With some e-bike users riding on pavements and increasing their vehicle’s speed, do people in the region feel they’re fine, they need controls in place, or should they be banned outright?

00:00I think they're good for some things, but I think there should definitely be more controls.
00:03I'm not a local here. I'm here for uni, but in London, they're just crazy at the moment.
00:09I've definitely been run over, like nearly run over quite a few times.
00:13But I think overall it's good because I know a lot more people use them.
00:16My mum now uses them instead of driving to work, which is probably better for the environment.
00:20But yeah, definitely more controls.
00:23Yeah, I'm in agreement. And I think that bike lanes are really important in cities,
00:26especially like a very non-pedestrianized city or even a pedestrianized city.
00:31I think bike lanes are very important because it encourages people to go out on their bikes
00:36and choose this more environmentally conscious way,
00:38but without endangering other pedestrians and motorists.
00:43I think definitely should be regulated. Just keep everyone safe, really.
00:49It's the people on the bikes that are at risk more than people who are driving.
00:54So definitely, but I haven't really felt like it's an issue in Newcastle.
