00:00The spoiled little girl in me would so love to tell you that you could stop pain from ever
00:09investing in your life. The truth is, pain is normal. And no matter how much you think you can
00:15shelter your heart, you will always experience some level of pain. It's a part of being a human
00:21being. The next part of your journey should be learning how to repair that pain. And because
00:26we're human and feelings rule the world, we think that the story or the suffering is the most
00:32important part of the journey, instead of owning the emotion and moving forward. I'm
00:38Ty Alexander, and that was an excerpt from my book, Things I Wish I Knew Before My Mom Died.
00:44The biggest lesson that I want to tell you if you're grieving is that you have to practice
00:49gratitude. Every morning and every day, I get up and I think about all of the things that I'm
00:55grateful for. And that puts me back in the spot of love. If you have a friend that may be going to
01:01a similar situation, my biggest advice to you is to just listen to them. All we ever want to know
01:08is that we're heard and that you're there for us.
