00:00We're going to get into all things global beauty, because don't forget, black beauty is not just here, it is all over, we know where the roots come from, so the conversations we've been waiting to have for quite a bit, and I want to start off with you, Caroline, because, Caroline, your story is a catch.
00:30What we've done here, what we've seen here, because it's not just this year, but the trajectory of years past, how important is that for you, and we can't forget the slogan all weekend, it's the best toy for me.
00:43Caroline, please, um, yeah, for the time, it's a lot of sleep, um, last night, this is a lot of sleep, um, well, first, thanks for having me.
00:55Um, this is bad, yes, but I mean, if I can't answer your question, right, but, since it's been around 50 years, and what it's been on a way for you, you know, to have taken over 50 years now, but what's been, the system in that time, has been the understanding that when you captivate that one, you captivate the community,
01:21because she's a CD-up, and she's a CD-up at a very same time, but she's not just a CD-up at a very same time, and she's a CD-up at a very same time, and she's a CD-up at a very same time.
01:41a whole concern in the community.
01:45And I've just started looking at the clients
01:47part of what I'm saying is that it's been
01:49to me for business.
01:51It's really difficult to have been committed
01:53to change the story of mine
01:55for all the kids who've done
01:57the work or so, which is a black woman.
02:00And I've seen that the clients
02:01are talking to us
02:02and the kids are talking to me for black women.
02:06So what I'll say to you is
02:07I don't think I'm going to live in your house
02:09either I don't think I'm going to live in the church
02:12or I don't think I'm going to live in your house.
02:16The idea is that
02:17the first one's saying that
02:18she's the kids in the community
02:20where she calls me
02:23result
02:24and so angry and confident
02:26for me to say it result
02:28will be early from the forefront of our life
02:30because all of us
02:32just want all of us to engage
02:33and if it's a exciting part of that
02:36that's even more important
02:37is yes, that's what we wanted to
02:39and then I'll relate to the festival
02:40but what's also what we want to understand
02:43is that we will also
02:45stand by and argue
02:47against the disparities
02:48that try to keep playing with
02:50a business journey
02:51or a prison
02:53or a business scene
02:56as famous and wasn't
02:57and nightmares
02:59nearly no stop
03:00but we hope that's like
03:01this may seem to be a system
03:03ever
03:04not because the issue
03:05is right
03:05and so we'll find that document
03:07and we'll also see
03:08these flags
03:10and see the barrier
03:11of those conversations
03:12so what does it have to do with this?
03:15But the history is accessible
03:16and it's been around
03:17for 27 years now
03:19and it's been in a line
03:21because you've never seen it
03:22and I hope you've never seen it
03:22and I hope you've never seen it
03:23over there
03:23and it's been in a year
03:24and you won't continue it
03:27and it's been in our personal
03:28support in my disability
03:29but here's why I've already done the festival
03:31because then what we want the opportunity
03:34to do is to use
03:35is to use the largest festival
03:37of the nation
03:38of our nationalities
03:39the largest festival
03:41of the nation
03:42of our nationalities
03:43not only festival
03:46but what we want the opportunity
03:49to do
03:50is what's the issue
03:52when we all be a friend
03:53everywhere
03:54and we all move on
03:55into our black stuff
03:56and our blacks
03:57anywhere
03:58and we'll see
03:58a family reunion
04:01that puts us back together
04:04no matter who you are
04:06in the black community
04:07is what's the issue
04:08the issue
04:09is the issue
04:10is the place
04:10where you saw
04:11and you don't have to do
04:12a black people
04:13to talk here
04:14but see
04:15the party
04:16is going to be
04:17somebody that is
04:18a 20% of the city
04:19so you start to get
04:21a little bit of a party
04:22that's the only
04:22day or the time
04:23that you're fighting
04:24before here
04:24and we'll not leave it together
04:26so that the politics
04:28of the culture
04:29and we need to get it
04:30and
04:31essentially up here
04:33you have all of these
04:33experiences
04:34where not a model
04:35as you go
04:36which one
04:36which means
04:37you hold up
04:38like us
04:38it's been a little
04:40new year
04:40and you know
04:40because you've spent
04:41their own passion
04:42and you're so long
04:42and you know
04:43that it's a great way
04:44and so how
04:45what happens
04:46is you
04:46what people think
04:47about
04:47so the things
04:48of the culture
04:49is my salvation
04:50and I'm getting
04:51as far as I'm trying
04:51right now
04:52so far
04:52as far as I'm getting
04:53as far as I'm
04:53expensive right now
04:54so I'll consider
04:55this to be a best
04:56day
04:57which is what I do
04:58and what they think
04:59of the opportunity
05:00to celebrate
05:01and refresh
05:02is that
05:03you're not
05:04you're not
05:04you're not
05:05you're not
05:05you're not
05:06you're not
05:06you're not
05:07you're not
05:08you're not
05:08you're not
05:09you're not
05:10you're not
05:10you're not
05:11you're not
05:11you're not
05:11you're not
05:12you're not
05:12you're not
05:13you're not
05:14perfectly said
05:15the part of
05:16community to me
05:17is always my
05:18favorite part
05:19you know
05:20everybody
05:20is around you
05:22is for you
05:23is with you
05:24and you get to
05:25interact with
05:26your people
05:27and so when we
05:28talk about the
05:28beauty part of
05:29global beauty
05:30I love that
05:31Seema is here
05:32with us
05:32because she
05:33she has
05:35she's the founder
05:36of the beauty
05:36brand
05:3654th world
05:37so I grew up
05:51in Texas
05:52far away
05:53from Africa
05:54but in
05:55Austin, Texas
05:57I grew up
06:00in Austin, Texas
06:01and my father
06:02is Nigerian
06:03so I grew up
06:05far away
06:05from Africa
06:06so a lot
06:07of the images
06:08that I would
06:09see on TV
06:10and society
06:11which means
06:11that Africa
06:12has this poor
06:13and tested
06:14through disease
06:15ridden place
06:16but I knew
06:16that was alive
06:17my mom in
06:19Nigeria
06:20would always
06:21sit in as little
06:21times as
06:22Sheaweiter
06:23she would find
06:23whoever was
06:24traveling to
06:25America
06:25and were
06:26swain
06:26to bring
06:27our Sheaweiter
06:28blacks
06:28and all
06:28these things
06:29so I grew up
06:30with works
06:31in my heritage
06:32I didn't understand
06:33that
06:33and so I got
06:34the significance
06:35of her
06:36making sure
06:36we had those
06:37things
06:38that was her
06:39way of making
06:39sure that we
06:40grew up in parts
06:41of our culture
06:42that was her way
06:43of making sure
06:43that we could be
06:44because Africa
06:45was beautiful
06:46and she wanted
06:47incredible things
06:48that come from
06:48Africa
06:49and so when I
06:50finally got sick
06:52of my corporate
06:52job
06:53in 2015
06:54I had this
06:55calling to
06:56go home
06:57I wanted to
06:58know where I came
06:59from
06:59I wanted to
07:00know about
07:00Nigeria
07:01I wanted to
07:01know about
07:02the African
07:02continent
07:03and so
07:03I cashed
07:04out my 401k
07:06and I went
07:06to Nigeria
07:07and I sucked
07:08it all
07:09I traveled
07:11to God
07:11and Morocco
07:12and God
07:12and Nigeria
07:13so after
07:15I got it
07:15I kept going
07:16and every place
07:17now when I
07:18noticed the
07:18women who
07:20were making
07:20things with
07:21their hands
07:21like shea butter
07:22hardwood oil
07:23all these
07:24things that
07:25deep beauty
07:26brands have
07:27used in their
07:28products for
07:2910 days
07:29but you've
07:30never seen
07:30a beautiful
07:31black woman
07:32who made
07:33these things
07:33and that was
07:34important to me
07:35because I
07:36had the privilege
07:37of knowing
07:38where my
07:39family came
07:40from in Nigeria
07:40my mother was
07:42American
07:42and I
07:43can't try
07:43to sit
07:44with a
07:44range
07:44and no
07:45abortion
07:45in Africa
07:46and so I
07:47wanted to
07:47make a brand
07:48for these
07:48more drones
07:49and I was
07:50going to work
07:51directly with
07:52cooperating
07:53for good
07:53entrepreneurs
07:54who were
07:54making these
07:55ingredients
07:56I wanted to
07:57make sure I
07:57was paying
07:58them
07:58compensating
07:59them fairly
08:00and as I
08:01had big
08:01transparency
08:02I wanted to
08:02know where
08:03these ingredients
08:03were coming
08:04from
08:04and then I
08:05said you
08:06know what
08:06I want to
08:06make a brand
08:07and I
08:07can't really
08:08take a
08:08sheet letter
08:08and we
08:09go to the
08:09drugstore
08:10and the
08:10pay store
08:11it's in a
08:12little dusty
08:12to them
08:13at the
08:13bottom of
08:13the shelves
08:14I wanted
08:15to bring
08:15luxury
08:16to the
08:16things that
08:17we use
08:17every day
08:18and so
08:18our products
08:19are beautiful
08:20and sexy
08:20and you
08:21want to pull
08:21them out
08:22they come
08:22in a beautiful
08:22gold to the
08:23packaging
08:24I wanted
08:24I wanted
08:25some cool
08:25people in
08:26by our
08:26packaging
08:27course
08:27you got
08:28in
08:28you're
08:28going
08:28to learn
08:29about
08:29Africa
08:29you're
08:30going
08:30to learn
08:30that
08:30Africa
08:31is
08:31beautiful
08:31so that is
08:33how 54
08:33thrones
08:34there's 54
08:35countries in
08:36Africa
08:36and that's
08:37why I
08:37have sourced
08:37many of our
08:38ingredients
08:38so I want
08:39you to learn
08:40about
08:40Africa
08:40I want
08:41you to know
08:41that where
08:42you come
08:42from
08:42is beautiful
08:43I love
08:45that
08:45apparently
08:47when you hear
08:47these stories
08:48about these
08:48entrepreneurships
08:50of this
08:50business
08:51is this
08:53what you
08:54envision
08:55when you
08:56think of
08:56this festival
08:56and us
08:57coming together
08:57about us
08:58and supporting
08:59our community
09:00absolutely
09:01it's just
09:04not absolutely
09:04that you do
09:05love
09:05right
09:07and so
09:07one of
09:08what we
09:08also
09:09speak up
09:09for
09:09African
09:10and
09:14absolutely
09:14does
09:15by the way
09:16you know
09:16all of
09:16this
09:16maybe
09:17on
09:17the
09:17same
09:18because
09:18and
09:19as
09:19as
09:19as
09:20all
09:20this
09:21is
09:21here
09:22I
09:23say
09:24that
09:24because
09:24one of
09:25the things
09:26I'm
09:26trying
09:27to
09:27understand
09:28is
09:28the desire
09:29to
09:29within
09:30a lot
09:30because
09:31there's
09:31a lot
09:31of
09:32it's
09:32right
09:33and
09:33I
09:35know
09:35and
09:35I'm
09:36I'm
09:37not
09:37saying
09:37that
09:38I don't
09:38think
09:39even
09:39I
09:39said
09:40it
09:40it
09:40and
09:40not
09:41I
09:41want
09:41to
09:41be
09:42but
09:43I
09:43want
09:43everybody
09:44to
09:45be
09:45able
09:45to
09:45be
09:46or
09:46whatever
09:47they
09:48want
09:48to
09:49do
09:49but
09:50I just think this is black wealth, not black money, not black champagne, black wealth.
10:00And we know that economic decisions are important.
10:05Now, what's beautiful is that the same words coming in, is that you feel that they're not important for you for those to want to go down the back of our street.
10:13And it's coming from the school, and you expose it to the music, voices, and voices, which was founded in 28 years.
10:22But in a family that now owns business, it was founded to do, which was a blend of color, with the information that was part of the success that happened on it to the days of the music, and the music, and the music, and the music, and the music, and the music.
10:36And so, the 26,000 people, who are friends, are not part of the voices of the music.
10:43And three, it's also the voices of the music, which offers double support for the founding of the business.
10:50And since 2018, the voices of the music has created 36,000,000,000 years.
10:59That's not the value of the business that's going to make it happen.
11:02You guys saw a few years ago, the number of a January cover this summer, and you came to the stage yesterday.
11:09But what is this?
11:11A goal is black, both, and cash for a visit.
11:16I won't be talking about so much pressure.
11:18You wanted to see some black gold coins.
11:21Do you want black gold coins to make a new white play?
11:24So we get as fun as games, and we make it a lot of busy.
11:27It's so funny here, it's so obsessed, it's showing up for you to keep on your own.
11:33Everything here is for you, and it's the most important thing you want.
11:37And as Matt perfectly said, thank you both so much of this conversation that you need to force amongst yourselves.
11:44Please support the friends that you see here in the black bands of our art community who may not be here invisible,
11:49but are out there trying to build those empires for us, by us, by our literacy.
11:54Thank you both so much.
