08:53you
08:54you
08:56you
08:57Y'all, it's a wrap.
08:59Thank you so much.
09:03Thank you, everyone.
09:11As males get older, we become more distinguished, for lack of a better word.
09:16And for females, it's more like y'all get names like Cougar and Auntie and things of that nature.
09:21They count y'all out way too early, man, because if Angela Bassett is a testament to what an older woman, more mature woman can be, man, then I want to go that route.
09:34What's good, y'all?
09:35This is Method Man right here, and this is my essence uncovered.
09:40My essence stays covered, though, but this is my essence uncovered.
09:44Y'all be good.
09:48Having an essence covered mean to me?
09:50When I get one, I'll let your ass know.
09:52This is the digital cover.
09:54The physical copy magazine that I grew up on?
09:57That would mean the world.
09:58This is great.
09:59I love the fact that you guys even thought of me for this, and I am truly honored.
10:03I've won a Grammy, and I recently got my first acting award, and that was from the NAACP, Image Award.
10:11I covet that award more than the Grammy any day, because that came from my audience, my people, and they love me.
10:18And I'll take that over anything.
10:20So for essence, after all these years of me being in the business, to be here right now speaks volumes, volumes to my journey, as well as, you know, the classiness of this magazine.
10:35It just got a little bit more classy.
10:37Yes.
10:38Yes.
10:47You can't do both.
10:48I tried it, and it didn't work out for me.
10:50That's why I took a long hiatus from acting, or acting took a long hiatus from my ass.
10:55Let's put it that way.
10:56There were shows being missed, of course, studio, albums not being made, because I was way more into my acting than music.
11:05I haven't met one person that's acting and singing, and they're doing both, and it's working for them, with the exception of J.Lo, because J.Lo does every f***ing thing.
11:14She's the best at it.
11:15Don't at me.
11:16I was in a group that meant a lot to its audience.
11:22We never compromised ourselves, and they respected that.
11:25So why not 25, 26 years from there still have a career, because, you know, you can't pay the buck.
11:32I mean, I've always been myself, so, and nothing's changed, so the audience should still be there, and we're blessed to still have the audience there.
11:40That's all I can say.
11:42How important has physical fitness been to my overall well-being?
11:45When I started, big, depressed, insomnia, a bunch of things going on.
11:50For me, it was, if I'm going to get my mind right, my body might as well be right.
11:54Why, you know, exercise the mind and not exercise the body?
11:57It doesn't make sense.
11:58It was just a transition for me.
11:59I feel like if I can do it, anybody could do it.
12:01Hey, this is Summer Walker, and we're on set for my Essence Magazine cover sheet.
12:18I don't know.
12:19I don't know.
12:19I don't know.
12:21I don't know.
12:22I don't know.
12:23It's a transition for me.
