The spokesperson for the Palestinian Red Crescent Society, Raed al‑Nims, confirmed that the evacuation of patients and wounded individuals via the Rafah crossing has been canceled for Wednesday. He explained that the procedure was meant to transfer sick and injured people from the Red Crescent hospital to Egypt for medical treatment, but Israel continues to block Palestinians from exiting Gaza. On Tuesday, only 16 Palestinians were allowed to cross into Egypt, far below the 50 per day that Israeli officials had previously announced would be permitted in each direction.
