09:58i love the fact that you guys even thought of me for this and i am truly honored
10:02i've won a grammy and i recently got my first acting award and that was from the n double a cp image award
10:10i covet that award more than the grammy any day because that came from my audience my people and they love me and i'll take that over anything so for essence
10:20after all these years of me being in the business to be here right now speaks volumes volumes to my journey as well as you know the classiness of this magazine
10:34it just got a little bit more classy yes
10:38you can't do both i tried it and it didn't work out for me that's why i took a long hiatus from acting or
10:52acting took a long hiatus from my ass let's put it that way there were shows being missed of course studio
10:58uh albums not being made because i was way more into my acting than music
11:04i haven't met one person that's acting and singing and they're doing both and it's working for them
11:10with the exception of jlo because jlo does every thing she's the best at it don't at me
11:16i was in a group that meant a lot to its audience we never compromised ourselves and they respected that
11:24so why not 25 26 years from there still have a career because you know you can't pay the buck
11:32i've always been myself so and nothing's changed so the audience should still be there and we're blessed to still have the audience there that's all i can say
11:42how important has physical fitness been to my overall well-being when i started um big depressed insomnia a bunch of things going on
11:49for me it was if i'm going to get my mind right my body might as well be right why you know exercise the mind and not exercise the body it doesn't make sense
11:57it was just a transition for me i feel like if i can do it anybody could do it

14:16what does it mean to me to be on the cover of essence i prayed for this moment literally all of
14:36my life as a kid i literally said i would be on the cover essence i would be a star and
14:42being on this cover is bigger than just saying pinky cold being on the cover is every single
14:48entrepreneur who has big dreams to make it to make their business go viral and make multi-million
14:53dollars and just really realizing their dream and people get to see it through me a girl from east
14:59baltimore who had big dreams and big visions and was able to manifest them that landed me to this
15:05opportunity here and that's what we got asking so i'm excited i feel good how i feel
15:10i'm still living in the moment you know it's funny because as entrepreneurs we always talk about
15:17being on big platforms and letting the world know about our organizations and now they about
15:21to see you know that two entrepreneurs that have restaurants what we stand for the mission
15:26that we own and so you know we're so grateful that yeah it feels like a dream and to be able to
15:32have uh my friends and family witness this moment and to be able to walk into a store and we pick
15:38ourselves up off the shelf like that's priceless you can't pay for that so i'm excited that that what
15:44we've built has gotten us here and i'm even more excited to know that this is only the beginning yeah
15:49and for me i get to see uh well my 88 year old grandmother she get to see you know me in the markets
15:55you know she raised me i told her when i started this business when i was losing all my family that
16:01she would see her grandson break barriers and that's what i'm doing you know you got to try to
16:05figure out you know what's important and still try to keep time for everything in your life that you love
16:10but this is the part that's building the part that's going to take care of what you love so you
16:14got to leverage that out so when people say uh make time and do this and do that yes you have to make
16:19time for your loved ones because that's important but i also got to get to this bag so i can help my
16:23loved ones when i ain't here no more so i think that is the most important thing right now is managing
16:28and leveraging the time and that's what we're both working on i think we're doing a good job at you
16:32know what we got in our lives going on you're doing a great job yeah
16:37yeah we live things like we need it the most we have to give things like we really supposed to be down for
