00:02Some Americans ages 50 and over are returning to work after retiring as higher living costs
00:07strain household finances, according to CNBC. A new AARP survey found 7% of retirees re-entered
00:14the labor force in the past six months, up from 6% in summer 2025. Of those unretiring,
00:2148% cited financial necessity or a poor economic outlook, while others pointed to boredom or a
00:26desire to stay active. Among older adults working or seeking work, 41% said daily living costs were
00:33their main motivation. The survey also showed labor market challenges, with 67% saying it would be
00:39difficult to find a job and 24% worried about losing their job within a year. AARP said inflation,
00:46market volatility, and limited returns on retirement income are driving the trend.
