00:00I think the sticking point for me when I look at the Patriots
00:02versus the Seahawks, it is the quarterback position.
00:06I do not mean to simplify this game down to just,
00:10hey, who's the better quarterback, right?
00:12It's that right now I feel the answer that I believe is Drake May
00:19isn't the consensus.
00:22And I certainly think if I said right now,
00:25who do you expect to play better in the game?
00:27There's a big gap that thinks the answer is Sam Darnold.
00:31And to that, I feel still stunned at how much people believe
00:37Darnold is going to be outplaying Drake May in this game.
00:41Darnold's going off of the game of his life.
00:43Why would he have jitters in the Super Bowl?
00:46Do you even hear the words that are leaving your mouth?
00:51So Sam Darnold's playing the best game he's ever played.
00:53We don't think he's a top five quarterback, right?
00:55So then it's hard to keep that level of consistency up.
00:59And a quarterback who we have seen with big game jitters,
01:03let's call it six big games.
01:06In one of them, he didn't have jitters.
01:09And in the other five, it's pick central.
01:13We're like, you know when he's going to be at his calmest Super Bowl?
01:17Well, that, before we get to the Drake May piece,
01:20the belief in Sam Darnold going into this game, again,
01:27this does not mean that I think he's a fraud, that he's a boss,
01:29that he's never going to win a game.
01:30No, no, no.
01:31He's the franchise quarterback.
01:33It's one game.
01:34No, I know.
01:34And I don't agree with everybody thinking.
01:37Again, Sam, he starts at 250 and two, and we climb the ladder from there.
01:40No, look, you have to take, and it's what I've told you all week,
01:46you have to take the good, the bad, and the ugly with Sam Darnold, right?
01:51What does that mean?
01:53He might be turnover prone in this game.
01:55He might throw one or two picks.
01:57I can't say that I don't think that that won't happen, right?
02:01But what I can tell you is I don't think he'll implode,
02:06and that's the difference.
02:08I think that, yeah, he might throw a pick or two,
02:12but I think with those two picks might come two or three touchdowns.
02:15And so that's the difference, I think, Sam Darnold this year,
02:19as opposed to the two big games last year against Detroit
02:22and the L.A. Rams in the playoff where he just looked shell-shocked.
02:26He looked like he couldn't respond from the haymaker,
02:29where he got knocked down, and he couldn't get up,
02:31and he had the standing eight count, and that was it.
02:34This year, if you go to the games, go to the first Rams game
02:38with the game that they lost 21-19, he throws four interceptions.
02:42But I told you, defense kept him in it,
02:44and he still put his team in a position to potentially kick the game-winning field goal.
02:48They didn't win it, but he still battled back.
02:51Second half against the Rams again, battled back.
02:54Goes on the road to San Francisco.
02:56All right, doesn't play a lead, but he didn't turn the football.
02:59And he didn't put his team at a disadvantage.
03:01So I think he's learned from that.
03:04That's all I'm saying is that when you look at the difference between Sam Darnold this year
03:09and last year, last year when those tough spots came, he crumbled.
03:14He was like a glass house.
03:16This year, it seems like, okay, I threw a pick.
03:20I threw two picks.
03:21I'm still going to battle.
03:22And I think that that's where I'm in a different camp.
03:25I don't think he's, you know, Troy Aikman, three-time Super Bowl champion,
03:31or, you know, Pat Mahomes-esque.
03:34But what I'm saying is I'm more confident in Darnold knowing that if he does throw a pick
03:41or a costly turnover, I have more confidence in Darnold than I do potentially Drake May
03:48to rebound from that because I've seen that throughout the year.
03:51So I, it is interesting that, right, the, hey, if Darnold is struggling, I think he'll
04:01pick himself up, right?
04:02Yeah.
04:02I think that that is totally fine, right?
04:06It's that I am, I struggle to, most people don't agree with you about the first half happening.
04:15You're right.
04:16Like you have, and this is why, again, I think you and I are seeing this game a little bit
04:19differently than, like, everybody else, where you're like, if Darnold has 125 and two first
04:26half interceptions, it's all good.
04:28Pedal to the metal, gas keeps coming, he might finish the game with 280 because he's just
04:31going to keep on throwing.
04:33But I still believe that those two interceptions could be coming and therefore will set this
04:40team so far behind the eight ball in this football game.
04:44And allow New England to play a more comfortable game against a defense then that doesn't get
04:51to pin their ears back and say, okay, our opponent's predictable now, right?
04:55I think that makes a big difference.
04:57So, let's see.
05:06Let's see.
