00:00But, you know, people who have seen the premiere already have likened the film to almost like a war movie in that, you know, there's the action, but there's so much depth and so much emotion.
00:10I'm curious for you, you know, can you talk a little bit about that approach and even touching on grief while processing your own, you know, during the process?
00:18Yeah, we wanted to make a movie that would affect audiences on every level, you know, like we're trying to respect the audience at all times, if that makes sense.
00:30And it's something that I try to think about because I'm an audience member so much.
00:35I love going to the movies, you know, and so I think the greatest gift as filmmakers that we can give the audience members a good time at the movies, you know, something that they watch and they think about, they feel full.
00:47They think about the meal the next day, they think about the meal the day after.
00:50It's like, I want to go back to that restaurant and eat that again, you know, like, so that's the type of stuff we're trying to make.
00:54We want this film to be like that.
00:56We wanted it to have all of the flavors that a film could have, like, you know, emotional depth, high stakes action, intrigue, twists, you know, we wanted to deliver.
01:08But in terms of what I was feeling, you know, I think grief can sometimes be an isolating thing where it's like, man, this is only happening to me, you know, but the truth is, it was very clear to us that what we were going through was kind of happening to everybody.
01:27You know, on like a analogous level, you know what I'm saying, like, like, like, like, like, I'll lose a friend and a collaborator who means a lot to me.
01:37Other people have been through something like that, you know what I'm saying, like, but also on a direct level, man, everybody, Chad affected everybody, you know, like, like, so, so, and then even more so on a societal level, we were, we were being affected by COVID.
01:52While, while, you know, obviously we still are, like, but, but, but at that time I was, you know, I was like pre-vaccine, pre-vaccine and, and, and, you know, like, like scared to give someone like a hug and, you know, you know what I'm saying?
02:02It was, it was, that was the zone that we lost him in, you understand?
02:07So, so, so, and we were still in that zone with the, making the movie.
02:10So it makes sense to lean into that emotions.
02:12Like, you know, I thought that if we leaned in, the film would probably be more relatable.
