00:00All right, so y'all, this is the fun part. I'm so excited. So get your phones out.
00:05Make sure you're ready to follow and or purchase because we've got a lineup of entrepreneurs.
00:11They're going to be sharing their businesses. They have two minutes, which is not a lot of time.
00:16So that's why I said get your phones ready to come out and share their story, who they are,
00:22and what solutions they have to offer you to make your life either more stylish or easier.
00:27So first, we have Courtney Kelly. Y'all give it up. I'm going to get out of her way.
00:34You got your two minutes. Do your thing.
00:37Yes, ma'am. Hello, everyone. My name is, oops, here we are.
00:41My name is Courtney Kelly, and I'm the author of two children's books, Celeste Saves the City and Celeste Tunnels Underground.
00:50I'm originally from New Orleans, and Katrina hit when I was in high school. Yes, give it up. No luck.
00:54So my family evacuated to Baton Rouge, and I was put into a lot of STEM camps, and that led me to become a civil engineer.
01:03So I wrote Celeste Saves the City, inspired by my life, and in the book, she grows up in New Orleans, Katrina hits,
01:09and that empowers her to become a civil engineer just like me.
01:12So she restores the wetlands that protects the coast of New Orleans, but she doesn't stop there.
01:16She moves to Dallas, Texas in my second book to create underground tunnels to help with traffic congestion.
01:22And so as of right now, since 2022, I've sold over 5,000 copies of my books.
01:27They're available in English, German, French, and Spanish.
01:30Come on.
01:30And you can find them at our marketplace near the author's area, SoCo Market in the author's area.
01:36And also you can follow at Courtney Kelly Books or order online, www.courtneykellybooks.com.
01:43Thank you so much.
01:44Y'all give it up. I don't even think that was two minutes.
01:47Congratulations. So next up, we have J.R. Martin.
01:52Y'all give it up for J.R.
01:54Please tell us about your business and how we can support.
01:59Hey, what's up? My name is J.R. Martin from Underdog Press.
02:03And I started Underdog Press because when I was a young man, I was inspired by literature.
02:09One of my favorite characters was Jordi LaForge on Star Trek.
02:13And so I started this because, you know, I learned from having more representation in science fiction and fantasy
02:19that a black man is supposed to be the smartest man in the room.
02:22So that's how I feel.
02:23And I want to have that same type of encouragement for the black community as well.
02:28So I feel like science fiction and fantasy can do that.
02:31So my first novel came out back in 2023.
02:35It's The Engineer's Apprentice.
02:37It takes place in an alternate history where Iso Obasi is a master engineer.
02:40He creates this brand new technology.
02:43And when it's stolen, he has to learn to be in touch with his spirituality and learn magic
02:48so that he can focus on being able to stop the technology from destroying the city.
02:54The story takes place in Dallas, Texas.
02:56And it takes place in a world where everything west of Dallas is all magic.
03:00And the Native Americans and freed slaves have come together to form their own community.
03:04And everything east is all the United States.
03:07And they're working to protect themselves from the U.S. encroachment.
03:16Thank you, JR.
03:17All right.
03:18So next up, we have Antonia Royal Whitmore.
03:21You can go back that way.
03:23Take the stairs.
03:23Yeah, y'all don't have to jump.
03:24Hello, everybody.
03:29My name is Antonia Royal Whitmore.
03:31I am the owner of Pub Black Library Publishing.
03:34Our vision is to just bring more black people to literacy.
03:38And this is my latest book, Melanin Laughs.
03:41And I would actually like to read a few of our pages to you all.
03:46Melanin Laughs.
03:47All are welcome.
03:48Straight teeth, missing teeth, quicker teeth, no teeth.
03:50It doesn't cost a smile.
03:52Embrace yours because every laugh is versatile.
03:56Melanin Laughs.
03:56So uniquely made like a snowflake.
03:59Loud and long or soft and short.
04:01Its range of pitch echoes through the basketball court.
04:04Melanin Laughs.
04:06Can't be contained on a playground where we spend most of our days.
04:10Melanin Laughs are full of magic.
04:13Rosy cheeks and angelic sounds with laughter.
04:15Friends can be found.
04:16If you want to know more about Melanin Laughs, I am on Instagram at Pub Black Library Publishing.
04:23Or I am a vendor over there somewhere, 3266.
04:28Thank you, guys.
04:29Aw, that's amazing.
04:30Thanks for reading time.
04:32I enjoyed that.
04:33Oh, and I also have book blankets as well.
04:35Aw, that's amazing.
04:38All right, so next up, shout out my hometown, Lafayette.
04:43Come on, Ms. Chantel, Carmiere.
04:45Tell us what you got.
04:47Good.
04:48Let's see.
04:50Let me see.
04:50I'm going to help you hold stuff up.
04:52Yes.
04:52You got it?
04:53Thank you so much.
04:53Yes, I'm alive.
04:57Got it.
04:58Hi, my name is Chantel Carmiere.
05:00I'm from Lafayette, Louisiana.
05:02My company is titled Ignite You, and I have books for young girls.
05:06This was my first story.
05:08It's just hair.
05:09Your beauty is why they stop and stare.
05:12My second book is titled It's Just Shoes.
05:15Some don't have the option to choose.
05:18And my latest book is Ignite You.
05:21Everyone has a spark that can turn into a flame if you ignite it.
05:25So come out and support.
05:26This is a self-devotional book that talks about igniting your life, your health, your wealth,
05:32your future, your community.
05:34If you do decide to make a purchase today, you'll get a free shirt.
05:38So come on and find me right by Coca-Cola at Ignite You booth.
05:44Awesome.
05:44Congratulations.
05:47You got it?
05:48Oh, I get to bring this to my baby boy.
05:54Next up, we have Erica Jones.
06:04Got space.
06:07Anything you need me to hold or say for you?
06:10Done?
06:11Okay.
06:14Hello.
06:16My name is Erica Jones.
06:17I am the co-founder of Puzzles of Color, which is a family business that I started with my
06:21brother.
06:21And we started this business because we have always grown up doing puzzles together.
06:25It's a great way to get your families together, to keep your mind fresh, get away from technology.
06:30But there is never enough diversity.
06:32So we worked with artists of color and licensed their work to turn them into puzzles.
06:36All of these puzzles, we have puzzles ranging from 48 to 1,000 pieces.
06:41And all of our artists receive a percentage of the sales from these puzzles.
06:45We also have playlists of music that the artists listen to while they were creating the piece so
06:50that you can listen to that same music while you're working on your puzzle and really get
06:54into the mindset of that artist.
06:56So these are all available on our website at PuzzlesOfColor.com.
06:59We also have a booth over by Coca-Cola and the book section.
07:03And then we are also available on all social media, Puzzles of Color, Instagram, Facebook, Twitter,
07:08all of those things.
07:09We are actually sold out here, which has been a really great show.
07:13But we will be shipping everything for free if you would like to place an order in our booth today.
07:18Thanks for sharing.
07:20Congratulations and everything.
07:21I love those puzzles.
07:23Got it?
07:25All right.

07:36Enjoy your time.
07:41Need me to hold anything for you?
07:43Just put these out here.
07:46Do you need me to taste test anything?
07:48Okay, no?
07:49Okay, that's fine.
07:50You can try that.
07:51So, hi, I am April McClung.
07:54I am the owner of Emily's Heirloom Pound Cakes.
07:56Our business started as a fundraiser where we raised over $14,000 with our grandmother's 100-year-old recipe
08:03and sent one of my sons to China for 17 days and the baby boy to Europe for 20 days, seven countries.
08:12This is our 11th year in business, July, actually.
08:17And we celebrate here at Essence.
08:19This is my second year.
08:20We're producing over 5,000 packaged slices a month, hundreds of cakes.
08:24We ship these all over the country.
08:27I'm also on Amazon, and I do Sam's Clubs in six states.
08:31So, our booth is across from the Coca-Cola stage.

08:40We sample everywhere we go our original heirloom pound cake, and we also sample the skillet caramel.
08:47So, come over and get a sample.
08:48We have snack sizes, original skillet caramel, pineapple coconut, lemon blueberry,

09:34Thank you for having me on this segment.
09:36Okay, next we have, I believe, Brittany Anderson.
09:41Give it up, y'all.
09:45Hello, everybody.
09:47My name is Brittany Anderson, and I'm the founder and owner of Adorn Headwear.
09:52I started my company because I have a big old head, and I have all of this hair, and
09:56it was impossible for me to find a hat that fits.
09:59I see a lot of nods, so I know that the struggle is real and a shared one.
10:03Adorn Headwear is a line of unisex hats.
10:06They are luxury made.
10:08They are satin lines.
10:09They are adjustable for when we like to switch up our hair.
10:12So that means anything from locks, curls, bundles, braids, anything you want to do with your
10:19hairstyle, or plain old big heads like mine, these will fit for you.
10:23So we are over at Booth 4005.
10:27You can also shop us online at Shop Adorn Headwear, excuse me, at AdornHeadwear.com.

10:37So if you have ever struggled finding a hat to fit over your head, please visit our booth.
10:42I will prove you wrong today.

10:48because these are made with just with you in mind, okay?
10:51Thank you all.

11:04Y'all give it up.
11:05Give it up.
11:10Yeah, let's go.
11:11I love it.
11:13It's so cute.
11:16Hello, everyone.
11:18My name is Christina Phillips, and I'm the founder of Pure.
11:21And Pure is an organic, intimate, power brand.
11:23We create underwear made of natural fabrications free of toxic chemicals.
11:27We use GOT-certified organic cotton in our underwear.
11:30Now, I learned that there are a lot of synthetic underwear we wear.
11:33It contains chemicals that affect our reproductive health, causes cancer, as well as affects our hormones.
11:39So, I wanted to create underwear that was safe for the body and the environment.
11:43Our panties are, again, made of natural fabrications.
11:45It's GOT-certified organic cotton.
11:47It's comfortable.
11:48It's breathable.
11:49And it's fashionable.
11:51We sell our products on our company website at www.shoppure.com.
11:55Pure with two U's.
11:57P-U-U-R-E.
11:58And our Instagram is also shoppure as well.
12:01Thanks, Ben.
12:02Wait, wait.
12:02And your booth, don't you have?
12:03Oh, my booth is 4208 right over here.
12:05Right on the corner.
12:06They're right there.
12:06Can't miss us.
12:09Awesome.
12:09Thank you so much for sharing.
12:11Y'all give it up.
12:12Give it up for Pure.
12:15All right.
12:16So, I need two volunteers that are willing to come up.
12:20Oh, I love the energy.
12:22Come on up.
12:23All right.
12:23So, maybe I'll do three.
12:24Can we get one more volunteer?
12:27We got some free product giveaway from Bees Bayou Skin Care.
12:31So, I want to give it away to...

12:32Let's go.
12:33Come on up this way.
12:35So, I am the founder of Bees Bayou.
12:37It is B-E-A apostrophe S, named after my grandmother, Beatrice.
12:42She, like myself, loved helping people feel healed from the inside out.
12:46I'm a licensed master social worker turned beauty entrepreneur.
12:49And I was diagnosed with seborrheic dermatitis when I was about 13 years old.
12:53So, Bees Bayou Skin Care has some products that I want you ladies to sniff.
12:59And I want you to tell everybody what you think.
13:01So, our products are probiotic and herbal.
13:04They have Louisiana herbs.
13:06So, things like sassafras, saw palmetto, black pepper, rice, burdock, honey.
13:12I could go on.
13:13And I want you to tell them what you think.
13:15So, I want you to smell this one.
13:16You can spray it.
13:17You can put it on your hand.
13:18I want you to smell this one.
13:22Same thing.
13:23But I want to see what you think.
13:24Now, this one is our prebiotic oil.
13:26So, if you have anything related to dermatitis, dandruff, itch, you know you cannot just put any kind of oil on your scalp, depending on the composition of that oil.
13:35So, this is our prebiotic oil.
13:37I want you to take a sniff.
13:38And y'all can switch it up.
13:40And tell me what you think of that.
13:41So, what did you think of this one?
13:42And this is our Hero Product Herb Good Biome Scalp Solution.
13:47It smells eatable.
13:49It smells.
13:50Don't eat it, though.
13:52But, yes, we do have ingredients that you could probably find in a gumbo.
13:55But it doesn't smell like gumbo.
13:57Right?
13:58But you like it?
13:59Yes?
13:59Yes?
14:00Okay.
14:00What did you think about the texture of the prebiotic oil?
14:04Smooth.
14:04It's very smooth, too.
14:05What do you think about the scent?
14:07It smells strong, but I like it.
14:10A little goes a very long way.
14:11I like quality products, so a little goes a long way.
14:14It smells good.
14:14I think over time, it'll be much better, yes.
14:16Okay.
14:17Now, want to switch it up?
14:18What did you think?
14:19Thanksgiving.
14:20Sage.
14:21Ah, so we do have a little bit of oregano in that one and a little bit of clove.
14:26My grandmother loved chewing on clove, so that's what's in that one.
14:30So, yes.
14:31So, right now, we're doing a giveaway on our website.
14:34If you check us out and follow us at B-E-A-S, that's B as in boy, E-A-S, Bayou Skin Care.
