00:00Please make some noise for your moderator, Jeff Johnson.
00:16That was horrible.
00:19That was what?
00:20You want to get more energy than that?
00:22We need to do this again.
00:24We need to do this again.
00:26That shit was terrible.
00:27Let's do it again.
00:28I'm not coming out to that.
00:29Ladies and gentlemen, he came all the way to New Orleans, Louisiana.
00:34We back outside.
00:36We are here to have fun.
00:38We here to talk lifestyle, some culture, some sneakers.
00:41Ladies and gentlemen, make some noise for your moderator, Jeff Johnson.
00:52What's up, y'all?
00:53We're getting ready to have a good time.
00:55How many of you all like sneakers?
00:58Yep, nope.
01:01How many of y'all love sneakers?
01:03How many of y'all killed somebody?
01:05Never mind.
01:05So we're going to have a conversation about the culture, what sneakers mean to us, what it means to our panel, what it means to the culture, where they've gone, where they're going, what they mean to us from a perspective of fashion, what they mean to us, even as we talk about money and investment.
01:26And I'm excited about the brothers that are coming, and I'm going to introduce them really quickly.
01:30Y'all got Google, so you can get their whole bios.
01:33We're not going to do that.
01:33But many of you have watched this brother on Starz.
01:39I want you to give a big round of applause for my brother, Meech.
01:42How you doing, everybody?
01:54Some of you have seen this brother on TV.
01:56Some of you heard him on the radio.
01:58I credit this brother with me ever even being on TV.
02:04This is my big brother.
02:06Give it up for a big ticket.
02:07And everybody knows this brother.
02:24He's been from 106 in Park to Hollywood.
02:27Give it up for Terrence Jade.
02:37What's up, y'all?
02:39What's happening?
02:40It's good to see y'all.
02:41Can we just make a noise, a joyful sound for everyone one time?
02:45One, two, three.
02:48Now I feel like I'm on.
02:49Tigg, let him moderate the panel.
02:51This is Jeff's panel.
02:52Sorry, he said what's up.
02:53Tigg, come in, start doing the thing.
02:55Let Jeff do the panel.
02:55That's what OGs do.
02:56Man, come in.
02:57That's what OGs do.
02:58That's what OGs do.
03:00So, so listen.
03:01Tigg came to my birthday and started blowing out the cake.
03:03I was like, Tigg, let me blow out my own cake.
03:06What are you doing now?
03:07Exactly.
03:09All right, y'all.
03:09So, check.
03:10My question for you right off the top is, what is the first sneaker that was bigger than shoes for you?
03:20What's the first sneaker that was bigger than shoes for you?
03:24Tigg.
03:25All right.
03:25So, you're going to go to the old dude first.
03:27All right.
03:27So, it was two.
03:32There was the Adidas that Run DMC was wearing with no laces, which is the superstar.
03:39That and the Puma Clyde, where everybody had them in suede with the fat laces.
03:43Like, those, like, you couldn't even show up the first day of school without either pair of shoes.
03:49It wasn't, Nike wasn't even a conversation just yet.
03:52It was Adidas and it was Puma.
03:55That's all everybody wore in the neighborhood.
03:57That was it.
03:58And I had the gray joints with the white stripe, the Puma, the suede joints, and then I had the white super, the regular Run DMC with the black stripe.
04:07I was straight.
04:09Meej, what about you?
04:10Well, you know, I was born in 2000, so.
04:14That's what we know of?
04:17I was wearing retros and Jordans and shit.
04:20I ain't had none of them.
04:22Retros?
04:23Yeah.
04:25Yo, I feel so old right now.
04:26Probably the Jordan 1, the breads, like that black and red colorway.
04:33It was just, it was insane.
04:35I remember seeing a kid jump onto the school bus with those and it just changed my outlook on sneakers.
04:41I was like, I got to get those.
04:43And that started my love.
04:44And so for each of you all, when did it go from something you liked to either a passion or a, let me ask this.
04:53Sneakers for you, passion or problem?
04:56A passionate problem.
05:02So, I think like, by the time you got to high school, you had to have more than one pair of sneakers.
05:09So, my father only gave me like, this much money for back to school shopping.
05:15He was like, you want more than this, you're going to have to get a job.
05:17So, of course, I went and got a job.
05:19And all I wanted to do was have multiple pairs of sneakers.
05:22Fast forward to BET Rap City.
05:26Thank God that the show was what it was.
05:31I literally had a new pair of sneakers for every show.
05:36They brought a box down every day and it was like, do you want this one, this one, this one?
05:40I was like, that one.
05:41But I really want that one.
05:42It was like, you ain't wear them yet.
05:43And I was like, no, I want those now.
05:45And they were like, no, you ain't wear them yet.
05:46So, I mean, most of my collection, which you can see behind you over there, my collection is behind you where I see the gallery.
05:52A lot of that came from the BET Rap City days because literally for six years, they brought a new pair of sneaker down every day.
06:02And I was so excited.
06:03It was like, yes.
06:04And then Terrence comes into the building.
06:06He's like, how come I ain't get those?
06:09Well, I would just steal them from his dressing room.
06:11I would just, I came in right, so Tig is my mentor.
06:15And so, like, the first, like, I would say two years, we were still, like, kind of in the building at the same time.
06:21And he had all the sneaker contacts.
06:24So, all those boxes he was talking about, me and Fred would just, like, go to his room because we were the same size.
06:29So, I would just steal his shoes.
06:30I would just literally take boxes out of his room until I got the plugs.
06:35And then after that, I started getting, they had to start sending two pairs because I would steal from Tig.
06:40Yeah, and Cousin Jeff got none.
06:45Thank you, Tig.
06:46I'm sorry.
06:47They didn't really show feet on your show.
06:49I was on his show.
06:51Camera, like, I'm on his show.
06:53But it became a passionate problem when, even when I didn't get the pairs that I wanted,
07:00I would make sure I had to go get them.
07:02Like, if, you know, like, the market, like, they used to send them and then they had cutbacks so they wasn't sending as many.
07:08And I was like, I'm saying.
07:10And they was like, mmm.
07:11And I would still find ways.
07:12You got to find the plug.
07:14You got to find somebody you know.
07:15Some way, before it was ever StockX and Goat and all of that and you could buy them on a marketplace,
07:20you had to know somebody.
07:22You had to find out.
07:23I was never the stand outside, sleep outside type of person.
07:26But I would always be like, you know what I'm saying, I got $50 for you if you make sure I get the sneakers that I need.
07:34So it was always a way to find it.
07:36That's when it became a passionate problem.
07:38Over there, I think, is 44 examples of a collection that's over 1,000 sneakers.
07:44I have a room in my house that is affectionately known as the sneaker room.
07:49And I have 1,000 plus sneakers and it's only like 40 pair back there.
07:53So it's definitely a passionate problem.
07:55Meech, what about you, bro?
07:56When I was in school, me and my homies just loved getting all the shoes early.
08:00So it became a passion for me when I never liked wearing the same things two and three times over and over.
08:06So me and my homies always used to try and get all the shoes two weeks and three weeks before they came out.
08:11So we would be the only ones in school with the first shoes on.
08:15So it really just became a passion once I really started having the love for the Jordans and getting the love for having stuff first.
08:22And I think that's clear, right?
08:24And nobody in this room is confused that Jordans changed sneakers and changed them forever.
08:30So nobody's confused about that.
08:32For me, what I'm interested in is as you think about where we are now, what about the sneaker culture has you most excited?
08:40And who has you most excited?
08:48Excited.
08:49Not really that excited.
08:50There was a wave.
08:55There was like a 10-year period when the exclusive drops were the exclusive drops.
09:00And if you ain't get them, you ain't get them.
09:03And then the marketplace and the aftermarket, the people who sell them, the aftersellers, to a lot of us OGs, they kind of took the fun out of it.
09:16Because they're not in it for the sneaker.
09:17They're not in it for the love and the you ain't got these.
09:21They're in it to sell them.
09:22And they've taken up a lot of the inventory.
09:26They ain't even planning to wear.
09:28A lot of us want to wear these joints.
09:30We be like, I don't want to rock those.
09:31I want to come to Essence.
09:33I want to sit on stage with everybody.
09:34Be like, what's them?
09:35So I'm not excited as I was.
09:38But I still see the value in it.
09:42I still buy them.
09:43I still wear mine.
09:44This is a group in Atlanta, ATATF.
09:47They have this whole hashtag, WIFS, which is wear your shoes.
09:54Because the whole aftermarket thing is taking a lot of the love out of the culture.
09:59It's more about the financial.
10:00But I can't be mad.
10:01It's a good hustle.
10:03At the same time, I wish it went back to I just want to wear them to wear them.
10:06This is my individual show out.
10:09You ain't got these.
10:10And Terrence, with that, how do you feel about the collabs?
10:15Because as you're talking about what's not happening anymore, it's collab after collab after collab.
10:21How do you feel about that?
10:23Is it really adding value to the culture?
10:26Or is this hit and miss?
10:28Because it depends on who's doing what with who.
10:31Yeah.
10:31Yeah, I love collabs.
10:33So it depends on which one.
10:34You have incredible collabs.
10:36It's like what Virgil did for Nike in general, right?
10:40And all of his different collaborations with his sneakers.
10:44I think sometimes what happens is they get greedy and the company or the corporate infrastructure
10:49will just keep on pushing a collab to the point where you're over it.
10:53You know what I'm saying?
10:54So there was a point of which when a pair of Yeezys dropped, you was like, yo, I got to get these Zebra Yeezys.
11:02I got to get whatever it is.
11:03But then, you know, by the time Adidas will do the third iteration of a re-release, it just takes all the steam out of it.
11:12And you're not excited.
11:13And now it's like there's really no shoes right now, like you were saying, that will get me super excited.
11:19Because now there's just such a resale market that it just really takes like a couple key sneakers a year that really make things, you know, interesting.
11:27Meech, what about you?
11:29What is the, what's the shoe in your collection that no matter what, can't nobody buy it off you?
11:37Rest in peace, Virgil.
11:39But Virgil, just like what Taryn said, off-white.
11:42And his Louis Vuitton collab, it's like legendary.
11:45Number one, he's African-American.
11:47Number two, just his creativity and how his eye for different details, different things, I feel like makes a shoe like, you know, just legendary.
11:56And I always go to his Air Force Ones, you know, whether it's not the Louis Vuitton one, but the first one he made, you know, where it's the all-white ones, the all-black ones.
12:04He just knows how to take our, our culture's shoes and just, you know, put his own twist on it and makes it crazy.
12:12So I, his, his, his shoes are my first shoes to go to off-bat.
12:16Tigger, what's the shoe in your collection that no matter what you offer?
12:21Most of them are for sale.
12:23But, uh, back there in that case is a one of 25 shoe.
12:30For the 25th anniversary of Air Force One, I was lucky enough to be one of 25 people who got a custom crocodile Air Force One and had my name embroidered on the inside.
12:43Uh, it's in that case back there.
12:46I've worn them.
12:46I only used to, I used to pull them out once a year for All-Star.
12:49Like, I was like, oh, just my All-Star came up because only, there's only 24 other people who got these.
12:54Um, so that's the shoe I probably would never sell.
12:58I, I really cherish that only, I mean, there's only 25 of them and my name is in it.
13:02I know Fat Joe has one.
13:04I can't even remember who else has one, but I, I really love that.
13:07So it's a crocodile and if you go back there, you can check it out.
13:10Aaron, you.
13:10I got a pair of, uh, Red Yeezy, uh, Red Octobers.
13:14Red Octobers, uh, you soldiers, how much you get?
13:17So, wow.
13:19Yeah.
13:1922.
13:20Wow.
13:22Um, well, damn, I need to sell mine.
13:26Yeah, but for now, those are my favorite, but I might sell them right after this show.
13:31So, so let me ask you all this because even, even with everything you all are saying, we're
13:37talking about something that went for something that was just about the love of the culture to
13:41something that was about business.
13:42And so how has, how have you shifted even that love to a business?
13:50And I'm, I'm curious, like how, how many of you all are in the sneaker investment business,
13:56not just the sneaker collection business?
13:59Well, I'll say, uh, keep it a buck during the pandemic.
14:02That was my side hustle.
14:04I had, I had 1500 sneakers.
14:06I have sold 430 something odd pairs of sneakers starting at the beginning of the pandemic.
14:13Everybody's pockets slowed down.
14:15Everybody's pockets shrunk.
14:16I had some rare pieces.
14:18One dude flew down from New York to Atlanta with 27 bands in a book bag.
14:23We met him at, in the airport.
14:26We went to IHOP.
14:27We sat in the booth.
14:28I had gave him my, um, the, the red Octobus, the, uh, air mags, the joints that light up,
14:36the back to the futures and a pair of off white.
14:40I think like the first off white, the red, white, and black ones.
14:4327 bands.
14:43I was like, count the money.
14:46He went back on the plane.
14:47I went home.
14:48So, I mean, it became a, and then it became a hustle for me because I still had so many
14:54rare pairs that I was probably never going to wear.
14:57And I purposely didn't wear them.
14:59And I'm looking at some of these, these sites like StockX and GOAT.
15:02And I'm saying, man, I haven't worn, I've had these like 10 years and right now they're
15:08like 1200.
15:09So I was like, for certain people, I like it's, it's, it's, it's definitely a viable hustle.
15:14So that would be my evolution in it.
15:16I actually have seen, I'm not buying them just to sell them, but I have a bunch that
15:22I'm like, I'm never going to wear these, but they're worth money.
15:25And that's sometimes where the sneaker collecting thing becomes a, a, a beneficial thing for
15:30you financially.
15:31Let me ask you all this.
15:32Where do you see the greatest opportunity though?
15:34So we've seen all kinds of entrepreneurial opportunities in the sneaker world, whether it's
15:40cleaning shoes, whether it's warehousing shoes, whatever it is, what do you think is the next
15:46opportunity in the space?
15:47So if you've got people in here, like I'm a sneaker head, this is a place where I want
15:51to invest in business.
15:53Where's the place that you think is the next place people should be thinking about?
16:01Meech?
16:02Meech?
16:03I feel like if you want to start somewhere, probably should start the shoes that could
16:10potentially increase in value.
16:13Like I used to, like I said, when I was in high school and I used to get shoes, me and
16:17my homies, and I keep them in a couple months or a couple years or whatever.
16:21I see the shoe and it'll be worth double or triple or I know I bought the shoe for a couple
16:26of thousand.
16:27It's damn near worth 10,000.
16:28So it's like shoes, you've got to start somewhere in order to go somewhere.
16:32So I feel like if people just start getting shoes that could potentially hold a lot of
16:36value and start them, the shoes could go increasingly however much because shoes now 10,000, 20,000.
16:43Like I had the easiest, Terrence J was talking about the all red ones.
16:46I bought them for like 1,500.
16:48Now they're like 6,000, 7,000.
16:49You can't find them nowhere.
16:51Less than 6,000, 7,000.
16:52They could be used, new, it don't matter how old they are as long as somebody can wear them.
16:56I would say, and this is a good rule of thumb with any business venture, find a common issue
17:02that's not being addressed and address that issue.
17:05If, I don't know if it's, you know, laces, custom laces was a thing for a minute.
17:09You know, they got the things where you protect the bottom or if you find a way, a better way
17:15to stop the clear soles on Jordans from turning yellow, y'all feel me, if you find an easier way to fix that
17:23or another way to fix that, any common issue with the sneaker, whether it be soles, cleaning them,
17:30keeping them clean, if you address that issue, a common problem, it's a layup.
17:34Yeah, for me, I used to kind of look at it as a business.
17:39Now, I just, every shoe I get, I just wear it.
17:41Like, I just, I love sneakers so much.
17:44Like, shorty over there got the Jordan, the Dunk Lows, Carolina Blue.
17:48I'm like, man, I'm about to go home.
17:49She walking with him right now.
17:50I'm about to, she heard me talking about it, so she just decided to leave.
17:54She's like, you know what?
17:55Let me just get up out of here.
17:56Try to decide to check.
17:56I want to wear those as soon as I get home.
17:59Like, so, I just, I can't help myself.
18:01Like, if I love a shoe, it's going to be in my life, and I'm going to wear it.
18:04I'm not good at, like, holding and selling, and I'm horrible at that.
18:09So, how many animators are in here?
18:11Any animators?
18:13I don't know why we haven't seen an animated cartoon movie or show about kicks.
18:20Like, I just don't get it.
18:21Like, it would immediately win, and whether you get the licensing
18:25on the manufacturer's side, or whether you just make up some stuff.
18:30Like, whoever is an animator in here, I want y'all to hurry up
18:33and get some IP around something called kicks,
18:37because there should be a cartoon about sneakers
18:41that kids will watch, and you have a hell of a lot of product to sell
18:45on the other end of it, whether you create it,
18:47whether you're using existing shoes, or whether you create new brands.
18:51Well, we've seen recently some evolution,
18:54the impact of sneaker culture.
18:56We had Sneakerella on Disney.
18:59We had, there was a movie that wasn't highly popularized.
19:02It was shot in L.A. It was called Kicks.
19:04And it was a really dope movie.
19:06And it was about this kid who got these Jordans
19:09and got beat up for the Jordans.
19:11And it was a whole thing of how important
19:13and how these sneakers changed his life
19:15and how he viewed himself.
19:17And if you haven't seen it, it's called Kicks.
19:19You might want to check it out.
19:20But there are lots of different ways.
19:21I mean, P.J. Tucker is out there on the court
19:26in NBA games playing at 2,500, 3,000 pairs of sneaker.
19:31Like, it's crazy.
19:32And he's doing it just for the love.
19:34He's not, like, he's kind of showing off,
19:36but it's also dope that he's out there
19:39using a basketball shoe for what it's made for,
19:41even though it's worth, like, $5,000.
19:43So, on the basketball side with that,
19:46who's the next player whose shoe is going to be valuable?
19:53Terrence.
19:54I mean, that's a tough one.
19:58I mean, I really thought Zion was going to have,
20:01like, he got to get healthy.
20:03I think if Zion, what happened?
20:05He got to play.
20:06Yeah, he's got to play.
20:07But he has the charisma.
20:08Every so often, there's just a player with the charisma.
20:12I feel like he's, like, the youngest in that group.
20:16Mellow.
20:16Mellow got a lot of charisma.
20:18I feel like if he can really connect,
20:20have a really good season this upcoming season
20:22in Charlotte and do what he needs to do,
20:24I feel like he can, he can,
20:26I'm trying to think of who else.
20:28Jason Tatum is dope.
20:29But, again, he's a baller.
20:32Like, Jason Tatum and even Booker,
20:35like, super ballers.
20:36But there's just still a...
20:38It's like the Steph thing.
20:40Yeah, exactly, exactly.
20:42There's just certain people that people will buy from,
20:45and then there's certain people they won't.
20:46And it's not about the talent.
20:47It's not about the skill set, in my opinion.
20:50It's just the it factor when it comes to that.
20:53What do you think?
20:53Yeah, I think it has to do with influence, too.
20:55Like, Stephen Curry, LeBron, KD, like, Kobe.
20:59All them was big influencers.
21:01Everybody wants to be like them
21:02or look up to them when they're playing basketball.
21:04So, definitely somebody that's growing up
21:07that everybody can look up to and want to be like.
21:10And the shoe got to look good, too, I think, too.
21:12You can't just have a name.
21:14Like, Kobe's actually look good.
21:15LeBron's look good.
21:16And KD's look good.
21:18So, as long as I feel like you have a good shoe
21:19and you're upcoming and people can look up to you
21:21and they respect you, they're fine.
21:23What about Morant?
21:25You're stealing my answer.
21:26John Morant.
21:31If he stays healthy and continues,
21:34he ain't got to go much higher.
21:36If he stays right here, John Morant has charisma.
21:40He jumps out the gym.
21:41He will dunk on you.
21:42He will cross you up.
21:44And that's all that needs to,
21:45that's all you need to sell a sneaker
21:47to a young kid who wants to play ball.
21:49It's the active, you get, oh,
21:51I'm going to do you like John the Joss.
21:53You know, I'm going to Kobe you and the mama.
21:55So, John Morant, in my opinion,
21:57is the next big, if he gets a shoe,
21:59the next person to have a shoe.
22:00But branching off of that,
22:02what I love about where sneaker culture is today
22:04is it's not even just, like, athletes.
22:07Like, I feel like there's so many interesting people
22:10that have, you know, sneakers or brands
22:13that's coming out.
22:13Right now, I love what Puma is doing,
22:16what Emory and Roc Nation and those guys
22:18are doing for Puma is incredible.
22:20Obviously, what Yeezy and his whole team
22:22and their infrastructure is doing
22:24for Adidas.
22:26And there's just, you know,
22:27what's his name, Celine Bunbury,
22:32something like that,
22:32who got the interesting croc.
22:34I love his crocs.
22:35I love kit.
22:36I love what kit has been doing with sneakers.
22:39I love, like,
22:39I just love, like,
22:40all these interesting stories
22:42that are being told through shoes nowadays.
22:44And even, like, you know,
22:45Louis Vuitton having trainers.
22:47Like, these didn't exist.
22:49You know, 10 years ago,
22:50you couldn't have a pair of, you know,
22:52Louis Vuitton trainers like that
22:53curated by Virgil.
22:55Like, the game has just kind of changed,
22:56so it's not just athletes
22:58and not just coming from one place,
23:00but you can find really dope
23:01and interesting sneakers
23:02that tell a story
23:03coming from a lot of different avenues.
23:05Well, and let's build on that, Ted,
23:07because you think about these sneakers
23:09that, for hardcore, purist sneakerheads,
23:13are legitimate,
23:15and then you've got a whole nother line
23:17of luxury sneakers.
23:19And I'm curious about
23:21what's the difference between,
23:23like, what are the two or three things
23:24that define you as a sneakerhead
23:26versus a cat that can just buy expensive sneakers?
23:29Well, they call them hypebeasts.
23:31The hypebeasts just buy whatever they think is hot
23:33or whatever the public says is hot.
23:35They just, you know,
23:36it's not really,
23:37it is a love of it,
23:38don't get me wrong.
23:40The hypebeasts just has whatever's popping.
23:42If you're a sneakerhead,
23:43you wear what you like.
23:45You don't give a damn
23:46if anybody else like them.
23:48I mean, who had ever thought
23:50that Nike would have done
23:51something with Christian Dior?
23:54You know what I'm saying?
23:54Who would have ever thought
23:55Adidas would have did something
23:57with Gucci and Balenciaga?
23:59Who would have thought
23:59that Virgil would have did
24:00what Virgil did?
24:01So it's really a matter of a taste.
24:04You should wear what you wear
24:05because you want to wear it.
24:06That's your form of,
24:07sneakers is one of the highest forms
24:09of personal expression
24:10that you can have.
24:12Like, you finish your fit
24:15or design your fit around your shoe.
24:18You start,
24:19many,
24:19I'm running out,
24:20get up and be like,
24:21hmm,
24:23what I'm wearing.
24:24And then,
24:25I pick the shoe
24:26and the outfit come after that.
24:28I picked these out this morning.
24:29I was like,
24:29what am I going to wear with it?
24:30Let me find something.
24:31You know what I'm saying?
24:32You got to,
24:32I start with my shoe.
24:34That's how important it is to me.
24:36What's the shoe you don't have
24:38that you want?
24:41Meech?
24:42I want them Air Mags though,
24:48the one you was talking about.
24:50The Air Mags.
24:51I used to always want them in school.
24:53It was $10,000
24:54when I was in school though.
24:57And my mom was getting them for me.
24:59So I still kind of want them,
25:01but they,
25:01they got to know what to wear with them.
25:03But they still like $15,000,
25:04$20,000.
25:05So they still something
25:07I wouldn't buy right now.
25:09But it's still like,
25:10if I can get them for free,
25:11I'll get them.
25:14I really wanted those last
25:17Louis Vuitton Air Forces
25:19that they put out.
25:21I didn't even get a sniff at them joints.
25:24Like,
25:24I didn't even know who to call.
25:28I was like,
25:28yo,
25:28I want them so bad.
25:31I did want the Dior Jordans.
25:35And I did want those,
25:36those are,
25:36I would say,
25:37probably the top two
25:38that I didn't get.
25:39Those last Louis Vuitton Air Force,
25:41I mean,
25:42those were,
25:42those were mean.
25:43Yeah,
25:44all of those were tough.
25:45I didn't get the Ben and Jerry's.
25:46I should have got them.
25:47And now they just had a,
25:48had a crazy,
25:50but I still might get those.
25:51But the Dior Air Force ones,
25:54crazy.
25:55And yeah,
25:56that,
25:56that list,
25:56and I knew Virgil,
25:58and I still,
25:59I was like,
25:59yo,
26:00I'm not,
26:00I wasn't on that list.
26:01That was a good list.
26:02And some good colorways,
26:04some strong colorways.
26:05And as y'all think about the future,
26:06right?
26:07Because we talk about Virgil,
26:08we talk about other collabs,
26:10we talk about kind of the traditional pieces.
26:13It's a lot of young'uns out here
26:14designing dope shit.
26:16But because they're not connected
26:17to the right brand,
26:18or because they're not connected
26:20to the right fashion house,
26:21nobody will ever see their stuff,
26:23and in some cases,
26:24nobody will ever buy it.
26:25Is there a place where
26:27you all see a future
26:29where it doesn't matter
26:30what the brand is,
26:31it doesn't matter
26:31who they're connected to,
26:33and we're going to see
26:33a whole nother wave?
26:35I think to your point,
26:36Tig,
26:37where people can start
26:38being excited
26:38because it's not about
26:40what brand is connected to,
26:41it's just how dope
26:42is the sneaker.
26:43Is that even possible
26:43in this market?
26:45It's not impossible,
26:46but I think first and foremost,
26:48there's a prestige
26:49that comes around
26:50with certain brands.
26:51Michael Jordan's a brand.
26:53Yeezy's a brand.
26:55Puma's a brand.
26:57So you have these things
26:58that it's just how
26:59it's perceived
27:00by everyone else.
27:02That being said,
27:03I've seen more different
27:03brands of sneakers
27:04in the last five years
27:06than I've ever seen,
27:07and I've seen people
27:08wear them.
27:10Under Armour came out
27:11of nowhere
27:11and took a fairly
27:14large market share.
27:16They may not be necessarily
27:17popping in the hood,
27:18but I tell you what,
27:19outside the hood,
27:20Under Armour is
27:21killing them.
27:23So, I mean,
27:24it's about identifying,
27:26like I said,
27:27what the hole
27:28in the market is,
27:30and the kids
27:31that are coming up now
27:32that are going to be
27:33future designers
27:33will have reference points
27:35like Air Force Ones,
27:37Jays,
27:38you know,
27:38like Yeezys and stuff,
27:40but their generation,
27:41much like the generation
27:42below us,
27:42is going to be
27:43completely different,
27:44and what they really love
27:45might be some off-brand.
27:47I mean,
27:47think about those Yeezy,
27:48what the Yeezy
27:49foam joints are.
27:50They look like alien feet.
27:52They're comfortable
27:52as hell.
27:54I would have never thought
27:55that that would be
27:56a popular thing,
27:57but it is.
28:00Terrence?
28:01Nah, same.
28:02You know,
28:02I think right now
28:03it really just depends
28:04on the shoe
28:05and how it's worn
28:07and who's wearing it.
28:08You know what I'm saying?
28:08I think the game
28:10has definitely changed
28:10from being so brand-heavy
28:12because now there's
28:13so many different collabs.
28:15There's so many
28:15different people doing it.
28:16I'll rock a pair of vapes.
28:18I'll rock a pair of,
28:19you know,
28:20chucks.
28:21It really just depends
28:22on what it is.
28:23And, like,
28:24I get inspired.
28:26Like, when I see
28:26somebody's fit
28:27and then I look like,
28:28I'm like, yo,
28:28I'm about to buy
28:29some black Air Force Ones.
28:30Like, when I saw
28:30Meech walk with the fit,
28:31I was like, oh,
28:32that's a clean fit
28:32the way he did it.
28:33You know what
28:33black Air Force Ones mean.
28:35What happened?
28:35What?
28:36Sneakerheads know
28:37what black Air Force Ones mean.
28:39It means we're about
28:40to start fighting.
28:43See somebody walk in
28:44with all black Air Force Ones
28:45go the other way.
28:46Except for me.
28:47I love Air Force Ones.
28:49I've worn black ones
28:50ever since I was a kid,
28:52black and white ones.
28:53But I feel like, too,
28:54like, the influence
28:54has a lot to do with
28:56what type of shoe
28:58people want
28:58and what people want to buy
29:00because if you see
29:01somebody that,
29:02you see some shoe
29:03that you've never seen before
29:04and see somebody
29:05that you like wearing
29:06that you're going
29:07to want to wear
29:07and it's not all about
29:09just the collabs
29:10and everything
29:11because there's so many
29:11collabs nowadays
29:12that you could like
29:13anything, any type of shoe.
29:15But I feel like
29:16if you start just seeing it
29:18and seeing a lot of people
29:19wearing it,
29:21you'll want it.
29:23What's the shoe
29:24you would create?
29:26So if, whether,
29:27whether it's a collab
29:28or whether it's a,
29:29it's a, it's a,
29:30it's a brand
29:31that you think
29:32should do this.
29:33Like, if you could
29:34create the shoe,
29:35if it's the Meech,
29:35if it's the Tig,
29:36if it's the Terrence J,
29:38who's the brand
29:39you're going with
29:40and who do you want
29:41to design it?
29:43Terrence is ready.
29:44I would have tried
29:45to do what Virgil did.
29:46I can't even lie.
29:47I would have went
29:48right for the Air Force One
29:49just because that's
29:50my favorite shoe,
29:51white or black.
29:52And he just made it.
29:54He made the mid tops.
29:55He made it to all
29:56the different colors.
29:57He like,
29:57he just went,
29:58that's something
29:59that I would love
29:59to do I feel like
30:00because the Air Force One
30:01is, everybody in the world
30:02love Air Force Ones.
30:03I ain't never seen
30:04anybody who don't.
30:07Terrence?
30:08Nah, you know,
30:09Terrence?
30:09I'm, I'm Air Force One
30:11all day long.
30:12Like, I, like,
30:13I'll go to, you know,
30:14whatever store
30:15and buy, you know,
30:16five, ten pairs
30:17of white ones
30:18because I,
30:19especially if they
30:19in stock
30:20and you can find them,
30:21I wear, I wear
30:22white Air Force Ones
30:22almost every day
30:23of the week.
30:24So it's like,
30:25if, if not today,
30:26then, like,
30:26I'll have a pair on
30:27before the end
30:28of the day for sure.
30:29Or a pair of dunks,
30:30like, dunks too.
30:31Like, those are my go-tos.
30:32Low, low dunks
30:33and, and white wands.
30:37I don't know
30:38what the collab would be,
30:40but Jordan Fives
30:41and Sixers
30:42are my favorite.
30:43Like, favorite.
30:45I, like,
30:47if we could do
30:47some Rap City Sixers,
30:49that'd be crazy
30:51because Nick Cannon
30:51had some Wildin' Out Sixers
30:53and I almost fought him.
30:55I was like,
30:55son,
30:56he had some Wildin' Out Sixers
30:58and I was like,
30:59you gotta be kidding me.
31:01They were Sevens?
31:02They,
31:02no, I think he got
31:03some Sixers too, bro.
31:05The Sevens?
31:07I'm still mad at him.
31:09Because he had his own one.
31:11So, I mean,
31:12I love Sixers and Fives,
31:14kind of my favorite sneaker.
31:15When the Fives came out,
31:16I was like,
31:17shh.
31:17And then the Sixers came out
31:19and then,
31:19I mean,
31:20those,
31:20that's my favorite two big.
31:21So, T,
31:22before we get out of here,
31:22I want to know,
31:23and everybody check out
31:24Tickets Collection in the back
31:26before you get out of here,
31:27but I want to know,
31:28how did you decide on those?
31:30I actually had to help.
31:33One of my friends,
31:34Envy,
31:35who's like another sneaker head,
31:36he helped me set up
31:38my StockX
31:38and my gold accounts.
31:41I was like,
31:42he's more of a sneaker head.
31:44I am a sneaker enthusiast
31:45at this point.
31:46Sneaker heads
31:47will go stand outside,
31:48they go to the ends
31:49of the earth
31:50to go get sneakers.
31:50Me,
31:51I make phone calls.
31:52So,
31:53I'm a sneaker enthusiast,
31:55but I asked him
31:56from a sneaker head perspective,
31:58what can we put out there
31:58that was,
31:59you know,
31:59rare air,
32:00so to speak.
32:01What can we put out there
32:02that would,
32:02people would be like,
32:03ooh,
32:03I ain't seen those
32:04or I ain't got those.
32:05So,
32:06I thought it was a good
32:07cross collection.
32:08We got some autographed ones.
32:10I got an autographed Jay-Z,
32:12the Reebok joint.
32:13I got an autographed LeBron James,
32:15his very first shoe.
32:16I got a,
32:17what else is up there?
32:19I got a Allen Iverson
32:20autographed questions.
32:23So,
32:23I mean,
32:23I got some rare.
32:24All those shoes
32:25are right back there
32:25right now?
32:26Yes.
32:26Terrence.
32:29I'm finna go see two.
32:30We got insurance.
32:32So,
32:33y'all,
32:33give it up for Meech,
32:34for Tig,
32:35for Terrence Jay.
32:36Please check out
32:38Tigg's collection.
32:40And,
