00:00I've been lucky where most of the shows I've worked on, the showrunners and the writers have been quite lenient and willing to allow the actors to kind of do their thing.
00:08And I find, like, you know, for me, I'll give an actor what they call a shit and giggles take, which is like, this is a take where you get to play and kind of do your thing.
00:17And nine times out of ten, that's the take that makes it into the edit.
00:20Like, I work with Terrence Howard on The Best Man, right?
00:23And so the more freedom you give someone like Terrence Howard, right, he's never going to get it wrong, right?
00:28So the more the writers and the showrunners kind of leave him alone, the more they get out of him.
00:35So I think it's like an interesting dance, right?
00:37Like sometimes as a director, you can go to a writer and say, hey, just, I know it's your show, but if you really want to get this out of this actor and I have this intimate relationship with him here on this set, then kind of like back up a little bit.
00:51And they've been willing to do that.
00:53You know, they haven't been too heavy handed.
00:54So I think when you give the actors the freedom to really do their work, you get the best out of them.
