00:1725,000 WWF fans gathered to win to San Antonio's native son.
00:21The Heartbreak Kid Shawn Michaels compete for
00:24the World Wrestling Federation Championship and Shawn Michaels delivers.
00:47Good morning, everybody, and welcome to Sunday Morning Superstars here on the USA Network.
01:00Hi again, everybody, I'm Jim Ross alongside James E. Cornette.
01:04Cornette back from the engine reserve.
01:05He's still a little bit of a pain in the neck, but be that as it may.
01:08The big news, Shawn Michaels is once again the WWF champion.
01:12And in this hour, we will hear from Brett the Hitman Hart,
01:16who after this Monday, I'm sure has a lot to say, James E.
01:18But that's not all, because today we have Hunter Hurst-Helmsley taking on
01:22Ahmed Johnson in a non-title contest, and you talk about the Super Bowl today?
01:27Well, we've got the Superstar Bowl, and what would a bowl be, JR, without a queen?
01:32Here is the queen of the Superstar Bowl, Sonny.
01:36Your guest's timekeeper for the Superstar Bowl, the one, the only, Sonny.
01:46Well, as the Super Bowl Sunday winds on, I'm sure Sonny hasn't had too many incomplete
01:52passes thrown her way.
01:54Oh, JR, I am so sick of hearing, you know, it's a well-documented fact, I hate football.
02:00But I've been looking forward to today, because instead of the Super Bowl, we've got the Superstars
02:04Bowl, and it's gonna be a tremendous matchup.
02:07And after all, Sonny is the belle of the bowl.
02:10Well, why don't you tell us the rules of this very unique contest that we're about to see here,
02:14this morning on Sunday Morning Superstars?
02:16Well, it's really quite simple, JR.
02:18Four teams are involved, a team in each part of the ring.
02:21A tag can be made to any man, not just your partner.
02:25Failure to accept the tag is an automatic disqualification.
02:28When a man is pinned, his team is eliminated, and the last team remaining is the winner.
02:33If I was Hillbilly Jim calling strategy for the Goblins, I would say the best strategy
02:39to the other teams, get them in.
02:41Tag the other guys, leave your partner and yourself on the apron to rest until the field
02:46gets cleared.
02:47The Nation of Domination is certainly very prevalent yesterday afternoon in Madison Square
02:56Garden.
02:57We'll show you some exclusive footage from MSG a little bit later here this morning.
03:02It seems as if the Nation of Domination has a new member.
03:06We'll have more on that.
03:07Of course, also some exclusive footage from last night's Shotgun Saturday night involving
03:12the Nation of Domination as well.
03:15But this is the first time to date that we have seen Baruch and Crush one-on-one in a
03:21tag team matchup here.
03:23Boy, I'll tell you what, the Nation of Domination is multiplying as time goes on.
03:28There's more and more of them every day.
03:31And here comes Doug Furness and Phillip Lafon.
03:34Outstanding tag team combination.
03:36For over five years, regular tag team partners with the All Japan Wrestling Organization.
03:41based in Tokyo, former All Asian Tag Team Champions.
03:46Certainly looking forward to someday having the opportunity to compete for the WWF Tag
03:51Title, even though last Monday night on Raw, Furness and Lafon lost in a very
03:56controversial way, I might add.
03:58A non-title matchup with a team we're about to see right here.
04:01The British Bulldog and Slammy Award winning Owen Hart.
04:05And the way that Furness and Lafon lost was that Owen Hart turned in another Slammy
04:10award winning performance, JR.
04:12By the way, would you watch that hat, please?
04:14Every time you turn your head, you like to knock me out.
04:17Well, I like my new hat.
04:19Matter of fact, my new line of hats will be out by Christmas, I hope.
04:23That's the worst line I've ever heard of.
04:25Look at the Godwins.
04:27If I had a hammer, I'd hammer in the mud.
04:32Well, the Godwins, you know, were both MVPs in the 1986 Arkansas Toilet Bowl.
04:38Did you realize that?
04:39I didn't realize that.
04:40Yes.
04:42So we have now our four teams.
04:44You don't think they're gonna turn loose of a pigskin, do you?
04:47And our timekeeper, Sonny, the queen of the Superstars Bowl, rings the bell.
04:54We are ready to go here, and the entire nation of domination remaining out here.
04:58That may not bode well for the other three teams in this contest.
05:02And it's Phillip Lafon and the British Bulldog, who, by the way,
05:05will go one-on-one tomorrow night on RAW right here on the USA Network.
05:09Well, this is gonna be a real interesting matchup.
05:12Like you said, a couple of confrontations in the past between these two teams,
05:16but there's some other folks in this match.
05:18Look out.
05:19Uh-oh.
05:20That's a submission maneuver, JR.
05:22Trying to take that knee out, but Bulldog able to make it to the ropes.
05:25There's some other folks in this match that are gonna complicate it.
05:28I think Bulldog and Owen, Ferdis and Lafon are gonna wanna concentrate on each other.
05:33Put to the face there by Lafon.
05:35Lafon going up, and he's caught there by the Bulldog.
05:38Look at the power of the British Bulldog.
05:40And Lafon fights his way back down to the mat, and the suplex is reversed.
05:45And another counter, another counter, and an air fall.
05:48Reverse and reverse again, and both these guys, excellent counter wrestlers.
05:52Every time one makes a move, the other comes out on top.
05:56And now, is he going for the sharpshooter?
05:58No, just a kick to the midsection.
06:00We'll take another look, ladies and gentlemen, at this double feature.
06:05Look at this move here, the Bulldog showing his great power.
06:08And then, another great counter move, the Bulldog is countered here.
06:13And again, the Bulldog's power coming to the front, kicking out.
06:17Good agility by Lafon.
06:18Look at that counter.
06:19I tell you, both Ferdis and Lafon, you don't hear a lot from them.
06:23They don't do a lot of talking.
06:24They prefer to let their acts in the ring speak for themselves.
06:28But they both are excellent technicians.
06:31Nice leg crank by Owen Hart, another good counter move.
06:34Owen Hart and Bulldog are an outstanding team, and some say,
06:37have gotten much, much more efficient since they've begun their association with Clarence Mason.
06:44Well, Clarence Mason has been a busy man, but I know from personal experience, don't trust him.
06:51However, the Nation of Domination is on a march, and I'm wondering,
06:55how do Owen and Bulldog fit in with Mason since Mason joined the Nation of Domination?
07:00Seems like there's a conflict of interest there.
07:03And a double team here, the referee being distracted by Doug Furness inadvertently,
07:09and that certainly gave the WWF Tag Champions the opportunity to double team Phil Lafon here.
07:15Lafon originally from Paris, France.
07:18Very proud of his French heritage as Philip Lafon.
07:21I thought he was from Paris, Kentucky.
07:24Or Paris, Arkansas.
07:25How we go there?
07:26Like say hello to Bill Ash, who I'm sure is watching Sunday Morning Superstars
07:30as he does each and every week down there in Paris.
07:33It's a nightmare takeover by Owen Hart, the leg drop.
07:36And Owen Hart now tags in Big Henry Godwin.
07:40Now, how do you like seeing that tag?
07:42That is an excellent example of what I was talking about.
07:45But wait a minute!
07:46Owen Hart trying to cheap shot there.
07:48And Henry Godwin slamming Owen Hart right down on Philip Lafon now.
07:53Big Hank going for a cover and a near fall situation.
07:57Well, I can't imagine that Lafon was too happy about that
08:00even though the people seem to like Big Hank slamming Owen Hart.
08:04Problem was Lafon took the front of it.
08:07And the dim-witted Phineas Godwin being tagged in now.
08:10And good suplex by Phineas.
08:13Showing one of the wrestling moves he's learned.
08:15One, two.
08:16And Philip Lafon in a great deal of trouble here.
08:18I cannot believe, take a look at it again.
08:20He slammed Owen Hart straight on top of Phil Lafon.
08:23Stop making friends.
08:25Oh, the sloped rock.
08:26And I think we missed the tag.
08:28Showing you that double feature.
08:30And Henry Godwin in.
08:32The referee's losing control here.
08:33Well, now it's just a big mess.
08:34Lafon's trying to school.
08:35Boy, Godwin had a drop kick by Furnace.
08:37Furnace caught him, Phineas right in the face.
08:40And there's a first pinning situation.
08:43The first elimination of the matchup that Godwin's returned to the locker room.
08:47One team worked by Furnace and Lafon tipped for tat as Godwin had slammed Owen Hart on top of Lafon.
08:55Godwin, this thing is going crazy, JR.
08:57Three teams are left.
08:59Who will survive?
09:00We'll be right back.
09:03And welcome back, everyone, to the Superstars Bowl right here on Super Sunday on the USA Network.
09:09We're gonna take you back and show you some more of this exciting action, James E.
09:13Well, this happened during the break, a snap power slam by Doug Furnace on Farouk.
09:17The action has continued, and as you saw right before we left you for the commercial break,
09:22the Godwins have already been eliminated.
09:25And you also saw a tag there between Farouk and the British Bulldog, and now Farouk tagged back in.
09:31And a cheap shot close line by the Bulldog, knocking Farouk down.
09:36Furnace for the cover, and a two and a half count there.
09:40See, that's the beauty of this match.
09:41That's why the Godwins are out.
09:42They were trying to work as a team.
09:44You saw earlier Owen Hart tagged in one of the Godwins.
09:48You saw there Bulldog tagged in Farouk.
09:50Get the other guys in, clear the field, and then you and your partner have an easier way to go.
09:56Farouk certainly knows what it's like to go bowling.
09:58Normally at Florida State University, he did it on January the 1st.
10:02Played in a couple of Orange Bowls there, did Farouk.
10:05And a front face lock by Crush.
10:07And Crush is hearing that jailbird chant, and he does not like that.
10:11And what a leg drop.
10:12Right to the face.
10:13Is it over?
10:14No, it's not.
10:15And Doug Furnace will not quit.
10:17Furnace, another great college football player at the University of Tennessee.
10:22The WWF full of outstanding athletes.
10:24There's no doubt about that.
10:26Watch it!
10:29Ladies and gentlemen, we understand the standing by Hunter Hearst Helmsley.
10:33It's Butler Curtis.
10:34What do you think about meeting Ahmed later this morning, Hunter?
10:37You know, Jim Ross, a man of my distinction shouldn't even have to step into the same ring with a man like Ahmed Johnson.
10:44But since there's adequate shower facilities and soap in this building, and since this is a prelude to In Your House,
10:52where I have so graciously decided to put my Intercontinental title on the line against Ahmed Johnson,
10:59I've decided to step into the ring with him today and give him a small prelude to what will happen if he even makes it to In Your House.
11:09Thank you very much, Hunter, and it's good to see Curtis again also.
11:13You know, I always love a guy.
11:15Wait a minute!
11:16What a hurricanrana there!
11:17Wow!
11:18An inverted head scissors takeover by Philip, or by Doug Furnace rather, on Owen Hart.
11:24And Owen got himself tied up in a very precarious position there.
11:27Owen Hart's head was just drilled into the canvas.
11:31I think we ought to take another look at that one, holy my, wait a minute!
11:36Enziguri there by Owen Hart, the head kick, it may be over.
11:39Look at LaFont, he can't believe it, he sees his count of two!
11:43That former Tennessee volunteer, Doug Furnace, is not gonna quit.
11:46And Owen Hart can't believe he just got a two count, there's a cradle, and no, yes, no, he didn't get it.
11:53No, he did not get it, did Owen Hart.
11:55I cannot believe the action that we're seeing Owen Hart and Doug Furnace back and forth.
12:00What impact and a double leg splitter there!
12:03Make a wish, JR!
12:04Owen Hart almost eliminated by that cradle of Doug Furnace.
12:08There's another lateral press.
12:10Oh, come on, I gotta see it again!
12:12Look at this, a combination, hurricanrana and flying head scissors!
12:15And look at Owen Hart's head beat the canvas in the enziguri,
12:19and you can hear the smack of the foot and the skull.
12:23Bulldog tagging in Crush, and look at Furnace trying to fight out of the corner of the nation of domination.
12:29The nation of domination continues to grow seemingly each and every week,
12:33and that startling footage of their newest member still to come here this morning on Sunday Morning Superstars.
12:39We don't wanna neglect, I was trying to be personable and try to keep my etiquette up,
12:45talking to Hunter Helmsley.
12:46That would be different.
12:47When all of a sudden, oh, all of the action broke out.
12:50But you see Helmsley's new Butler Curtis, I understand, has been doing a wonderful job,
12:54and it's good to see a man who can find good help these days.
12:58Tremendous backbreaker by the powerful Crush.
13:006'8", over 300 pounds.
13:02Hooks the leg, and got another.
13:04Boy, that was a long two count.
13:06And I don't know, quite frankly, how much more that Doug Furnace can withstand here.
13:11Boy, this crowd seeing some great live action here.
13:14Looks like they'll see this afternoon in Philadelphia, the Coors State Center.
13:19Big event in Philadelphia.
13:21Look at the power!
13:22Pregame pandemonium today in Philly at 1 o'clock.
13:26And a great vertical suplex by the former Intercontinental and one half of the WWE Tag
13:31Champions, the British Bulldog.
13:33And look out.
13:34Go!
13:35What a chop block, a cheap shot by Farouk.
13:38And Furnace is gonna get to Duke.
13:41The Bulldog and Owen have been eliminated.
13:44I can't believe it.
13:45The champions had to be the favorites coming into this thing.
13:48But Farouk, as you will see, returned the favor.
13:51Earlier, Bulldog had closed line.
13:53Closed line, Farouk, boom!
13:55Farouk returns the favor and the Bulldog and Owen hits the locker room.
13:59Well, two teams are remaining.
14:01What?
14:02Who?
14:03Honky Tonk's talking to who?
14:05What?
14:06We got, that's Rocky Maivia.
14:07What's he doing talking to Honky Tonk?
14:09That, that Ed Grady's even laughing.
14:11That's back in the locker room area.
14:13The Honky Tonk man having a conversation with Rocky Maivia.
14:17What could that be about?
14:19We'll try to keep you updated on that.
14:21Folks, the Superstar Bowl continues.
14:23Don't go away.
14:27Welcome back, everybody, to USA.
14:29The Superstar Bowl continues.
14:31Standing by Ahmed Johnson.
14:33Ahmed, we're looking forward to your matchup later this morning.
14:35But how do you respond regarding the comments that Mr. Helmsley made,
14:39talking about he didn't want to soil himself with a man of your type?
14:43First of all, Harvey's gonna get something that water and soap just can't take off.
14:48And as far a title goes, it's not his title.
14:51It's the Intercontinental People's title.
14:53Well, first of all, Ahmed, we'd like to thank you for taking time out from your day
14:57job as United Nations Interpreter to come and talk to us here today.
15:00But I think that he's gonna have a rude awakening today because Ahmed faces
15:05Helmsley for the title at In Your House February 16th.
15:09If Helmsley can put him away today, JR, then he's gonna have no chance.
15:14He's gonna be beaten before he starts.
15:15He may not even get the title back.
15:17Well, it's gonna be a great matchup later here this morning.
15:19We're down to two teams in the Superstar Bowl.
15:22Furnace and LaFont against the Nation of Domination.
15:25What a jawbreaker there by Doug Furnace, driving his own head up into the jaw of Farouk.
15:32And Farouk certainly infuriated a crowd of some 16,640 yesterday afternoon in Madison Square Garden.
15:42Farouk's going to the, oh, Farouk don't go to the air.
15:45That's not your strong point.
15:47And look at Furnace, my goodness.
15:50A belly-to-belly suplex over the top by Doug Furnace.
15:54And Furnace really showing some tremendous resolve, no quit in this kid.
16:00And tag is made, Philip LaFont is in.
16:03How much power does it take to do that to a 290-pound man?
16:08And look at LaFont, he's flying.
16:10LaFont with a spinning heel kick.
16:12More martial arts movement by Philip LaFont here.
16:15And another spinning heel kick, and down goes Crush.
16:18But LaFont and Farouk are the legal men.
16:21LaFont going for the cover, but didn't have enough leverage there to hold down the powerful Farouk.
16:28And Crush was there as a backup just in case.
16:30I'll tell you, these fans today in this arena, and our viewers on television, look at this.
16:36They've seen action, the likes of which we haven't seen in a long time.
16:40Hard shoulder block by Furnace, knocking down the 300-plus pound Crush.
16:44And wait a minute.
16:46There's a Dominator.
16:47The Dominator, just what Ahmed Johnson felt yesterday in Madison Square Garden.
16:53And the Nation of Domination have won the first Superstars Bowl right here on Super Sunday.
17:00As this huge crowd looks on, the Nation of Domination is getting stronger and stronger by the day.
17:08Well, Furnace tried to save it, but Crush had him by the leg.
17:11The Dominators fell defeat for Furnace and LaFont.
17:15Give me the Superstar Bowl any day.
17:17No timeouts, no halftime, no huddling.
17:20It's all action, and the Nation of Domination come out on top of the first annual Superstar Bowl.
17:28What a match, what a day.
17:30Folks, Western Union, the fastest way to send money worldwide presents WWF In Your House Final Four,
17:38live Sunday, February 16th on Pay Per View.
17:41And what a wild match we're gonna see.
17:43The Hitman Bret Hart, Stone Cold Steve Austin, The Undertaker,
17:47and the man they call Vader in a four-man elimination match.
17:50The winner gets the title shot at WrestleMania 13, and here's how it happened.
17:54Stone Cold Steve Austin clearly dominated the Royal Rumble match,
17:58lasting over 45 minutes in the ring.
18:01Nevertheless, the Hitman Bret Hart clearly eliminated Austin.
18:05However, both WWF officials were distracted and missed the call.
18:09The opportunistic Austin climbed back in the ring and stole the victory for
18:12Bret Hart along with Bret's WWF title shot at WrestleMania.
18:17Incensed by what he claimed was just the latest in a series of unjust decisions,
18:21Bret the Hitman Hart unexpectedly let loose the following night on Monday Night Raw.
18:27With these consequences, take a listen.
18:30You promised me that I would get an opportunity to fight for the World Wrestling Federation Championship belt.
18:39You put me in the ring with Stone Cold Steve Austin and said that if I could beat Stone Cold Steve Austin,
18:56that I would be the number one contender for the World Wrestling Federation Championship belt.
19:01Now, don't you think it's just a little bit convenient that for some stupid reason,
19:11Shawn Michaels finds himself out at ringside announcing in my World Championship match with Psycho Sid?
19:19I don't think it was any kind of a coincidence either.
19:26So Shawn Michaels jumps up and sticks his nose in my business and cost me the World Wrestling Federation Championship belt.
19:40With blatant interference, the boy toy cost me the championship, and they go, that's okay.
19:47Don't worry about it.
19:50Cuz now you can go in the Royal Rumble and you only have to fight 29 other guys,
19:55and then you'll get your opportunity for the World Wrestling Federation Championship belt.
20:01So I went in the ring, and it's very, very clear to me that I won the Royal Rumble,
20:12and I should be getting a World Wrestling Federation Championship belt.
20:16Where is my opportunity?
20:31The way I look at things right now, I've been screwed by Shawn Michaels, the boy toy.
20:41I've been screwed by Stone Cold Steve Austin.
20:48I've been screwed by the World Wrestling Federation.
20:55But the way I see things, it doesn't look like I'm gonna get my opportunity for a shot at the World Wrestling Federation Championship belt.
21:08So I quit.
21:12I quit.
21:13We never thought we'd hear Bret Hart say those words, and Stone Cold then would seize the moment.
21:18Ever since you came back, you ain't done nothing but cry.
21:21You sit there and talk about how Vince screwed you, how everybody screwed you, how I screwed you.
21:29The bottom line is, son, when the going gets tough, the hearts get going back home.
21:35Knock it off.
21:40Go on back to Canada, son, because the only person you could possibly beat is your wrinkle-up old man in his little old basement.
21:50Later that night, WWF President Gorilla Monsoon attempted to right an injustice.
21:56As you know and everyone knows, a real travesty occurred last night at the Royal Rumble.
22:01And Stone Cold Steve Austin was declared the winner of the Royal Rumble.
22:06Now, there isn't anything I can do about that, because as everyone knows, referees' decisions are final here in the World Wrestling Federation.
22:14And it will, in fact, state in the record books that the 1997 Royal Rumble was indeed won by Stone Cold Steve Austin.
22:23However, if he thinks for one moment that that tainted victory is going to entitle him to a crack at the WWF title at WrestleMania 13, he's got another guest coming.
22:37Then what do you propose to do about it?
22:41What I've done is this, Vince.
22:43I've put together a very unique match, a four-man elimination, no disqualification match.
22:50The winner of which will unquestionably face the World Wrestling Federation champion, whomever it may be, at WrestleMania 13.
22:59And those four participants?
23:00Those four participants that I have chosen are, number one, The Undertaker, who was illegally eliminated in the Royal Rumble by Austin.
23:14Number two, Vader, who was also illegally eliminated by Stone Cold in the Royal Rumble.
23:22Number three, if he accepts Bret the Hitman Hart, who was also illegally eliminated by Stone Cold Steve Austin.
23:35And, of course, the man who got the tainted victory at the Royal Rumble, Stone Cold Steve Austin himself.
23:42Just then, Stone Cold charged back to the ring and challenged Mon Su.
23:47There ain't no way I should be in this match.
23:50I threw 29 pieces of trash over the top rope.
23:54And if that's what it's gonna take, I'll get into a little four-way match myself.
24:00The bottom line is, son, when I get through with them four, I'll toss your carcass around the arena.
24:07Hell, I might just do that now.
24:12As quickly as he left, Bret Hart returned with an answer for Mon Su and a message for Stone Cold Steve Austin.
24:19I accept.
24:21No, wait.
24:22But we don't need to wait till February.
24:25Let's do it right now.
24:26Bret Hart and Austin, they're gonna get it on here.
24:31They're fighting.
24:33What a brawl.
24:35Virtually anything goes.
24:37No disqualifications.
24:38It'll be sanctioned mayhem.
24:40Later that night, we got a final four preview of sorts as the match between Austin and The Undertaker got out of hand.
24:46Vader, The Undertaker, Bret Hart, Stone Cold Steve Austin.
24:50Only one man will be left standing on February 16th.
24:54And the winner will battle for the WWE title at WrestleMania 13.
24:58And there he is, J.R. Bret the Hitman Hart.
25:00He got a lot off his chest last Monday.
25:02Is he just whining and complaining or does he have a legitimate gripe?
25:05Is he gonna quit again today?
25:07We'll find out when we come back.
25:09Don't go away.
25:10Ladies and gentlemen, my guest at this time is the best there is, the best there was, and the best there ever will be, Bret Hitman Hart.
25:21What a tremendous ovation for no doubt a future Hall of Famer here in the World Wrestling Federation.
25:29The uncomfortable Bret the Hitman Hart, who will be involved no doubt in the final four matchup.
25:37He'll be involved all right in a big, big way.
25:40February 16th on pay per view from the UTC Arena in Chattanooga, Tennessee.
25:46Bret Hart, The Undertaker, Stone Cold Steve Austin, and Vader.
25:50Thornton will enter the ring, but only one man will face the WWF Champion,
25:55whomever that may be, at WrestleMania 13.
26:00Bret Hart has been telling it like it is, as the old cliche goes, this should be most interesting.
26:10Bret, suffice to say, we all understand how frustrated you are.
26:17But I know you wanted this time to kind of explain your actions from last week on Raw.
26:27Well, for me, you know, I just want to say that the last thing that I ever want to be remembered is, in the World Wrestling Federation is as a loser.
26:35But the only thing ever being worse than being remembered for being a loser is being remembered as a quitter.
26:42Or a guy that nonstop just continue to complain about it all the time.
26:47You know, I don't want to be remembered as a quitter or a loser or a complainer.
26:51But I find it really hard, you know, because I really sincerely believe in my heart that a lot of stuff has gone on.
27:01You know, I was the first one to say that there are no rules in the World Wrestling Federation.
27:06But, you know, I think for every time I take one step forward, I'm taking two steps back.
27:13And I think I've been pushed about as far back as I can go.
27:16You know, I believe in my heart that Shawn Michaels purposely cost me the World Wrestling Federation Championship belt.
27:25I believe that Stone Cold Steve Austin screwed me out of the 1997 Royal Rumble.
27:32And even going back just a few weeks ago in my match with Vader,
27:40I was screwed out of a victory and it was another travesty of justice.
27:45And every time I look back at what's been happening since I came back in the World Wrestling Federation,
27:50The WWF, the powers that be, haven't done a thing about it.
27:56But, you know, I'm willing to overlook all of that because again,
28:06I don't really want to be remembered that way.
28:10And I got another opportunity now with this Final Four.
28:14And the way I look at it, I got another opportunity now with this Final Four.
28:19I got another opportunity to go in the ring with Stone Cold Steve Austin.
28:24And no matter how Stone Cold Steve is,
28:29he'll never be as cool as the Excellence of Execution.
28:33I look forward to stepping in the ring with Big Vader and
28:40righting the wrong and showing him that he's not good enough.
28:44And he never ever will be good enough to get past the Excellence of Execution.
28:50And while I have infinite respect for The Undertaker, and we've crossed paths before,
28:57and I'm sure we'll cross paths again.
29:00But the fact is, I'm not afraid of the dark side, and I'm not afraid of The Undertaker.
29:06The Final Four is a chance for me to be the last man standing once again.
29:17And the way I look at the World Wrestling Federation now, it's kind of like dog eat dog.
29:24And I feel like, it's a bit like King of the Mountain or King of the Hill.
29:28And I'm climbing up to the top of the mountain, and I got my fingers at the very top of the mountain.
29:33And I got Stone Cold Steve Austin, and I got Vader, and I've got The Undertaker.
29:38I got everybody stomping on my fingers.
29:41But they're not gonna stop me.
29:44Nobody is gonna stop me, and I'm gonna get to the top of that mountain,
29:48and I'm gonna throw every single one of them off, one by one.
29:52And finally, I'm gonna take Shawn Michaels, and I'm gonna hurl him off.
30:02And I'll prove once again to myself and all my fans around the world,
30:08without a shadow of a doubt, that I'm the best there is, the best there was,
30:12and the best there ever will be.
30:14And I will be the World Wrestling Federation Champion for a fourth time.
30:19Thank you.
30:22Bret the Hitman Hart, he's convinced that he can be the number one man
30:26in the World Wrestling Federation.
30:28I'll tell you what the problem is, JR.
30:31Shawn Michaels won his match at the Rumble.
30:34Bret Hart lost his match at the Rumble.
30:36And that's why Bret has to prove himself.
30:39He is hot, and he's jealous.
30:42Well, we'll hear from Shawn Michaels tomorrow night on Raw.
30:45But Bret Hart has great popularity, no doubt about it, including last Sunday night
30:49in the record-breaking 60,525 WWF Royal Rumble.
30:55What a crowd on hand to see the 1997 Royal Rumble.
30:59What a night it was.
31:0160,525 in San Antonio.
31:05And the atmosphere, folks, I promise, was absolutely electrifying.
31:10But still to come right here this morning, the Pearl River Powerhouse.
31:13Ahmed Johnson takes on that British snob, Hunter Hertz-Helmsley.
31:16And Savio Vega with The Nation, footage from Shotgun is next.
31:20Ahmed Johnson going for the Pearl River Plunge on Crush.
31:25This was yesterday in Madison Square Garden.
31:27Ahmed Johnson had almost single-handedly dismantled The Nation of Domination.
31:33And Ahmed Johnson now ready to finish Farouk off.
31:36But Ahmed's partner Savio Vega, as you see in the corner, trying to make the tag,
31:41wanting to get a piece of the action, wanting to get a hold of The Nation of Domination.
31:46But when the tag is made, watch what happens.
31:49Why would Savio Vega turn his back on Ahmed Johnson?
31:53Has Savio Vega joined The Nation of Domination?
31:56Last night at Shotgun Saturday night, Todd Pettengale had the opportunity to talk
32:00to Savio Vega, who denied that he was a member of The Nation of Domination,
32:04and said that his Puerto Rican temper just got the best of him.
32:08Well, JR, that explanation may have held for a while, but when The Nation of Domination
32:12showed up at ringside during Savio's match with Rocky Maivia, all heck broke loose,
32:17and soon Savio Vega had joined The Nation of Domination in delivering a brutal beating
32:23to the rookie sensation Rocky Maivia.
32:26It was like a pack of ravaged dogs.
32:28Look at Farouk, with that leather belt, assault Rocky Maivia.
32:32If there were ever any questions as to Savio Vega's membership in The Nation of Domination,
32:38all those questions were answered last night.
32:41JR, not a lot surprises me in the World Wrestling Federation anymore, but I can't believe it.
32:46Savio Vega, a member of The Nation of Domination.
32:49And that has to be a huge concern for that man, Ahmed Johnson, with Savio Vega,
32:56joining the likes of Farouk and Crush.
32:59This Nation of Domination is a very, very deadly and dangerous organization,
33:04one that sooner or later will catch up with a man from Pearl River, Mississippi.
33:09But Ahmed Johnson had better not look ahead of Hunter Hearst Helmsley here today in a non-title match.
33:15We'll have that for you in just a second.
33:17If you go away, shame on you.
33:22Welcome back, everyone.
33:23The Intercontinental Champion about to make his way to the ring.
33:26And today, WWF Superstars is brought to you by Western Union,
33:29the fastest way to send money worldwide.
33:33Why don't you check that out, JR?
33:35Go ahead and send me some.
33:36I'll see how quick I get it.
33:38Don't hold your breath on that one, all right?
33:40Hunter Hearst Helmsley, look at that beautiful championship belt.
33:44He won it, as a matter of fact, to make his own.
33:47He has his personal jeweler in Greenwich, but Monsoon wouldn't sanction it.
33:52And, of course, Helmsley followed by his newly retained butler, Curtis.
33:58As I said earlier, it's hard to find good help these days,
34:01but I think Curtis has already shown that he could be a great help to Hunter Hearst Helmsley.
34:06Look at that face.
34:07Is there a public ugly limit in this building?
34:10Curtis has certainly got himself in good shape just to be a butler.
34:14I think he's more of a bodyguard, if you know what I mean.
34:16Of course, Hunter Hearst Helmsley will meet Ahmed Johnson for the Intercontinental title Sunday,
34:22February 16th, during the Final Four event in Chattanooga, Tennessee's UTC Arena.
34:28That'll be on pay-per-view Sunday, February 16th, when we're talking about big events in February.
34:34February 17th, the WWF Live in the new Nashville Arena, February the 18th,
34:40back in my old stomping grounds in Birmingham, Alabama,
34:43and then headed up to Knoxville, Tennessee, where James E. became infamous.
34:48February the 20th, that's a Thursday night in K-Town.
34:52You know, I'm glad to be going back to civilization after spending so much time in the Frozen North, JR.
34:59Well, actually, the big event in Knoxville is on a Wednesday night, just for your information.
35:03No, it's not.
35:04It's Thursday.
35:05I swear.
35:06Fallen elbow tie-up by Ahmed Johnson, and down goes Hunter Hearst Helmsley.
35:14And Helmsley certainly cannot match power with Ahmed Johnson,
35:18and I defer to my esteemed colleague here regarding Knoxville is on a Thursday night.
35:23Thank you.
35:24I'm sure Jennifer Good, our psychedelic producer, was the one who gave you that information.
35:29This is going to be a great match-up, Ahmed Johnson and Helmsley,
35:33because it's a match-up of strength and science.
35:36It's a match-up of speed and power.
35:39Well, as long as Ahmed is vertical, he is very, very dangerous.
35:44Helmsley has a, and now Ahmed is a living a little salt in the wound of Helmsley.
35:49Oh, he's trying to say that Helmsley soiled him instead of the other way around.
35:53Is that what he's saying?
35:54I think that's what he means.
35:55Oh, man.
35:56Side-headlocked by Helmsley.
35:57He has great technical skills and must be able to utilize him here to survive this match-up.
36:02No!
36:03What a shoulder block by the powerful Ahmed Johnson.
36:07And this non-title match-up is certainly not going the way of the snob from Greenwich, Connecticut.
36:14Well, you see, Helmsley's just feeling him out.
36:16That's what the situation is.
36:18He's feeling him out.
36:19You said Ahmed Johnson's great as long as he's vertical.
36:22Well, Hunter Hearst Helmsley is an expert at making people horizontal.
36:26Well, we've heard that.
36:27Do you think Helmsley really cares what happens in this match?
36:30He's feeling Ahmed out because on February 16th, he's putting that title on the line.
36:35And when he gets down there to that UTC roundhouse,
36:38he wants to make sure that he knows exactly what Ahmed's strengths and weaknesses are.
36:44Ahmed Johnson giving us a clean break,
36:46but Helmsley didn't comply to the referee's instructions there and got a cheap shot in.
36:51And Ahmed Johnson says, so you want to fight, we'll fight.
36:54No problem.
36:56Ahmed Johnson, I know, cheering for the Green Bay Packers later today as is most of America.
37:02Beautiful, Ripford.
37:04Almost a beautiful reversal.
37:06When you've got the power of Ahmed Johnson, you can just use that muscle to block a lot of moves.
37:11That's what happened right there.
37:12What's he saying?
37:16Where's the belt?
37:17This is a non-title match and Ahmed Johnson knows that he's gonna have to prove himself.
37:22So far, he's not showing me anything.
37:24Helmsley's taking care of him easily.
37:26I don't think.
37:28Kick to the midsection by Ahmed Johnson.
37:31And Ahmed, the scissors kick, and down goes the Intercontinental Champion.
37:35We know that Ahmed Johnson refers to the Intercontinental title as the People's Belt, the People's Championship.
37:45But Ahmed Johnson's not the only person interested in the Intercontinental title.
37:49What about Goldust?
37:50And Ahmed misses the elbow.
37:51What about wild man Mark Merrill?
37:53A lot of folks are in the hunt for the Intercontinental title, currently held by Hunter Hearst Helmsley,
37:58who showed some dastardly sportsmanship on Shotgun Saturday night last night from Webster Hall in New York City.
38:05Oh, yeah.
38:06He put the pedigree on Rocky Maivia.
38:09As a matter of fact, after Maivia had already been, had the bejesus knocked out of him by the Nation of Domination,
38:15Helmsley doing commentary, pedigreed Rocky to finish him off.
38:19Irish whip is reversed to the center of the ropes, and Helmsley holds on.
38:23That was a good move there.
38:24Oh, yeah.
38:25Oh, Ahmed Johnson falling out of sight.
38:28And back in, looking on a monitor, that's, of course, Goldust and Marlena.
38:32Hey, look, I knew Marlena was interested in Helmsley.
38:35Folks, this matchup, uh-oh, wait a minute, wait a minute.
38:41My mom needed money in.
38:43Meet the son who did not send the money Western Union.
38:46She had to hitchhike across three counties.
38:48Took two pickups and an 18-wheeler.
38:50And the heartbreak it caused.
38:51My own son.
38:52Made it to me.
38:53Western Union, the fastest way to send money worldwide.
38:56And now Western Union presents Rewind.
38:59Doug Furness driving Crush out of the ring, but Bill LaFond still down on the mat.
39:04Baruch takes the opportunity.
39:06The Dominator on Philip LaFond.
39:09Spins him over to cover.
39:11Furness.
39:12Is he too late?
39:13He's too late to make the save.
39:15That, from earlier today on the Superstar Bowl, the winning team, the Nation of Domination.
39:23And Hunter Hearst Helmsley working on the kidney area.
39:26The area that has been well documented injured by Farouk, the lacerated kidney.
39:30And of course, tomorrow night on Raw, it will be Ahmed Johnson and Crush.
39:35And you can bet, James Z, that the entire Nation of Domination will be on hand to offer more than,
39:40well, let's say, immoral support for Crush tomorrow night on Raw.
39:44I wonder if Savio's gonna show up.
39:46You know, I went back in the back during the break, by the way, JR, just to see if I could get a comment from the honky-tonk man
39:51on exactly what he was talking to Rocky Maivia about.
39:54He wouldn't even tell me.
39:55I don't know, but if he is trying to sign Rocky Maivia up, then I know from experience he's dropping his bucket down a dry well.
40:02That guy, he won't listen to anybody.
40:05Snapmare takeover by Hunter Hearst Helmsley, who may be wasting some valuable time here.
40:11And Helmsley going for that Harley race-like knee drop right to the head.
40:15And going for the cover now, hooking the far leg.
40:18And Ahmed Johnson gets a right shoulder off the canvas, much to the frustration of Hunter Hearst Helmsley.
40:24You know, you talked about all the people that want the Intercontinental Championship, but Ahmed Johnson is selfish.
40:30He doesn't recognize anybody else's claim to it.
40:33He says because he never lost that title, it should still be his.
40:37He was the Intercontinental Champion, as you know, when he was injured by Farouk,
40:41and he still claims ownership of that title.
40:45Ahmed Johnson without a great deal of technical expertise, but a world full of power,
40:50a Super Bowl full of power.
40:52Does Ahmed Johnson possess?
40:54Look at this standing vertical suplex.
40:56Very reminiscent of the powerful British Bulldog's own technique.
41:01Also tomorrow night on Raw, we're gonna see Vader and Mankind now teammates take on the Godwins in tag team action.
41:08We're talking about Shawn Michaels has got a lot to say tomorrow night on Raw.
41:11Bulldog and Phillip Buffon one-on-one, and of course, Crush and Ahmed Johnson.
41:18All that tomorrow night and much more on Raw here on the USA Network.
41:21Last night on Shotgun, I saw Mankind interested in Womankind.
41:25I can't believe Vader and Mankind is a team.
41:28There's a lateral press, and another near fall here.
41:31Ahmed Johnson certainly refuses to keep his shoulders on the canvas.
41:36You know, JR, I may have to take you out to dinner with that money I got from Paul Bearer on that Vader deal.
41:41Well, that will be different.
41:42Fifteen years, that'd be a first.
41:43You're spending a couple of bucks.
41:45You must have a coupon for Wendy's or something.
41:47I got some gift certificates from McDonald's from Finkel for Christmas, but we won't go into that now.
41:52Helmsley, he has a home.
41:55He's got Ahmed in the corner, but he can't keep him there.
41:57Helmsley cannot win a fist fight with Ahmed Johnson.
42:00Helmsley is too smart to use these tactics.
42:03I think his ego is about the size of that big old nose of his.
42:07It's just getting in the way here.
42:09I'm telling you, he's trying to see what Ahmed's got before the title is on the line in Chattanooga on February 16th.
42:16Ahmed was reaching for a double leg pickup there, perhaps a waist lock, and Helmsley saw it coming.
42:21Good adjustment there by Hunter Hearst Helmsley on Ahmed Johnson in this non-title matchup.
42:27Nice back body drop by the Pearl River Powerhouse.
42:32Wait a minute.
42:33Ahmed Johnson.
42:34That was a hand signal.
42:35That was a hand signal from Helmsley.
42:37He's trying to distract the referee's attention over there.
42:40And look at Curtis.
42:42He's going around the back.
42:44I knew it.
42:45Helmsley's detaining a referee.
42:47Here comes the butler.
42:48The butler did it.
42:49The butler did it with a belt.
42:51Big Curtis just, he nailed Ahmed right in the back of the head.
42:56Ahmed Johnson is down.
42:58And now can Hunter Hearst Helmsley capitalize?
43:00I knew this was a plot.
43:02He's got him now.
43:03He don't have him now.
43:04Look at the power of Ahmed Johnson.
43:07It's obvious now that Helmsley agreed to this match to try to get Johnson out of the way before February 16th.
43:14And it appears that it is yet to work.
43:16That big Johnson is hard to handle.
43:18I'll tell you that right now.
43:20Johnson in the corner.
43:22Ahmed Johnson will not stay down.
43:24There's a lot of fight left.
43:25And look at the power.
43:27Ahmed Johnson with tremendous velocity.
43:30Throws Helmsley over the top.
43:32And now Johnson is out there.
43:35Helmsley must think there's two of them.
43:37Johnson and Johnson.
43:39If he throws him any further, he'll have to clear customs to get back in.
43:43Ahmed Johnson, he's going after Helmsley.
43:45Even the intervention of Curtis did not win the match for Hunter.
43:49And now, Ahmed Johnson is mad.
43:52And Helmsley must be thinking, what have I got myself into?
43:56At the final four of February 16th.
43:59I'm not so sure that Helmsley can handle Ahmed Johnson from a physical sense.
44:05Ahmed Johnson wants to win the Intercontinental title back for the people.
44:09He'll get that opportunity during the final four in Chattanooga.
44:13He's going for the Pearl River.
44:15But here comes Curtis.
44:16Hurry up, Curtis.
44:17That huge butler.
44:19He's nothing more but a bodyguard.
44:22That's all he is.
44:23He's no butler.
44:24Look at Curtis with those stomps and those leather boots right to the head of
44:28Ahmed Johnson.
44:29Helmsley and Curtis having their way with the Pearl River Powerhouse.
44:34You may not think he's a butler, but he's butling Ahmed Johnson right in the head
44:38right now.
44:39He's hammering him with those big thick leather gloves.
44:42And Hunter Hearst Helmsley has got, wait a minute.
44:45Ahmed Johnson back up and ready to fight.
44:48Helmsley's gonna get out of there while the getting is good.
44:51Look at him fly.
44:53Holy mackerel.
44:54Tremendous back body drop.
44:56We've got a war here on Sunday Morning Superstars.
44:59You can feel the intensity here and a spine buster, a spine buster.
45:05And Goldust coming down the aisle attacking Helmsley.
45:08What business has he got here?
45:10This isn't his fight.
45:11Helmsley and Goldust, this is personal between those two as well.
45:16And here comes Ahmed Johnson.
45:19The fight and Ahmed Johnson knocks the boat down.
45:23What is going on here?
45:25It is chaotic on Sunday Morning.
45:27Helmsley is running.
45:29That battle continues.
45:31That battle continues.
45:33That battle continues.
