00:00Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet has asked France for historical documents to help resolve the long-running body dispute with Thailand.
00:08In a letter to French President Emmanuel Macron, Hun Manet requested access to archival and technical records related to the boundary and welcomed French expertise and advisory support.
00:20The 817-kilometer border was first mapped by France in 1907 when Cambodia was under colonial rule.
00:28Cambodia said it also welcomes France's constructive engagement to settle the dispute, adding that Macron had previously signalled willingness to assist.
00:37Fighting between the neighbours erupted in July last year, lasting five days and leaving 43 people dead.
00:44A fragile ceasefire was later brokered in Malaysia following intervention by US President Donald Trump.
00:50But hostilities resumed in December and lasted more than three weeks, leaving 101 dead and displacing more than half a million people before a new truce was declared later that month.
