00:00I am Zenelia Harris. I am a woman who's from Southern Virginia who grew up with a dream.
00:12I grew up with a dream that I didn't know exactly what it was, but I knew that I was destined for
00:21something greater than the area from where I grew up. When I went to college, I had in my mind that
00:28I wanted to be better, better at my finances. I wanted to take hold of it, and I wanted to run
00:36with understanding how I could do more with the money that I had. And so that started me on this
00:44quest. I didn't know that I was on this journey. I didn't even appreciate that I was on the journey.
00:50I had to figure it out on my own. I didn't have support like some of my friends may have
00:58had. I didn't have a two-family household. My grandmother struggled financially. And those
01:04things are circumstances that really impacted how I looked at my future, how I looked at myself.
01:12And I've had to overcome some of those things. Because around me, I saw poverty. I saw struggle.
01:20I saw abuse. And I know that for my life, I made a conscious decision that that's not what
01:27I wanted to see, be a part of, and I didn't want to pass that along to the next generation.
01:33And I believe that women starting businesses is powerful. Because as women, we're the ones
01:40who educate and nurture our children. And so this is what I'm passing along to my daughter.
01:48She's seeing me start something from scratch, build it, nurture it, and grow it. And then
01:54to be able to pass it along to her. So then she can then grow it, nurture it, and take it
02:00to the next level. And you're sitting there thinking, how can I get from point A to point
02:05B? The first thing that I will tell you to do, I'm going back to, is always listen to your
02:13dreams. Listen and see the dream. The second thing you need to do, is focus in on the vision.
02:23That's being painted in the dream. The third thing you need to do, is to write it down.
02:30So that you can see it. So that it can be implanted in your mind. And you can always focus on that
02:37each step that you take, is leading you to that ultimate goal. And that is making that
02:43dream your reality. My name is Zenelia Harris, and this is my path to power.
