00:10I'd like to jump right in with Maruyama.
00:13We talked in 2018 when you had done Hair Wolf.
00:16And you hinted at Master.
00:18You didn't really tell me much at the time.
00:20But I wanted to know how long you've been thinking about this gorgeous project.
00:24And what was the transition like from comedy, something like Hair Wolf,
00:28into like a full-on, forward drama?
00:30First of all, thank you so much.
00:33You know, it's funny because I recently actually looked back in my files
00:37to try to discover when I started the first draft of Master.
00:42And the first file that I can find,
00:45and I might look on another computer and find an earlier file,
00:48but was from 2016.
00:50So it's definitely been on my mind for a very long time.
00:55And I've lived with it for so long.
00:58And so it just feels so incredible to be here at the precipice
01:02of being able to share it with everybody,
01:04knowing, you know, thinking back to that younger version of myself
01:08that first started writing this, you know,
01:10what feels like a lifetime ago.
01:12And interestingly enough, you know,
01:15I think that moving between comedy and horror
01:18has been very intuitive for me.
01:20And I actually wrote Master before Hair Wolf.
01:23So I kind of moved from horror to comedy in the short
01:28and then back to horror again.
01:32But it's just, you know, it's a genre that I love so much
01:34and it's so close to me.
01:36So it felt like it came very naturally.
