Transcript
00:00You
00:22Call your dot 9-1-1. Do you need police fire MS? Hello?
00:26Bro, I need an ambulance! Ambulance!
00:28What's the location?
00:30Bundy, we're on.
00:32Bro, I think my little brother is dead.
00:34Tell me what's going on. Tell me exactly what happened.
00:36Bro, my brother got shot, man. Come on.
00:38My brother got shot in his health.
00:40Okay, we have police fire and EMF on the way.
00:48What is that?
00:50They about to come up.
00:52What is that?
00:54Don't worry, bro.
00:58They're a pose.
01:00No pose?
01:02That's it, brother. Who did this?
01:04I don't know.
01:06Y'all just found them right there?
01:08It's my own call weekend. I was enjoying the Saints game. We're losing right now.
01:18It's my on-call weekend.
01:27I was enjoying the Saints game.
01:30We're losing right now.
01:31But then I just got a call.
01:33We have a shooting out here in New Orleans East,
01:36which is actually where I'm from.
01:40Matter of fact, we're going to pass it from my mama's house.
01:43All I know right now is that it's a 15-year-old, I believe.
01:47Found behind an abandoned apartment complex.
01:50Hopefully we get some witnesses or maybe some surveillance
01:53or something that'll kind of give me some leads early in the investigation.
01:58But I usually have good luck, so hopefully that'll happen.
02:01That's my mom's house, by the way.
02:03Hey, mom.
02:05Being that I'm from New Orleans East, born and raised,
02:07that's kind of my area.
02:08So usually when I get cases there,
02:10one of the things that I'm hoping is that maybe somebody
02:12will see me out there who may have information.
02:15People may be more forthcoming to give me some information
02:17just because they're familiar with me.
02:20This actual apartment complex is maybe a block or two
02:23from where I grew up.
02:25I used to walk this way every morning,
02:26going to high school, elementary.
02:29I'm going to take up this parking spot right here.
02:31So let's see what we got.
02:42What's going on?
02:44Yeah, two shots.
02:45Got him shot.
02:46So laid out.
02:48There's no shell, kids never found.
02:50He has two guns shot with me for that.
02:53Okay.
02:54All right.
02:54I'll go talk to him.
02:55Appreciate it.
02:56When I get on the scene, we find the victim.
02:59He's behind an apartment complex.
03:01The front of the apartment complex still has tenants in it,
03:05but the location where we found him,
03:07it's an abandoned apartment complex by a tennis court.
03:10Maybe that's where everybody come hang at
03:12because there's nobody back there.
03:13It's kind of an area where the young kids come,
03:16you know, do whatever they do.
03:17So I kind of want to know if that has something to do with this.
03:21It's supposed to be Javon Elo.
03:24Mm-hmm.
03:24Uh, the brother said he had some sort of premonition.
03:28I knew that his brother was going to be back here.
03:30Heard a couple pops, went back here, found him back here.
03:33My victim's name is Javon Elo.
03:35He's young.
03:36He's a teenager.
03:37He goes to a high school in the area.
03:39He stays with his grandmother in New Orleans East.
03:42He's only 15 years old.
03:47I think that's the ****.
03:49I'm going to go talk to him in a second.
03:52You know?
03:52Yeah, he from back here.
03:56That's a part of being from back here.
03:59Unfortunately, you come across people that you, you know, you know.
04:05Being that I'm familiar with the victim's family member,
04:08of course it gives a little more fuel to the fire,
04:10but I'm like that with every investigation.
04:12Come on, Javon.
04:13Let me talk to you right away.
04:14Come on, please.
04:15All right.
04:15Let me talk to you first.
04:16Javon, come on, Javon.
04:18You know me.
04:18Let me talk to you first.
04:19First of all, I'm sorry for your loss.
04:21That's what we're going to do.
04:22You got to hold tight.
04:23You got to give me a second.
04:24Let me get all our stuff together, okay?
04:25Because the main thing, we got to make sure we get all the evidence, bro,
04:28because I'm going to get you some answers.
04:29All right?
04:30You know how I move.
04:31You already know that.
04:32Javon, I almost see my baby right now, Javon.
04:36I got you.
04:37I don't care about nothing else.
04:38I got you.
04:39I got you.
04:40That's the only thing going to call my nurse.
04:41Let me talk to you.
04:42Javon, Javon.
04:43So we have to wait.
04:44We have to wait for the coroner to get there.
04:46Let me get the coroner in.
04:47Let me take care of that first, all right?
04:49It doesn't matter if I know the family or not.
04:51You know, this is a 15-year-old kid.
04:53I'm going to try and do my best to give the family some justice.
04:56All right.
05:00Anything besides him out here?
05:01We did a pretty good canvas when we got out here.
05:05No caissons or anything like that.
05:06So we have a canine dog coming out and a ballistic dog to see if they can try to find some evidence.
05:13Something.
05:14I mean, having grass a little high, too, so we could be just missing it.
05:18Yeah, it'd be very difficult to spot, especially at nighttime.
05:21You don't have anybody heard any shots?
05:23I'm not sure.
05:24I know there's cameras in the front at this point.
05:25Yeah, there's cameras on the front at the office.
05:28That's the only ones that I know of.
05:29Okay.
05:30Of course, nothing back here, right?
05:32Probably not.
05:33This is an abandoned thing.
05:34These are abandoned.
05:34Nobody's back here.
05:36We're kind of looking for casings or maybe any other evidence that we could find.
05:40We're searching that area with flashlights, trying to see if we could find anything like that.
05:45One thing that stood out was as we're searching the body, there's no cell phone.
05:49That's kind of weird to me because he's 15 years old.
05:52There's no way that he's out and about, and he doesn't have his cell phone on.
05:56What's that blinking on his leg?
05:58An ankle monitor.
06:01How long has he been on the ankle monitor?
06:03Do you even know?
06:04No.
06:04We may be able to track exactly where he was prior to the murder, because I want to know
06:12who else was out there when this happened.
06:13I know he wasn't out there by himself.
06:15This is crazy, bro.
06:18Still, so young.
06:19Where's his brother right now?
06:21Every time I walk back to his direction, he disappeared.
06:24So, yeah.
06:25But he doesn't want to talk to anybody.
06:26We got his info.
06:27He doesn't want to talk to anybody.
06:28Where is he?
06:29Uh, let's go see if he's a little standout.
06:31I'll come here.
06:32The brother was a little difficult on scene.
06:35From what I hear, he's not really finding the police.
06:38But we're going to try.
06:39What's your name, little brother?
06:40All right, man.
06:42My name is Detective Johnson, bro.
06:45The victim's brother stated that he wasn't there when the shooting happened.
06:49He heard the shots and ran over there, and that's where he found his brother.
06:53But he doesn't want to talk.
06:55He's walking away from me.
06:56Obviously, he was distraught.
06:57His brother just got killed.
07:01But I see this one person who's, they keep trying to get my attention.
07:05So, at some point, I walk over and I talk to this person.
07:12He maybe the one that actually did it?
07:13Yeah.
07:14They got a name?
07:18Okay.
07:19Did they say what it was about?
07:22I learned that the suspect may be a former friend of the victim.
07:42They always come over here.
07:44They have a apartment in here that's, like, breaking.
07:46Mm-hmm.
07:47And they just hang.
07:47It's like a little hangout spot.
07:49Okay.
07:50All right.
07:50Usually, when people are hanging that time of night, that's usually when bad things happen.
07:56So, I'm interested to know more information.
07:59Any of the stuff open?
08:05They said they'd come back here and hang in these little abandoned little apartments.
08:09Mm-hmm.
08:20When we walk in this apartment complex, it's obviously abandoned, but there's pillows, there's blunt wrappers where they were smoking marijuana.
08:28It's a wreck.
08:29Not some place that I want to hang at.
08:31Yeah, it's definitely a teenage crash spot, a spot where they could just come and just kind of hang out without any supervision.
08:38Nobody come back here.
08:39There's no security back here, so they could just come and hang out.
08:43Kind of do what they want to do.
08:45Yeah.
08:45Not too much in here.
08:48799.
08:49Yeah, I talked to the they said that prior to the shooting, maybe an hour or two before, they saw M3, but didn't think of any of it.
08:59But when they left and when they came back after the shooting, they talked to the brother who mentioned this has something to do with Ramon M3.
09:08Okay.
09:08So that's what we have for right now.
09:10We're going to keep it moving.
09:11And, you know, it's better than nothing.
09:12It's a lot better than nothing.
09:13At least you got a name and then a partial description.
09:16Exactly.
09:24I reached out to ATF to get some assistance with a ballistic dog, and we're going to search that whole area and see if we can find some casings.
09:32Come on, dog.
09:33Come on.
09:34Come on.
09:35Early fishing?
09:35I think we said this little area.
09:37Just a walk through right here.
09:39Okay.
09:40Yeah, this whole area right here.
09:41We'll get out of your way.
09:46Hopefully we find, like, a casing or something.
09:48That'd be cool.
10:00No luck?
10:02Nothing.
10:03There's no change of behavior on anything, so.
10:05Okay.
10:06I mean, she was saying, if you guys are coming in the morning, I don't mind coming back if you guys want or filming in the morning, whatever you guys need.
10:11All right.
10:12But as of right now, I think we're going to probably wrap it up.
10:15I'm going to talk to the family, see if they're giving us some more information.
10:17But, um, I don't know.
10:19That's kind of where we're at right now unless y'all think of anything.
10:22I think what we have is what we have for the night.
10:24Yeah.
10:25Well, I appreciate you as always, brother.
10:27Absolutely.
10:27Thanks for coming out.
10:28Thank you, man.
10:28Yeah, no problem.
10:29Yeah.
10:30All right.
10:31Yeah.
10:31We searched the whole area, ran the dog back and forth.
10:35It's kind of weird that we don't find any casings on the scene.
10:38I wish this was better, but we tried.
10:42Thank you again, bro.
10:43Yeah, absolutely.
10:43Either we're missing where the shooting occurred, or maybe the gun was a revolver.
10:50With a revolver, the casings don't eject out of the gun, so maybe that's why we don't find any ballistic evidence.
10:56At this point, we just don't know.
11:13My victim last night, Javon Elo, I hear that he may have some association or something like that with your case.
11:28Yeah.
11:29Mine's from December with juveniles.
11:31It's all juvenile perpetrators, juvenile victims.
11:33So there's this little crew, as best I could tell, of three kids, two of which were arrested for that case.
11:38The third one, definitely, like, involved in the beef and the motive, but I couldn't put him on the scene, and that is Javon Elo.
11:47Okay.
11:48Learning that my victim was possibly involved in one of Fife's cases, it kind of gives me a different perspective.
11:55Maybe it was something having to do with that.
11:57Maybe it was retaliation.
11:59At this point, we're just trying to figure out what's going on.
12:01My confidential source told me Javon Elo was there to fight Ramon, and they called him M3.
12:08Because Ramon has been telling everybody he's a rat, and that's why Javon's out of jail with an ankle monitor, and why the other dudes are in jail.
12:16When Javon got there to fight, apparently something went another way, and of course he got shot.
12:21They don't live at the apartment complex, I'm assuming?
12:23Mm-mm.
12:24So my confidential source told me they saw Ramon hanging out there prior to the murder and may have been involved.
12:31I know the other child is over involved.
12:35He may be the one that actually did it?
12:36Yeah.
12:37We call him M3, but his name is a great mom.
12:40So that's where we're at right now.
12:42So we'll see how this goes, I guess.
12:45Good luck.
12:45Thank you, bro.
12:46Right now, we're going to go meet with the victim's family.
12:58We can go to Javon's grandmother's house.
13:01You actually can live there.
13:02When you talk to family members, you're catching them at a time where they lost a loved one.
13:10These people are dealing with probably the most tragic thing that's ever happened to them.
13:15Hello.
13:16Hey.
13:16How are you doing?
13:16How are you doing?
13:17How are you doing?
13:18I'm Detective Javon.
13:19I'm my partner with Detective Diasburg.
13:20How you doing?
13:21Good.
13:21Come on.
13:22I got it.
13:22All right.
13:23First of all, I'm the lead detective.
13:24Good.
13:25Come on, I got it.
13:26All right.
13:28First of all, I'm the lead detective.
13:29I'm going to be the main person y'all going to talk to
13:32about anything that goes on with the case, OK?
13:35I kind of want to know what you have heard so far.
13:38The only thing I know, I was here watching the Saints game
13:43and my phone rang.
13:45I said, hello?
13:46Mama, you got to come to the apartment.
13:49Bub just got killed.
13:53I was speechless.
13:55I went there and came and he hugged me and said,
14:00I'm sorry, Mama, I'm sorry.
14:03Being a father, I mean, my son is really young,
14:06but I have a daughter that's close to the age of the victim.
14:09And I've also lost friends at a young age like that,
14:11so I understand both sides of this.
14:14I always told them, stay from over there.
14:19Stay you're behind here.
14:21You live here.
14:22You don't live over there.
14:23Right.
14:24And Javon had that monitor on his ankle.
14:28Mm-hmm.
14:30I think that doesn't affect our investigation,
14:32whatever history he had.
14:35So just so you guys know, we've been working since then,
14:37and none of that stuff doesn't matter to any of the day.
14:39What happened shouldn't have.
14:42There are many programs in New Orleans for kids who may be
14:45in trouble just to keep them on the right path.
14:47And Javon was in one of those programs.
14:50The principal of the school and his teachers came again yesterday.
14:57Wow.
14:58And they was telling us how he was so proud of his grades.
15:03Hey, that's what I'm talking about.
15:05That's the part that doesn't get told enough.
15:11So we're going to get out of your heifer right now.
15:13Y'all got my phone number.
15:14Let me know if y'all get some more information.
15:16I will make sure.
15:18Thank you so much.
15:20It's kind of tough dealing with investigations with juveniles.
15:27You know, a victim has ties to an incident from earlier this year.
15:32But it seemed like Javon was on the right path to be better.
15:37Now we headed back to the scene.
15:41I have Wayne and the other car falling behind.
15:45We're trying to see if we could get maybe some video prior to the murder.
15:49See if Javon is with somebody or who he was talking to or anything like that.
15:54Because I'm very optimistic and I'm crazy.
15:56I believe that we're going to get an amazing shot of the whole incident
16:01from a camera we didn't see last night.
16:08Hey, how you doing?
16:09All right, pretty good.
16:11We just wanted to try to see if we could get a little bit of footage.
16:14The only cameras y'all have is the ones that's on this, right?
16:16Right.
16:17Right.
16:18You kind of have a specific time that we're looking at.
16:22This is the front.
16:23Yeah.
16:24The apartment complex has surveillance cameras.
16:28Unfortunately, they only show the front of the apartment complex.
16:31They don't have cameras that actually face the scene where the shooting occurred,
16:34which was behind an abandoned building.
16:36See what that Jeep thing is right there?
16:39There's people over there.
16:41That's an abandoned apartment.
16:44With the footage that we did collect,
16:46you can see that maybe 20, 30 minutes prior to the murder,
16:50there's definitely a lot of movement in front of the abandoned apartment complex
16:53that a lot of kids come and hang at.
16:5621, 28 would be the shooting time.
17:00Yeah.
17:01This should be the shooting timeframe.
17:03Oh, .
17:06There's some people here.
17:11They're running.
17:12Oh, they're that bull riding.
17:14You could also see people running around a few minutes after the murder.
17:19We can't see exactly who these individuals are.
17:22So, unfortunately, right now we don't have much.
17:27Pretty good.
17:28Let's go around the back.
17:34This is where the victim was found, right here in the grass.
17:37There was no big blood puddle, no casings, no nothing.
17:42These are all empty.
17:44Yeah, they all abandoned.
17:46And the only thing back here is nothing as far as camera wise or less.
17:51What about the hospital?
17:52That's what I was just looking at.
17:54You maybe could see something moving around.
17:58Look, they got cameras on the poles, like the ones over there.
18:02Oh, yeah.
18:03Worth a try.
18:04Even if we can catch something, like, in the background, we can see.
18:08Yeah.
18:09Should be able to see some movement.
18:10Where they went or where they came from.
18:11Yeah, some movement or something.
18:12Yeah, let's go check the hospital.
18:20Yo, what up, bro?
18:22Hey, you had a call.
18:24A mom called said my was out there with a little boy that got killed last night.
18:28He wants to talk to the police.
18:30He wants to give a statement.
18:31Oh, .
18:32The unit's over there right now sitting with mom in the house.
18:36I'll send you the officer who's out there a cell phone number.
18:38You just give him a call, tell him you're on the way over.
18:40All right, sounds good.
18:41I'm going to head to the door.
18:42Bye-bye.
18:43Later.
18:44This is a big break because we don't have much.
18:46We have a name of a suspect, Ramon.
18:49But we don't have any witnesses who actually saw the murder.
18:52So I want to see what this person has to say.
18:55But this is big.
19:00How you doing, Detective Johnson?
19:02Hey, don't .
19:19So, yeah.
19:21That went interesting.
19:23When first speaking to this witness, they were a little nervous, but also scared because
19:28they were there and they witnessed the homicide.
19:30They said that they were all hanging outside back there by that apartment.
19:36So that was them on the camera.
19:38It was the deceased victim, M3, and a bunch of other little boys and girls.
19:44But M3 and the victim were arguing.
19:47Okay.
19:48And they said out there, the only person that had a gun on them was M3.
19:51He had it in his waistband.
19:53The witness informed me that they saw Ramon armed with a handgun.
19:57They wasn't able to describe it, but said it was a small handgun.
20:01And he was flashing it, showing it off.
20:03All the boys walked to the back.
20:05And at some point, the brother was back there.
20:08We don't know if he witnessed it or he just happened to be in that vicinity, but he was back there.
20:11They hear the shots.
20:13And then they see the victim's brother come from that same way, talking about they just killed my brother.
20:18But they didn't see where the boy M3 went.
20:22But it places M3 there.
20:24Yeah.
20:25And he has a gun.
20:26Yeah.
20:27The confidential source provided the Instagram for M3.
20:32But he took everything off his page.
20:35I got his phone number too.
20:37So we're definitely going to need a warrant to get that information.
20:40We have to find out where Ramon is right now, because people saw this.
20:46They're scared.
20:47They could be in danger.
20:48So we need to get him off the street.
20:49So we need to get him off the street.
20:51Go into the school to see if they know Ramon, it can take me away.
21:18to the school to see if they know ramon aka m3 um because we don't have a last name and a date
21:25of birth or any information on them so um hopefully i'll be able to maybe even get an address or
21:31something at this point we don't have much um we have a nickname of a suspect but we need something
21:38a little more concrete the orleans east is where i grew up and you know before katrina i never even
21:47went past the superdome everything for me was downtown in new orleans east my whole little
21:52my area that's why you go to taekwondo plus on karate over there boy yeah yeah still got it
21:58i was a green belt i was going up for my next match and they didn't have any more green belts for me to
22:03fight against so guess what they did black belt yeah they put me up against and guess what happened
22:08it was a her she kicked me in the face that was so mad bro i was ready to own bro i took the little
22:13belt off i swung it up quit in front of everybody kind of helps on the job you know people don't see
22:20police officer ray l johnson they see you know the guy that they know that went to school with them so
22:25they feel more comfortable talking
22:39i just went in and talked to one of the administrative people and as soon as i mentioned the name ramon
22:45she knew exactly what i was talking about she said his name is raymon um raymon javon and ramon
22:52they're both 15 years old so it's just say you know dealing with investigations with juveniles
22:57so i think when he ran out the back he jumped across that canal across the canal like literally
23:02this is this is the canal this is the canal he would have had to yeah to hop across that way
23:07it's definitely possible oh look at that you could jump down there that ain't nothing and the
23:12description that they gave blackmail will kind of twist kind of hair you can see it right there just
23:18like they described so i'm pretty much sure it's gonna be him um i would rather before we go too
23:25far where i would really like somebody to take a look at it and tell me you know that that's the guy
23:30that they're talking about even if they didn't see the shooting just telling me that that's m3
23:41so we went to the school asking if they knew a raymon you say m3 they're like yep mm-hmm
23:52that is literally across the canal from the apartment in the schools no so they actually
23:58don't fall break they got out friday yeah is there any way to get across the canal
24:03just jump it's not a wide canal if you look at eunice you see how it's like a little grass there
24:09yeah so you just got pipes too yeah dude i used to stay on the wire up the street and that's what we
24:13used to do either cross the pipe or just if there's a little part right there little shadow part you
24:17just just jump right over it so i'm almost one to bet that's what he did yeah we can get video of him
24:24moving around right afterwards yeah yeah
24:28at this point i have the alleged suspect's name i have a witness see if we can maybe find some
24:34surveillance video we're moving the case is starting to start to move in the right direction
24:49the lieutenant ran his name for me he's actually wanted right now give it to the vcat let them go
24:56out maybe do some surveillance so you know yes make this a little easier at this point we don't
25:04have enough on arrest warrant so i'm going to keep working to get that but it won't be hard to find
25:09him he did have an active warrant for previous investigation hey what's up bro this rail hey what's
25:20up you busy so um i'm working this case over here on bundy with uh javon this the kid that got killed
25:29other day yeah you got it so um we found out that the guy that he supposedly got into with who we
25:36believe is the suspect is his name's raymond i'm calling to see if you guys could maybe do a little
25:42work on him see if we could catch him he's wanted right now that's the good news okay yeah so yeah that
25:48give us definitely some ammo to really go at him so and that's gonna be a suspect of yours yeah he's
25:54definitely the suspect oh i got a phone number too i got a phone number for him okay yes all right
26:00sound good thank you bro all right later so that made that ten times easier see if they can maybe
26:08catch him you know arrest him for the for the charges that he already had pending in this investigation
26:14we don't have any shell casings we don't have any surveillance video two big pieces that usually
26:19help solve homicides but we have a good lead we're gonna find you we're gonna locate you
26:36yesterday me and wayne we went back out to try to get video from the hospital
26:41the camera that was in the back that faced apartment complex it was out because look they
26:45got cameras on the poles oh yeah even if we can catch something like like an image in the background
26:51yeah couldn't get anything off that of course but then m3 school gives me a picture of him his name
26:58is ramon gives me his address and his residence has a ring camera oh so i didn't want him for the ring
27:07yesterday did you do a non-disclosure order no because ring they'll give it to you
27:14but ring will tell them that you're trying to get it great hopefully she don't check her email
27:20but the real thing that id right now is to talk to the victim's brother right
27:27we have the name ramon as a suspect we have an address at this point we want to go straight
27:32to the house but we know we can't do that yet we still want to speak to everybody else that was
27:37out there especially if the victim's brother we believe he has information about what happened
27:47hello hey how are you doing how you doing my name is detective johnson it's my call
27:52detective deepsburg while inside the house javon's brother he was a little standoffish he didn't
28:03really want to give up information about it he said that he wasn't there when the homicide happened
28:09you know what sucks when we were talking to him i could tell he wants to tell me something
28:14but he just wouldn't give me that information and not like i could really force him right
28:18it yo what up bro so his phone right now has been pinging in dallas all day but during the murder
28:27he was definitely in the area like phones pinging exactly there this phone is it pinging exactly at
28:32the scene when it happened yeah he must have been using his phone like calling somebody right after
28:37mm-hmm documents or the calls he made yeah yeah whatever y'all get if you could but yeah just forward
28:43me that for sure we learned from bk that the cell phone of ramon is pinging
28:48into dallas but at this time this kid's on break from school so i don't know if he ran to
28:53the location fleeing because of the homicide or is he just out there because they don't break
28:58all right bro thank you the phone records definitely have him in the apartment complex
29:06at the time of the murder yeah i mean i think i think that's pretty real close to a lock on that
29:12yeah 100 percent real close yeah unfortunately in this investigation we don't have any shell casings
29:18we don't have any surveillance video those are two big pieces that usually help solve homicides
29:24but without that there are witnesses to id the shooter this case is going to come down to people
29:30telling us what happened right
29:52how was your weekend busy want to hear about mine
29:55sounds like i want to hear about you sitting at home get a call say hey man we got a witness for
30:03your murder i was contacted by an officer in another district in a whole different part of town
30:09this person walked past the office and kind of like whisper something like i want to tell you about
30:14a murder wow okay when i got over there i'm like somebody did you see anybody with a gun they said oh
30:20oh while we're sitting at the apartment complex m3 has a gun and he takes the gun and he sits it on the
30:26ground and they said oh you know what i took a picture of it oh you got to be kidding me
30:34they took two pictures of them one of them he's just like standing up with a gun
30:38like minutes before the murder they said that m3 and my victim they're going back and forth arguing
30:46they walk around the back of the apartment complex they said they hit shots they run over there
30:52sees m3 running away with a gun jumping the fence and the brother runs up like seconds later
31:00lining up with everything else that i have is more than enough to go absolutely yeah more than
31:05enough more than one person saying they saw him with the gun he's the only one running away after
31:10this year got the picture of him with the gun yeah it's pretty damning like i could probably read
31:15the serial number off the gun i do believe in karma sometimes you may not have an investigation but
31:21eventually things will come to the light type the arrest warrant got signed forwarded over the vows
31:27so they're going to get together with the marshals and um and they're already up on them awesome bro
31:32i still got more to do because i like it won't make it even better but that's pretty damn what i got
31:45so
31:56way check this out i just got ramon's phone records back from analytics oh um and from three o'clock to
32:07the time of the murder he's at the apartment complex all i'm saying so he goes straight from
32:12school to the apartment complex yep okay yep and he puts him right there within that that area that
32:18time frame the phone is still active and i guess we'll work with sod about locate okay and his house
32:26actually had a ring camera on that on the camera come see oh you see right here this is him leaving
32:32in that leaving that morning the morning of the murder pretty much when he's going to school
32:38it looks like nighttime but that's because it was where i was in morning
32:41see right here the little cheetos yeah yeah yeah yeah he's wearing the same sweatshirt that was on the
32:48picture that was supposedly taking minutes before the murder holding the gun
32:54this is before school this is after school you got it with the gun in his hand with the gun in his
32:57hand so that pretty much locks it in that this this picture is valid absolutely you know so
33:04with that being said i mean and this is the morning before this is the morning of the murder
33:08correct how old are you 15 he's 15 15 years old the victim was young like that too
33:15it's difficult when you're dealing with juveniles sometimes these crimes happen for the silliest of
33:20things they could be arguing and it leads to a shooting you're young so you make rash decisions
33:27how did all this beef get started like where did this come from so according to the family they used
33:34to be friends so i went back i got the instagram records and when you go through the records you could
33:40see like how it transitioned initially they were talking about hanging out yeah we about to meet up and
33:46all that kind of stuff and then like a week before the murder he's on there saying stuff like i ain't
33:52finna keep telling you the same thing little boy i would over you my people spared you um spare you and
33:59your brother that's m3 talking to the victim there's even a message right here it said knock you dead and
34:05your on bro like wow bet you won't come in from my house like they're going back and forth and this
34:12kind of gives me more of a motive like something happened in between that while they're beefing now
34:18nowadays younger people they use instagram as a way to communicate they put all of their business
34:24on there all of their information um people talk freely on there because maybe they think law
34:28enforcement can't get it or maybe they just don't care so it's a tool that we use to help in homicide
34:34investigations and in this case it it definitely helped out so with all those things lining up
34:39especially the surveillance video the picture of him with the gun the cell phone putting him there
34:44now we actually have a motive to go with this whole thing
35:04what's your name and what's your phone number ramon he's transported to the slidell office he's there
35:23with his mom i don't know if she was hiding him or maybe she didn't know he was wanted yet but at this
35:29point i think she was scared a little bit okay well we're investigating the homicide that happened
35:33at apartments you remember the one that happened that day you you don't i heard about it i don't know
35:41about it okay you know the young man i was killed that day okay how do you know him okay what's his name
35:51you don't know his name y'all have any arguments via like instagram or anything like that oh i see
35:57that's another one see why you think i actually understand because i already know that y'all had
36:01an argument like yeah that was just that was small that was small i don't know what you're talking
36:05about that was small okay what was that about oh i don't know okay so after school yeah where did
36:14you go on that day um yeah what did you do after that that not cool chill um went went to the parking
36:22smoke because she don't know how to smoke all right so when you went to the apartment who was there
36:28at that time just a yeah a couple of those on the other stairs and i was sitting on the other stairs
36:33just cooling and chilling okay and then what happened i left and went home i got i got a curfew so i
36:40just be going home okay so you went straight home right now did you have a gun no do you have any guns no
36:47so what if i had a photograph of you with a gun in your hand how would you explain that it wasn't my
36:52gun how did it get in your hand how did that okay so where's that going to i don't know it wasn't my
37:03gun okay so whose gun was that i don't know all them do with me not just you know a couple i don't do
37:08who put the gun in the eye nobody i picked it up i just want to be clear you're saying there was no fight
37:13no argument i really want to give you a second to talk with your mom because this is the statement
37:19you're going to leave me with i can easily prove that everything you told me is not true because
37:23i already know that stuff
37:31this was an opportunity for you to explain right oh real quick i'm gonna take you straight up
37:35wasn't that bro straight up a lot of time i thought i was gone going home going home
37:41nothing i'm gonna do inside they got a curfew i was going home straight up
37:46you have cameras at your house yeah a rainbow camera so you want to try it again
37:56so you said that you were at home when all that is all right by the time that popped off i was
38:02already going home you were walking where man meet me my people to get my weed did you get the shots
38:09yeah i heard the shot okay but i i wasn't close okay what was that supposed to mean so that
38:16mean if you're walking home or that's like right there so i'm trying to understand it's right across
38:22the canal i was meeting somebody on the corner now i walked home
38:25so if this is where you want to leave it man like i i'm trying to give give you that
38:38well you didn't have a choice because i have enough evidence obviously to arrest you i already have more
38:47more than that looking at instagram i learned that the victim and the alleged suspect were going
38:54back and forth they were cursing each other out threats about shooting and killing each other it
39:00was just crazy they were going back and forth the whole time who phone you used to get on instagram
39:05huh who following you used to get on the instagram i don't got an instagram my instagram i hate
39:09that's great all right so um is there anything else you want to know all right i'm good they're going
39:16to transport them over and i'll come back and come talk to you all right
39:39he was very loving and caring he was in the club scouts and the boy scouts and he learned a lot of
40:05things and when he got in that little trouble he told me he said my mom when i get out of this you
40:14ain't got to worry about me going to jail no more and he was doing excellent that's amazing that's
40:22amazing and everywhere he went somebody said something to him how good he was his teacher called his
40:33the best and the brightest the best and the brightest javon was so excited about the pathways program
40:42that he was spreading the message come on to other people he is responsible for other people coming
40:49to pathways he is what we want out of each participant when i hear you're respecting people
40:54outside in the community at school you're flourishing that is what we need yeah
41:00i still have his report card his death still sits next to mine um that child he just stole my heart
41:09he is one that i didn't ever want to forget i would tell him i said listen i have two sons three that's him
41:19three i said well okay i have three sons the love this child brought to my life because i'm a parent who
41:27lost a child to violence so children bring me so much joy i'm so used to him coming in here hey old
41:37lady how you doing the day but it took a while for me to be able to really talk about him yeah because i would
41:48get fooled and sometimes now i still get fooled but i know he's in a better place definitely and it was
41:57senseless yeah what happened it has to stop definitely honestly this could have been resolved
42:06in a way where it didn't have to get to this point because if the young man who committed this if he would
42:12have been in your program maybe he would have different ways a different outlet to deal with this
42:15rather than the way that he did right so of course we're gonna continue to talk this isn't gonna be
42:19our last time talking but you know i appreciate everybody you know coming and talking to me you
42:24know finding out that background about him and like i said my phone number is always on i might not answer
42:28all the time because i'm unfortunately the city keeps me busy but you know you shoot me a text or
42:33whatever i'll call you back as soon as i can but you know moving forward you know of course we're not
42:38done we still have to go through these proceedings but this is important to have the support and stuff
42:43because when those days come too i want to see the same people in inside of this courtroom you know
42:48to show the support for his family show he had family and people that cared about him and this
42:52wasn't just another black male killed in the streets in new orleans when we get down to the court thing i
42:57need the same people same people there to show that support we'll be there you know
