00:00Get it? Oh, get it? Oh, get it? Oh. When you say who you with, you already know what we're talking
00:07about. It's the real brothers of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Incorporated. It's the brotherhood
00:12and sisterhood for essence. So this month we're celebrating the Divine Nine organizations.
00:17Alpha Phi Alpha, Alpha Kappa Alpha, Omega Psi Phi, Kappa Alpha Psi, Delta Sigma Theta,
00:24Zeta Phi Beta, Phi Beta Sigma, Sigma Gamma Rho, and Iota Phi Theta. We're showing love to our staff
00:31that are Divine Nine members. My name is Corey Jarvis. I am the head of social here at Essence
00:36Adventures. And the organization, of course, that I belong to, I just want to make sure that we
00:41clear some things up like straight up front. So the organization that I belong to, of course,
00:45is the members of the Black and Old Gold, the Standard, the Topic of Conversation,
00:50the Trend, and the Topic of Everything that y'all talking about right now in this video,
00:55the person that runs this Essence Social. So in the captions, in the comments, y'all already know
00:58that we run the boardroom. We run conversations on Twitter, social, all of it. It's us.
01:10I feel like through life, Alpha Phi Alpha actually chose me. I went to an African-centered shulé school.
01:16So I always used to learn about Frederick Douglass, W.E.B. Du Bois, Martin Luther King,
01:20Thurgood Marshall, but I didn't know that there was an underlying theme throughout some of those
01:25greats throughout history. So when I got older, I realized that they were all also members of
01:31Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Incorporated. So it felt like a natural fit for me, for sure, to join those
01:35men. I think the proudest moment that I've had is I've had the opportunity to bring in 11 other
01:43Alphas through, of course, being a dean of two lines. So I think through that and seeing
01:49other people being able to also enjoy the experience of like brotherhood, scholarship and service for
01:55all mankind and bringing them into the fold. Do me and my line brothers remain in contact?
02:01So let me give you something. I also actually am a solo. So I cross by myself. So yeah. So my
02:09line name is isolation for a reason. So yeah, I think, yeah, I remain in touch with myself every
02:15day, baby. Common misconception that I think people have about the divine eye is that all we do is
02:20stroll. All we do is step. And it's like, that is really not even the core of our, I would even say
02:26like a tip of the iceberg of what we provide to campuses. And then even in grad organizations,
02:31what we provide to the cities in which the chapters are located in. So yeah, I think we are a lot more
02:37than just that. I think an all time favorite song to stroll to would be C Murder, Down From My,
02:45because I think he played the first beat, you know, to where he comes in. And it's just like,
02:50you already know what time it is. Let's get to business. Yeah, it's complete organized like chaos
02:58when C Murder, Down From My, comes on. You already know what time it is.
