00:00People love to tell you what you can't do.
00:02People love to tell you you can't.
00:03I've had an executive tell me, well, why are you still doing theater?
00:06Why are you still acting?
00:08Why are you still doing that?
00:09And it's because I feel like writing makes me a better actor
00:12and acting makes me a better writer.
00:15I really have to get inside of somebody.
00:18One of my favorite things when I'm writing is that
00:20no matter who's speaking, it's right when I'm writing them.
00:23And the same thing when I'm acting.
00:25If you're speaking and I'm talking to a character,
00:27even if Jordan believes it's wrong,
00:28no, I'm 100% right, play with me.
00:31You know what I mean?
00:33And I think that what's beautiful about everybody up here on the stage
00:36is that we kind of do what blackness is meant to do,
00:39which is break outside of the box.
00:41We break outside of the norms of what Hollywood tells us
00:44that we need to do, the stories that we need to tell
00:46and how we need to tell them.
00:48And yeah, it's a process.
00:50It's definitely a process, but you have to believe in yourself
00:53before other people believe in you.
00:58You know what?
01:00Yeah.
01:01You know what?
01:03You know what?
01:05That's my story.
01:13Love you.
