00:00When I hear the term master at something,
00:02to me that means that you have no more to learn
00:05and there's nowhere else that you can go.
00:06And even though I've been doing it for 20 years
00:08and I definitely feel very skilled at what I do,
00:10I would only hope that I can keep getting better, honey.
00:12Oh, that's the political correct question.
00:15Bitch, you fabulous.
00:16Hey, it's your girl Kiki Palmer.
00:30And I'm Sergio Hudson.
00:31And you are watching Essence Uncovered.
00:34Her style goes back to her talent for me.
00:36It, to me, accents who she is as a performer
00:40and as an innovative performer.
00:42I think she's so innovative, so fresh and so new.
00:46Sometimes when we speak, she like brings light
00:49to things that I never thought.
00:50Cause I have a very traditional mind.
00:52So like when we work together, her style is just classic.
00:56And she wants to convey classic, but modern.
00:59Let's push the needle forward.
01:00Let's look to the past, but let's look forward
01:02at the same time.
01:03So I think that defines her for sure.
01:06The friendship that we have has fueled me
01:09and given me, you know, a boost of creative energy
01:12to be able to go forward.
01:13And I feel like I've done the same for her.
01:15Without a doubt.
01:16So, you know, that's, it's been a gift, absolutely.
01:18Yes, and creatives need that.
01:20I'm so glad we found each other in Sergio.
01:22Yes.
01:23I think Sergio is more than like my fashion twin.
01:25I think he actually is like my fashion mentor.
01:29I think for me with fashion, I've always felt, you know,
01:31and I think anybody would say this was fashion.
01:33Sometimes there can be an elitism to it.
01:34You know, you got to have a specific, you know, look.
01:37You got to be a particular size.
01:38You got to be, you know, and I don't think
01:40that I really ever was the prototype of what that was.
01:43But when I met Sergio, he embraced me and showed me
01:47that I can be everything that fashion needs.
01:50When we first met, I knew we would be a good match
01:53because she told me, I'm your doll.
01:56Dress me up, fix me up.
01:57I just want to look pretty.
01:58And when she said that, I was like,
02:00we're going to be friends.
02:02The thing that I'm most inspired by obviously is my son.
02:05He has given me so much joy, life, interest, empowerment.
02:10The list goes on.
02:11So that's probably the thing I'm most excited about.
02:14And then as it pertains to me personally, myself, I mean,
02:16the things that I'm building with Sergio very much so excite me.
02:19They've, you know, given me a whole different story
02:21to tell as it pertains to style and fashion
02:24and what I want to offer to young women like myself.
02:26And then on the other side of things,
02:28I'm excited to also move into the background
02:30and really support other talented people to get their chance,
02:34you know, as far as producing and directing and writing
02:37and Key TV network that I just launched a year ago.
02:40We've been doing so much work digitally
02:41for scripted and unscripted shows.
02:43And I want to continue to go down that path.
02:45So for me, it's about also pushing other people forward.
02:49Just when I think about Sergio Hudson
02:52and what his style and his designs, what they stand for.
02:56When I look at it, I feel powerful.
02:58I feel feminine, I feel strong.
03:00And then when I met him coming off of having my baby
03:03and all the emotions and energy I was feeling,
03:06that's what he also encouraged in me.
03:08And so I think, I don't know,
03:09I just feel like the universe brought us together
03:11because we were, what he speaks to is exactly where I am
03:14at this point in my life, having my baby,
03:16getting ready to turn 30.
03:18I think it's everything, you know,
03:20that I think when I think of you.
03:21What I'll tell you is this,
03:24is that even in that pressure I felt of snapping back,
03:27I feel less self-conscious than I did beforehand.
03:29And I think it's very indicative of the people
03:31that I have around me, the support system that I have
03:33from my trainer, Corey Kaye, to Sergio.
03:37No one said, you need to be who you was before.
03:40They all kept saying, who you are now is giving down.
03:44And that really made me feel like, yeah,
03:46let me get into this new me.
03:49And I think that's what all moms deserve.
03:50Keep eating these bitches up, I'm playing.
03:55But we're not.
03:57I'm just playing.
03:58We're not playing, period.
