Loni Love Talks About the Significance of Black Women in Politics
Transcript
00:00We see a silver lining right now, right?
00:02We got growing numbers of Black women running for office and winning.
00:06We got Mayor Keisha Lance Bottles, Mayor LaToya Cantrell.
00:09Like, we got mayors named Keisha and LaToya.
00:12Can we just acknowledge that for a second right now?
00:14And recent when Congresswoman Cori Bush, can we talk a little bit about what this moment means for us?
00:23I think it means a lot.
00:25I mean, let's not forget our good sister Stacey Abrams.
00:28We still need to put her in a position.
00:31I'm still waiting for that.
00:32See, this is what I'm saying.
00:33Okay.
00:34We got my girl, Simone Sanders.
00:37We got Kieran Jean-Pierre, who have, you know, led.
00:42And there's so many other wonderful Black women.
00:46And it just shows that Black women, we're tired of just, you know, being on the side.
00:50We don't actually lead.
00:52We're starting to lead.
00:53And so this is what this day represents to me, is that, no,
00:57we're not only just going to be the ones, the backbone, because we've been the backbone,
01:01especially of the Democratic Party.
01:03But now we're putting ourselves in positions so that we can help make the laws to make our nation for everybody.
