00:00The right to vote is barely 55 years old.
00:04Preach.
00:05Have a moment.
00:09We're not even talking about Harriet and Sojourner and Frederick Douglass and Marcus Garvey.
00:17We're talking about my dad knew where he was when the act was passed.
00:22Yeah.
00:23You know, this is fresh.
00:25We have to show up.
00:26And, you know, we sometimes show up in our marches, in our voices, in our social media, in our activism.
00:36But our voice is so important.
00:38I heard Sam Jackson on one of these ads on the radio today.
00:41And he said, if your vote wasn't that important, why do I try to keep it from you?
00:48And then I remember something else.
00:51A hundred dollar bill is made up of wands.
00:54Okay.
00:55Okay.
00:56Can we just, can we just stack it?
00:59Can we just stack it?
01:00I'm sitting.
01:01Stack it, compound it, make it real.
01:03And I thought, yes, that it matters.
01:07And I think that there's been a healing process for me this last year in terms of taking the time to go through those props, noticing all the neighbor signs,
01:19who's voting for this person for counsel and all those things, Google, I literally was like, bring down this prop 21 for me, please.
01:31Like, because it's like the proposition to reject, you know, there's so many double negatives, you don't even know where your yes vote is.
01:39Right, right, right, right, right, right, where's the lie?
01:42You have to know that it matters and just sit there and do it.
01:47And yes, make dinner and answer this call and take this neighbor to the pole who can't get there.
01:53And be present on social media.
01:57But you have to, like, constantly educate yourself because it will not be given to you.
02:03You have to know that it will not be given to you, but it will not be given to you.
