00:00Let's head to another team that seems to be disappointing, especially after a good start, and that's the Alabama Crimson Tide.
00:07Alabama has now fallen out of the top 25, and this isn't about talent, folks.
00:12It's about identity erosion.
00:15This 25-26 Crimson Tide team looks nothing like the high-octane Alabama squads we're used to seeing.
00:23Think about this, folks.
00:24You know, when you look at Alabama, and I know LeBaron Phylon and Aiden Holloway are fantastic, but Mark Sears is one of the greatest players in the history of this program.
00:33He's not there.
00:34Grant Nelson was an outstanding stretch four.
00:37He's not there.
00:38Cliff Amore was obviously a rip protector and transfer.
00:43He's not there.
00:44DOR, transfer.
00:45So this is not the team that we had last year, even though they got off to a good start.
00:51But the numbers tell the story.
00:54Alabama's three-point shooting has dipped below 33%, a major issue for a team that spaces the floor and lives off of volume shooting.
01:02Worser turning the ball at nearly 19% of their possession.
01:06That's literally one out of five, which is one of the worst marks in power conference basketball.
01:12That combination, missed threes plus turnovers, kill momentum and close games.
01:18Defensively, they're still aggressive, but that aggression has become a double-edged sword.
01:23They're forcing turnovers, but also allowing a lot of free throws and easy paint touches.
01:29In transition defense, Alabama struggled badly, giving what we call runouts, which is just fast-rank opportunities, especially after missed threes.
01:37You know the phrase, long shot, long rebound, runouts.
01:40Looking at Alabama, still very much NCAA tournament bubble right now, but the margin for error is now gone.
01:47To climb back, they need better shot selection, more structure late in games, and defensive discipline instead of chaos.
01:54The talent says tournament team.
01:55The results stay fringe.
01:57Alabama didn't fall out of the top 25.
02:00They shot themselves out.
02:01And if the threes don't fall soon, this team's ceiling is the first four.
