00:00Cambodia has proposed Kuala Lumpur as a neutral and safe venue for bilateral talks with Thailand.
00:06This comes as the two sides prepare to negotiate truce terms following weeks of deadly border clashes.
00:14In a letter seen by AFP to his Thai counterpart,
00:17Defence Minister Tseha said Malaysia had agreed to host the talks.
00:22Defence Minister Natapon Nakpanit, however, suggested the talks would go ahead in Thailand,
00:27noting the previous meeting was hosted in Cambodia's Koh Kong province and saying it was now Thailand's turn.
00:34He reassured Cambodia that security concerns could be managed
00:38and that military and diplomatic matters would be kept separate.
00:42The meeting follows an ASEAN summit in Kuala Lumpur and would mark the first face-to-face talks
00:47between Cambodian and Thai officials since fighting resumed earlier this month.
00:51The recent clashes have killed more than 40 people and displacing over 900,000 on both sides.
