Braxton has managed to find both peace and purpose—whether she’s performing onstage, spending quality time with her family or enjoying moments with her “sweetheart,”whom she chooses not to name but who brings light into her life. As she continues to seek balance and solace every day, she notes, having love in her life has made this difficult time feel a little less hard.

00:00Having the opportunity to do what I do and having an opportunity, ups and downs in my life, having lupus, having bankruptcies, everything that I've been through, I talk about it. I'm not ashamed anymore. I used to be ashamed, even though I'm being ill. But now I'm embracing it and knowing that that's a part of me, that's who I am. So the scars on your body, it makes you remember like, but I got through that, I survived it. So I don't beat myself up anymore. I keep saying that because that's so important.
