00:00Time to talk about the schedule.
00:04Also known as Drake May.
00:06Easily the best nickname in recent sports history.
00:10I think it should stick.
00:12I think it's funny.
00:13Harmless.
00:14I think he can kind of shed it.
00:15Heck, I think he can turn it into a cool thing.
00:18But for now, the schedule is the schedule.
00:21I want to, um, let me ask you, let me ask you, okay?
00:27Ty, how much did your perception of this Patriots team drop after yesterday?
00:36I said they had a great year.
00:39I think they had a good run based off of just, you know, certain challenges.
00:44I think you and I are both in the camp that if Bo Nix started that game for Denver,
00:49I think Bo Nix pulls it out.
00:51I think Denver's in the Super Bowl.
00:52Agreed.
00:53And I think we have a much better game than what we got in Super Bowl 60.
00:57That being said, I just think that they were over-exceeding expectations,
01:04and they finally got exposed from an offensive perspective.
01:08And what I mean by that is, look, you look at their wide receivers.
01:13Booty, yeah, he went to LSU, but he's not elite.
01:16Stephon Diggs is not the same guy that he was when he was with Minnesota,
01:21obviously, and with Josh.
01:23Yeah.
01:24Pop Douglas, you know, Kyle Williams, Hooper, they're not wowing anybody.
01:30Mm-hmm.
01:31You know, Hunter Henry's good.
01:32He's not Brock Bowers or Trey McBride.
01:35Sure.
01:36All right?
01:36So my point is, they went up against an elite defense and an elite secondary
01:41that unless you have cats that can fly, like Puka and like Devontae and like speedy guys,
01:51you're not going to expose them.
01:54Think about the games that they struggled.
01:56Hang on.
01:57They gave up 38 points to Baker.
02:00Yeah.
02:01Mike Evans, Godwin, McMillan.
02:04I mean, they got guys that can run.
02:07Yep.
02:07You know, I think if you, I think put Caleb, the way he was playing at the end of the year
02:15against Seattle, they put up points.
02:19I'm just saying.
02:20Yeah.
02:20Teams that throw vertical.
02:23Drake May was doing it against, look, teams that were giving up a lot of yards.
02:28But this is the thing, right?
02:29I, okay, so the bright spot for New England is how much we look at and go, oh, the roster
02:36can be better, right?
02:37Could be much better.
02:39Because they don't have all, it's not littered with all pros.
02:41I think it's part of why Drake May, I know last night it was like a Stafford voter victory
02:45lap session.
02:46I get it.
02:46But I actually think like some of the Drake May MVP stuff is even seen within the game.
02:50Kind of.
02:51Like, who is he supposed to go to?
02:53Who am I supposed to throw the ball to?
02:55Hey, I'm going to buy and throw it to him 16 times.
02:57Who?
02:58Right?
02:58That doesn't exist on this team.
03:00But the thing is, going into the game, going into all of these games, we knew who the running
03:05backs were.
03:06We knew who the wide receivers were.
03:07Now, you were on Seattle.
03:08You were right.
03:09So for me, as someone who said, yes, the schedule was a joke.
03:14Yes, the AFC path set up well for them.
03:18I was steadfast that they would have lost to Bo Nix.
03:22And that should have stuck with me more.
03:24I shouldn't have bypassed that so easily.
03:28And I think the reality is, this team be having this season, when we go credit pie.
03:36Yeah.
03:37The schedule is the winner.
03:39Right.
03:39But yes, the schedule is the winner.
03:41You're right.
03:42This team doesn't win.
03:43If they play the hardest schedule in football, they don't win.
03:46I think that's what takes it a lead head coach, right?
03:49And I'm not taking away from Vabel.
03:52Yeah.
03:52But, you know, it's almost like, hey, why win games 40 to 20 when we could lose them 29-13?
03:58But I don't think the problem, Joe, was mentality.
04:01No, but I think Vabel.
04:03I think that they had an offense.
04:05They had an offense that finished the season, okay?
04:07Number one in EPA.
04:09Right.
04:09Who played four very good defenses.
04:11And they looked like one of the worst offenses in football.
04:15Correct.
04:15And that's where.
04:16You can't chalk that up to anything other than, oh, you played bad defenses all year.
04:19Okay.
04:20You're right.
04:21And, yes, the teams that they rolled against statistically were good defenses.
04:27Obviously, Denver, right?
04:28And they only scored 10 points.
04:29And a lot of people put that on the snow and the weather conditions.
04:33But it's up to Vabel, right?
04:35When you're watching this game unfold and knowing, hey, we're not – our offense is not going to be effective.
04:45I knew it a quarter in watching this game.
04:49So, that's up to Vabel to go, hey, Josh, let's go.
04:53Change it up.
04:54You know, things are – you know, we're not going to win this type of game.
04:58The writing's on the wall.
04:59We need a sense of urgency.
05:01Drake Mace, hold it.
05:03Run the football two yards.
05:06Third and eight, sack.
05:07Third and eight, incompletion.
05:09Third and nine.
05:10I mean, third downs were a problem for their offense throughout the playoffs.
05:15First and eight.
