00:00How has it been for you creatively through the pandemic?
00:03I mean, I feel like now we're in like a third wave, you know, and a lot of musicians have
00:06talked to me, I know, you know, the difficulty of not even performing live, you know, and
00:11some have felt more creative, some, you know, opposite.
00:14What's it been like for you?
00:16It's been a little bit of a roller coaster for me because I write based on kind of personal
00:22experience or the personal experience of people close enough to me to give me the details
00:26I need for the song.
00:27So if my reality is sitting in the house all damn day under my children as they break
00:35things and act like they didn't break them, you know, they write their name on stuff and
00:41then swear it wasn't them type of, that type of, if that's my reality, that's all like,
00:45if that's all that's happening around me, then those are not very entertaining records.
00:49Don't nobody want to hear that song.
00:51So, so it's been a bit of a challenge for me because, you know, it's not safe to just be
00:56out and about and moving around and experiencing things the way you normally would.
00:59It's not completely safe right now.
01:00Even with a mask on, it ain't totally safe.
01:03And I have children with asthma.
01:04So it's kind of a double whammy for me.
01:06Like I'm not so much concerned about catching myself.
01:08I'll catch it and beat it.
01:09I have a great immune system.
01:11I have children with asthma.
01:12It might be a different situation for them.
01:13And the last thing I would ever want to do is catch something and bring it home to them.
01:17So, yeah, it kind of puts a little bit of a stipend on your creativity to a degree if
01:23your creativity is based on reality.
01:26Now, what it does force you to do is kind of step outside of reality and, you know,
01:30work your fiction muscles a little bit.
01:32You know, let me, all right, since I ain't got nothing to pull from, let me just create
01:35something from scratch, which is harder, which is so much harder.
01:40I mean, really, truly, but I mean, but I mean, so some of the songs on this new album
01:46were actual, factual.
01:47Some of the songs are made up because I had to do what I had to do in the time and space
01:53that I was in.
01:53Yeah.
