00:00Dearest gentle reader, we have been apart for far too long.
00:06Look, I wanted this mask to give me Sophie at the ball, but it's giving Tamlin from Akatah.
00:14The day has finally arrived. I feel like we've been waiting years, because we have.
00:21I'm overwhelmed and I haven't even watched it yet, honestly, I'm scared.
00:25And I've had way too much coffee today and nothing to eat, so that's not helping either.
00:30If you've been on my channel before, then you'll know I'm so, so excited for this season of Bridgerton.
00:36I think there's a good chance it could be the best one yet.
00:41It will be hard to beat season two. I am an absolute Kate and Anthony stan.
00:46I thought their season of TV was perfect, but I think this season can top it.
00:54And I'm nervous because of how high my expectations are for it.
00:58Thinking to the book and sort of the storyline, I guess it depends how much they change the storyline.
01:04I'm not actually expecting it to be changed loads.
01:07The character of Benedict will be quite different to the book, because in the book he's not that great,
01:12and in the show he's an icon.
01:14So there will be changes, obviously, and we still have to do all the other side stories.
01:19We'll still need to see a lot of Francesca, Eloise.
01:21They love to put in the Mondrages a lot.
01:24So we will be seeing a lot of side stories as well, but I'm not sure where they're gonna cut it in half.
01:29I'm not sure what the midpoint of the story, where they're gonna do the mid-season finale is.
01:34So I'm looking forward to finding that out, but also not,
01:37because it's obviously gonna be on some sort of cliffhanger where we'll have to wait a month.
01:41And here's something else.
01:43I've been waiting for Bridgerton to come out, like, really eagerly, since season three dropped.
01:49So for literally years, I've been waiting for this to come out.
01:53But I feel like January has already stolen my, like, crazy fangill brain capacity.
02:01So about two weeks ago, I watched Heated Rivalry,
02:05and naturally went absolutely feral, and it took all of my fangill capacity.
02:11And then this week, and by this week, I mean I finished watching last night a show called Sandican,
02:18and that made me go absolutely feral.
02:22So I'm very, very much still at the cottage, and I'm very much still on the ship.
02:29I don't know if I have the capacity to now go to the masquerade.
02:33But I have to.
02:34But I have to, because it's here.
02:36It's happening today, and I'm going.
02:38I'm going to the masquerade, but I am still very much at the cottage and on the pirate ship.
02:43So I might be clinically insane by the end of binge-watching the first half of Bridgerton.
02:50I may have to go to bed for, like, a week.
02:53So I'm going to watch Bridgerton now over the course of this evening,
02:56and I will check in after each episode with my thoughts and updates.
03:01And we'll see how we go.
03:03So I really, really am scared.
03:06Please be good.
03:06Please be good.
03:08Please be good.
03:22Okay, that was a really good start.
03:25An entire episode dedicated to just the masquerade,
03:29which makes sense.
03:31Probably was expected.
03:33Okay, I have pages of notes.
03:36Okay, so I'm just going to kind of go through the episode and all of the things I noted down.
03:41I love the way the episode opened,
03:45and we got immediately down into the kitchen with the servants,
03:49and we saw behind the curtain,
03:51and we saw, like, Hyacinth waking up, ringing the bell.
03:54We saw bell ringing to, like, signal that Eloise and Francesca were returning.
04:00It just immediately changed the sort of outlook and tone of the whole show.
04:05It was so Downton Abbey, and I mean that with, like, the utmost respect.
04:10The best part about Downton Abbey is the fact that you see, like, the household and you see the household staff.
04:17It's crazy how, like, that one scene made me look at the Bridgertons and the show really differently,
04:22because, obviously, the past three seasons we've watched a Bridgerton,
04:26you know that they're this really rich, upper-class family with lots of money,
04:31but there was something about just immediately seeing all the staff in the house
04:36that made you kind of, I don't know, it just made me think differently
04:40about all of these characters that we already know,
04:43and I absolutely loved that.
04:45I thought it was genius.
04:46It makes me so excited for the other seven episodes we're about to get.
04:50Violet crashing Benedict's orgy is a crazy way to kick off the season.
04:55They also made Benedict, like, fully bi.
04:58So, in the last season, it was kind of, like, bi-curious that,
05:03like, he was part of a threesome, like, he was part of a throuple,
05:06but he wasn't really necessarily actively bi-curious outside of that throuple,
05:11whereas he's just fully leaned into being a bisexual rake,
05:16which is cool, because I also think, not that he's gonna continue
05:20now that we're getting into Benedict and Sophie,
05:23but it sets the sort of tone for when we eventually get to Francesca,
05:28and speaking of Francesca, I do love that they showed a brief scene with her and John
05:34talking about Scotland, because I had a lot of questions about Francesca's story
05:39and how they were going to incorporate Francesca, John, and Michaela's story
05:45throughout this season.
05:46I love that it was just sort of stated that Michaela is in Scotland
05:51and she thinks of the Scotland house as her house.
05:53That immediately gives me so much more context for when we eventually get to Francesca's season,
05:58and I thought it was so interesting that John was like,
06:01you two avoided each other.
06:02Are we gonna get some flashback when we eventually get to Francesca's?
06:06I don't know, but that, I'm really glad that they gave us
06:09a bit of Francesca, John, Michaela context straight off the bat.
06:12Very happy that they did that.
06:14That being said, I am kind of confused by the timeline
06:16of how much time has passed between season three and season four.
06:19Each season of Bridgerton is like a season in Bridgerton,
06:24so it's a summer.
06:25It's a social season in Bridgerton.
06:28So we kind of have to assume that a year has passed
06:30since it was like Colin and Penelope getting married
06:34and Francesca and John meeting.
06:36But we ended season three seeing Penelope have a baby,
06:40and then they went off to Scotland.
06:42But that baby was still a baby.
06:44I mean, it wasn't a newborn baby, it was a pretty big baby.
06:47But, like, I don't, I'm, basically, I'm confused of,
06:50confused as to how long Eloise and Francesca were in Scotland.
06:54Like, how old is Colin and Penelope's baby?
06:56But I don't know.
06:57It was unclear to me, the timeline.
06:59Not that it's very important.
07:01Speaking of Colin and Penelope,
07:04they were cute in the sort of momentary scenes we got of them.
07:08Very cute.
07:08I'm very excited for when we eventually get Kate and Anthony back.
07:12I'm pretty sure they are in this season,
07:15but they'll probably be in the back half
07:17because they're currently in India.
07:19Confirmed that they have had their child in India.
07:23I'm sure they will be back with the baby later on in the season.
07:26Can't wait to see them.
07:27So, something I was really shocked about
07:29was when Sophie just rocked up to the ball
07:32in her gown, in her mask, off the cuff,
07:35just went in, and we didn't get any backstory.
07:37Because in the trailer for Bridgerton,
07:41they show her with the staff deciding
07:45that she's going to go to the ball.
07:46And we didn't see it in this first episode,
07:48so it's clearly going to be a flashback,
07:50probably in episode two.
07:51I actually thought it was genius
07:53to not reveal it until the end of the episode.
07:57Obviously, I and, like, honestly,
07:59probably 90% of the people who watch Bridgerton
08:02already knew she was the maid.
08:04So, it was not shocking.
08:06But, my God, it would have been so good
08:09to have watched that
08:10if you went in completely blind
08:13and you didn't know that Sophie is a maid.
08:16Like, I knew it was coming.
08:17I know the entire plot.
08:18I know she's a maid.
08:20But when she goes home
08:21and takes off all her outfit
08:23and she puts on that maid outfit,
08:25I had full body chills.
08:28I just got full body goosebumps.
08:30I cannot imagine that reveal
08:35if you didn't know it was coming.
08:36I would have been shook
08:37had I not seen it coming.
08:39Another note on Sophie and Benedict is
08:40I found it quite crazy
08:42that it was, like, love at first sight
08:45after we just established
08:47for the first half of the episode
08:49that Benedict is just shagging
08:51everything and everyone.
08:53But it was almost like love at first sight
08:54when he sees Sophie in a mask.
08:56So, I'm not mad at it
08:58because I'm suspending belief.
09:00But, you know, it was kind of...
09:02Unrealistic, but I'm suspending my belief for it.
09:07I bloody love Hyacinth.
09:09I know in the video I did
09:11talking about all the books,
09:12I said I wasn't really that big
09:13of a fan of Hyacinth's book.
09:15But Hyacinth is one of my favourite Bridgertons.
09:17I love that they gave her screen time
09:19in this episode.
09:20No Gregory, because Gregory is off at Eton.
09:23Perfect, as he should be.
09:24Let's set up their storylines.
09:26I love Florence Hunt.
09:28I think that's her name, Florence Hunt,
09:30who plays Hyacinth.
09:32The whole debate about whether
09:33Gregory and Hyacinth should be recast
09:36when it gets to their seasons,
09:37because we watch them as kids.
09:39No, I don't agree with that.
09:40I think they should absolutely get to
09:42continue to play their characters.
09:44And I know Florence Hunt specifically
09:45really wants to continue playing Hyacinth.
09:48She's read her book multiple times.
09:49She said she's going to learn Italian
09:51because in her book,
09:53her character speaks Italian.
09:54I love how much Florence Hunt loves Hyacinth.
09:57And I love how much she understands her character.
10:00And I love how they showed Hyacinth is grown now.
10:03They were saying that she's going to be out in society soon.
10:06They also showed that she's grown in the fact
10:08that she's sneaking into this ball
10:10and she's just showing her rebellious nature already.
10:13And I am so happy they did that.
10:15I love that.
10:16I love Hyacinth.
10:17I'm so happy that they did that.
10:18I was a bit concerned about how they were going to handle Lady Whistledown
10:22now that Penelope is like outed.
10:24And they got straight into that.
10:26They answered my questions and dealt with it very quickly.
10:28Very happy about that.
10:29I'm very comfortable and confident
10:31with how the Lady Whistledown thing can carry on as is.
10:35Because I was a bit like,
10:36how's Penelope going to be able to overhear any gossip
10:39if everyone knows that she's Whistledown?
10:41I did feel like it would be a bit more like Gossip Girl
10:44where people feed gossip even if it's fake
10:47and are kind of malicious with feeding gossip to Gossip Girl.
10:50And that's what I was concerned about.
10:52But so far, I'm happy and I'm comfortable
10:55with how Whistledown is going to go without her being anonymous.
10:59So yeah, the last thing I wanted to mention was
11:01Eloise deciding that she's on the shelf
11:03and she's going to be a spinster.
11:05Kind of obsessed with it.
11:07And by the way, I was obsessed with her Joan of Arc outfit.
11:09That was perfect.
11:10We're literally one episode in to Benedict's season.
11:13I don't know which order they're going to do Francesca and Eloise
11:16but I'm already foaming up the mouth for Eloise's season
11:21because of the fact that she's like,
11:22I'm a spinster, I'm on the shelf, I'm not going to get married.
11:24It's going to make her season even better.
11:27In my head now, I'm just thinking about Eloise and Chris Fulton
11:31because I've been seeing a lot of like thirst trap pictures
11:34of Chris Fulton lately
11:35and it just makes me feral for Eloise's season
11:37and it's going to be years before we get it.
11:39And we're not even finished Benedict and Sophie's season.
11:42That's how I feel after episode one.
11:44I loved it.
11:45It was making me tear up.
11:47Lady Danbury's speech about wanting to leave made me tear up.
11:50Yeah, I love it.
11:51I'm really excited to get into the meat of it now
11:54because episode one was just getting back into the world and the masquerade.
11:58I'm really looking forward to getting into Sophie's backstory.
12:01I already love her.
12:02I think Yeren is doing an amazing job already.
12:05I'm obsessed with them already.
12:08I'm already obsessed with them.
12:10I'm going to go watch episode two now.
12:11Okay.
12:23Oh my god.
12:28Oh my god.
12:29I've just cried the second half of that episode.
12:32Oh my god.
12:34It's perfect.
12:35It's perfect.
12:36It's the perfect book adaptation.
12:38The only thing that would have made it better was keeping the two-year time jump.
12:43So in the book, there is a two-year time jump between Sophie being kicked out of the house
12:50and her and Benedict meeting again at the Cavenders house.
12:55There was clearly a time jump in the show.
12:57It's just not clear how long that time jump was.
13:01There had to have been a time jump in order for Sophie to have got to the country,
13:04got that job and that employment.
13:06We just sort of saw Benedict pass out drunk, like in a sort of stupor.
13:12But it wasn't clear if there was a time jump.
13:15I guess we're not going to really know unless, until we see like the ton again and see the
13:20other, like see Violet and stuff.
13:22But I would assume that there was only maybe a few weeks a month max.
13:27But oh my god, it was, god, it was perfect.
13:30It was perfect.
13:31Okay.
13:32Let me go through my notes from episode two.
13:35Oh, so I love Posey.
13:38We're supposed to love Posey.
13:40Posey's the like really lovely, nice sister.
13:45I want to, Araminta, I think is her name, the stepmother.
13:48She is the devil.
13:50I've forgotten the name of the actress, but it's the girl from Harry Potter, isn't it?
13:55She is doing such a good job at playing the evil stepmother.
13:59I hate her.
14:01I hate her so, so much.
14:04She's nailing it.
14:05I'm also absolutely obsessed with the fellow two servants who work with Sophie, particularly
14:12the guy.
14:13But those two servants are amazing.
14:15I don't know if we're really going to see much of them again, though, now that Sophie
14:18is not in that household.
14:20The flashbacks, I think, were done perfectly with that sort of like blurred edge to make
14:26it look like a memory.
14:27The girl who was playing little Sophie, she was so cute.
14:32I just think they did such a good job adaptating it from the book.
14:37I'm interested to see if it stays quite book accurate throughout the rest of the season.
14:42I mean, all of the seasons have been pretty good for the book.
14:45The one that's changed the most is season two is Kate and Anthony.
14:49So far, two episodes in.
14:51This feels so perfect to the book, but it's keeping all the good stuff about the book.
14:57And it's too early to tell, but they are changing the negatives.
15:01So far, we'll have to wait and see if that stays.
15:05I love Eloise and Benedict.
15:07They're the best sibling duo.
15:09I love the actors in real life and their friendship in real life.
15:13I love that we got another swing scene.
15:15We always get a swing scene between Eloise and Benedict, but it's usually at the end of
15:19the season and we got it at the beginning this time, but I love those two as a duo.
15:24That scene where it was the orchestral version of Enchanted by Taylor Swift, while she was debating
15:30whether to walk in the room and staring at him through the gap in the door, had me sobbing.
15:36I don't even know why.
15:37It was perfectly acted.
15:39The longing and the forbidden love is already making me sick.
15:45I'm physically ill.
15:46And it's, we're two episodes in.
15:53It's just exactly, it's exactly what I wanted.
15:57And it's so, it's exactly how I felt when I read the book.
16:01I love it so much.
16:02I also absolutely love Brimsley.
16:05His speech to Lady Danbury had me crying.
16:08And then her getting kicked out of the house had me absolutely sobbing.
16:12Oh, fuck this show.
16:16And then the Queen and Lady Danbury scene where the Queen is like,
16:21you can't leave me because I need you here when he dies.
16:24Oh my God.
16:25We're only on the second episode and I can't, I've just been crying the entire time.
16:30In love, 50% of the way through my binge for the night.
16:35I'm going to go and make some food and then I'm going to watch episode three.
16:42Okay, my emotions are a little bit more calm after this one than they were after episode two.
16:57I feel like a lot happened in episode three.
17:00We got a lot more like side story.
17:03So we went sort of back to Francesca and Colin and Penelope and Eloise and Violet and Hyacinth,
17:10as well as being with Benedict and Sophie at the cottage.
17:14We're back at the cottage.
17:16Straight out of one cottage, straight into another.
17:20Which is hilarious that it's like this huge house.
17:24I'm not sure if it's described like that in the book.
17:27I can't really remember, but when I was reading the book, I definitely was imagining a cottage,
17:32not a huge house.
17:34So I did find that funny, but maybe that was just my understanding was wrong when I read it.
17:40But I do want to say I had a feeling during this episode where I just,
17:44sometimes I'll be watching something, I've felt it quite a few times this month,
17:48where I've just really felt like fangirl.
17:50And it just reminds me why I love the romance genre so much and like,
17:55why I just want to live and breathe it and why I literally made this channel.
17:59Like, I was just staring at the TV during that episode.
18:03So engrossed, so happy, so gooey and mushy inside.
18:07And it's just everything I live for.
18:09And it's why I love Bridgerton and it's why I love romance in general.
18:12So, you know, just wanted to say that.
18:14But The Maid Wars, The Maid Wars, amazing.
18:18I love how they're portraying that.
18:20I love the Varley and Portia drama storyline of it all.
18:26Because I love the Featheringtons.
18:28I love Portia Featherington.
18:30I love her relationship with Varley.
18:32And I love how that's being incorporated into The Maid Wars.
18:36Love it.
18:37With Sophie and Benedict, I really like that they made him injured.
18:41And that's why he was ill.
18:43In the book, it was like he got man flu from the rain.
18:46So it's much more believable that he got injured fighting to protect Sophie.
18:50Kiss me.
18:56You just said kiss me.
18:59You said it again.
19:03You said it again.
19:04They were so sweet flying that kite.
19:06That was cute as.
19:08They're so cute.
19:09Benedict in the lake.
19:12And then he gets out and he's just naked, cheeked up.
19:17We got such a close-up on his bum.
19:20Practically see what he had for breakfast.
19:22And then, again, I cannot remember if this happens in the book.
19:27It probably does.
19:28But they kissed.
19:30They kissed at the lake.
19:32Is this actually happening?
19:33They kissed at the lake.
19:35They kissed at the lake.
19:36I remember there being a lake scene.
19:38But I don't know.
19:38I just binge read the books.
19:40And so a lot of details have just fallen out of my head now.
19:43But them kissing was crazy.
19:47I didn't see it coming.
19:48I was like, oh, they're going to be interrupted.
19:49It'll be a near kiss.
19:50Nope.
19:51They fully kissed.
19:52And it was a good kiss.
19:54Yeah.
19:54It was a really good kiss.
19:56Their tension is stunning.
19:59Stunning.
20:00I feel like they have so much chemistry.
20:02And I can't believe I've only watched three out of eight episodes.
20:06I can't wait till the second half of the season.
20:08Oh, it's just going to be beautiful.
20:11But I'm already so obsessed with them.
20:14And in terms of Sophie and Benedict's part of the story,
20:18I'm also absolutely in love with Mr. and Mrs. Crabtree.
20:21I remember loving them in the book.
20:22I love them equally, if not more, in the show.
20:25Especially Mrs. Crabtree.
20:26I just want to give her a hug.
20:29I don't know.
20:30I just love her.
20:31So I guess moving away from that delicious tension at the cottage,
20:37we can get into the other storylines that were going on.
20:40First of all, I will say,
20:41I really, really don't care about Violet's love story with Lady Danbury's brother.
20:48I just...
20:49It's sweet.
20:50I actually quite like them together.
20:52Like, I don't dislike it.
20:53I'm just so neutral about it.
20:55I just...
20:56What I kind of love about Violet is the whole story that her and Edmund were like.
21:02It was this soulmate, true love.
21:05And a big part of the books is, like, Anthony had to, like, raise the kids for a few years
21:11because Violet was so heartbroken from the death of her husband.
21:14Like, she couldn't even function.
21:16And I suppose, no, she doesn't want to be a widow for the rest of her life.
21:21Like, she does deserve to find love again.
21:23But at the same time, I almost...
21:24I'm a bit, like, emo about that sometimes.
21:28I sort of really love all-or-nothing heartbreaking love sometimes.
21:32So I actually quite liked that she almost just lived vicariously through her children's romances.
21:37So, I don't know.
21:39I'm not upset about her romance in the show.
21:42But I also just have very little emotion towards it.
21:45My favourite thing out of that scene with her and...
21:48I don't even know his name.
21:49Lady Danbury's brother.
21:50The best part of that scene, to me, was the orchestral version of Paramore playing in the background.
21:54So, that says it all, really.
21:56Also, speaking of Violet, why is she the worst person in the world at explaining sex to her children?
22:01It would be less awkward to just describe clearly what an orgasm is.
22:06Just explain what an orgasm is to your child, Violet.
22:08Don't be so weird about it.
22:10You're making it weird.
22:11Which, I guess, leads into why she was speaking to Francesca about orgasms anyway.
22:16The seeds they're planting for Francesca is beautiful.
22:20Is beautiful.
22:22Someone left a comment on the last Bridgerton video I did when we were talking about, like,
22:26time skips and setting up stories in advance.
22:28And they said that they were glad that the masquerade wasn't happening in an earlier season
22:33because it means you could watch Benedict's season as just a single unit and you didn't
22:38need context from the previous season.
22:41Like, you could just turn on and watch season four and get the complete story of Benedict and Sophie.
22:46Which I actually thought was a really good point because it's not something I'd really
22:48considered because in my head I was, why would someone just watch season four of Bridgerton?
22:52But it was a good point.
22:54But Francesca is absolutely not going to have that situation.
22:58Her story is really going to be spread over seasons, I think.
23:02I love that they're planting the seeds now where it's like,
23:05here and John love and respect each other and have a very calm, peaceful, happy marriage.
23:09But, like, they don't have an exciting sex life.
23:12The fact that when he brought out her ice cream, he was just like,
23:16wait, I wrote down the exact quote,
23:19your usual vanilla, just after her and Penelope had been discussing passion.
23:24They're discussing passion with their husbands and then her husband comes out
23:28and gives her an ice cream and says,
23:30your usual vanilla.
23:32Hilarious.
23:33Perfect.
23:34Loved that.
23:35Yeah, the seeds being planted for Francesca's season are incredible.
23:39The discussion about fertility as well, like, should we not be with child yet?
23:44Stunning.
23:46The groundwork going into Francesca is insane.
23:50And so is Eloise's.
23:52Again, we saw more of Hyacinth.
23:54Love that we're seeing Hyacinth.
23:55Would like to see some of Gregory at some point.
23:57But Eloise is just so funny.
23:59Claudia Jessie is hilarious.
24:01Eloise is not as funny as the actress, but Eloise is still funny.
24:05And I love the tone they're setting for her feeling like an outcast
24:10amongst her, like, sisters and her friend because she's not married.
24:14Like, they're going out for, like, a double date without her.
24:17And she comes over to Penelope's.
24:20Francesca's already there and they've got inside jokes about warm biscuits.
24:24I love the groundwork they're setting to make Eloise feel like an outcast.
24:28I was saying before, and I still am on the fence about whether we're going to get
24:32Francesca or Eloise next season.
24:34They're setting the seeds for both characters so well.
24:38But just the fact that they're making Eloise feel like an outcast and make her question
24:44this whole, oh, I'm putting myself on the shelf as a spinster.
24:47But in doing so, she's now being left out.
24:49The whole comment about the tag for the spinster, she's like, oh, at least we get silver.
24:54And the woman's saying, no, that's grey.
24:56They're setting the seeds for this conflict in Eloise's head, which makes me think,
25:01actually, we're going to get Eloise next.
25:02I was on the fence, and I still am, but I'm heading more to the Eloise side of the fence.
25:08And I think that's all of the points I need to say.
25:12Okay, we have one episode left.
25:15Let's get into it.
25:27I remembered to connect the microphone this time.
25:30I actually think it's illegal.
25:31I think it's illegal.
25:34I have to wait now one whole month to watch the end of that.
25:40Illegal.
25:41Straight to jail.
25:42Straight to jail right away.
25:43Illegal.
25:44Simply illegal.
25:45Oh, okay.
25:47My head's just a blur, actually, after that last episode.
25:50I'm like, in my head, I can't actually work out what happened just in that specific episode.
25:54Luckily, I took a few notes.
25:56Not many, though.
25:57But let me try and get my thoughts in order from that last episode.
26:02Okay, so first thing that I mentioned is Gregory is back.
26:07I also love the moment Hyacinth had with Eloise, where she sort of told her off.
26:11Again, it feels like it's planting that seed of Eloise feeling like an outcast and starting to feel lost amongst her family.
26:19I do feel like we're setting up Eloise quite a bit.
26:24And I love that Gregory was back.
26:26The whole him having facial hair was quite funny.
26:29But again, I think the showrunners are aware that there's a bit of discourse around whether the same actors should stay on for their seasons.
26:36Even though it's going to be bloody years, absolutely years, before we get to Gregory's.
26:40But I think they are trying to show that they're not kids and they're ageing and they are growing up and becoming adults.
26:46So I love that Gregory was back and I love the little bonding moment with the brothers.
26:51I also loved Sophie bonding with Eloise and Hyacinth.
26:55I also absolutely loved when Violet and Sophie were talking and Violet was getting to know Sophie.
27:03I literally started crying because I found it so sweet.
27:06Speaking of people being sweet, John is so sweet, bless him.
27:11He's just so nice and he's so sweet, even though he can't make his wife orgasm.
27:18Bless his heart.
27:20Speaking of orgasms, this is like one of those connect games.
27:25Speaking of orgasms, the whole Sophie getting aroused after that moment with Benedict was mental.
27:34Sophie?
27:36Oh my god, girl.
27:39I think that's the first time we've seen masturbation in Bridgerton.
27:45Also, Violet.
27:46Get it, girl.
27:47You know, I said I don't really have many emotions about her romance storyline.
27:52And I don't.
27:53It doesn't really bother.
27:54Like, I'm not offended.
27:56But I'm also not excited by it.
27:58But Violet, in that little corset get-up with the thing hanging over her shoulder in the bedroom.
28:05Get it, girl.
28:06Mama.
28:07Ooh, Mama.
28:08Speaking of mamas.
28:10Michaela is back.
28:12Michaela is back.
28:13I was wondering if we'd see Michaela at all this season.
28:16I was starting to think that we wouldn't and it would just be Francesca and John dealing with their vanilla sex life.
28:22But Michaela is here and I'm assuming she's going to be staying throughout the second half of the season.
28:29So that's going to be very interesting to see Michaela in there and to understand the dynamic of why John said that they kept their distance from each other in Scotland.
28:41So there are all the notes that I made besides sort of the ending.
28:47I think I was just sort of engrossed and I didn't really write anything down.
28:50But the episode was called An Offer from a Gentleman, which is the title of the book.
28:55And the offer from a gentleman obviously being Be My Mistress.
28:59So that whole, to be honest, all of their scenes, like her accidentally spilling the tea on him, her telling him he needs to get out the house otherwise she can't stay there.
29:09The tension is killing me.
29:10The tension between them is killing me and I'm loving, loving their dynamic and their chemistry.
29:17And yeah, that scene where he goes to find her in the servants' quarters, which was pretty brazen considering I'm assuming he didn't know that all the servants had been dismissed for the night.
29:28But that moment on the stairs was crazy.
29:32Yeah, yeah, really, really crazy.
29:35The Bridgerton brothers love a bit of hand action.
29:43The Fingerton brothers.
29:46And then we got through all of that.
29:47And as I say, we get the offer from a gentleman where he asks her to be his mistress.
29:55He's going to be my mistress.
29:58Yeah, they did set up in, I think it was the previous episode.
30:03It might have been in episode two.
30:06I think it was three, where they showed the flashback of Sophie's father's funeral.
30:11And Araminta explaining that her mum was a maid and she was the mistress of her father.
30:18And as a result of this, that's why Sophie refuses to be a mistress.
30:23That hasn't been sort of explicitly stated in the show, in the book.
30:27That's her sort of mentality behind it, is like she doesn't want to repeat what her mother did and she doesn't want to be Benedict's mistress.
30:35But, oh God, so good.
30:37So good.
30:38I think it was pretty much bang on my expectation.
30:41I'm surprised at how book accurate I felt it was.
30:46Not that I was expecting it to be a hugely, but Bridgerton isn't one of those shows that I think really has to or has much obligation to stay true to the book adaptation of it.
30:59I actually really feel like this has been, and I've been loving it.
31:04The tension, like I say, has just been top, top notch.
31:08Yeah, I've loved all of the screen time that the Bridgetons have got.
31:13I do miss Kate and Anthony.
31:14In the sort of little advert for part two that came up at the end, we did see that Kate and Anthony are going to be back.
31:20I guess, what are we expecting from the second half of the season?
31:24More tension, I guess, is going to brew between Benedict and Sophie.
31:28Eventually, Benedict will work out that Sophie and the masked woman are one in the same.
31:33We're likely going to have this sort of Araminta fallout where she discovers Sophie is the maid at the Bridgerton house.
31:39Gets her, well actually I won't ruin it for the people who didn't want spoilers and didn't watch my other Bridgerton book video.
31:46So yeah, I'm excited to see Kate and Anthony and their little baby.
31:50I'm really excited to see the tension start brewing between Francesca and Michaela and the John situation.
31:58Maybe it's going to be that Francesca does finally reach her pinnacle, but it's going to be because she's like thinking about Michaela or something.
32:08I think this sort of inner conflict and feeling of being lost is going to keep building within Eloise to the point where at the end of the season,
32:18perhaps it will be setting up Eloise sort of leaving to find herself.
32:24In the books, Eloise, because Colin and Benedict's stories are the other way around in the book,
32:30Benedict gets married long before Colin marries Penelope,
32:33and what makes Eloise sort of want to run away into her love story is because she's supposed to be a spinster with Penelope,
32:41but then Penelope gets married to Colin and so she feels alone.
32:44Obviously they had to change that because they swapped Colin and Benedict around,
32:49but I feel like this is almost deeper the way they're doing it in the show,
32:52this feeling of her being lost, like it's not just a sudden, oh Penelope's married now, I'm on my own,
32:59it's this sort of gradual build-up of like, I'll run away to Scotland, but she ran away to Scotland
33:04and she didn't, I guess, feel as much contentment from it as she expected that she would,
33:09and now she's back with her family, but she's the outcast because she's the unmarried one between her sister and her friends,
33:14and then her single sister sort of starting to resent her and her negativity and her cynicism too.
33:22I love where they're taking Eloise to set her up for her season.
33:25I'd be really shocked now at this point if Eloise is not next.
33:29I'll be interested to see if they set Eloise up more beyond just her feeling like an outcast.
33:37I wonder if they will set up anything with death and letter writing.
33:43Let's just leave it at that before the end of this season.
33:46I hate that we have to wait until the end of February, but I really, really loved that.
33:50I really, really loved the first four episodes.
33:52They were exactly what I wanted.
33:54They gave me the feeling that I love from Bridgerton generally,
33:58but the reason I was so excited for season four was because of the feeling I had when reading Benedict and Sophie's book,
34:06and that real fairytale whimsy magic from the Cinderella story,
34:11and I really do feel like it transferred perfectly on screen because I really, really felt it watching those episodes.
34:18I feel depleted. I feel depleted. I feel like my brain has a lot in it.
34:24My brain feels very, very heavy and full and achy,
34:28so I'm just going to kind of think back on it, I guess, over the coming month,
34:32and we will talk about Bridgerton again when the second half of season four drops.
34:38I bid you adieu for today.
34:41I burn for you.
34:42Goodbye.
