Shakur Stevenson just had a career-defining win — and days later, the WBC took his belt.
No loss. No mandatory missed. Just gone.

After defeating Teofimo Lopez at Madison Square Garden to win the WBO title at 140 pounds, Shakur Stevenson was stripped of his WBC lightweight belt at 135. The WBC says it’s about weight classes and rules — but the timing raises real questions.

Shakur had already beaten the WBC’s top contender, William Zepeda, and wasn’t due for another mandatory yet. He also claims the WBC demanded a $100,000 sanctioning fee for a fight they weren’t even involved in.

With Terence Crawford — a known WBC critic — in Shakur’s corner, some believe this decision was personal, not procedural.

Was this enforcement of the rules… or something more petty?

00:00All right, this is wild. Let me explain.
00:03Shakur Stevenson had one of the best wins of his career on Saturday night.
00:07He beat Tiafimo Lopez in Madison Square Garden, became the WBO champion at 140.
00:12Huge moment, big fight, big stage.
00:15Four days later, the WBC, he has the belt at 135 for the WBC.
00:21They strip him.
00:21You son of a bitch.
00:24Not because he lost, not because he ducked anyone or anything like that.
00:27They just took it.
00:28So the WBC said, sorry, you moved up in weight.
00:31Your belt is now vacant, and they're going to give it to whoever.
00:35But you know what the problem is with this whole thing?
00:37Shakur didn't even have the opportunity to make up his mind on what he wanted to do,
00:42what he was going to do next.
00:43Was he going to go to 135, stay at 140, and take on Conor Benn?
00:47They didn't even give him the opportunity to make a decision.
00:49They just stripped him.
00:51So it's all very shady from the WBC,
00:54and Shakur Stevenson is saying that this is because of his relationship
00:57with Terrence Crawford.
00:59Terrence Crawford stiffed the WBC, his last fight with Canelo,
01:03on the WBC sanction fees.
01:05And obviously, Terrence Crawford was in Shakur's corner on Saturday night
01:11and a supporter of him the entire camp.
01:13So we have this weird situation where Shakur Stevenson,
01:18and at 135, he beat the number one ranked opponent, William Zabeta.
01:22He just beat him.
01:23He's the top contender for the WBC belt, beat him.
01:26So they're going to strip him, and who knows what's going to happen now.
01:30But Shakur Stevenson joined an elite class of fighters on Saturday.
01:34Oscar De La Hoya, Manny Pacquiao, Floyd Mayweather, Canelo Alvarez,
01:39Terrence Crawford jumping up, getting another belt,
01:42and instead of celebrating him, they take his belt.
01:45It's wild.
01:46And he was going to pay him $100,000 in WBC sanctioning fees
01:51for a fight that the WBC had nothing to do with on Saturday.
01:54So he thinks it's like a vendetta against him because of Bud Crawford,
01:58which I don't know.
01:59But I think the WBC is being petty.
02:02Maybe I'm wrong.
02:03Comment below if you think I'm wrong.
