00:00An investigation is underway regarding a viral video of an alleged hazing activities showing some police officers abusing fellow officers.
00:10Investigation reveals over a hundred of victims with all of them being newly appointed patrolmen.
00:16Ryan Luciguez has the full report.
00:20This video is going viral on social media showing the alleged abuse committed by some police officers on their fellow police officers.
00:27The video shows among others, an initiating police officer bitch slapping a fellow police officer, kneeling and wearing a field service uniform.
00:36Due to the force of the slap, the police officers screamed and appeared to have lost consciousness.
00:41Others also sustained large bruises on the back of their thighs.
00:44As a result of the beating, another officer was seen receiving first aid at a medical facility.
00:50Those seen in the video are newly appointed patrolmen in Lamitan City, Basilan.
00:54An investigation revealed the abuse was allegedly part of the initiation rights or welcoming rights for the new police officers.
01:01According to PNP Public Information Office Chief Police Brigadier General Randolph Tuano,
01:06the incident happened on February 6 involving a total of 129 victims, all of whom are patrolmen.
01:14The investigation into the issue is ongoing.
01:16In fact, a total of 70 personnel from Regional Mobile Force Battalion 14B have been relieved from their posts.
01:22Included in this number are the 12 police officers directly involved in the beatings.

01:46Tuano further stated, the abuse was discovered after one of the patrolmen filed a complaint
01:51which more than a hundred others followed suit.
01:54The victims are now undergoing medical examinations.
01:57Tuano clarified that exercises such as roll like a barrel and duck walk are the only ones allowed during welcoming rights.
02:04But this was apparently not followed with physical assault using arnie sticks and punches included in the initiation.

02:28At present, the Police Regional Office Bank sa Moro Autonomous Region is preparing administrative and criminal cases against the police officers involved.
02:37The PNP is also determining whether any police commissioned officers or officials were involved in the incident.
02:43Meanwhile, the NAPOCOM assured to also investigate the incident.
02:47According to NAPOCOM Vice Chairperson and Executive Officer Rafael Kalinisan,
02:51hazing is illegal and they will not let the incident go unpunished.
