00:00Unemployment is falling, and young people are gaining practical skills through vocational training and entrepreneurship programs. Uzbekistan's labor market is changing fast.
00:14Hello and welcome to Business Line Uzbekistan. Recent figures show a continued decline in Uzbekistan's unemployment rate, which fell to 4.9% in the third quarter of 2025.
00:27Employment growth is increasingly concentrated in the services, IT, and manufacturing sectors, while labor migration abroad remains a significant feature of the labor market.
00:40In 2025, more than 4 million people secured income-generating jobs, including 1.29 million in agriculture, 2.74 million in services, more than 172,000 in construction, and more than 256,000 through investment-driven projects.
01:00As of July 1, 2025, the number of private entrepreneurs had reached almost 300,000, while self-employment had expanded to 5.5 million individuals.
01:13Meanwhile, the central bank warns that rapid population growth and a growing youth share may increase labor market pressure, prompting Uzbekistan to rethink workforce development toward skills and flexibility.
01:27Here is more.
01:28Each year, around 700,000 young people enter Uzbekistan's job market.
01:34Statistics outline the challenge. Individual stories show how young people adapt.

02:00If we talk about our relatives from the US countries, they already consider Uzbekistan as a country to be part of their business or their activities.
02:11At the same time, workforce preparation is shifting towards skills and adaptability.
02:16Nearly 500,000 students are enrolled in technical schools, combining classroom learning with hands-on training.
02:33International exposure is also becoming part of training.
02:37International programs are aligning training directly with labor market needs.
02:55Short-term courses, stipends and targeted support are expanding access, particularly for women and underserved groups.
03:19In 2025, under the Youth Employment Programme, Uzbekistan reported that support was provided to 384,000 unemployed and aspiring entrepreneurs, with jobs secured for 354,000 young people.
03:39From classrooms to startups, Uzbekistan is working to equip its young population with skills for a more competitive and inclusive economy.
