were earlier
00:51:33than that.
00:51:34I thought
00:51:35they were
00:51:35fantastic.
00:51:36Now they're
00:51:37getting players
00:51:38sent off,
00:51:38obviously it
00:51:39doesn't
00:51:39help the
00:51:40cause,
00:51:41but certainly
00:51:42I just
00:51:42think they're
00:51:43stumbling a
00:51:44wee bit just
00:51:44now,
00:51:45and then
00:51:46you don't
00:51:47know what's
00:51:48going to
00:51:48happen.
00:51:48I think
00:51:49this game
00:51:50could go
00:51:50either way
00:51:50with big
00:51:51moments in
00:51:52the game
00:51:52and let's
00:51:53hope there
00:51:53no VAR
00:51:54moments.
00:51:55I'll tell you
00:51:55one thing
00:51:56that's really
00:51:56making it
00:51:57difficult to
00:51:57call,
00:51:59is the
00:51:59fact that
00:52:00Hibbs,
00:52:01of their
00:52:01new signings,
00:52:02when he's
00:52:02thrown them
00:52:03on in the
00:52:03last couple
00:52:04of games,
00:52:04they're at
00:52:05the road,
00:52:05the boy
00:52:05Kai Andrews
00:52:06looks the
00:52:06part,
00:52:07you're looking
00:52:08and saying
00:52:08to yourself,
00:52:09they've
00:52:10spent wisely.
00:52:10I think
00:52:11Hibbs are
00:52:12converting
00:52:12now,
00:52:13with Bowie
00:52:14money,
00:52:14they brought
00:52:14Dane
00:52:15Scarlett
00:52:15in from
00:52:15Tottenham,
00:52:16who was
00:52:16excellent
00:52:16last night
00:52:16against
00:52:17Dundee
00:52:17United,
00:52:17very,
00:52:18very good
00:52:18for an
00:52:18hour,
00:52:1970 minutes,
00:52:20a Croatian
00:52:21striker comes
00:52:21on and scores
00:52:21a great goal,
00:52:22he's scored the
00:52:23winning goal,
00:52:24Suto,
00:52:24and Gananga at
00:52:26the back,
00:52:27played in the
00:52:28Champions League
00:52:28with Copenhagen,
00:52:29so I think
00:52:30the Hibbs have
00:52:31got a stronger
00:52:31squad now,
00:52:32more depth
00:52:32than their
00:52:32team,
00:52:32just that
00:52:34freshness,
00:52:35the lad
00:52:35Eldin coming in
00:52:36from Ireland as
00:52:37well,
00:52:37I just think
00:52:40has it changed
00:52:41or altered
00:52:42your outlook
00:52:42to it,
00:52:43I never read
00:52:43your column.
00:52:44Yeah,
00:52:44no,
00:52:45I think
00:52:46Hibbs can,
00:52:46the only thing
00:52:47they can do
00:52:47is try and
00:52:48catch Mother
00:52:481-4th,
00:52:49which I don't
00:52:49think they
00:52:49will,
00:52:51so you're
00:52:51talking 5th or
00:52:526th,
00:52:52the only thing
00:52:53they can do
00:52:54as you spoke
00:52:54about is try
00:52:55and scupper
00:52:55hearts,
00:52:56and it's a
00:52:56perfect opportunity
00:52:57to go and do
00:52:57it tomorrow
00:52:58night.
00:52:58Are they going
00:52:58to do it?
00:52:59Yeah,
00:52:59I think they'll
00:52:59win,
00:53:00I think Hibbs
00:53:00will beat
00:53:00hearts 2-1.
00:53:01At
00:53:02Tynecastle?
00:53:02Yes.
00:53:03Yeah,
00:53:03okay,
00:53:10I'm sitting
00:53:11on the fence
00:53:111-H.
00:53:12You ever,
00:53:14ever,
00:53:14I do,
00:53:15no,
00:53:15you never said
00:53:15this,
00:53:16I think that'll
00:53:18be the score,
00:53:19that's my
00:53:19prediction.
00:53:21Never tips Hibbs,
00:53:22yeah,
00:53:22never tip Hibbs.
00:53:24Okay,
00:53:24I'm going to go
00:53:25hearts to win
00:53:253-2,
00:53:26five goals.
00:53:28Surprised at
00:53:28that.
00:53:29Yeah,
00:53:29well,
00:53:30there's nothing
00:53:33to do with
00:53:34being a Hibbs,
00:53:35I'm giving you
00:53:36the call,
00:53:36if Ruffy's
00:53:37got his
00:53:37prediction,
00:53:37I've got mine.
00:53:38The Wednesday
00:53:39guys,
00:53:40we've got Celtic
00:53:40Livingston,
00:53:41Dundee United
00:53:41against Aberdeen,
00:53:43Falkirk Dundee,
00:53:44Kilmarnock against
00:53:45St Mirren and
00:53:46Motherwell Rangers.
00:53:47Now,
00:53:49Alec,
00:53:50the one at
00:53:51Fir Park,
00:53:52I think this
00:53:53is,
00:53:54you know,
00:53:54when you go on
00:53:55that run and
00:53:56everybody's talking
00:53:56about momentum,
00:53:57I think this is
00:53:58their biggest test.
00:53:59Yeah,
00:53:59no,
00:53:59and I agree,
00:54:01I'm fascinated,
00:54:01I was having some
00:54:02lunch with some
00:54:03other players and
00:54:04I'm thinking,
00:54:04how do you
00:54:04approach this?
00:54:06How do you
00:54:06approach it?
00:54:07You know,
00:54:08do you just go
00:54:09man for man and
00:54:10lock on?
00:54:10And think like,
00:54:11okay,
00:54:11we're going to
00:54:11really overwhelm
00:54:12you,
00:54:12but I think
00:54:14those teams have
00:54:15really tried to
00:54:15press Motherwell
00:54:16at times and
00:54:16have just found
00:54:17ways to pop it
00:54:18through.
00:54:19So I'll be
00:54:19fascinated to see
00:54:20how this really
00:54:21plays out.
00:54:22How do Motherwell
00:54:22cope with
00:54:23Rangers'
00:54:23set play power
00:54:24as another side
00:54:26of it?
00:54:27And I think it's
00:54:28geared up to be
00:54:28an excellent game,
00:54:29Peter.
00:54:30I'm really
00:54:30looking forward to
00:54:31it actually.
00:54:34And Wednesday
00:54:34night and I'm
00:54:35going to just
00:54:35kind of take it
00:54:36all in because
00:54:37I haven't really
00:54:38watched Motherwell
00:54:39so many games
00:54:41over.
00:54:41When I have
00:54:42watched them I
00:54:42thought,
00:54:43that's really
00:54:43impressive,
00:54:44their carving
00:54:44team's open.
00:54:46And then I look
00:54:46at Rangers at
00:54:47the weekend,
00:54:47I see a team
00:54:48that are physically
00:54:49really powerful
00:54:51and strong now.
00:54:52And whether
00:54:53they just go
00:54:54man for man,
00:54:55I think that'd
00:54:55be really brave
00:54:56and aggressive.
00:54:58But if you
00:54:58want to chase
00:54:59down a title,
00:54:59he spoke about
00:55:00it,
00:55:00he says we've
00:55:01got to deal
00:55:01with this and
00:55:02it'll be another
00:55:02challenge for
00:55:03them.
00:55:03And it could
00:55:04potentially set
00:55:04us up nicely
00:55:05for Sunday.
00:55:06So he's
00:55:06obviously an
00:55:09intent there
00:55:10with the
00:55:10manager.
00:55:11And when you
00:55:12look at the
00:55:12recent format,
00:55:13the wins that
00:55:14they've got,
00:55:16they should be
00:55:16getting very
00:55:16confidence,
00:55:17Peter.
00:55:17There shouldn't
00:55:17be nothing to
00:55:18fear here.
00:55:19I think if we're
00:55:21talking about the
00:55:21test for hearts,
00:55:24I think this is
00:55:25the defining
00:55:25week, I think,
00:55:27for Rangers in
00:55:29the title because
00:55:30he'll be looking
00:55:30at this.
00:55:31This one here,
00:55:32that's the
00:55:33contrasting styles
00:55:34that Alex is
00:55:34talking about.
00:55:35I just don't,
00:55:36this is so
00:55:37difficult to call.
00:55:37Yeah, it is.
00:55:38And I think that
00:55:38Alex mentioned
00:55:40Rangers at set
00:55:40pieces.
00:55:41I think there's
00:55:41been a massive
00:55:41improvement since
00:55:43the boy Fry's
00:55:44come in.
00:55:44I think he's
00:55:45revitalised our
00:55:47set pieces.
00:55:47They look very,
00:55:48very dangerous.
00:55:49Fernandez is a
00:55:49massive threat,
00:55:50big boy.
00:55:50They're a big
00:55:52team now.
00:55:53They're a big
00:55:53team, Rangers.
00:55:54And I think that
00:55:54could be the
00:55:55difference.
00:55:55Motherwell will
00:55:56need to go and
00:55:56defend set pieces
00:55:57properly, corners,
00:55:58free kicks into
00:55:59the box.
00:56:00And let's not
00:56:00forget that
00:56:01Motherwell, if
00:56:01they get a win,
00:56:02they'll be
00:56:02thinking, we
00:56:03can catch
00:56:04Rangers.
00:56:05They're not
00:56:05that far off
00:56:05the Celtic
00:56:06Rangers,
00:56:06Motherwell.
00:56:06So it's set up
00:56:08for a brilliant
00:56:09game.
00:56:09Motherwell will
00:56:09obviously play
00:56:10open and they'll
00:56:11go and attack.
00:56:12And Rangers are
00:56:13coming off the
00:56:13back of scoring
00:56:1413 goals in two
00:56:14games.
00:56:15So I think it'll
00:56:15be a cracking
00:56:16game.
00:56:16Yeah, on that
00:56:17point, and I've
00:56:18got to get your
00:56:19thoughts on this,
00:56:20Tam, but on that
00:56:21point, I'm looking
00:56:22at Motherwell, I'm
00:56:22saying you've got
00:56:23Rangers, then you've
00:56:23got Aberdeen at
00:56:25home, and then
00:56:27you're away to
00:56:27St.
00:56:28Merlin, you've got
00:56:28home to Dundee
00:56:29United, and then
00:56:30it's away to
00:56:31Celtic.
00:56:31So I agree with
00:56:33you, I don't
00:56:34think Hibbs will
00:56:35catch Motherwell,
00:56:35but I don't
00:56:36think see Motherwell
00:56:37catching, you
00:56:38know, the Rangers
00:56:39or Celtic.
00:56:40Not if they don't
00:56:41win tomorrow
00:56:41night, because
00:56:42you'd expect
00:56:42Celtic to beat
00:56:43Livingston at
00:56:45home.
00:56:45And with that
00:56:45in mind,
00:56:46Ruffy, give us
00:56:46your prediction
00:56:47on this one,
00:56:47because it's a
00:56:48tough one.
00:56:48I'd see if you
00:56:49say draw by
00:56:50the other.
00:56:50No, I'm not
00:56:50going to say
00:56:50draw this.
00:56:51I think, as
00:56:52you say, Motherwell
00:56:52have done
00:56:52particularly well.
00:56:53I don't think
00:56:54Motherwell, against
00:56:56the better size,
00:56:57the bigger size,
00:56:58they've got two
00:56:58goals in them.
00:56:59I think they've
00:57:00got a goal in
00:57:00them, but I
00:57:01feel Rangers have
00:57:02got more than
00:57:02one goal in
00:57:03them.
00:57:03I think they've
00:57:04got more
00:57:04characters that
00:57:05will come up
00:57:06for a goal.
00:57:07I think with
00:57:07Motherwell, they're
00:57:09relying on too
00:57:11many people, he
00:57:12scored a goal.
00:57:12So I think
00:57:13Rangers are
00:57:13going to win
00:57:142-1.
00:57:15I fancy Rangers
00:57:162-1.
00:57:16I think the
00:57:17strength and
00:57:18depth is more
00:57:18than Motherwell
00:57:19have if you have
00:57:20to mix it up
00:57:20a little bit.
00:57:21You look at
00:57:22the bench
00:57:22yesterday, it
00:57:23was so strong
00:57:23for Rangers as
00:57:24well.
00:57:25Jack Butland
00:57:26and guys like
00:57:27that.
00:57:27And then you've
00:57:28also got
00:57:28Matondo's
00:57:29coming back,
00:57:30you've got
00:57:30some guys
00:57:33that will
00:57:34potentially come
00:57:34into the mix.
00:57:35And don't
00:57:36forget Fernandes
00:57:36is coming back
00:57:37who wasn't
00:57:37even available
00:57:38yesterday.
00:57:39There was
00:57:40another one,
00:57:41Suter.
00:57:42So you've got
00:57:43real options.
00:57:44So I do
00:57:45fancy Rangers
00:57:45to win it.
00:57:46Does
00:57:46Manzwanisi make
00:57:47a difference
00:57:47that they've
00:57:48got?
00:57:49Yeah, I
00:57:49think when
00:57:50you've got a
00:57:50striker who's
00:57:50the top goal
00:57:51score in the
00:57:51league and he's
00:57:53playing with a tonne
00:57:53of confidence,
00:57:54they've knocked
00:57:54back some big
00:57:55bids for him.
00:57:55I think he's a
00:57:56real threat to
00:57:57Rangers.
00:57:57But I think
00:57:58Rangers will win
00:57:59this.
00:57:59I don't think
00:57:59Danny at all
00:58:00will be concerned
00:58:01about Motherwell
00:58:01having 60-70%
00:58:02of the ball.
00:58:03He showed that
00:58:03in different
00:58:03games this season
00:58:04and knows how
00:58:04to win games.
00:58:05Our team's got
00:58:06the majority
00:58:06of the ball.
00:58:07So I think
00:58:07they will.
00:58:08I think Rangers
00:58:08will come in
00:58:09and sit in a
00:58:09wee bit and
00:58:09try and hit
00:58:10on the counter.
00:58:10And I think
00:58:12they'll win 2-1
00:58:12as well,
00:58:13Rangers.
00:58:13So three?
00:58:14Three Rangers
00:58:16wins.
00:58:16We're waiting
00:58:17in the Motherwell.
00:58:22Murphy.
00:58:23I know.
00:58:25The Motherwell
00:58:26guru.
00:58:26Yeah, exactly.
00:58:28Yeah, I've
00:58:28been to the
00:58:29Madrid manager
00:58:29last year.
00:58:30Honestly, he's
00:58:31just, I just
00:58:33can't wait for
00:58:33it.
00:58:34Of the games,
00:58:35obviously the
00:58:36Edinburgh Derby,
00:58:37for 48 hours,
00:58:38if I was looking
00:58:38and thinking
00:58:39how great is it
00:58:40to go and see
00:58:40two broad games.
00:58:41It's impression
00:58:41that every team's
00:58:42got something to
00:58:43play for.
00:58:43There's no Celtic
00:58:4415 points ahead.
00:58:45You've got good
00:58:46games to watch.
00:58:47That's going to
00:58:48be brilliant.
00:58:49But Motherwell
00:58:49Rangers, I can't
00:58:50wait to see how
00:58:51Danny Rule
00:58:51approaches this
00:58:53to see, and
00:58:54then of course
00:58:55you know what
00:58:55way Motherwell
00:58:56are going to
00:58:56play, and how
00:58:57do Rangers
00:58:58handle Masvid
00:58:59and Isi in
00:58:59that back line.
00:59:00So it's all
00:59:01to play for.
00:59:02And will Eli
00:59:03just and these
00:59:04guys get the
00:59:05ability or will
00:59:06Rangers swamp
00:59:06them in the
00:59:07middle of the
00:59:07park?
00:59:08Yeah, I know.
00:59:08I was looking at
00:59:09the board.
00:59:10I was really
00:59:11impressed with him
00:59:12and I actually
00:59:12bumped into him,
00:59:13believe it or
00:59:13no, on Ludogratz
00:59:15about a couple
00:59:15of Thursdays ago.
00:59:17And you know
00:59:17when you look at
00:59:17a guy and you
00:59:17go, oh my
00:59:18God, look at
00:59:18the size of
00:59:19this guy.
00:59:19He was like
00:59:19a quarterback.
00:59:20He was like
00:59:20this.
00:59:21Solid.
00:59:22About 6'3",
00:59:236'3", he was a
00:59:23monster.
00:59:24And I was like,
00:59:24oh my God,
00:59:24look at the size
00:59:25of this guy.
00:59:26But he looks as
00:59:26if he's eating up
00:59:27the ground as well.
00:59:28He looks a
00:59:29powerful big guy.
00:59:30Great.
00:59:31Celtic-Livingson,
00:59:32Ruffy?
00:59:333-0.
00:59:34Alec?
00:59:34Yeah, comfortable
00:59:35one for Celtic.
00:59:364-0.
00:59:37OK, yep,
00:59:383-0.
00:59:38Dundee United,
00:59:39Aberdeen,
00:59:39the new firm
00:59:40derby.
00:59:41Dundee United,
00:59:422-1.
00:59:44I'll go for a
00:59:44draw.
00:59:45Yeah, I'm
00:59:45going to go
00:59:461-0.
00:59:46I'll go for
00:59:47Pusspoond.
00:59:48Yeah.
00:59:49What are you
00:59:50going for?
00:59:50I'm going to go
00:59:50for Pusspoond,
00:59:51I think,
00:59:51at the end.
00:59:51OK, you got
00:59:52that on the
00:59:53rookies as well?
00:59:54I think the
00:59:54Pumos Pana will
00:59:55go one each.
00:59:56OK, Falkirk-Dundee,
00:59:58it's a tough
00:59:59one to call.
01:00:00It is a tough
01:00:01one to call.
01:00:01I'll go for
01:00:02Falkirk just
01:00:02to edge it
01:00:03at home,
01:00:032-1.
01:00:04OK, I'm
01:00:04going to go
01:00:05a draw on
01:00:05that one,
01:00:05roughly 1-1.
01:00:06Falkirk,
01:00:062-0.
01:00:07I'll go for
01:00:07a Falkirk win.
01:00:08Kelly,
01:00:09St Mirren.
01:00:12St Mirren,
01:00:142-1.
01:00:17I'm going to
01:00:17go for a draw.
01:00:18Yeah, I'm
01:00:19going to go
01:00:19Kelly, 2-1.
01:00:20I'm going to
01:00:20go for Kelly,
01:00:21I fancy Kelly,
01:00:22I think St Mirren
01:00:22have one eye on
01:00:23that massive tie
01:00:24against us.
01:00:24The thing is,
01:00:25if they win
01:00:25that, do they
01:00:26potentially drag
01:00:29St Mirren in?
01:00:30Drag everybody,
01:00:31aren't you?
01:00:31Definitely.
01:00:32Certainly in the
01:00:33play-off.
01:00:34I must apologise
01:00:35to everyone who
01:00:36has downloaded
01:00:36the podcast
01:00:37tonight because
01:00:37there's about
01:00:3832 different
01:00:39coughs in it.
01:00:39I would spend
01:00:40five hours
01:00:40editing this
01:00:41just to take
01:00:42the coughs
01:00:42out.
01:00:43Anyway,
01:00:44apart from
01:00:44the off-soldiers,
01:00:45you've soldiered
01:00:47through, you've
01:00:47made it to the
01:00:48end of the
01:00:48programme.
01:00:48Is there not
01:00:49a sketch,
01:00:49Peter?
01:00:49Is there not
01:00:50a sketch thing
01:00:50about everybody
01:00:51coughing?
01:00:51Yeah, absolutely.
01:00:53So apologies to
01:00:54those in the
01:00:54podcast and
01:00:54apologies to
01:00:55you, but
01:00:56you know,
01:00:57winter, it
01:00:58takes its toll.
01:00:59Ruffy's got the
01:01:00medicine, hopefully
01:01:01we'll all be
01:01:01able to use it.
01:01:02Which club did
01:01:03Ranger Sign James
01:01:05Tavernier from?
01:01:05Wigan.
01:01:06Thank you very
01:01:06much.
01:01:07You had no clue,
01:01:10you must have
01:01:10cheated by the
01:01:11way, but well
01:01:11done Alec.
01:01:12Alec was clued up
01:01:13on it.
01:01:13Wigan was the
01:01:13answer we're
01:01:14looking for in
01:01:15our quiz sponsored
01:01:16by Elite
01:01:16joinery and
01:01:17fire protection.
01:01:18Great to have
01:01:19you all on
01:01:19board today.
01:01:20Hopefully you
01:01:21enjoyed it all.
01:01:22Thanks to
01:01:22Alan Ruff,
01:01:23thanks to
01:01:23Alec Ray
